Chapter 1: The Finger in the Barrel
Luffy's small boat rocked gently in the endless blue sea. The sun hung low on the horizon, casting a fiery orange glow over the water. His stomach growled, reminding him that he hadn't eaten in hours. The promise of the food-filled barrel was the only thing keeping his spirits up. Luffy smiled to himself as he pulled the barrel closer, eager to dig in.
"Finally! Food!" Luffy exclaimed with a grin that stretched from ear to ear.
He fumbled with the lid of the barrel, his fingers excitedly working to pry it open. As soon as the lid popped off, Luffy's eyes widened at the sight of the pile of rice, bread, and fruit. But there was something else, something out of place nestled beneath the food. A small, weathered object. His curiosity piqued, Luffy reached in and grabbed it.
It was a finger. A severed human finger, perfectly preserved and wrapped in a strange, blackened cloth. Luffy's eyebrows furrowed as he stared at the object in his hand. He tilted his head, inspecting it.
"That's weird," Luffy muttered, "Who would put a finger in a barrel of food?"
He wasn't particularly squeamish about such things—after all, he had eaten plenty of strange things in his time—but something about this finger felt... off. It almost pulsed with an odd, dark energy.
Without thinking, Luffy popped the finger into his mouth, chewing it quickly and swallowing.
The moment it passed his lips, a searing pain shot through his body, as if the world itself was twisting around him. Luffy clutched his chest, his breath coming in ragged gasps. His head spun, and his vision blurred.
What is this feeling? Luffy thought desperately, struggling to remain conscious. It's... too much... what's happening to me?
His body felt as though it were on fire. It wasn't just the pain—it was something else. Something ancient. Something powerful.
Then, a voice. Deep. Dark. Malevolent.
"Pathetic."
Luffy's eyes snapped open, but it wasn't his voice that escaped his lips. It was someone else's—a voice dripping with contempt. A voice that sent a shiver down his spine.
The world around him shifted again, and Luffy's consciousness was pushed to the edges of his mind. He tried to scream, but his body didn't respond. It felt as though someone else had taken control. He could feel the anger, the arrogance, the overwhelming presence of a being far stronger than him. The voice was familiar in a way that made his stomach twist in terror.
"You... fool. You think you can consume something like me and remain unscathed?"
Luffy's body stood on its own, moving as if by some unseen force. His limbs jerked in unnatural, controlled movements. His hands clenched into fists, and his face twisted into a cruel smile—one that wasn't his own. It wasn't Luffy's innocent grin anymore. It was something dark, something malicious.
The presence in his body was Sukuna.
Sukuna's laughter filled his mind. It wasn't just laughter—it was a taunting, mocking sound that reverberated through every inch of Luffy's being. The weight of centuries of power, arrogance, and cruelty pressed down on him.
"This body is... disappointing. Weak." Sukuna's voice rasped through Luffy's mouth, his eyes flashing with an eerie, unnatural light. "But it will do, for now."
Luffy's heart raced in his chest. He tried to move, to fight back, but his limbs wouldn't obey him. Every attempt felt like trying to swim through molasses. His thoughts, his will, were being smothered by Sukuna's overwhelming presence.
Luffy's face twisted in desperation as he mentally screamed, Get out of my body, you bastard!
But Sukuna just laughed again.
"You're powerless."
Luffy's attempts to regain control were futile. The more he struggled, the more the feeling of helplessness consumed him. Every inch of his body, every nerve, every thought was submerged beneath Sukuna's overwhelming dominance.
And then, the voice in his head softened, as if taking on a darker, more contemplative tone.
"This body... it will be an excellent vessel." Sukuna's words were cold, calculating. "But I will need to test it. You, Luffy... you will be a tool."
The realization hit Luffy like a tidal wave. He wasn't in control anymore. He was trapped inside his own body, helpless, as Sukuna—the King of Curses—reigned over him.
The terror that surged through him was unlike anything he had ever felt. Even when he faced down the cruelest of enemies, even when he fought to protect his friends, he had always been in control. Now, he was nothing. Nothing but a prisoner.
His eyes welled with frustration. This can't be happening...
"Foolish little pirate." Sukuna's voice cut through Luffy's thoughts again, dripping with disdain. "You don't understand the power you've unleashed. You will serve me, whether you like it or not."
Luffy's fists clenched so tightly that his nails dug into his palms. The feeling of being trapped in his own body was maddening, like trying to scream underwater. His heart thundered in his chest, his mind racing as he tried to formulate a plan.
He had to fight back. He couldn't let Sukuna control him like this. He had a dream—a dream to be Pirate King. But now... now it seemed that dream was slipping away from him.
Luffy's mouth moved again, but it wasn't his voice that came out.
"You think you can take back your body? Pathetic." Sukuna's voice was mocking, cruel. "I am the true master here."
Luffy grit his teeth. He couldn't just give up. He had to find a way to regain control. He had to find a way to take his body back.
But deep down, Luffy knew this wouldn't be easy. Sukuna was a being of unimaginable power, a cursed spirit far older and stronger than anyone Luffy had ever faced. The weight of his centuries of dominance threatened to crush him.
Still, the fire that burned in Luffy's chest—a fire that had never gone out, even in the face of his greatest challenges—refused to be extinguished. He would never give up. He couldn't.
Luffy forced his voice through, trying to speak with all the strength he had left, even though his body wasn't responding.
"I'm gonna take back my body. And when I do... I'm going to kick your ass."
Sukuna's laughter echoed through his mind, but Luffy's words, his will, were louder now. He wasn't done. Not yet.
Sukuna's gaze—through Luffy's eyes—seemed almost to smirk at him, but there was a flicker of something darker in it. It was a look of amusement, as if Sukuna enjoyed the challenge.
"Is that so? Very well, Luffy." Sukuna's voice purred with dark delight. "Let's see how long you last."
And with that, the battle for control began.
