Also just to be clear. I do not do pedophilia, all characters are aged up in this stuff or aged down depending on the character, no loli, no yaoi, no shota, I don't do watersports (Shit/Piss/fart fetish shit)I don't do stuff like vore or entire bodies getting shoved into places (Shrink play) I don't do blood play or torture (Ball/cock crushing etc) or certain old people, (Yes I am a fucking hypocrite) . Also if you ask for something in reviews that normally means I won't do it. So anyone who asks for that will be disappointed. If you have questions/requests/suggestions PM me instead.

Sorry that the first few chapters have been on the short side. Just been trying to set up the world a bit. Hopefully longer ones will be coming soon.

Also I do not use AI. Fucking hate that shit.

Over one hundred years ago. When the world knew balance.

The explosion sent another gout of flame and magma upwards. Roku circled overhead. His dragon huffing with the fumes. The smells were overpowering to the Avatar. He could not imagine what it must feel to be a creature with a nose about the size of a cart.

The final boat fled from the island. Over capacity as citizens lashed themselves to the sides. Holding onto each other for dear life. The boats drifted slowly outwards. Over burdened to the point of sloth. Still more inhabitants of the island rushed down to the shore. Their modest dwellings left in disrepair. A river of magma slowly meandered its way down towards the shore. The final inhabitants of the island trapped between the waves and the fires. Ash swirled in the air, dark and heavy. Clotting up noses, leaving burn marks across bodies, dozens were left with no escape.

"We will land, and evacuate any remaining on the island!" Roku shouted over the rush of air. Fang hovered in midair, roaring the instructions towards Sozin's mount. Sozin raised an arm confirming that his dragon had relayed the orders. The two great dragons began their spiraling descent. A second figure clung to Sozin's back.

Azulon watched the proceedings with wide eyes. The young man was still in the navy, training to work his way upwards. For all of Sozin's faults he was firm in this. No child of his would be given a position of merit simply on account of his blood. If Azulon wished to prove himself worthy of the throne then he would need to claw and kick to sit on it's seat.

The young man coughed, his hair was coming loose from its top knot. Making little black lines across his face. He stared between his father and the Avatar. The two older men merely ground their teeth and got on with saving their people.

The two dragons flew down towards the earth. The lap of waves against the shivering earth echoed the heartbeat in the two men's breasts. The animals landed heavily. A swarm of people came begging up.

Fire nation citizens, arms held up. Some had burn marks from the smoke, others were carrying thick packages, still others were dragging the dead and dying. People swarmed the Fire Lord and the Avatar. The two more powerful men in the country.

"What is this? Leave it!" Sozin roared. He grabbed at the old man's knap sack and tossed it away. The old man cried out in distress. Scrolls and gold shattered across the volcanic ground.

"Leave it all! Save yourselves!" Sozin ordered his people. Many dropped their bags, their belongings, their bed rolls, all that they had left in the world. They left it all behind on that beach. The black sand beneath their feet rumbled. Another gyser of lava bounded up into the sky. Roku covered his eyes for a moment. The light was overwhelming.

Sozin glared at the fire blasting into the night. As if he was attempting to will the liquid rock back into the depths of the earth.

"The lava will reach the beach soon. We don't have much time." Sozin gripped his friends arm and squeezed. Avatar Roku nodded, he turned towards the ocean and summoned the water nearer. The water stiffened, grasping itself, within moments where there had been a wave was now a thick block of ice. And beside it more ice, and beside that even more. Soon over a dozen slick ice sheets as thick as a sofa floated in the waves.

"Get on and start kicking!" Avatar Roku shouted to the awaiting horde of people. They did not need to be ordered twice. They clambered onto the ice sheets. Grabbing outstretched hands, pushing the elderly and the small towards the center, and flinging their lives onto the sand in their efforts to escape.

Soon the beaches were littered with leftovers. From robes to combs, from dried meat to paintings, from priceless family heirlooms to actual tapestries. Roku glared upwards at the volcano.

"It will not stop, they might be able to get far enough away…" He mumbled to himself.

"But we can give them more time." The heir said to his honorary uncle. Roku grinned at the young man before clasping Azulon's shoulder.

"Well said. I will attempt to force the lava back. You and your father are to focus on the fires that get past me." Roku turned to his dragon that still remained coughing on the shoreline.

"Come and fetch us if the smoke permits. Otherwise make sure that everyone reaches the far shore safely." Roku ordered the massive beast. Fang grumbled and gave his rider a long hard look. Attempting to impress upon him a life time of feeling, a life time of companionship. The two dragons then took off. Leaving the Fire Lord and the Avatar and the Heir.

Roku closed his eyes, his breathing slowed, and he reached out towards a familiar presence.

"Raava? Are you there?" he inquired. He did not hear her voice. Raava did not speak with a human voice. Instead he felt her. He felt her deep within him. Roku knew the touch of a lover under the bed sheets, he knew the weight of a cup of tea during a chilly day, he knew the smell of flowers during the spring. And none could compare to the dignity of Raava. She reached back and took a hold of him.

Over ten thousand years worth of bending experience flooded Roku's muscles. The mastery of movement came to him in countless different lifetimes. His fingers ached with the knowledge, his legs sung with the familiarity. He took a deep breath, bent his legs, and launched himself upwards.

Roku flew through the air. His thick red robes streaming in the wind. He stared downwards, eyes as sharp as a hawks on the hunt. His hands came upwards and moved the air, calling to it, making friends with it, then demanding of it. His descent slowed as he reached the summit of the volcano.

Standing firm he bullied the rocks into submission. He ordered boulders to bounce like giant ships made of stone. He flung and tossed and stacked and formed a barrier. Then another, then another, over and over he built thick walls of stone. Attempting to slow the liquid heat that inched slowly downwards.

Roku ground his teeth together. His senses were awash with everything. He could see the heat leaking from the stones. He could feel the very earth shifting beneath his feet. And beyond that lay the sea, the never ending sea. He cracked his back and forced the elements to follow his orders.

The lava did not heed him. And merely moved forwards. While slowed it was not stopped.

Roku turned and launched himself back down the hill. His legs stiff and elderly beneath his robes. Being the Avatar aged one prematurely. The stress of balancing the world of spirits and the world of man was a thankless task. And no matter what position he took the consequences would always follow him. Failing that the consequences would follow whoever inherited the title next. He pitied them.

"Did Kyoshi ever pity me?" Roku wondered out loud. He doubted it. She had been a fine Avatar. Unconcerned with the feelings of others. She took a stance and she saw it through. She had defeated Vaatu twice during her reign. She had killed him when she was barely out of childhood, and then destroyed him a second time when she was an old woman. A mere year before her death. No other Avatar could boast that they defeated the enemy of the world twice.

Roku landed heavily towards a fire gusting in the open. The wind was pushing and pulling the flames. Forcing it to lunge into the sky and then swirl dangerously. Roku took a fire bending stance and shushed at the flames. Soon the fire was merely the size of a cook fire, then a candle, and finally it guttered out entirely.

Roku gazed over the hill. There were still countless more before him. Countless more fires to put out. He wondered when he had gotten so damned old. So old that his bones ached, so old that the fire seemed to stretch on forever. So old that he could hardly breath.

Coughing in the volcanic smoke Roku knew it was time to flee. He launched himself into the air and gazed around wildly for the Fire Lord and his son. Something flashed from the corner of his eye. He turned and frowned. He saw a fire growing larger, not smaller. A body was laid out beside the licking flames. Roku's heart stopped.

Falling, heedless of his speed, he forced himself to land next to Fire Lord Sozin's body. The old man's eyes were wide, his lips parted, chapped in the heat the skin had snapped, a dribble of blood falling over his chin. Sozin's hands were singed, as if he had been playing with flames.

"No…Oh no…Oh my friend." Roku cradled the corpse to him. Tears came and dried and steamed upwards. The heat from the volcano stealing away even this little moment of sorrow.

Roku felt his heart shatter. He and the Fire Lord had been childhood friends, they had trained together, worked together, picked up beautiful women and practiced their cheesy childish pick up lines with each other.

Even after Roku had become the Avatar they had remained close. For all of the times they had butted heads, they had always reconciled. The sorrow and pains of stopping the Fire Nation's expansionist leanings had faded over time.

And now…now Fire Lord Sozin was dead. Roku closed his old friends eyes and pressed their foreheads together. It was an ancient Water Tribe ritual. A way to give comfort to a loved one. A kiss reserved only for the closest of companions and family members. Roku had gained much knowledge in his journeys. And this one had always stuck with him.

He let out a choking gasp. A sharp pain arching from his shoulder blades and downwards. He stood up and stumbled. Something was in his back. He coughed and blood spattered his snow white beard. Turning he saw Azulon. The young man stood there, staring at the Avatar with fascination.

Roku took a shivering step towards the young boy. He had been there at Azulon's birth. He had changed the young prince's diapers. He had carried the boy and trained him in fire bending himself.

There were two knife sheaths on Azulon's belt. Both were empty, one knife was in the young man's hands.

"Zuzu?" Roku mumbled out the childhood nickname in confusion. He stumbled to his knees and coughed. A thick hacking movement. More blood spattered from his lips. Roku touched the boot of the young man. The Avatar felt so very faint and weak. The smoke was swirling around his head. He felt as if he was deep in a fog. Lost somewhere with no way out.

"Why?" Roku gazed up at the young man. Who merely smiled. A glow came to Azulon's eyes and he knelt to glare into the old man's.

"Because of the balance Raava. All for the balance." Roku let out another gasp. He shifted and the cold lance of pain in his back took another moment of his life. He was hurtling towards death. The knife had gone in expertly. He could already feel the icy fingers reaching out gleefully for him.

"Impossible….We reincarnate at the same moment. We can't break the cycle outside of an eclipse. The next one isn't for over one hundred years." Roku tried to gasp again. But his lungs refused to listen. Azulon, the Dark Avatar, the companion of Vaatu smiled. A smile that reached his ears, a smile that refused the soul, a smile that held only hate and malice.

"We were tired of you always winning Raava. So we decided to take matters into our own hands. Many times before you have gotten to live and shape this world while we languished in the spirit realm, awaiting the moment to return. The only chance we had before was with Kyoshi, and that was merely luck and circumstance. We grew impatient this time around." Azulon took the knife out of Roku's back and shoved it into a different place. The heat of the island did not seem to be affecting him. In fact the young man seemed to relish in the sweat and extreme temperature.

"You broke the cycle…Vaatu…do you have any idea what this might do to us all?" The cycle was always meant to be followed, the order was meant to keep balance. And now…It was all coming apart.

"You are the being of the cycle. I am the being that breaks the cycle. Honestly Raava…Are you that surprised that I destroyed our little game?" Roku rallied himself and grabbed Azulon by the lapels, pulling him down so that they were face to face.

"I've killed Vaatu before! The pirate king! The fifth nation! The lord of the seas! He died by my hands! You should not be here! You can't be here!"

"He was a pretender. I never once gave him any powers. I waited until you grew old and complacent. Then I reincarnated." Vaatu explained casually. His voice was nails on a chalkboard, his voice was the sound of fire cooking human fat, his voice was that of a cruel despot, his was the voice of the future.

"We don't reincarnate into the same nation! It upsets the balance!" Roku protested again. Vaatu merely smirked downwards.

"You really don't understand this do you old man? I cheated, I am the being of chaos and disorder. I will plunge the world into it for a millenia. I will ruin all that you have worked for. I did all of this because your way is unnatural. Look at that volcano. It does not follow any sort of logic or reason. It merely is. I am the volcano that shall wipe out civilization. And you shall merely languish. In a hundred years they will not even remember the name Raava."

Roku tried to sit up, but his limbs refused to listen. He tried to strain but his body couldn't move.

"You have no idea what this may bring about. We have never been members of the same nation before now. Who knows what will come from this. The balance…the balance…." Roku grumbled, his eyes growing dimmer. Until finally they faded and closed.

Azulon chuckled and stood back up. He grabbed Roku by the top knot and casually cut the prince's crown free. He walked to his father and did it again. The two golden circles sat heavy in his palm.

"Well Vaatu, it is just you and I now." The prince of the Fire Nation spoke to the air. He awaited the spirit's response. But none came. Unbothered he turned back to the ocean and whistled.

His father's dragon came crashing down. The great beast, older then the hills and wiser then the spirits themselves stared quizzically at it's young master. Azulon did not speak, he merely mounted his beast of burden and took off.

The fires from the volcano raged until the next day. Only extinguishing themselves by the end of the crowning ceremony. Fire Lord Azulon, the young military man turned leader of the islands did not cry for his father.

Now some of you may be thinking...another Avatar Story? And it looks like it will be a long one? And where is all the smut? I thought you were a porn artist what is up with this crap? I wanna get my rocks off. And to all of those people I say this. Of course this is going to be smut in this story. I'm not a fucking maniac.

And this one probably won't get as many updates as A Better Life. But as always if stories get more reviews I will update them faster. But I just felt like exploring this story idea that has been bouncing around in my head for a bit. So...Here you go. Enjoy. The first couple of chapters will probably be short. And then gradually start bulking up more in the word count department.

I hope you enjoy. And if you do pretty please leave a fucking review.
