Chapter 3: Concealed Awakening

The trio finally arrived home after a long walk home in the pouring rain, having not exchanged even a single sentence on the way back.

Izuku shuffled lifelessly towards his room, looking like the most miserable four-year old in the world. His mother reached out gently with a hand but stopped, unable to come up with anything to console him. As for Fubuki, she took the initiative and followed him into the dark little room that housed the computer.

Posters of All Might plastered the walls with his trademark grin, heavily contrasting the mood of everyone in the room. Without a word, the boy trudged towards the computer and turned it back on from its sleep mode, empty eyes focused on the video he unpaused with a soft click of the mouse. The screen lit up with color as the magnificent visage of All Might appeared once again, half a dozen people on his massive back as he carried them off to safety.

All Might: "Fear not! Why, you ask? Because I am here!"

All Might grinned triumphantly at the camera, the sounds of people cheering in the background blasting out the speakers. Once again, the day is saved thanks to the symbol of peace.

Izuku: "Fubuki..."

Izuku began, mouth still ajar with shock. His big sister sniffled, worry for her brother almost overwhelming her there and then.

Izuku: "No matter what kind of trouble you're in, he'll save you with a smile."

He turned around to face her, fat tears rolling down his cheeks as he began to cry.

Izuku: "A super-cool Hero like that."

A trembling hand pointed at the screen as his voice began to shake.

Izuku: "Can I… be a Hero too?"

The dam broke as she rushed forward, crashing into him with a tight hug. She too began to cry as she wrapped her arms around his tiny body, embracing him while tears flowed freely from her eyes.

She said nothing, she couldn't say anything. What could possible make this better. All she could do is hold her precious brother as he trembled with sadness. She felt her heart shatter into pieces, holding him close to her as they both cried into each other.

Meanwhile

Tatsumaki had been on a roll to say the least. She was already a rare case with getting her own agency as soon as she graduated UA. But Tatsumaki continued to prove that she was an immense cut above the rest.

Not only had she gotten her own agency at the start, but she's been raising in the ranks at an incredible rate. Currently, she the 23rd top hero in Japan and is predicted to be on her way to the Top 10 within a year.

Something she feed into by claiming that she would be number 1 and that Fubuki and Izuku would 2 and 3. This got Endeavor's ire but she didn't care. She knew her siblings had the potential to do it.

And right now she was showing why that wasn't a simple boast. She was currently handling a whole situation that would normally take a whole team of heroes by herself.

Currently, a group of villains had managed to arm themselves to the teeth with various weapons and even had a villain with a gigantification quirk on the roof who was threatening to the take down the whole building unless their demands were met.

It seemed like they would've gotten what they wanted…until Tatsumaki showed up. When the psychic girl arrived, she looked over the scene and simply yawned and muttered something about the other heroes at the scene being useless and then got to work. She used her psychic powers to disarm and destroy all the weapons the villains had.

Right as the giant villain was about to leap at Tatsumaki, the Tornado of Terror simply rolled her eyes and caught him effortlessly in her psychic powers.

Tatsumaki: "To think they were struggling with you losers,"

Tatsumaki groaned out, glaring at the giant villain she had in her grasp, the villain not being able to do anything to break out.

Tatsumaki: "I swear I'm one of the only competent heroes here."

She then used more of her powers to grab the villains around the building and dragged the ones inside the building out, setting them up so the police could make an easy arrest.

Background Villain #1395: "Don't think you've won! We still got back up on the other side of the city! You can't take us all down at once!"

Tatsumaki: "Yeah, yeah, whatever, you haven't seen the last of us, blah-blah-blah, we'll return for revenge, blah-blah-blah, how about doing me a favor by shutting up so I don't have to hear your annoying voices."

At that moment, she felt her phone vibrating in her pocket. Taking it out, Tatsumaki proceeded to answer it while keeping her hold on all the villains.

Tatsumaki: "Yeah who is it?"

Inko: "Tatsumaki, it's your mother."

Tatsumaki smiled at hearing Inko's voice, Inko being one of three people Tatsumaki wouldn't mind getting a call from at any point whether she was working or not.

Inko: "Are you busy?"

Tatsumaki: "Nah, just got some useless villains trapped while some equally useless heroes and sidekicks are standing around not doing their jobs."

Tatsumaki casually answered, the villains and heroes gaining tick marks at her remarks. Tatsumaki rose a brow as she finally noticed the tone in her mothers voice, she seemed…distraught.

Tatsumaki: "Is everything okay? Did your favorite soap opera get canceled or something?"

Background Villain #595: "Stop ignoring us!"

One of the villains yelled before Tatsumaki sealed his lips shut with her quirk.

Inko: "W-What? N-No, no, nothing like that. It's…It's about Izuku…"

Tatsumaki's amusement immediately ceased as she heard this.

Tatsumaki: "What? What about Izuku? Did something happen to him? Oh I swear if it's because of that Baku-brat again I'm gonna-"

Inko: "Sweetie please, just calm down. It's...It's something else. Izuku's quirk hasn't been showing up and so we took him to a quirk doctor and…well…"

Tatsumaki: "What? What is it already?"

Inko: "They diagnosed him as….quirkless."

Tatsumaki froze in midair. Her eyes widened and her grip on her phone tightened to keep her from dropping it in shock. She was silent for a moment as she tried to process what she heard. Her brother, the one who admired heroes with a passion and wanted nothing more than to be one with her and Fubuki when he grew up…..was quirkless.

Inko: "T-Tatsumaki? Are you still there?"

Tatsumaki: "I'll be there soon…"

That was all Tatsumaki said before lowering the phone away from her ear.

Inko: "Tatsumaki wa-"

Inko didn't get to finish her sentence as Tatsumaki hung up on her and put the phone back in her pocket.

As Tatsumaki gritted her teeth, her psychic powers exploded. The green aura around her grew immensely with power. The building the villains tried to take over, as well as some nearby buildings, found all their windows cracking due to her aura and even the ground far below her started to shake a little bit.

Tatsumaki: "Here's what's going to happen…"

Tatsumaki growled with pure venom in her voice. Suddenly all the villains felt themselves being crushed, just on the brink of their bones breaking.

Tatsumaki: "I'm gonna put you all on the ground. You're all gonna get arrested and sent to jail. And you're not gonna do anything to try and break yourselves out. Or else I'll find each and everyone of you, and…"

She didn't need say the rest, her eyes said everything. If looks could kill, she would've wiped out all of Japan.

Tatsumaki: "Now, nod if you understand."

All the villains quickly nodded their heads, feeling nothing but pure fear over the 4 foot 8 girl. Tatsumaki then sat them down on the ground with enough force to knock them out.

As soon as the villains were not a problem, she sped in the direction of her family's home with enough speed to create a sonic boom.

In less than a minute, Tatsumaki found herself at the apartment building she used to call home. Floating up to the door, Tatsumaki immediately started pounding on it, not letting up until it was opened by her mother.

Inko: "Tatsumaki, please try and keep it together. This is a hard time for all of us…"

Tatsumaki: "Where is he?"

Tatsumaki wasted no time in making her way into the old apartment, not noticing the bags under Inko eyes and how they were puffy and red from crying.

Tatsumaki: "Where's my brother?"

Inko: "He's in his room with Fubuki. She's been with him since the news broke out…be gentle…"

Tatsumaki felt her breathing slow down as she looked at Inko's heartbroken expression. Tatsumaki took a deep breath to calm herself down and nodded.

Tatsumaki: "Alright…"

Now not acting irrationally, Tatsumaki started walking towards Izuku's room. Before she opened the door, Tatsumaki winced as she heard her little brother crying in there.

Tatsumaki: "Izuku…"

Tatsumaki muttered as she opened the door and found a sight that broke her heart. Izuku clinging tightly to her younger sister as Fubuki held him close. Fubuki's shirt stained with tears and the girl having tears running down her eyes as well.

Fubuki said nothing as she looked up at her sister and embraced Izuku more. Fubuki's eyes full of sadness, grief and hint of resentment. For now Izuku could not live up to Tatsumaki's expectations, one she declared to the whole world.

Tatsumaki wasted no time in quickly joining the hug, wanting to comfort and hold her brother and sister close.

Tatsuamki: "I'm sorry…"

They stayed there, trying to give any amount of comfort to their quirkless brother. But unbeknownst to everyone, this very moment was what would plant the seeds for Izuku's quirk to develop.

The criteria needed for the First Phase demanded the user feel exceptionally powerful emotions in a short span of time, emotions that encompassed the user entirely. At that moment, all poor Izuku could feel was a mix of despair and desire.

Despair that he'd possibly never be able to achieve his dream of becoming a hero, and despair that he'd made his family cry.

At the same time, the desire to be a hero filled his mind, a bottomless hunger that seemed to consume his entire being filled his heart. The child knew it was selfish, but couldn't stop. He wanted to be a hero.

All of that along with two powerful espers being presented forced a miracle to manifest.

Glowing motes of light manifested, gathering as they formed a sphere on the roof of the apartment building, shrouded by the heavy rain. The sphere, no, the egg slowly but surely got larger as it fed off Izuku's despair to grow, unknowingly comforting its master.

As it grew the light it emitted grew dimmer and dimmer until a long, writhing tentacle emerged, the tips splitting off into five points to form fingers, then a hand.

The arm reached out towards the horizon as a bolt of lightning speared through the sky, illuminating the growing being. The limb seemed to recoil in fear, fingers brushing against the concrete roof. Wherever the digits touched they left deep gouges, almost like the solid concrete had been made of soft butter.

It reached out slowly, testing the environment and inching forward hesitantly. The sphere began to change as it elongated, more tentacles sprouting from its torso and eventually forming into human-like limbs. The being now had the rough shape of human adult.

Glowing fingers flexed experimentally, forming a fist and then opening it to feel the raindrops slide off it's smooth palm. It looked skywards, establishing a mental link between itself and its master.

The entity jolted as the link connected, a rush of emotions flooding its mind. Desire and despair twisted and flowed like oil and water through the connection. Slowly it began to consume the despair for fuel, while examining the desire with a childish curiosity. The desire to be a hero, it realized. A desire so strong that it overwhelmed the newborn being, bringing it to its knees.

'A super-cool hero like that. Can I… be a Hero too?'

The words echoed in it's mind as it stood, trembling slightly.

'Be... a hero...'

But what was a hero?

It probed through the master's mind for more knowledge, only to be blasted with a literal torrent of information as colors and shapes began to appear; memories being copied and transferred like data in a computer. Men and women in magnificent costumes saving innocents, rescuing them from danger. Fighting against the forces of Evil. Icons of Hope and Justice in times of darkness.

'He...ro.'

It strengthened the link, traveling through the master's mind for memories associated with the word. There, it found three resounding memories, stronger than all the others it'd previously come across.

The first two were master's siblings. Powerful espers and psychics who he loves deeply.

'Sis…ters.'

The last one was not related to her master but someone he admires none the less.

'Because I am here!'

The victorious image of All Might appeared. All three images brought with them a rush of emotions from the master's mind.

Hope. Admiration. Respect. Love.

'All… Might. Tatsu…maki. Fu…buki. Heroes.'

The simulacrum mouthed the words, finding itself unable to speak. A minor setback. Looking down at itself and finding its current form unsatisfactory, the being began to shift, slimming down as the outline of its body started to curve. A female form, it decided.

The master's memories showed that other humans were more receptive to a female hero. They certainly cheered much louder. Nodding to itself, it began to think of a more specific look, ultimately deciding to base itself off its Master's, no, her brother's DNA.

'Bro...ther. Hero.'

Waist-length snow white hair blossomed from her head as a beautiful face formed on what used to be a featureless canvas. A modest chest and womanly hips rounded out the body as she flexed and stretched, experimenting with interest.

The end result was nothing more than stunning as the being stood upright, looking more like a supermodel than a superhero. Then again, from her brother's memories most super-heroines tended to look that way.

Looking down she found her entire body naked but featureless like a mannequin except for her navel, and absence of genitalia. Where a woman's sacred parts were supposed to be there was only smooth, milky white skin.

There weren't even any nubs on her chest, unlike the memories that brother remembered. Strangely, he associated a woman's parts with a strong sense of embarrassment, prompting her to leave the body featureless from the neck down.

If onii-chan could see her now, she thought. Yes, that was what the memories told her- that all little sisters should address their big brothers with that specific term.

"Onii-chan."

She took the form a girl in her late teens or early twenties, her features strikingly similar to himself and his mother. She could probably even pass for another older sister if not for her pale alabaster skin. But she knew she wasn't the older sister. That honor belongs to Fubuki and Tatsumaki, her Onee-chans.

Turning to face the city, the being once again reviewed her memories.

Hero.

If that was what onii-chan wanted, then it was her life's purpose to fulfill it. A pair of cold, staring eyes opened, a soft green glow emanating from them as she scanned the horizon. She bent her knees and leaped, soaring through the air effortlessly like a bird of prey.

On that very night, four-year-old Midoriya Izuku had just unknowingly created the number one vigilante.
