Hope went off to her bedroom, feeling her emotions starting to weigh down on her. The lights flickered around the Abattoir as Hope struggled to maintain control. She grabbed onto the wall near her and put a hand on her stomach as she breathed in and out slowly. Something happened to Landon, and whatever it was, it wasn't good. She couldn't explain how she knew beyond usual pessimistic thoughts. She just... did. But she was never going to find him if she couldn't take control of her magic and her emotions. If she didn't get control over herself, the situation could become even worse than it already was. The urn was not the priority. Chances are, it was gone. Just like she had let the stupid knife disappear because she was too focused on the Necromancer. She couldn't lose herself in her emotions. She had to focus and find Landon. No matter what it took.
She wiped away the tear that had escaped her eye and rolled down her cheek, and she headed out of her room, determination on her face. She rejoined her family, who all went quiet at her sudden return. "Alright. Anyone that doesn't want to help me doesn't have to. But my plan is to search all of New Orleans. Enhanced senses. Searching. Everywhere. We split up and cover more ground. If we still can't find him, we can meet up and figure out our next move. Kol and Davina, I'm really sorry for dragging you here for no successful reason."
"You don't need to apologize" Davina said.
"Yeah, we'll always be here for our favorite niece." Kol said.
Usually, that was the point where Hope laughed a little and pointed out that she was their only niece. But right now, she didn't have it in her to make that playful reminder. Instead, she just said, "Alright, lets go." They all picked areas, the vampires choosing larger areas than those without vampire speed and senses as enhanced. Hope packed a small bag quickly and headed out of the Abattoir, working on searching for her boyfriend Landon Kirby.
The longer she walked the streets of New Orleans and focused her senses, the more she became panicked and then less she was able to control her senses. She stopped at a corner and closed her eyes, focusing on finding him, and she suddenly could hear better than before, listen to things more distinctly. None of which were Landon, but she kept moving forward, not willing to give up. When she turned yet another corner, she ended up face to face with her aunt Davina, who had chosen to walk along the streets as well.
"Have you found anything?" Hope questioned, though she knew before the question left her mouth that the answer would be no. Otherwise, her aunt would have called her or at the very least, appeared more pleased than she did.
"No. Kol is checking out the bayou, but I thought I could walk with you while we search. In case one of us notices something the other one doesn't" Davina explained.
"Alright" Hope agreed after a moment and continued forward, searching. "But you don't need to make anything up. I know the only reason you are with me is to keep an eye on my emotional state. Which, for the record, is fine enough"
"Hope, look up. Focus on more than just searching" Davina said.
The tribrid slowly looked up and saw that it looked as though it was close to raining. Thunder was booming as flashes of lightning lit up the sky which was slowly darkening. "So? It's thundering and is about to storm"
She looked at her aunt, wondering what this had to do with anything. The weather was the last thing on Hope's mind, so of course she was more focused on the streets of New Orleans, on the people and what they were saying. Of sounds that could have been screams but ended up being someone watching tv on their cellular device. Why would Hope possibly care about the weather at a moment like this? A moment when all she felt inside was fear and an aching heart slowly etching deeper into her very core, affecting her in ways that only the people she deeply loved could.
At those thoughts, it began raining, and Davina gave Hope a look, not saying a word yet saying everything silently with just the look in her eyes and the expression on her face. It suddenly sunk in, and she looked up as rain hit her face and soaked up her clothing and small bag strapped over her shoulder. "Wait, are you saying that I'm doing this?" Hope questioned, rain water getting into her mouth a little as she spoke. She worked hard to control her abilities. To keep herself together even when it was hard. The tribrid had thought she was containing her magic, no matter how much she had boiling inside, threatening to come to the surface. But apparently she wasn't containing it well enough.
"That's exactly what I think. You're caught up in your emotions, and it's affecting everything around you. Though it's good that it is a storm, rather than a fire" Davina said. "Just breathe, focus on your magic, and control it. Relax."
Hope closed her eyes and did as her aunt requested, breathing out slowly. Landon had to be alright. She had to control her magic or someone would get hurt, and she couldn't bear the thought of anyone else getting hurt because of her. It was bad enough that Landon and her parents had gotten hurt because of her. But no one else. She HAD to control it. With that in mind, the storm slowly faded into a normal sky, causing humans around to be confused at the sudden shift before going about their business, the storm no longer on most of their minds.
"Good" the witch said and started walking with her again. "We're going to find him. I know there's a chance he won't be... well... alive. And I know how that feels. But one way or another, we are going to find out and you'll get your answer"
"I know" the tribrid said softly as she began walking as well. "I just... I never planned to open my heart up to anyone. I knew the risks. I knew I could lose them and that they could die because of me and my family. And I know you all want me to be happy, and I want that too. But if he dies and its because of me. If he leaves me like mom and dad and uncle Elijah... I don't know if I can take it."
"You can." Davina said. "And if you can't, thats okay too. But we'll do our best to help you and be there for you if you need us."
"Thank you" Hope said, though she knew if Landon was dead, once she got back to Mystic Falls, there was a possibility she would shut everyone out again. "What about the urn? Any ideas who could have taken it?"
"No, but whoever it was had to have been human. No one else, no other species could have gotten in there."
The moment the words left her lips, an idea sunk into Hope's mind, weighing down on her. How did it take her this long to consider it? Who did she know that was human and had connections to Malivore? What group of people had any possible motive to collect the urn? That tossed people into the Malivore pit whenever it suited their means? If there was just one person there that wanted to get the keys inside Malivore pit, then they could have followed the mummy here from the pit and stole the urn while her family had been preoccupied by the mummy and Hope's missing boyfriend. The same organization whose ex member was where she and Landon had gotten the urn from in the first place.
Triad.
"I take it by your expression that you have an idea of who could have taken it?"
Before Hope could form a response that would satisfy her aunt, Davina's phone rang. It was Kol. The tribrid stared at the phone as Davina pulled it out of her pocket, a hand twisting figuratively at her insides as she swallowed hard, waiting for news on whether Kol had found him or his body. He wouldn't have been calling yet if there was no news. There had to be something. And Hope was both eager and absolutely terrified to find out what it was.
"He wants us to meet him at the bayou" Davina said after she hug up the phone, and the tribrid swallowed a bit and nodded, heading in that direction.
"Did he say anything else? Anything about Landon?" She couldn't help but asking. Usually she eavesdropped when it felt important, but in that moment she had been paralyzed with fear, not able to focus on anything other than the fact she was about to find out what had happened to Landon. Prove the sinking feeling, more than that, the unexplainable knowledge that she wasn't going to like what she found.
"Nothing. He didn't explain what he found. Just where he wanted us to go" the witch replied, though she could guess he didn't want to risk Hope overhearing what had happened until he was able to be there for her.
The seventeen year old nodded, not trusting herself to speak as they headed in the direction of the bayou. She wasn't daft. She could tell that something had happened and Kol hadn't wanted to risk her hearing. Of course she could figure it out. The tribrid recalled how secretive and whispering they had all been when she was dying, not wanting to burden her with the information that she had been able to determine on her own. She knew what had happened, what Kol was concealing from her now, but if she let it sink in before confirmation, if she let herself contiinue to think about it, she wasn't sure she would make it to the bayou, which was where she needed to be, one way or another.
When they finally reached the bayou, Kol and Rebekah where standing there with no Landon in sight. "Where is he?" Hope questioned, going towards them.
"Hope-" Rebekah started, taking a step closer to her niece, who took a step back.
"Where is he?" she repeated, looking between them.
"He's back there. But... he's dead. Someone killed him" Kol explained.
Her throat closed up as she struggled for air as the confirmation was put in front of her. As the words only cemented the fact she had known deep down. Tears burned in her eyes, and she didn't even realize that she had gripped the closest tree for support and had fallen to her knees, her body shaking in grief as the tears finally began to fall. It had taken the tribrid a minute to notice when her aunt Rebekah had gone over to her and wrapped her arms around her, but once she did, the tribrid clung to her aunt, sobbing as she buried her face in her neck.
She could feel her family's eyes on her, but she couldn't bring herself to pull away from her aunt, to lie and convince them that she would be okay. She felt as though she were drowning, drowning in an ocean of grief, of guilt. Her mind kept going to all of her warnings to him, her confessions about her fears of what would happen to him, even the day they had met. And yet, he was determined to remain by her side. To prove that he was able to spend time with her and still survive. Yet, now he was dead. She wasn't sure how long she remained in her aunt's arms, whether it was a minute or the crushing eternity that it felt like she was enduring with each passing second.
Finally, she pulled away and stared at Kol, wiping her eyes. "Where is he? I need to see him."
"Are you sure you're ready for that?" Davina asked, looking at her.
Hope nodded. "I have to be. I cant just know he's-" She swallowed hard. "Where is he?"
"Up ahead. I'll lead you the way." Kol said and led her in the direction of Landon's corpse.
When Hope saw it, a hand went over her mouth as she choked back a sob, it hitting her even more than she had before now that she was seeing visual proof. She stumbled forward towards his body and fell to her knees as she reached it, tears streaming down her face as her body shook once more. She grabbed his hand and held it, wishing he would just wake up, that her senses were wrong. That reality she was facing was wrong. After all, people had come back from the dead before. But no, here he was, not moving, his clothes covered in blood after whoever it was did what they did to him. And he wasn't coming back.
This was all her fault. She wasn't supposed to exist. She was a cosmic mistake, someone who should never have been born. And she brought the tour guide into her life despite knowing how dangerous it could be. Despite that history of pain and suffering had proven that letting someone in wasn't right. She had nearly gotten Nik killed. And she had gotten her parents and Elijah killed. Freya and Keelin had nearly died a few times in the past because of her. Because of someone who wasn't supposed to exist. And now Landon had died too. Someone who, despite only knowing for months now, she couldn't picture her life without. And yet here he was, his corpse slowly rotting on the floor in the woods. And if she had just made sure he stayed by her side, he would still be alive. She could have protected him. But now it was too late.
Hope wasnt sure how much time has passed. Time was continuing on, but every second that past felt like an eternity as she grieved over the corpse of her boyfriend. Finally, she pulled herself together forcefully, and she slowly stood up, swallowing hard. She struggled to speak but finally got the words out. "We're having the funeral for him tonight. The same way we had one for mom" He had no one else. She knew how horrible his foster families had treated him, and he never really had anyone until he met Hope.
"Are you sure?" Rebekah questioned, walking closer to her as the tribrid turned to face her aunt, her face stained with tears. She wasn't sure if her niece could handle having that the same day that this had occurred.
Hope nodded. "He doesn't have anyone else" she said, swallowing hard. "The only person that might want to come is in another country. I can call- see if she wants to come and we can postpone, but-" She wasn't sure if she would be able to get the words out. To tell Lizzie, who didn't know him that well anyways. Not nearly as well as she did. And he and Finch worked together, but they weren't friends.
"I'll make the call. See if they want to come" The blonde original vampire put her hand on her niece's shoulder gently, and the tribrid let herself appreciate it briefly before moving away.
"We'll keep him over there" she said, gesturing to the house near the bayou. "Until we are ready. I'm going to stay with him" She sniffled a bit, unable to help herself as she struggled to hold back further tears.
"I'm not sure that's the best idea-" Kol began, looking at her in concern.
"I'm staying. End of story."
There was no wavering in her voice in that sentence, nothing but sheer determination to stay with the man she loved until it was time for the funeral. No one would have been able to pull her away from him unless Davina spelled her to sleep. As though every single one of them knew that, as though they could hear the determination in her voice or see it in her expression, not a single Mikaelson argued after that. Rebekah carried Landon to the small house that was no longer owned by anyone living.
Hope headed inside after her and took a seat beside the bed where Landon's body was laying. She didn't want to leave his side. Not for a single moment. "I want some time alone with him" she said, swallowing hard.
"Hope-"
"Please" Her voice cracked as she struggled to keep control of her emotions.
Rebekah was silent as she watched her niece. "For now" she said, finally. "We'll be back soon and bring you some food."
Hope wasn't sure she would be able to eat even a bite, but instead of arguing now (something she was too tired to do), the tribrid nodded a little, her gaze still on Landon. She didn't even look as her aunt left, her hand holding Landon's as she wished she could bring him back to life. But every resurrection spell she knew had consequences. If the consequences were on herself, she wouldn't have minded paying it, but there was no guarantee. If Landon had to suffer because she brought him back, she would never forgive herself, and if other people suffered as a result of her decisions, it would tear her apart. She would rather die than be the cause of innocents suffering at the hands of her spells.
Dying didn't seem too bad. She was tired, so tired of living and losing. Of moving and avoiding getting close to people. Every time she lost someone, this voice in her head told her it was her fault. That she shouldn't technically exist, that she was someone who should never have been born. Life was a constant cycle of love, lose, grieve, and repeat. But even if she died, she would come back. Besides, she wasn't suicidal just... tired. Tired of being stuck in that cycle that the man she had fallen in love with became a part of.
The tribrid let out a sigh and rested her head on the post of the bed, thinking about Landon and her parents and everyone that she knew had died because of her. Tears started pouring out of her eyes as her body shook with grief and guilt over things she had done that had played a part in each of their deaths, crying over the hole in her chest that never seemed to heal and had only gotten worse with this new loss. She wouldn't die, but maybe she should leave after the funeral. Leave her family and Lizzie, block herself from being tracked, and begin a new life. A life involving seclusion, even more than before. It wouldn't be easy without compulsion, but she would figure it out. At least that way, everyone would be safe from her.
Hope wasn't sure how long she had been there, but finally, her body was exhausted from the tears, the weight on her shoulders, and the hole in her heart where Landon had been. Still was and always would be. Loving him and being with him had made her feel better than she had in a long time. Now that that was gone, she felt pain and heartbreak, and she eventually fell asleep, her hand still clasped with his.
The Mikaelson house was pretty quiet except for the sound of the popcorn popping in the popcorn maker as Landon switched from one movie to the next. Hope Mikaelson stood next to the popcorn maker as it finished up before transferring the popcorn to a large bowl. "So what are we watching this time?" She asked finally as she carried over the bowl of popcorn to Landon and took a seat on the couch.
"How do you feel about watching a horror movie?" He asked, not wanting to just turn it on without her permission, knowing her past was rather painful. He had generally stuck to just scifi movies, but this time he had something else in mind.
"I don't mind them" Hope said. "I want to see movies you like, even horror ones. Which one?"
"Well, I was thinking The Evil Dead" Landon said. "If you don't like it, then we can switch to something else to watch."
"Well, lets get it started and find out" Hope said as she snuggled closer to him.
His arm wrapped around the tribrid, and he held her close as his other hand turned on the movie. As it began, he looked down at her as she stared at the tv screen, a smile forming on his face.. Hope didn't notice as she watched the tv, taking a bite of the popcorn she had carried over. The movie continued playing, and by the time it was over, the popcorn bowl was on the table, only halfway eaten as both of them had forgotten about it. Hope's interest had been caught in the movie, and Landon's interest in her reactions as well as the movie he liked. Finally, as it finished, Landon's phone chimed with a message from his boss, Damon Salvatore, who was the owner of the Mystic Grill.
"It's work. He wants me to come in because one of the workers that was supposed to be on shift got in an accident and can't make it." Landon said.
A small frown formed on Hope's face as she pulled away from him, having thought it was going to be a day off for him, but she nodded in understanding. Landon stood up to head out, and the tribrid quickly got up as well, grabbing his hand as he started to walk away and pulled her towards him,not wanting him to go just yet until she could say her goodbye. "Don't go. Not yet" She said, tugging him closer. unsure of why it was so important to have him so close to her to where she hadn't wanted to let him out of her sight. Her arms wrapped around him as she clung to him, feeling as though the goodbye was finite rather than temporary.
"I need to go. I'll be back soon. You'll see me again. I promise" Landon murmured in her ear. And with that, he vanished and so did her surroundings.
Hope was now standing in the cemetery in the pouring rain as she had her arms stretched out like she had just been hugging slowly lowered her arms and looked down at the gravestone before her that had some words etched in that were hard to make out, but she knew exactly whose grave it was. Landon Kirby. She swallowed hard and touched the gravestone, closing her eyes. "I'm sorry" she said softly. "I don't regret being with you, but I should have better protected you. You were the only person that isn't a family member that I couldn't stand the idea of losing. The first person I had opened myself up to that much since my mom died."
She stood by the gravestone, tears streaming down her face, though they weren't very visible, thanks to the rain pouring down on her face, only adding to her feeling as though she were drowning, drowning in grief and rain. She wasn't sure what else to say to him. After all, what could she say to him? Talking to the dead didn't get you anywhere, especially since there was no such thing as the Other Side anymore. Not that Landon would have been there anyway. She didn't have any words she could give that would change what had occurred or would make herself feel better.
Losing him was like having someone reach inside her body and crush her heart. There was no changing that, no getting better. Not really. The only thing she knew was that the memories of the way she loved him were the key to getting through this. If all she ever had were the memories of the way he loved her, she would survive, at least she hoped she could, even though surviving meant loneliness, meant standing in front of the grave of the person you loved that died and wishing you could have them back or join them so this constant suffering would stop weighing down on your shoulders. At least she still had the memories of the past couple of months. She knew she would hold that in her heart forever and not let go.
Her breath shook, and she fell to her knees, not wanting to walk away, not wanting to leave him even if it was just a gravestone and a corpse buried under dirt with no way of reaching out that didn't involve dark magic. Suddenly, the ground shook beneath her feet and she quickly got up in alarm. It seemed as though something was moving beneath her in the soil, but the only thing under her beyond bugs was -
"Landon?" she breathed out, struggling to consider the possibility that it could be him underneath. Chances are, it was some monster, some creature moving beneath the soil.
She hesitated before starting to move some of the soil to see what it was that was causing this. Suddenly, a hand burst from the soil, and she inhaled sharply, quickly getting up once more and taking the hand. She pulled on it, not daring herself yet to truly believe it was possible, butas she fell back and he landed on top of her, it was impossible not to recognize the person that she had helped get out from underneath the earth. Even with the dirt and the mud and grime on his face, she could see that it was the boy she loved who was staring back at her.
He moved off of her and sat on the dirt. "I told you that you would see me again," he said as he smiled at Hope as though he hadn't just climbed out of his own grave, as though he hadn't been struggling forthe oxygen he had been deprived of.
Hope didn't hesitate as she pulled him into a hug, clinging to him like her life depended on it but not enough to hurt him. She squeezed her eyes shut, afraid this was all a dream and that she was never going to get him back. "I never want to lose you again," she said, finally pulling away to look at him.
"You will. But I'll always come back. I'm always going to find you again" he told her.
She pulled him closer to her and started to kiss him, not wanting to ever be that far away from him again, never wanting to lose him or have to grieve him like that again, not if she could help it. "I have no idea how you are here," she said, her head resting against his. "But don't let me go."
He responded as a whisper against her lips. "Never"
Hope's eyes flew open as she let out a small gasp for air, feeling light and happy for a fleeting moment before reality sank in. Life wasn't going to be about resurrections for her. The Evil Dead style or otherwise. Landon was gone, and the only ways he would come back were far too dangerous for Hope to even properly consider. Too dangerous for Landon and everyone else that was around her, who could end up suffering at the hands of the dark magic it would take to perform a spell like that.
She blinked and took in her surroundings, noticing her hand was no longer clasped in Landon's. She had slid to the ground during her slumber, rather than continuing to rest leaning up against the bed. Maybe it was for the best. She knew it was probably not the best idea to just be sitting next to and sleeping by the body of your dead lover, but she couldn't help it. She was going to say goodbye tonight and burn him Viking-style in the bayou. Until then, she didn't want to leave his side. Even if it was probably for the best.
She reached back out for his hand but stopped herself, knowing it was no good to cling to her desires that he would wake up and reunite with her. He was gone, and she couldn't just hold him and never let go. She had to let him go, no matter how much it hurt. Hope was considering getting up and moving around, but that was before she noticed something was in Landon's pocket. She frowned curiously and hesitated feeling as though it were an invasion of privacy even though he was too dead to be able to know or care that she would take it, but finally, she reached inside the jacket pocket and pulled out a small palm-sized bag that was stuffed carefully inside it. Inside the bag were charms, and when she reached inside and pulled them out, she saw what they were. It was an assortment of art, wolf-related, and one with the word Hope engraved on it.
She blinked back tears that threatened to resurface, and she forced herself to pull together her emotions as she stood up, still holding the charm in her hand. On her wrist was a charm bracelet with only a couple of charms on it, and as she took a seat at the table and took off her bracelet, she began putting the charms on the bracelet, not wanting to lose them and always wanting a piece of him close. She knew these were intended to be a gift for her, and for all she knew, he had bought it in The French Quarter, that these charms were the reason he had left her side despite the dangers New Orleans could bring. Then again, it was a vacation. She couldn't spend every moment in fear something was going to happen. But wasn't her not worrying about it exactly what caused the window of opportunity for him to disappear?
She let out a heavy sigh as her aunt Rebekah came inside the cabin and walked over to her. "Everyone else is outside if you want to talk to them"
"I- I don't really want to talk to anyone right now," she said, staring at the wooden texture of the table.
"Shutting us all out is not the answer," Rebekah said. "We all love you and worry about you'
Hope was silent for a moment. "He bought me charms. I guess he was going to get them for my birthday, but he never got the chance" she said, her voice quiet as she touched the miniature crescent moon charm that was on her bracelet.
"They're lovely," Her aunt said softly as she sat beside Hope and looked at the new charms she had on her bracelet.
"I was thinking I might put one on a necklace to have over my heart, but I haven't decided which one"
"You have plenty of time to make that decision"
Hope gave her aunt a small smile before she caught the scent of smoke from the other side of the room where Landon was. She got up in alert, and so did Rebekah, both staring at the smoke starting to rise up around his body. It seemed as though the other members of her family smelled it as well because they all came in rather quickly to see what had happened.
"Adiuuatur" Hope said, her hand out as she tried to magically stop the fire, but it wasn't working.
The smoke continued to rise. Davina tried to put it out as well but magic wasn't working. All of the Mikaelsons were wondering what was occurring, why the spells to put the fire out weren't working, and while none of them spoke the question in their minds, they all stayed to watch as Landon's body suddenly caught fire. Landon broke free of the shell around his body and got off of the now burnt bed. Covered from head to toe in ash, he looked around in confusion, unaware of what had just happened to him besides the memory that he had died.
"What is going on?" he questioned, looking around at all of them. "What happened?"
Hope didn't hesitate as she rushed into his arms. He caught her and held her close to him, still a bit confused about what exactly happened and why he was covered in ash but suddenly knowing it could wait. All that mattered was holding Hope close to him. "Don't let me go" she whispered in his ear, too caught up in the moment to realize she was mirroring her dream.
"Never" he murmured in her ear as he continued to hold her.
A couple of hours later, the tribrid was in bed with the boy she loved, her head on his chest as she listened to his heartbeat, not wanting it to stop. When she was told he had died and then even worse when she saw his body, it had nearly destroyed her. Landon was someone she had an unexplainable strong bond with her, a bond she had never expected to form when she moved into Mystic Falls, a bond that had been incredibly difficult to ignore and fight until she finally gave in and began a relationship with him. She didn't regret loving him, but she did blame herself for his death. And now, somehow, he was here right beside her. And she wasn't sure she could handle it if he died and didn't resurrect in flames.
He had his arms wrapped around her waist, thinking of the explanation Hope and the others had given him earlier, how he had been dead for hours before suddenly becoming on fire and rising from the ashes. His mind was racing on what that could mean and how badly this must have affected Hope. He had a theory about what he could be, but now wasn't the time to discuss it. Besides, there was a chance he could be wrong. He shook himself out of those thoughts and looked back down at Hope, thinking, as he rubbed his hand gently on her arm, comforting the mix of pain and relief he knew she was experiencing.
"I noticed you found the charms I was going to give you," Landon said, looking down at her wrist and touching the charms that were on it. "I was going to give them to you for your birthday coming up, but I guess it's an early birthday gift for you now."
"I meant to thank you for these, but I've been so caught up in the fact you are breathing again," Hope said. "I am planning to wear one of them around my neck, but I haven't figured out which one."
"Well, there's no rush. You have plenty of time to decide."
She smiled a little at that, and they returned to silence, Hope not really wanting to talk much after the events of the day, instead just enjoying his presence, the sound of his beating heart. Finally, the tribrid spoke up, her voice quiet as she kept her head on his chest, "I felt it"
"Felt what?" Landon asked, looking at her, confused.
"I knew you died. Something just felt off and wrong inside of me, and it didn't feel right again until you came back to life. I knew something horribly had happened to you. I don't know how, but I did" Hope said, her gaze raising so she could see his face.
Landon wasn't sure what to say to that, but he hugged her tighter and kissed the top of her head, knowing how much that had to have caused her pain even before she saw his body. "I wish you didn't have to go through that."
"Me too. I had a dream about you after I fell asleep next to your body"
"What was it about? I mean, do you want to talk about it?"
"I'll tell you more about it later, but I think- no, I know... it was about you coming back to life. It was my mind telling me you weren't gone forever. I've had brief psychic-like moments in the past. I mean, all witches do a little bit but usually, it's just really small things. For me though, it's rare but important. And I think that's what happened today."
"You're probably right. I'm glad your psychic abilities gave you a heads-up that I was coming back. I mean, I know you probably didn't believe it, but it was trying to tell you. I just wish you had known for sure, but how could you have when even I didn't know? It wasn't as if I have ever died before."
"And I don't want you to die again, even if you can come back in a burst of flames," Hope said softly. "Though I am glad that, if this is your ability, which I think it is because Kol has never heard of anyone coming back to life like that, then I'm glad you don't stay dead, that you won't stay dead if something does happen again."
"And I'm glad that that gives you some comfort. Because I have no intentions of dying for good and leaving you behind if I can help it. We're in this together." Landon said, tucking her hair behind her ear.
Hope leaned up and pressed her lips to his for a moment, enjoying the fact that she could kiss him again. Then she pulled away and snuggled back against his chest, feeling at peace now that she had him back and alive in her life. Her eyes started to drift shut, despite the fact she had just woken up a couple of hours the couple rested and enjoyed the fact they were still able to here together.
