"Hey Mrs. Cheng," Lucy said over the phone. "Marinette wore herself out after class today running from that stone monster. Can she stay here at the hotel for tonight?"
"Of course, Chloe." Sabine's warm voice came back, making Lucy miss her real mother badly. "Tell her to rest well and come home after school tomorrow. Your mother isn't home tonight?"
Lucy rolled her eyes. It would take a miracle to get Audrey to come back to Paris for longer than a single day. Not that Lucy wanted to see that brat of a mother.
"No, thankfully. Otherwise I would have to send Armand to bring her home instead."
There was a pause. "You know, our offer to come live with us still stands."
She gulped. It was always so hard to turn Sabine down. "I know. But my parents would throw their weight around and cause trouble. I would rather not visit that on you, Mrs. Cheng."
There was a pause that told Lucy what Sabine thought of her 'parents' weight.
"I understand and appreciate your consideration. I know it hurts you to act like your mother though. If it ever becomes too much…" she trailed off.
Lucy shook her head to clear her tearing eyes. "I'll tell you first, I promise."
"That's all I ask, dear. Know you always have a place here, Chloe."
The line died, and Lucy tossed the phone onto the couch before collapsing on the bed next to the dozing Wendy.
She heard a soft voice beside her. "Are you afraid if you allow them to love you, you won't want to go home again?"
Lucy laughed as she rolled over to look into Wendy's brown eyes. How had she not noticed how beautiful they were back in their world. Maybe it had been the age difference.
She shook her head, forcing herself to remember Natsu and Nasha. She would not give up that dream for anything, no matter how it stung. She had fallen in love with Wendy since their exile here, more than her feelings for Natsu. But Wnedy had been so much younger than she was back in Earthland and it would betray Natsu. Her traitor brain reminded her that Natsu had never confessed to her or asked her to be his. It would not really be a betrayal to embrace her love of the girl next to her.
"No," she said after considering it, trying to force her brain not to picture an older Wendy with her. "Nothing will stop me from going home to Fairy Tail, even as nothing will stop you. But it will hurt more if I come to see them as my parents."
Wendy nodded in understanding. Lucy wondered if she felt the same love as she did. She knew there were rumors of Wendy and Chelia, but that might just be friendship after all.
"Lucy, we really need to find your keys. The longer we spend here, the more our friends might need us. Surely by now our master has…"
Lucy reached over and put a finger to Wendy's lips, stopping her from speaking. "No, please don't say it. I couldn't bare going back, only to find out our Master had passed away. To us wayward children of Fairy Tail, he has been a grandfather. I knew had a grandparent; you know. Both my parents lost theirs at a young age."
Wendy smiled. "I understand. Fairy Tail was my first real family that wasn't an illusion. I want to go home so bad, Lucy."
Lucy reached out and pulled Wendy to rest against her. She felt Wendy melt into her embrace as she lay together. "We will. We will find a way, Wendy." She reached out and stroked the girl's hair.
She wondered if it was right for her to love Wendy. Mentally, they were both way older than they appeared. If you wanted to get technical about it, Wendy was several centuries old. Still, she did not act on her feelings. She was unsure if she should.
Wendy was soon sleeping in her arms and Lucy allowed her heart free reign as she did not struggle with her emotions. She just allowed herself to be in love with the girl next to her for the time being. And it felt so right.
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
The next day at school, Alya was looking differently at the girl beside her. She looked back to normal, not that tired girl that Chloe had carried off the battlefield. That was another thing. Chloe had acted so different when she was in the arena than she was acting now. She was teasing Marinette about various things, but Alya noticed no real bite to anything Chloe said. It was more like a girl teasing a clueless boy she liked.
Still, she could not get the image of Marinette, arms spread wide as she pulled that massive wind funnel in and fired off that Sky Drill attack to defeat Stoneheart. She felt Tikki pat her thigh and looked down at the small god who was giving her a look of encouragement.
She saw Marinette look at her sharply from the side for a second but looked away as Tikki ducked back down. She wondered if Marinette had noticed the Kwami.
There was a new student, a boy named Adrein that Chloe put in the seat next to a boy named Nino. Adrien looked like a fish out of water as class began. She felt bad for him, she knew all too well what it was like to be a new kid in a class as established as this one clearly was. She made a note to talk to him later.
Once lunch started, she joined Rose, Mylene, Juleka, Alix, and Sabrina as they had invited her to eat with them. She noticed Marinette and Chloe had left to eat at home.
"So, what's the deal with Chloe teasing Marinette all the time?" She asked the other girls.
They exchanged looks. "You mean other than Chloe wanting to kiss Marinette?" Rose laughed. So, the others had seen it too.
"Chloe's mother is a major fashion icon." Sabrina relayed this to Alya. "That comes with expectations on her children. Such as being little clones of her. She won't accept Chloe needing anyone else and expects her to bully and use others as if they were disposable. Chloe doesn't like it, but for some reason refuses to openly defy her mother. So, she picks on Marinette so reports of her bullying get back to her mother. She sometimes throws her daddy's name around too, but if someone really pushes their issue, she never follows through on a 'threat'."
Alix nodded. "It's like she is checking a box to make sure she's just enough of a bully by picking on Marinette without actually being a real bully. We all act like we are scared of her though, in case her mother does another surprise visit."
"Has Marinette ever shown off any strange skills?" Alya asked carefully.
The girls laughed again. "She has super klutziness," Julika replied softly, Alya could barely make out what she said.
"Don't forget her magic power," Alix smirked. "Every time we ride on the bus, she gets super sick. Spends most of the trip on Chloe's lap while the girl teases her. Chloe looks happiest in that situation."
Alya pondered this. She kind of felt bad for Chloe, having a mother like that. Plus she had to admit, Marinette did not seem in the least bothered by the teasing.
"It's sweet of you to worry about Marinette," Rose told her. "But if Chloe was really bothering her, I doubt she would tolerate it. Marinette can be feisty when she's angry."
Alya recalled the way the girl had thrown her head back and roared at the Akuma, as if she was an angry dragon. For a brief moment, the girl had been gone and a white feathery dragon had been superimposed where she was standing. It had been terrifying.
Alya seriously hoped that her time as Scarabella would not require her to be looked at with those angry eyes.
Rose got up. "I need to go help Ivan for a bit. Marinette said he was crushing on someone and it sounds like they need an angel of love to intervene."
Alya wondered what made Rose qualified but did not speak her thought as Rose ran off.
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
Wendy was not ready when she got back to school and a group of those rocky giants jumped her.
"Ivan…" She started to say in confusion when she was punched from behind without her defensive spells on. She gasped in pain as she fell over, struggling to move.
"Master said to bring you and your friends to the Eifel Tower." One of the stone monsters rumbled.
She thanked Grandeena that she had such a durable body, had she been a normal girl or even a wizard, like Lucy, that likely would have knocked her out. Her draconic heritage allowed her to recover quickly but not fast enough to fight back as she was scooped up and carried off. She saw other giants carrying her other classmates, including a struggling Lucy.
Soon, they formed a large ring at the base of the French landmark and dropped their prisoners in the center. Stoneheart stood above them, looking downward. She wondered what had set him off again, then he noticed Kim was once again clutched in one of those stone hands. Mylene was in the other. She grimaced. She had suggested earlier that Rose help Ivan with Mylene and the blonde had only been too happy to oblige. She wondered if that had been a mistake.
Stoneheart gestured towards her. "Well, Marinette. Shall we see if you can best my army of Stone giants?"
She gulped. She had been able to best Stoneheart because he was alone. An entire army though, that would be impossible even if she used Dragon Force and every drop of the immense power she inherited from Irene, the Mother of Dragon Slayers.
"Let me make myself clear," He called down. "If you don't, Kim here is going to get a flying lesson."
She sighed. Kim was a pain but he didn't deserve that fate.
"Alright, I'll fight." She stepped forward and she felt Lucy's hand on her shoulder.
"I'll fight too." The blonde said firmly.
Truth be told if Lucy was at her side, Wendy was sure she could win. But Lucy did not have her eyes or her magical whip that Virgo had given her. Even with physical enhancements, she would not last long with a Star Dress.
"Can you use your Hyper Magic without a Star Dress?" She asked as she looked at the army around them cracking their fists.
"No…" Lucy admitted softly.
"Then I better do this alone. I don't want you to get hurt."
Wendy reached out, not caring if anyone saw her, and hugged Lucy tightly. Lucy was crying.
"I don't want you to get hurt, either." She felt Lucy hold her tightly.
In that moment, Wendy understood for Lucy, something had changed. They would need to talk about it, when an army was not breathing down their necks.
"I'll be fine. After all, there is a fire burning in my belly." Wendy banged her fists together and Lucy smiled warmly.
"Alright, don't lose, Wendy."
"Never," Wendy called her power and felt her ether approaching its critical point. She consumed the raw ether in the air, tipping it over the edge.
"RAH!" She shouted as her body underwent Dragon Force transformation.
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
Alya was trapped. She had been grabbed like everyone else and brought to the Tower. She hoped Chat Noir was free and could come and help. She looked over at Marinette who was being hugged by Chloe. Then Marinette stepped forward, answering the challenge of Stoneheart.
She wanted to cry out to the smaller girl but could not. She had seen Marinette battle Stoneheart yesterday. She hoped the girl could pull another miracle.
Then, Marinette changed. She crossed her arms and pink light infused her body. When the light faded, Marinette's arms and ankles were covered in cuffs of white feathers. Two white feathered wings spread from her back, somehow passing through the fabric of her shirt without ripping it. Her hair was standing up and was bright pink like she was some kind of Super Saiyan from Dragon Ball Z. Then there were her eyes. Alya had though Marinette's eyes were scary when she was battling Stoneheart yesterday. Now, however, they looked downright feral. Then she heard Chloe say:
"The closest humans can come to the power of a dragon without becoming one themselves. This is Dragon Force."
Dragon Force, Alya thought. Yes, it did seem as if Marinette was radiating with dragon power. Then she vanished. Alya looked around but it was like trying to spot the wind. There was no trace of the pink haired girl.
All of a sudden, two of the servants turned into purple bubbles, and the victims within fell to the ground. Marinette appeared the two butterflies she had just freed trapped within a vortex of wind above her hand.
"Enough of this, Stoneheart. Tell the mastermind behind this to come face me himself."
"Ha, he says to crush you. Get her!" He called to his army. They charged her.
"Natsu…" She called. "Please lend me your courage and strength."
She rushed forward and flipped as she threw two blades of wind at two of the coming foes."
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
Lucy was torn as she watched Wendy battling the Stone servants. She understood why she could not help, but it was driving her crazy. She and Wendy had been close over the years they had been in Fairy Tail together. From battling villains to facing down world ending threats, they had faced it as a guild and a team. But here, they only had each other. There was no Gray, no Erza, no Natsu to rely on. It killed her inside to watch Wendy putting her life on the line and not be able to help.
She had started strong, but even Dragon Force and her enchantment spell could not allow her to overcome sheer numbers, which is what Stoneheart brought to bear against her.
She would free a victim and trap its butterfly in her vortex, she would then get slugged by a servant from the side or behind. The blows weren't doing much, the damage would add up. Then it happened.
Wendy went to block a clumsy blow when another servant come up and struck her in the stomach. Wendy cried out in pain and was sent hurtling backward into the ring of stone giants. They pushed her back into the center but Lucy could tell her guildmate could not survive another blow.
She dived out of the crowd with the others and ran forward. The others were still too stunned staring at Marinette's pink hair and wings to notice.
"No, WENDY!" She yelled as she pulled the girl into a hug to shelter her from a coming blow.
"Lucy, move!" Wendy exclaimed.
"No, I won't let them separate us."
"I… I understand." Wendy hugged her back as a rain of blows started to fall on the two girls. Blows that never connected.
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
Tikki was doing her best to not cry out each time Marinette was hit. This was the girl that should have been her bug, had she not already had her own powers. But those powers did not make her invulnerable to the Akuma's attacks the way a Miraculous would. Marinette was tiring quickly. Then, the holster with the keys in it started to glow brightly.
"What…" Tikki started before the holster shot out Alya's bag and flew over to where the girls were bracing for their end. Then there was a mighty flash of light all the stone giants around the two girls was knocked away.
"Sheesh, I take one little nap and this happens." Said the voice of a guy as the light faded. A man with orange spiked hair stood there, sun glasses on and a suit far too cool to be fighting in. His fist was glowing with the same golden light.
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
Wendy was sure the end was at hand when she and Lucy pulled each other close. She would never get to tell Lucy or Natsu how she felt, as she realized at that moment. At least she would die in Lucy's arms.
Then a leather holster glowing golden had flown to Lucy's hand and a brilliant golden light had blown all the giants away.
She looked up to see Loke, also known as Leo the Leader of the Zodiac, standing before them. She felt her Dragon Force fade and knew between the magic power she had expended and the damage she had taken, she would not be calling on it again today.
"Loke…" She heard Lucy say in surprise.
"Sheesh. I take one little nap and this happens." He reached up to push up his shades. "Leave this to me, you two."
He jumped forward and presented his fist. "Oh, divine Regulas!"
He punched forward and turned several victims back to normal. Lucy got up and pulled out a key.
"Like I'm just going to sit and watch. Star Dress, Aquarius!" She called and her outfit changed.
Wendy felt her cheeks blush as she saw the usual swimsuit, though Lucy had not yet gained her assists that had filled it out so nicely. Wendy was ready to be jealous when that day came.
Lucy raised her arms and started to chant.
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
Alya did not know what to think. A cool dude had appeared from nowhere and saved Marinette and Chloe. Then Chloe had taken a golden key from the holster and changed into a swimsuit. What was even happening?
Then Chloe had raised her arms. Alya could feel the power growing. Chloe was chanting.
"Survey the Heavens, Open the Heavens…"
Alya saw the Mayor rushing forward.
"Chloe, dear. What are you wearing? Get away from those giants."
Alya saw the man in the suit drag him backward. "Don't get too close. You'll mess up her casting."
"Casting.." The confused man asked.
"All the Stars, far and wide. Show me thy appearance…"
Stoneheart roared at his minions. "Don't let her finish."
The giants started forward but the suited man's foot turned golden as he knocked several back. Then Marinette jumped at the rest, flinging her arms out.
"Sky Dragon… WING ATTACK!"
The wind sent the attackers backward as well.
"With such Shine. Oh Tetrabiblos…"
The chanting continued as the two defenders kept the attackers back.
"I am the ruler of the Stars…" Chloe chanted. Alya wondered how arrogant you had to be to name yourself the Ruler of the Stars. Or… how powerful.
"Aspect become complete… Open thy malevolent Gate."
A massive golden circle appeared under Chloe and Marinette and the man jumped away as the giants tried and failed to enter the magic circle.
"Oh 88 Stars of the heaven… SHINE! URANO METRIA!"
The world changed around them, and glittering balls descended from the heavens. The space around them changed to the black of space with glittering stars. The glowing balls changed into missiles that fired out and freed each victim from their butterflies.
Marinette resumed her capture of the purple butterflies, pulling each one into her vortex. Finally, she had captured them all including the one from Stoneheart, who changed back to Ivan. Mylene and Kim dropped to the tower railing beside him as he looked around in confusion.
"Separation Enchantment!" Marinette called and she waved a hand at the butterflies. The purple light split from them and formed a massive orb as each butterfly turned white. Once they were all clean, she released her vortex.
"Bye-bye, little butterflies." She called to them as they flew off. The orb of dark power vanished as if it had been recalled. The moment it did, like a Marionette with it's string cut, Marinette fell to her knees and the ground.
"Wendy!" Chloe called and started towards the down girl. Alya had noticed Marinette had called her Lucy too. But Chloe only got three steps before she two crumpled to the ground, the swimsuit vanishing to be replaced with her normal clothes.
The man scooped them up. "Well, this has been fun. See you later."
He saluted and took off over the rooftops. Alya sighed in relief and looked around. Everyone was strangely quiet. That was when she noticed they all had glassy expressions.
"What's wrong…" Alya asked. Tikki hissed from her purse.
"It was Marinette. She didn't just separate the butterfly from the power of the Moth miraculous. She also took the memories of everyone watching. Your miraculous protected you but no one else is going to remember any of this."
She looked up in confusion at the wreckage around them and slipped off to transform. Soon the magical ladybugs were fixing the damage caused in the fight.
"Will this heal the girl that got hurt?" Chat Noir asked as he landed beside her. "Sorry, was watching the fight too."
Many if so much had not been dumped on her at once, Alya might have questioned why Chat Noir had seen the fight. However, she was much too distracted to notice the slip.
"I hope so. She took some bad knocks from those giants." She acknowledged. "We need to be more productive. We cannot leave all those fights to those girls."
He saluted. "I agree. Come on, let's go and introduce ourselves to Paris. Maybe that will get those girls to relax a little and not start every fight."
*Fairy Tail X Miraculous*
A shadowy figure watched from the top of the Tower. He had nearly jumped into the fight to help the blue-haired girl and the blonde-haired girl but had held back. He turned around and stalked off. Perhaps next time.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed this chapter. If you notice, I now am making this a different kind of ship as well as expanding my idea. I will be editing the tags as well though will be keeping some stuff hidden until it is revealed. See you next chapter for more!
