As time went by Peter and Harry helped them build their kingdom, which was Egypt, they took a small troubled set of tribes and built them into a mighty kingdom, in the region that one day would be called Lower Egypt, why? the seasonal flooding and the extremely fertile lands made it easier for them to grow their country, Peter took his knowledge of engineering and designed irrigation systems that would be quite beneficial for farmers, and Harry designed roads and other infrastructure that could be used to safely store grain in massive silos.
The methods they used would keep the grain safe for consumption for months if not years, and they were designed to keep rodents and other pests from fouling the grains and other foods they kept as they were also taught how to preserve everything from meats to fruits and berries. They had contacts with other nations and those nations were only too happy to help in any major project. They also sold quite a few metal tools and household items at extremely reasonable prices. The health of the people improved immensely within a couple of years.
The population began to grow at a steady pace and Katar was declared the leader of the nation or the pharaoh. The one thing that people didn't understand was why those two who did so much to make their lives better spent as much time making sure their military was strong. An old man simply said that maybe they were preparing for when a massive war happened and that army was needed to defend their kingdom and their people, this made those that had this doubt relax.
They managed to establish a prospering economy, and people were pretty happy with the way things were happening. Peter and Harry seeing everything were pretty much peaceful and their friends were pretty happy. They decided to go across the ocean to where Greece would be and used their powers to fly towards the place they knew as Olympus. Peter was of course warmly greeted by Zeus and Poseidon, Hera on the other hand greeted Harry and asked him how he was doing.
Harry was doing his absolute best to stay as far away from Aphrodite as possible, even if it means not getting to talk to some of the gods, the last thing Harry wanted was to get endless questions about his love life, which to him it was ridiculous, he has been married for thousands of years, why does Aphrodite showing such interest in knowing when he or Peter would ever consider starting dating again? First, their wives would have to approve and they were not exactly easy people to get that approval from.
And last but not least any mortal woman that at one point proclaim their love for them would one day declare their hatred of them when they realize that unlike Peter and Harry they grew old enough to be some kid's grandmother. Their immortality was not something they could share, it was not something they could give, or even have their children inherit. After seeing this happen a few hundred times, that would kill any wishes they would ever have of dating another mortal woman in a hurry.
After Peter was done talking with Zeus, and Harry was done talking with Hera, they decided to bring up the topic of them separating into their Greek and Roman versions of themselves. The fact is this was something they had talked about with them before and they had decided to eventually allow all the gods and goddesses to vote if they were in favor or against this idea, now was the time for them to tell Peter and Harry their decision since this ritual would happen with the help of both Peter and Harry, all to be able to keep them from becoming weaker.
Some of the gods wonder why would they be willing to help them do this. Harry told them that there was strength in numbers and they foresaw that there is a major threat that would one day come to Earth, and if they were not ready everything on the planet would die. Peter told them that there was a threat that would soon appear, he was a being obsessed with destroying the universe and remaking it into his sick image, this person however needed to find the anti-life equation and the solution to it.
Zeus asked Peter if he knows what he is talking about, and he indeed nodded his head and told Zeus he knew perfectly well what he was saying, the worst part is that the one that will appear is just a vessel, a copy of the real one, who is bigger than anyone in their current dimension could even imagine, he was evil personified, and was a heartless and soulless tyrant, Peter told them that he planned to have them divide from pure pressure and wishing for themselves and loved ones to survive.
This however would have caused them to have only half of their power, but by doing the ritual with the help of Peter and Harry they could indeed divide into the two pantheons and retain all the power, which is even more important because if they ever fused again they would be several times stronger than they currently were.
"Hera, you are the goddess of marriage, sorry to tell you but there are far more forms of marriage than just monogamy, there are at least eight, if you accept all eight you will be that many times stronger, Zeus and Poseidon, they will fool around, there is no real reason think that they will suddenly stop doing that, one of these marriages is called an open marriage, if Zeus can have mortals, lovers, you will be able to the same. Our wives are always on the lookout for worthy women to join us in marriage, polygamy it is called, and we decided that they should have a word as to were or not another woman married into their relationship."
"We are immortal, we have married multiple women, only one is immortal like we are, and we had to watch many of these mortal wives who we loved dearly and our mortal children die of all ages or some other horrible way. So we do tend to limit how many mortal women we are married to, or even if we marry any at all. So trust me Hera, accept these eight forms of marriage and you will be happier because of it, at least you will no longer have to be angry about your husband deciding to have some fun with some other women."
After Harry finished telling her this, she understood what he meant and why he said it. Instead of focusing so much on Zeus and all the times he simply wanted to find beautiful mortals to sleep with, she should be focused on her realm, and doing this would allow many people to find marital bliss. The actual ritual was not that difficult it was more tiring than anything else, as they had to direct the energy of the ritual and since it was for all deities present the ritual went on for three days and three nights.
In the end, all of them were quite happy with the results and had established that the Roman Deities would go to live in the place that was called Rome, for obvious reasons, and the Greeks would remain on Mount Olympus since they couldn't claim a city as their main place where their worshippers would get to offer their tributes and prayers in the temples. Many of these cities had their patron deity and thus only that deity had temples in that city. Hades and Poseidon had no problem with this at all, Hades was quite happy with his life in the Underworld, the only complaint was that it could get a little lonely sometimes.
Poseidon had the entire oceans as his domain so if anything there was plenty under the water to keep him busy and entertained, especially since the sinking of Atlantis, he laughed that one moment there were no people in his domain, and the next and entire continent sank and now there were seven kingdoms which as loosely allies to each other, where the continent of Atlantis sank. Harry told Poseidon that in fact, he knew of the sinking since he and Peter fought there for two thousand years trying to save as many people as possible.
Poseidon asked him who was the person responsible. Harry didn't waste a second before telling him it was one of the Lords of Chaos, one that is often referred to as the Witch Boy. He might know him by the name of Klarion. Poseidon nodded his head and told him he indeed knew of that person and asked them both what were their plans since they accomplished making friends with them and helped them increase in numbers by doing that ritual. Peter said that they intended to actually visit their domain and possibly make friends with these seven kingdoms of Atlantis.
"So the threat is so massive that you are truly trying to forge alliances with as many powerful nations as possible. If I didn't know any better I would say that you two are worrying needlessly and that no such threat could exist without us knowing about it, but the way you both speak, your tone, attitude, and demeanor tell me that indeed the threat is very much real and the attack is a matter of when not if." He raised his trident and pointed it at both men and they felt a small shock go through their bodies.
"There, you have received my blessing, you may travel through my domain as long as you wish with no difficulties, all those that travel with you shall enjoy the benefit of this blessing. Be warned however the people that you will meet could very well be different than those you knew before Atlantis sank. If you fought against Klarion however I imagine the royal family will want to see you as soon as you arrive in their domain, I imagine they would be mighty pleased to hear that if you managed to save some of their people, and I would expect quite the heroes welcome, but if you find yourselves in need of aid, you only need to call out my name and my aid you shall have."
Hera had been spending some time talking with the wives of both Peter and Harry, the way their conversation often caused goddesses to laugh if not outright giggle made both Harry and Peter feel rather uncomfortable. but in the end, they decided to let them talk for once their little conversation was over they would be going to a place under the sea and if things were as Poseidon told them it would take both of them quite some time to finally becomes allies with the seven kingdoms, and with the danger that would one day appear on the world, they needed as many allies as they could get.
They knew where the continent was and it didn't take them long to fly to the place until they finally reached it and Peter for some unknown reason decided to turn off his flight power and plunge head first into the ocean, Harry began to wonder if Peter remembers there are man-eating sharks in those waters. They began to swim down deeper and deeper, the water began to drop in temperature and there was less light than before, soon enough they found that there was a rather shining light coming from even deeper, they swam towards it until they tragically or fortunately met some people who were out patrolling the area, Peter greeted them in the language that he learned from the people of Atlantis way back before the continent sank.
The guards were shocked that these people could talk in such an old dialect of their continent and demanded to know why they had come to Atlantis, Peter either threw shame out the window or simply didn't care he told them flat out to meet with their King. They asked how in the world would they even know about them having a king being foreigners and everything, Harry simply told them they knew because they meet one of the kings back before Atlantis sank, and hearing that they had survived from Poseidon, they decided to see if it was true and see how they were doing.
One of the guards called it an obvious pack of lies, there is no way that these people from the dry land ever met anyone from Atlantis before their land sank, the other man agreed and simply said that they both looked as young as they were, so of course, that was a lie, or maybe they did want to meet the king and were embarrassed so they made up the lie to hide their embarrassment. For Peter, it was a true test of his patience having to listen to these punks talk about them like that. But as long as they start what they went there to do, he simply will brush their comments like they are nothing.
The two guards told them that they need to deposit all their weapons by the palace guard post, and once they did, they guided them towards the throne room. Funny thing is that in the middle of a garden they saw two statues that looked almost like them except the faces and heads were damaged to the point that nobody could tell what these three men looked like except for the one wearing a helmet. Harry asked them why do they have this statue of these three men? The guard looked almost insulted and told them these three men were once the saviors of their people, having saved many Atlanteans during the time their continent sank.
This made Peter relax as he realized that they at least knew of what they did for their people, so maybe reestablishing their old friendship would not be as hard as he was thinking it would be, the king who became their friend was more than likely long dead, so they will need to meet with one of their descendants. As they finished telling them of the meaning behind the statues, they told him that if the king approves it they can give them a guided tour later, but for now, they must hurry to meet with the King, the man was very busy and they should feel honored that he was willing to set some time aside to meet with them.
The minute that Peter and Harry came into the throne room the King knew exactly who they were and welcomed them with open arms, the guards were surprised at first that the King was welcoming them as if these outsiders were returning heroes. Harry apologize for being out of touch for so long, but they believed that every one they didn't manage to save back in the days when they fought against Klarion would be long dead it was Poseidon that told them both that Atlantis had somehow survived and that made him and Peter want to see if the people of Atlantis needed their help.
"So after feeling that everyone you couldn't save was long dead, that must have been quite hard on you, given the fact that my family told me just how you and your two friends fought against that Lord of Chaos, but a chance meeting with our patron deity made you aware that we had indeed survived and you came from Olympus to here, just to check how we were and to offer your help once again. I grew up on heroic stories of what you did for Atlantis, and now I see you are every bit the heroes I always thought you were."
Peter smiled and told him that there is another reason, they have been slowly building friendships with many powerful kingdoms because in the future another calamity would strike, but this time the entire planet, they had been working hard to make friends and gain allies to form a fighting force strong enough to make that threat retreat, or think twice before attacking the planet ever again. The King understood where Peter was going and he called for his chancellor to call the representatives of the other six kingdoms of Atlantis.
After half an hour the chancellor told the king that the leaders of each of the kingdoms asked to meet with Peter and Harry, having heard tales of their heroics, and they would arrive the following day. That of course sounds great since they did want to spend some time learning more of what happened after Atlantis sank, and to see if there was anything they could do to make the lives of the people of Atlantis a little better.
The king was more than happy to provide them and their wives a place to reside and they spent the rest of the evening talking and sharing stories, his children much like many other children they met before were ecstatic to hear stories about alien worlds and alien cultures. Having spent so much time helping the guardians if anything gave them plenty of stories, and the fact that the chef that prepared all the food for every person that was part of one of the Lantern Corps taught them his recipes, they had quite a few colorful things to even share with the Queen who was curious about the food on other worlds.
The following day they woke up to quite a bit of noise as they heard the fanfare as each monarch of one of the other six kingdoms finally showed up, the symbiotes wanted them to be able to blend in with the others, and had changed their clothes to look more like Atlantean military armor they knew from when they fought alongside Nabu. The fact is that when the guards looked at them they were shown the current armor they could wear and much to their shock the clothes began to change before their very eyes.
The kings of the other kingdoms were also very happy to finally meet the heroes they had grown up hearing about, it was a little unnerving to see a man who essentially was a hybrid between a great white shark and a man act like such a fanboy, but after they asked questions on their many adventures, the kings began to ask them if what they heard was true, that another threat would be coming in the future and that threat was not only to Atlantis but the entire planet.
Harry told them that there was no doubt about it, it was not a matter of if, but rather of when. Peter then told them that they had been working with several kingdoms to build up and improve the armor and armaments that were available to them, forming lasting friendships and gaining allies, and learning to try and make the fighting force, the army they were trying to get together be ready to stand against such a horrible evil entity.
The kings asked where would this threat come from and if they knew who it was. Some of them speculated that it had to be the Lords of Chaos once again, since they did survive the genocidal attack from one of them, they could be returning to attempt to finish them off. Harry told them that while he does have a small grudge with the Lords of Order they do keep the Lords of Chaos from doing anything to that extent the threat would be coming from an invasion force from a higher dimensional being.
As if they knew who he was, the answer is yes, but because this is higher than a fifth-dimensional being, they did not want to mention the name of the individual while on the mortal plane because this would make this invader aware that they know of him and hasten his plans to attack the planet. The fact that such renowned heroes were concerned made several of the kings realize that this situation was far worse than they had ever imagined after hearing what one of the chancellors had told them.
They began to discuss the many improvements that Peter and Harry had been working on to the basic weaponry and armor, and had to admit that having access to so many new types of metals and being able to forge them into even more useful and powerful alloys was quite the achievement, as far as they are concerned Peter and Harry were always their friends, so there was no need to formalize any sort of diplomatic relations. Hearing this Harry began to share with them everything they had developed so far, Peter told them of the many different battle strategies that they managed to learn while meeting many different cultures.
They found some of the ideas had to follow since the very notion of a person being able to fly was a bit unbelievable to some of them, till Peter began to hover off the ground and flew to the top of the room and came back down to the floor rather quickly. "As we said, we met many cultures, some of them are from planets other than ours, so we learned a few things, and the tactics I was mentioning was on how to deal with airborne threats. The minions of the person we will be facing at the very least are capable of flight." This made them realize that Peter had not been telling them anything other than what he felt they actually would find useful not just trying to impress them with fancy stories.
Atlanteans having heard that a new threat but this time one that could threaten the entire planet began to put their differences aside, having to think of a future common enemy and preparing for a future conflict in a weird way caused the people to unite and work together better than their kings thought possible, one of them joked that trying to figure a way to save their own lives tended to be a wonderful motivation.
The discussion and planning lasted for an entire month, the Atlanteans had more knowledge when it came to the mystical arts than their new land-dwelling allies, so they explained how they had improved their weaponry and technology, which according to Harry would be immediately shared with their allies, to try and build upon the advancements that the Atlanteans managed to do. The attack would not be a surprise or at least they hoped it would not be thanks to the Guardians and the Lantern Corps keeping an eye on the thousands of sectors of space that made up their universe.
After the discussions were finally over and they managed to get the blueprints and designs to Gorilla City, they and their other allies began to try and improve the designs and use some of their innovations, it was a massive endeavor and it was for no less than the entire survival of all life on their planet. The seven kingdoms of Atlantis would essentially be the sea force of the army Peter and Harry were slowly building up, the people on dry land would be the ground forces, and if they could get the Guardians to send a few thousand Lantern members, they could take care of any enemies in the air.
The rings had this unknown feature that allowed the Guardians to hear what a person who wore one of the power rings was discussing and without knowing it, they had agreed with the idea of sending every available Lantern Corp member to Earth, this danger was so potentially devastating that it would be foolish if not suicidal to do otherwise.
The rivalry and the sometimes confrontational relationship between the Kingdoms of Atlantis were very much forgotten. The threat was of such severity that such former arguments and attempts to proclaim superiority among the seven kingdoms of Atlantis were either foolish or downright irresponsible. This threat was having the unintentional consequence of causing the seven kingdoms to work together better than ever, and as such their forces would be stronger than they had ever been before.
Their mages began to work together to figure out ways to use their magic to extend the range of their spells to cover not only their kingdoms but to able to affect the entire world, they felt that if the others were going to do something, they had to pull their fair share and do just as much as those that could not use magic at all. In the coming days,' the development of magic, weapons, and armor was something each kingdom would dedicate many of their best and brightest. The unforeseen result however due to their efforts to prepare for a future war, that the lives of their citizens improved vastly.
Author's note: will be putting the story aside for a month or two to work on other stories we will get back to it after that.
