"You think so?" Cedric asked and rubbed the tears away from his eyes with the sleeve of his shirt. His dad nodded kindly "I know so, anyway I think this letter belongs to you." Amos handed the letter to his son and watched his son rip into the paper like he received a present. As Cedric opened the envelope with greedy hands, he noticed that something wasn't quite right. He carefully inspected the envelope and saw what was wrong with it. Cedric stamped his foot and huffed "Why is this torn? You opened it did you?".
Mr. Diggory rubbed his hand behind his head and smiled sheepishly "When the owl post came yesterday there was an envelope that had your name written on it, I was curious about how this "Alice" knew where we lived and how she knows you. So, I read the whole thing." Cedric covered his mouth and tried to suppress his foul language, but Cedric was so angry that he couldn't hold his anger back much longer "How fucking dare you. You have no right to go through my personal shit. How would you like it if I went through your shit." Amos raised his hands in defence "Don't you use that kind of language at me young man!" Amos raised his voice at him. Cedric frowned and gritted his teeth, trying to force himself to apologize to his dad.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to lose my temper. I just wanted to keep it a secret. Are you angry at me?" Cedric whispered the last words of his sentence and hanged his head. He didn't dare to look his dad in the eye after the way he shouted at him, afraid of what would happen next, Cedric stood completely still and tried to calm his racing heart down. Amos didn't say a bad word to his son at all, instead he walked over to the bed and sat down. He motioned for Cedric to sit down next to him, gulping Cedric sat next to his dad and thought about what to say. "I'm not angry at you son, in fact I'm proud of you for admitting that you want to mend something you broke." Amos patted his shoulder when he heard Cedric sniff, shooting his head up from his dad's words he smoothed out the letter and had another read. As Mr. Diggory reread the letter Cedric fiddled with his thumbs and chewed the inside of his cheek. There was something else on his mind, but he didn't want to say it because he was afraid that he'd upset his dad even more, yet again Cedric's already upset him with his harsh words. Cedric couldn't help but scoff at his dads' words "Since when do I make you proud? Let's just face it dad I'm a fuck up." He sighed and lightly kicked his other foot.
Amos gritted his teeth, ready to shout the walls down until his lungs burned to his pain in the arse child. He sucked air through his teeth and tried to keep his cool, just as he was about to try and comfort Cedric, he beat him to it. "I don't deserve to go to the retreat, and I certainly Don't deserve Harry's love." Cedric buried his head between his knees and tried to hold back his tears. His sadness was starting to creep past his organs to his heart, sighing in defeat Mr. Diggory surrounded himself and let Cedric be moody. He sat up from Cedric's bed, groaning at the feeling of his bones creaking as he sat up and back ache. He walked to the door, pausing halfway he turned around and watched Cedric's inner demons beat the shit out of him. As he left, he heard Cedric whimper in the dark.
Cedric clutched the envelope tightly in his fist. He breathed in deeply and tore open the seal and began to read the first paragraph.

Once Cedric finished reading the letter and the list of what not to bring and what to bring, he started to haul his suitcase out of his wardrobe, and he chucked it onto his bed. He unzipped the suitcase and carefully planned what he was going to bring with him, pawing through his belongings he began to pack all the stuff needed for his trip and was careful not to pack the stuff he wasn't supposed to bring. Just as he was about to take one last look at the list Cedric heard voices downstairs. He paused packing halfway and silently crept downstairs to see who his dad was talking to, wiping his sweaty palms off his jeans Cedric sat on the top of the staircase only to find his dad having a deep conversation with Mr. Malfoy.
