Chapter 2
The following two weeks passed by fast, Kagome continued to learn more about healing and curing with her reiki. The more time passed, the stronger she became. Kaede once told her that her power surpassed that of her sister Kikyo. Kagome chose to live in the past and she would work as hard as she could to make sure she made her time here worthwhile. She would make sure she made a difference.
"Inuyasha has been here a lot lately," Sango commented to Kagome as they made their way back from bathing.
"Yeah, he's been pretty close to the village," she responded.
"You know he's staying for you right?" she asked with a knowing look.
"Don't Sango, I know he's doing it for me, for now. He's trying to show he can stay just because I told him I wouldn't wait for him anymore. But you understand me right? What would you have done if Miroku had told you he cared about you, but then went with another woman?" Both women stared at each other with a blank face and started laughing. "I'm sorry, that was a horrible example"
Sango laughed at Kagome, "Seriously? You know how hard it was to remind him we were engaged any time a pretty woman came by the village. I swear my poor hand was getting calloused from the many times I smacked him."
"At least now he only has eyes for you." Kagome smiled.
"Now yes, but it took time and patience. But I get what you mean, you do deserve to be happy, and Kikyo is dead and who knows how long she will be alive." Her words were confusing, but Kagome understood her. If she were to wait for Inuyasha, who knows how long it would take for Kikyo to finally be at peace, if ever.
Suddenly Kagome felt a demon presence, coming closer at a fast pace. Koga. As they entered the village, one moment she was next to Sango, the next she was in Koga's arms, "Kagome, my beautiful, how are you?" His arms rested on her lower back as he stared at her with a devilish smile, meant to make her swoon. Placing her hands on his upper arms, mainly for balance, she said "I'm good Koga, how are you?"
"You know me, ruling with my pack, waiting for the day you finally accept to be my woman, my mate."
"Get your damn hands off her" Inuyasha growled from behind Kagome, "Kagome is not your woman and will never be your mate!"
"Get over yourself mutt, I know how to stake a claim, and she is mine. Why don't you go and leave us alone. Besides, we have to plan when we can make our mating official," he said the last part huskily, making Kagome blush.
She could feel Inuyasha's anger radiating in waves from behind her, "Let. Her. Go. Now!" he roared. She slowly removed herself from Koga's arms and turned to look at Inuyasha, she could see his eyes going from gold to red. She needed him to calm down, but a small part of her loved his reaction, knowing how he felt. But she new she shouldn't give him hope that she is his, she had to set a boundary. He constantly left her for Kikyo, he had no right to say anything if a man talked to her.
"That's enough Inuyasha, I can take care of myself." Turning to Koga, she said, "Why don't we take a walk, and you can tell me how things are going between your pack and the neighboring pack you mentioned last time." Smiling, he took her hand and looped it through his arm. He gave Inuyasha a quick smug look and started walking with Kagome.
"Where the hell do you think you all are going?!" He called out after them. He was seething and wanted nothing more than to go and rip Koga to pieces. He hated seeing her walk away from him on the arm of another man, a wolf no less.
"You brought this upon yourself, you know," Sango said from behind him.
"What the hell do you know?" he grumbled, still staring off to where Kagome and the wolf went walking.
"Did you really expect her to wait forever? She deserves to be happy, to find a partner, get married, have kids, and have a life. What kind of life was she living waiting for you to come back every time you went running off to find another woman? What you feel watching her right now is what she felt for years. So don't be giving her grief for simply talking to another man. Besides, it's Koga, she has never really taken him seriously."
He listened to her words and knew she was right. But damn if it didn't hurt to watch her. Just seeing her hold his arm was enough to rip at his soul, he couldn't even imagine what he would feel if he actually had to see her kiss another man. The thought alone had his inner demon snarling. He'd get her back somehow.
