Echoes of the Rift

Chapter 1: Fractured Paths

Three months had passed since the battle with Zeke and the Beast Titan, but the scars of war still lingered. Luffy and Levi had found themselves trapped in a fragile truce, living in the outskirts of Paradis, where remnants of the Marleyan military hunted them relentlessly. The once-lush forests surrounding their hideout were now blackened with Titan devastation, their soil stained with battles fought under the cover of night.

Levi sat on the wooden steps of an abandoned cabin, sharpening his twin blades in practiced silence. His injuries from the last battle had mostly healed, but the ache in his bones reminded him of what they had lost. His eyes, sharp as ever, flicked toward the trees where Luffy was perched on a high branch, staring at the sky.

Luffy, however, was restless. He had grown used to moving forward, always chasing his next adventure. But now, he was stuck. He wanted to return to his world—to his crew, his ship, and the boundless sea—but the portal had closed the moment Zeke had perished. With no clue how to reopen it, frustration simmered beneath his usual carefree demeanor.

"Oi, Levi," Luffy called out, dangling upside down from the branch. "Aren't we gonna do something? This hiding stuff is boring."

Levi scoffed, sliding his blade back into its sheath. "We do something every day. We fight, we run, we survive. That's all we can do."

Luffy flipped down and landed in front of Levi. "Nah, that's not all. We gotta find that portal again. There's gotta be another way!"

Levi sighed, rubbing his temple. "And you think we haven't tried? We've searched every ruin, every Marleyan record we could steal. It's gone, Luffy. It closed for a reason."

Luffy clenched his fists, his rubber skin stretching with tension. "Then we punch the reason until it opens again!"

Levi exhaled sharply. Luffy's optimism was both his greatest strength and most infuriating trait.

Chapter 2: A New Threat

One night, while scouting a nearby village, Levi and Luffy stumbled upon whispers of something dangerous—Marley had sent a new force, one deadlier than the last. A woman clad in black armor, her presence alone enough to make the townspeople cower, was hunting for them.

"Her name's Captain Ireida," a frightened barkeep whispered, his hands trembling as he cleaned a glass. "They say she's not like the other warriors… she's something else."

Levi leaned in. "Something else how?"

The man swallowed hard. "Rumors say she controls Titans. Not just commands them—controls them, like puppets. And she's looking for you."

Luffy grinned. "Cool! I wanna fight her!"

Levi smacked the back of Luffy's head. "Idiot. If she's controlling Titans, she's dangerous. We don't go looking for a fight unless we have to."

But Luffy's excitement burned brighter than ever. A powerful enemy meant an opportunity—maybe even a clue to getting home.

Chapter 3: The Battle of Smoke and Steel

The first confrontation came sooner than expected.

Under the full moon, the ground trembled as a massive Titan crashed through the tree line. Its glowing eyes locked onto them with unnatural intelligence. And then, from the shadows, she emerged.

Captain Ireida stood atop the Titan's shoulder, her long black coat billowing behind her. Her expression was unreadable, but her voice carried the weight of command. "Monkey D. Luffy. Levi Ackerman. You've survived too long."

Levi's grip on his swords tightened. "You must be the new pet Marley sent."

Ireida smiled coldly. "Not a pet. A predator."

With a flick of her wrist, the Titan lunged. Luffy launched himself forward, his body stretching through the air. "Gum-Gum Pistol!" His fist slammed into the Titan's head, sending it staggering back, but it recovered faster than normal Titans should.

Levi's instincts screamed at him—this wasn't an ordinary Titan.

Luffy flipped back to Levi's side, frowning. "That didn't feel right."

Ireida raised a gloved hand, her fingers moving as if controlling strings. The Titan's wounds sealed almost instantly, and it let out a guttural roar.

Levi cursed. "She really is controlling them."

The fight exploded into chaos. Levi weaved through the air, his blades cutting into the Titan's ankles, but each time he struck, the wounds regenerated. Luffy clashed with Ireida herself, their blows shaking the air around them. She was fast—faster than anyone Luffy had fought in a long time.

Levi's mind raced. "There's always a weak point…" Then it hit him. "Luffy! Her hands! That's how she's controlling them!"

Luffy's eyes lit up with realization. He dodged another strike and aimed directly at her arms. "Gum-Gum Red Hawk!"

Flames erupted as his fist connected, and for the first time, Ireida staggered. Her glove burned away, revealing intricate golden symbols carved into her skin.

Levi didn't hesitate. He shot forward, his blades slicing cleanly through her exposed arm. She screamed, staggering back as the Titan under her command froze, its body trembling before collapsing completely.

Breathing heavily, Luffy grinned at Levi. "Nice teamwork!"

Levi simply exhaled. "Don't get cocky. We're not done."

Ireida, clutching her injured arm, glared at them with cold fury. "You will regret that."

And then, before either of them could react, she vanished into the night.

Chapter 4: The Last Chance

Back at their hideout, Luffy paced restlessly. "She was controlling Titans with those marks. What if that's the key to opening the portal again?"

Levi, leaning against the wall, considered it. "If those symbols came from the same power that created the portal… then maybe. But we don't even know where she went."

Luffy grinned, stretching his arms. "Then we find her. And we make her talk."

Levi smirked faintly. "Now you're thinking like a soldier."

As dawn broke, they prepared for their next move. The battle had only just begun, but for the first time in months, they had something they hadn't before.

Hope.
