Hi! I hope you enjoy chapter three. Thank you to those who reviewed, liked, and followed. I don't own the world or people besides my Ops. And now for some trouble at home and the Vks' shock at the end of the chapter...Chapter 5: The New House
Evie awoke earlier than usual to the sound of her mom yelling.
"What happened?" She mumbled sleepily.
"You threw your new makeup kit in the trash!" The Evil Queen yelled.
"What?!" Evie sat up, fully awake now. She loved her makeup set! And even though
her mom could be annoying and force her to pack it everywhere she went, Evie would never throw it out.
"Look for yourself. Young lady, you are in big trouble."
Evie peered over the side of her bed, and gasped. Her makeup kit was really in the trash! Evie hopped out of bed and quickly pulled it out.
"Why did you throw it out?" Her mom asked. "Do you have any idea how that was to get from the supply ship? How rare? How precious?"
"I didn't!" Evie replied. "I swear, I didn't!" Her mom had found this makeup rotting on the side of a road, but Evie didn't mention that.
"Do you have proof?"
"We'll, no. I was asleep. It must have fallen in the trash by the wind."
"Then why should I believe you?"
"Because I'm your daughter! Why would I throw out my favorite possession?" Evie almost shouted.
The Evil Queen's lips twitched with a smile when Evie said her makeup was her favorite possession. Good. She thought. My little Evilette is learning well. Out loud, she gave Evie a warning glare.
"It better not happen again," she said.
Evie was hurt that her mom didn't believe her. She wanted to be by herself. So Evie left her house, and started down the street. Before long, she came to a building. It was two stories tall, and not very wide. It was about half the size of an average apartment building. Evie slowly approached the building and walked into the brown wooden door. The first floor was not a room, it was empty except for an unpainted wooden staircase. Evie climbed it, and it creaked under her feet. At the top was a single room. It was plain and completely empty. An abandoned house! Evie thought. Cool! Evie thought about her mom back at home. This wasn't the first time Evie needed a break from her, and it wouldn't be the last. I could come here whenever I need to get out! Evie grinned.
"It could be my own private house!" She called out into the empty room. Her words echoed through the air, and she smiled. This house could become amazing! A bed could fit in the corner, a mirror could be built into the wall, a blue desk could come in, and Evie could do her homework without her mom shouting at her not to do her schoolwork! Evie twirled around the room, and laughed. She loved her new house.
Evie walked down the steps and out the door of her new house. She walked down the road to the Vk meeting place: a black bench. Jay was already there, holding a brown banana.
"I got breakfast today!" He grinned.
Evie had left the house so fast, she forgot her lunch and breakfast. Her stomach grumbled. Jay saw her longing look, and split his food in half, handing the smaller piece to Evie.
"Thanks, Jay," Evie smiled.
Carlos walked up from the left, as Mal came from the right. Evie and Jay got up, ready to go to school. As they walked, the four friends talked.
"You'll never believe what happened to me this morning," Evie said, falling in pace with her friends.
"Let me guess," Jay joked. "You found a boat and sailed to Auradon."
"Close," Evie said. "My makeup kit fell in the trash in my sleep and my mom got really mad at me. So I left the house, and I found…" Evie trailed off, realizing she didn't want to share her secret with her friends. For now, she would keep it to herself.
"What?" Mal asked. "What did you find?"
"Nothing," Evie replied. "Just a cool rock, but I lost it."
Her friends clearly didn't believe her, but didn't say anything. It wasn't important.
"I found a dog near your house today, Carlos," Jay teased.
Carlos froze. "A dog?"
Mal rolled her eyes.
"There are no dogs," she informed Carlos. "Jay was teasing."
"Oh," Carlos blushed. "Well, I'm working on inventing a sound catcher that can catch sounds and tell me what's making them."
"Cool!" Evie said.
"Like dogs barking?" Jay raised an eyebrow.
"Ya, like that," Carlos admitted.
As they passed a bright yellow and pink house, Mal took out her can of purple spray paint. She always kept it with her no matter what. Mal covered the front of the sunny house with her dark purple paint.
"Much better," she laughed. "It was too cheery."
The four Vks waited until the bell rang, then walked up the winding path to school like they did every morning. They were late, like every morning. Then, they walked up to their first class just as they had done every other morning. The four friends all had Evil Schemes with Lady Tremaine, like they did every morning. Evie stepped forward and opened the door. Then, the Vks entered the classroom like they did every morning. But when they stepped into their dark and dreary classroom, all four of them gasped in unison. Because this was not how they found their classroom every morning.
Thank you for reading! I hope you enjoyed. Please leave a review for more!
