The next morning they told their wives that they needed to go to Wakanda on a little trading trip since in the many years of their absence they found over sixty new metals that they need to introduce to Wakanda so they can start trying to process them and this will eventually be good for the Savage Kingdom.
Their wives knew that they were too busy to go with them, but they still worried and just told them that at least promise to return to them and be safe. Peter and Harry told them both that since they have much more power than before, and with the help of the symbiotes they would be pretty hard to injure, so they should be fine.
Peter's wife asked how much metal will they be delivering, and with as little concern as possible, Peter simply said about sixty-seven metric tons. Thanks to the powers they obtain at Oa they can carry that much easier, so there was no need to be concerned.
The trip was a lot faster since they could use the power of the ring to instantly go to any place they had been before, well not Atlantis since currently, it is deep underwater, and they also sort of figured that even if there were survivors they wouldn't exactly be too happy to see them.
They managed to make it to the center of the capital, they wanted to visit the chieftain and his family to hear about anything that happened, well there were new descendants of the chieftain that they didn't know about, after thousands of years that were bound to happen.
They at first thought that they wouldn't know who they were, but that turned out to be a needless worry, they knew exactly who they were and treated them as long-time family friends. The time they first met became a sort of family story and they have been telling those stories from one generation to the next.
The white tiger they once knew later married and had a lot of kids, Harry could only feel pity for the pour unfortunate soul that became her husband. The other thing is that they had now a total of eight protectors, apparently the Weaver Clan finally made it known that they too worshipped their deity, a spider deity.
So for thousands of years these eight protectors have been keeping the peace in Wakanda, the chieftain asked Peter what brought them back to the country, it was not like they just came to catch up. Peter laughed and told them that they found many new metals due to their travels.
Their alliance had a provision where the members share their knowledge so to find these new metals they had to come and deliver them to Wakanda so they could experiment with them to see and find useful ways to use these new metals. However, they need a large place to unload all the metal they brought with them.
The chieftain told them that was no problem at all and took them to a vast underground storage chamber where they stored metal for later use, the fact that the entrance was constantly guarded means they thought of this storage to be rather important.
Immediately Harry began to lay flags with different names of metals all over the storage chamber, and Peter began to tell them about some of the dangers some of these metals had and the unique properties of each one as Harry began to unload a ton of each metal at the place where he had placed the flag, one neat pile after another.
It took then three hours to explain but at the end over sixty types of metals were placed at flagged locations with the names of each metal, and that is when the chieftain asked how much of it did they bring, Harry told him over sixty tons, one ton of each metal they found in their travels, not much, but plenty for them to experiment with.
The chieftain's wife asked how could they find so many metals and so much, Peter laughed and told her that flying through space does give a person many chances to explore, otherwise flying through space can get pretty boring if they had nothing else to do.
Some of her kids wanted to know how it was to go to other planets and meet alien species, as they were invited to eat dinner with the rest of the Chieftain's family, "To you they are aliens, to them we were the aliens, it is all a matter of perspective, some planets are rather nice to look at, plants you have never seen before, and some have things you would never imagine."
As they ate dinner the children kept asking about the wonders and sometimes frightening tales about visiting other worlds, Peter was more than happy to oblige as he told the stories that would make many other people pale from sheer fright. The kids however loved it.
Harry on the other hand was reading and doing something that Peter was not expecting, reading the latest blacksmithing techniques and trying to find ways to make their metal forging and blacksmithing a little more efficient, he had spent some time talking with the people that made the power rings and had learned quite a bit of their techniques.
Peter was upset when he saw him do that and accused him that while he is having fun with the children of the Chieftain all Harry was doing was focusing on either research or business. Harry simply finish making his notes on the last research material he was reading and told him that someone had to.
Peter asked him why didn't he spend some time with the children, maybe this will remind him of what was like spending time with his kids. Harry told him that was the reason why he didn't spend time with kids because they remind him of the children he had and watched as they grew old and died.
"I wouldn't wish this sort of pain on my worst enemy, to see your children die it feels more painful than if someone punched a hole in their chest and pulled out their heart, at least that pain ends, this pain doesn't."
Peter asked if they had to get a hotel room since they pretty much figured their old home would be pretty much a ruin after thousands of years, to which the Chieftain laughed and told them both that their home was very well taken care of since eventually, it came to reside within what some would call the palace garden.
The Chieftain and his wife asked them what do they plan to do? They decided that they simply would take some time to explore the continent and maybe even find a friend or two that neither they nor themselves knew of.
They certainly never expect them to not only keep the place maintained but they even made some updates to the place, the bed is bigger, the bathroom now has a bathtub that could feet them and their wives, and the pipes would not crack due to ice, and to make matters even better an exercise area with full weights and a sauna.
They sadly could only stay for a night, they had a lot of the continent they had not explored, and to make matters worse they knew that two visitors from space would eventually crash-land on Earth so they had to get the area ready for when that happened.
The next day they decided to go and find the supposed location of the Gorilla City, as they said goodbye to their friends they went to look for it in the jungles of the Congo. As they spent three months looking for the place, one day they heard two people arguing with each other but the voices didn't sound like anything they heard before until they realized the two talking were gorillas and they were arguing about their belief that outsiders were useless.
Peter and Harry decide to follow them back to their home and they found that they walked right through and disappeared, immediately Harry thought that this was optic camouflage, and so he and Peter did the same thing as they saw the two gorillas do.
They entered and found that indeed there was a massive optical camouflage covering a massive part of what seemed to others to be an impassible forest, in reality, it was a massive city with many gorillas going on and about their daily lives. Harry had to admit that the level of technology was more impressive than anything they had seen in the current time.
Peter had to agree that this level of technology they only had seen on other planets like Oa, was very impressive, and made him say that the city is truly a wonder of scientific knowledge.
That is when a gruff and older voice was heard, "For intruders, you seem a lot wiser than the people that mistakenly get into our city, I have to say that I find it rather flattering that you can understand and appreciate the beauty of our city. I gathered you came here for a purpose, and we have detected a power ring on both of you, which is why our guards didn't try to capture you."
Harry told them that indeed they know the Guardians of the Universe and the Lantern Corps, but they came to try and form a friendly alliance with them to introduce them to their friends, their main goal is not anything that they should worry about it is to make a better and brighter future for everyone.
The old gorilla looked at him and began to laugh saying many men have gone to new cultures saying they come in peace only to later turn out to be conquerors who want to lull their future victims into a false sense of security, why would he and his friend be any different?
Peter simply said that if they had been conquerors like he suspects they wouldn't even be having a friendly conversation, and both he and Harry were powerful enough to defeat all of them if that was their true intentions, no need to deceive when they can do that.
"Look, I get it, you don't trust us, and more than likely guards are aiming their weapons at us, but it is pretty useless for two reasons, we can see them, and second, like my friend said we are trying to become your friends, you might not recognize this but having friends could one day mean the difference between life and death. Strength in numbers as they say."
This made the old gorilla relax and decided to give them the benefit of doubt as he guided him towards his home, his wife and children were in what essentially was their front garden as they saw the two of them the children came over to ask them questions.
Peter and Harry smiled at the kids and decided to answer their questions as kindly as they would answer questions from their kids when they were alive, this caught the adult gorillas by surprise and they saw how happy their children were as they left back to their rooms to talk about what they learned.
"You have a way with kids, most people would have lost their patience but you simply answered their questions in ways they could understand. Do you have children of your own?" The female gorilla asked.
Harry told her that they had children once, long ago, this made the female realize the meaning behind their words and realized that these two had children but sadly they had seen them die. Peter simply began to laugh, "Some people say patience comes with age, and we might not look it but we are thousands of years old."
Harry smiled and asked if they were about to have dinner. If so, they could wait outside for them and their children to enjoy their meals without any distractions. Both gorilla parents began to laugh and said that if they came to become friends, well sharing a meal would be a wonderful way to start making a friendship.
The male gorilla looked at them and smiled, "And much like my children, I too have many questions, you seem to know what our technology is and what other scientific developments we have accomplished here, shouldn't be surprising if you know the Guardians of Oa, but never the less I have questions, care to answer them while we all share a meal?"
Harry said that if there were any complaints it was that he didn't arrive sooner to help his wife prepare that meal, she smiled and told him and his friend the thought was more than enough.
As they both lead him inside the home they saw that the home indeed had been made to make moving around a lot easier for their species, everything was larger and sturdier, the doorways and seats were more curved than they ever saw before, and it was easy to see they were designed with comfort in mind.
As they began to eat their meal, the male gorilla asked Harry what exactly would benefit their city and their people if they join their friendly alliance, he simply said that those in the alliance share their knowledge, for the betterment and prosperity of all. Harry told him that for instance they have knowledge from other planets and have access to over sixty rare metals they can provide for them to experiment on.
"We are the champions of the Goddess Arachne, as such we were given a mission to come to this universe and to do everything in our power to make this universe better and improve the lives of the people. We have strived to do that, which is why we formed alliances which in turn help each culture that joins it to become better."
"It has not always been easy, sometimes we must show our strength, sometimes we were tested in other ways, and a few times we simply had no chance to become their friends because they simply would never even consider it, if we had to say anything, it is this our intentions for you and your people are in good faith, and we truly just want to become your friend, believe it."
This made the couple relax as they saw these two humans had no intentions at all to harm their city, culture, or people and helping each other to advance in terms of knowledge, and technology and be able to defend each other from horrible threats that come from outside their planet was a good idea.
They talked about potential dangers from outer space, many criminals, and some outright vicious or even cruel acts that someone might think that they can get away with it because they think the planet is a backwaters defenseless planet.
As far as they understood it improving their ability to communicate and respond to threats be they from attacks to outbreaks of plagues and pathogens could make a difference for them, and the fact that working together would expand their scientific and ability to defend themselves exponentially, a new perspective can lead to amazing discoveries and inventions.
Working with more people who also share what they know will provide them with different views on their research and thus spark new and beneficial ideas. Harry even went further to tell them that at one point the world's nations will eventually realize that working together is far better than not, and having connections with a place like Wakanda could even get Gorilla City recognized as their nation.
This means that their people will have to be recognized as no different than humans, and every instance where their people got murdered and labeled the act as poaching, will then be recognized as something as what it is, murder, but Harry did mention that this will, however, be a very slow process that would take many thousands of years.
This made the couple realize that they needed to speak with the assembly of the city, and as soon as more people heard it, more people realized that these two strangers were correct, and it was high time for them to form diplomatic relations with their neighboring countries at the very least.
The elders approved that diplomatic relations should at the very least be established with Wakanda which was the nearest country to Gorilla City. Having two long-time friends of that nation tell them he gave these elders hope that such an effort would be fruitful.
Much like they have done in other places, Peter, Harry, and their wives practically lived in Gorilla City, their tireless work to improve the already advanced technology of the city had earned them a lot of praise and gratitude from the citizenry, in fact, after living and working had to improve relations between Gorilla City and other nations, they were practically treated as fellow citizens.
At first, the people of Gorilla City felt weird at looking at them, but as time went by they realized that they were no different than themselves. They being immortal had watched many couples marry, have children, grow old and die, it was simply something they had come to understand.
After twenty-four hundred years, Peter reminded Harry that it was time for them to go and help the two people they had been planning to aid for many years, the two people that would soon crash-land on the land that will be called Egypt.
Their wives, of course, would continue their current research projects about perfecting and making a way to produce clean energy, if this was possible it could mean according to Harry making the use of fossil fuels not even necessary, much less coal.
This would prevent the pollution of the environment, and since the technology was developed in Africa, well the people would have a much higher standard of living, which means many of the wars that plagued the region would never come to pass. If this worked it could be the continent's equivalent to a golden age.
Peter and Harry went to the place where these two Thanagarian law enforcement officers would come to crash land, and they waited for days on end, they prepared the area in case they needed some medical attention, and in fact, they made a pretty safe landing spot.
After two months of waiting the ship finally came crashing down, Harry was first to get one of the two of them out of the ship, a female officer and Peter helped with the male officer that remained.
"Easy there miss, you may have suffered some injuries due to your crash, I need to see if you need any medical attention, do you feel pain or discomfort anywhere? Blurred vision? Anything you can tell me?" She laughed and said that she was fine, and if she was her fellow officer would also be fine, but she did appreciate the concern.
"Do not worry, you find yourself in Sector 2814, do not worry we know of your people, but what I wonder is what brings such a beauty such as yourself to such a remote sector of space?" She blushed and said that they had initially come pursuing a criminal but sadly their ship was damaged in the attempt to capture the criminal so they had to crash land on the planet.
"There is nothing for you to worry about, we know quite a few things that your people can survive on, and in fact, I and my friend had a feeling that someone might come here, hence why we have so much ready for what we felt was an emergency landing." She laughed and looked at Peter who was helping put her fellow officers' arms in a sling.
It appears he did suffer an injury to one of his arms. So she decided to see what was wrong with him, as she went to Peter he asked him what her friend's injuries were, Peter simply told him nothing major just a broken bone in the wrist, and a dislocated shoulder, both would heal in a matter of a few weeks.
They looked at both Peter and Harry and the man decided to introduce himself as Katar Hol and the lady with him was Chay-Ara. This was when Peter told them that they are here to provide them with any aid they may require, he did promise that they would at least provide them for the moment a place to sleep and a meal.
They both looked at Peter and said that they didn't want to seem to take advantage of two people they just met, to which Peter said they were not, Peter and Harry were just helping two friends who had a terrible accident, what else could they do for their friends?
"In order words, your landing was not much of a surprise, or unexpected, in fact, Peter's ability to sense danger and disasters borders on precognition. We are the champions of the Spider Goddess Arachne, be at ease, the aid we provide is not going to be any setback to us."
Peter did ask Katar since they both share the same family name if he was married to the young lady that patrolled alongside him and this made Katar look at him with a bit of suspicion, Katar told them that Chay-Ara use that as a cover story, and so he wasn't married to her, why ask?
Peter then looked at how attentive Harry was with her, and Peter simply began to shake his head and told Katar because of the way his long-time friend was treating his lady friend he might just unintentionally woo her, Harry had many faults in his inability to tell when a lady developed romantic feelings towards him.
After six months, Chay-Ara was beating the living shit out of Harry, because he refused to marry her and ended their relationship with her, just as she mentioned she wanted to have children with him, but Harry told her that both he and Peter are immortal and they simply wanted to avoid the pain of seeing women who married them and their children die from either getting killed or old age.
This was a major blow to her since she never realized that Harry had gone through that sort of trauma watching his family all except his original wife die, and apparently, he had seen his children and loved ones die so many times that he wanted to avoid this.
Upset and heartbroken she kept working with Katar to bring the primitive civilization that would be called Egypt, trying to get them to advance culturally and scientifically enough so that their ship may be repaired or reconstructed, but sadly this was beyond anything, anyone on Earth could do.
She then tried to date and have a relationship with Peter first to get to know more about Harry because Peter was one of his oldest friends, but little by little they began to date almost like trying to find a way to mend her broken heart, but after seven months, the same disaster happened yet again.
Now Peter was the one that flat out broke up with her and told her that indeed he was Harry's oldest friend because they were both immortal, if she wanted to be with Harry or himself Chay-Ara would simply need to obtain immortality, with this Peter was certain that Harry would have no further objects in marrying her, his wife already approved of it.
Katar wondered why was his friend trying so hard to get one of these two humans to agree to marry her, it was quite strange for her to be so forceful about this when in reality she was never this forward with her feelings back in their world. For Harry the mere mention of having children made him remember seeing his children die of old age and hearing their hurtful comments.
To both Harry and Peter watching their children die became so traumatizing that had it not been for their wives they would have sworn to even sleep with their wives ever again. After a severe beat down by both of their wives, they realized that they were being quite selfish, and agreed as long as they were careful not to have any more children.
Peter explained this to Katar as he asked them why were they against having children and seeing his friend Chay-Ara be in such a rotten mood he decided to ask them this one question. That is when Katar asked them how old were both of them, Peter laughed and said over sixty thousand years old.
