Beckett and Castle step into the observation room as Ryan and Esposito enter the interrogation room. Beckett's sharp eyes are fixed on her colleagues through the glass, her arms crossed. Castle stands just behind her, watching both her and the unfolding scene, ready to offer support if she needs it.
The kidnapper doesn't immediately acknowledge Ryan and Esposito as they take their seats, instead leaning back with a smug grin. He's trying to recapture his bravado after Beckett's confrontation, but it's clear from his restless shifting that she's rattled him.
"So," Esposito starts, leaning forward with a cold intensity. "Let's talk about what you did to Detective Beckett."
"Oh, Detective Beckett," the kidnapper says with a low chuckle. He glances briefly at the window, his grin widening as if he can sense she's watching. "Beautiful, isn't she? I bet you two have noticed."
Esposito's face hardens, but he doesn't bite. Ryan, however, steps in smoothly, his voice icy. "We're here to talk about you. And how long you'll be rotting in a cell for this."
But the kidnapper doesn't stop. "You know," he continues, his gaze still flicking toward the window, "she's even more stunning when she's vulnerable. That fire in her eyes, it just makes breaking her all the more satisfying. And now, seeing her like this…" He gestures toward his own stomach mockingly, referencing her pregnancy. "Well, I guess I left my mark, huh?"
In the observation room, Beckett's expression is stony, but her posture tense. Castle, noticing the tension in her frame, steps closer. "You're stronger than him," he murmurs, his voice steady and low.
Ryan's voice cuts through the interrogation room, sharp and controlled. "The only mark you'll be leaving is in a criminal record. And trust me, you're going to regret every second of what you did to her."
Esposito leans forward, his voice a dangerous growl. "Do you really think you've won anything here? You're a coward who preys on women to make yourself feel powerful. But here's the thing—you messed with the wrong one. Beckett's not just going to survive this. She's going to bury you."
The kidnapper shifts uncomfortably, but he quickly tries to regain his footing. "Big talk. But I still got closer to her than any of you ever will. I saw everything," he sneers, his voice dripping with vile satisfaction. "She's—"
"Enough." Ryan's voice snaps like a whip, silencing him.
In the observation room, Castle steps even closer to Beckett, his voice low and intense.
"He's trying to get to you. Don't let him." Beckett nods slightly, her jaw tightening as she continues to watch.
In the interrogation room, Esposito stands abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. "Let's be clear," he says, towering over the kidnapper. "You're done. And trust me, when she walks in here to testify against you, you'll see exactly how little power you have."
For the first time since Espo and Ryan entered, the kidnapper's confidence falters. His eyes dart between the two detectives, then to the window again, as if he's searching for Beckett's reaction.
"She's watching, isn't she?" he mutters, the bravado fading from his tone."Let her-"
Esposito cuts him off with cold finality. "I said you're done."
Ryan stands as well, his voice hard and unrelenting. "Enjoy your cell. It's the only place you'll be seeing any walls from now on."
They leave the room without another word, shutting the door behind them.
In the observation room, Ryan and Esposito step in to join Beckett and Castle. Esposito looks to Beckett, his expression softening. "You okay?"
Beckett nods, her gaze still focused on the man who tried to destroy her. "I am", she says quietly. Castle places a steady hand on her shoulder. "He's nothing," he says firmly.
"And you," Ryan adds, meeting her eyes, "are everything he couldn't break."
A flicker of a smile crosses her face as she finally turns away from the glass.
