Chapter 2

News of the incident at the Mayor's Office had reached a certain man, a man who was currently seated in his office at the top of the large skyscraper tower that served as his main office, Fisk Tower. The man was huge, bulky with muscle, bald with brown eyes, fair skin and clad in a smart suit, cut to fit his bulk, it was Wilson Fisk, head of Fisk Enterprises, but better known by a select number of people as the Kingpin of Crime. His eyes were narrowed as he observed the man clad in the white suit with a dusty rose coloured mask over her head, one of his key operatives, The Rose.

"So, that thief failed to grab the drive, Spider-Man interfered?" He queried.

The Rose nodded. "I'm afraid so, Mr. Fisk. Not only that, there was a team of mercenaries that-"

"I don't care about them, I already know what they are about!" Fisk snapped. "Spider-Man is the problem here, he was got in my way for the last time. This is the third time he's interfered and so I have to take extreme measures."

"Extreme measures, sir?" The Rose asked, looking for clarification.

Kingpin nodded. "Yes. I have eight files here, I am putting a hit out on Spider-Man, ten million for whoever brings me his head, I am opening it to any person who has the means to do so...but these eight are being specifically hired for this purpose. Send them out and make sure they understand their task."

The Rose was startled by this, but nodded, taking the files. "I'll see to it at once sir...and Black Cat, should she show up?"

"Kill her, she has failed." Kingpin snapped.

The Rose nodded again and left to carry out his task.

"Crap, crap, I was nearly late." The teenage boy muttered. 'Thank God for web-swinging.'

The boy was around medium height, five foot seven, with short dark red hair and hazel eyes, he was fair skinned and had a strong build. He used to wear glasses but no longer needed them after gaining his Spider Powers. For the young man, Jamie Townley, was in fact the real identity of Spider-Man.

'That was crazy last night, the whole fight...luckily I know I can find out more about what Black Cat was doing there...I just need to find her.' Jamie reflected. 'Also got to figure out what's on the drive, don't know how long it'll take to decrypt however.'

"Hey Jamie, where were you, you almost missed our first class."

He turned and smiled lightly. "Hi Laurel, sorry, got held up in traffic. But I made it, right?"

She laughed and nodded. Laurel Wilson was a reasonably tall girl, five foot eight with long wavy brown hair, brown eyes and tanned skin, she had a rather curvy, busty build with thick thighs. She was a friend of Jamie's and they had known each other for quite a few years. They walked to their lockers, ready to get what they needed for their next group of classes, but there was still time before that where they had free time which worked in Jamie's favour as they rounded the corner.

He paused when he saw another girl up ahead; a very familiar girl, fair skinned with brown eyes and an incredible curvy build, notably having a rather round firm butt and curvy hips, as well a a notable bust. Her hair was medium long, loose and was now it's natural black in colour, not the silver it was when she was in costume, it was Jennifer Kirk, the true identity of Black Cat.

Seeing her talking to Mitchell Daniels, one of the richest boys in school, and knowing the sort of things she liked to pull, Jamie shook his head and turned to Laurel.

"Excuse me a moment, I need to talk with Jennifer." He said.

Laurel quirked and eyebrow but shrugged. "No problem, see you in class."

With that she walked off and Jamie walked over and cut in on the talk.

"Jennifer, good to see you, mind if we talk for a moment?"

Mitchell looked surprised but Jennifer just rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, sure." She agreed. "See ya later, Mitchell."

With that she followed Jamie away until they were in a quieter part of the school hallway.

"Already picking your next victim?" Jamie asked grimly.

Jennifer shrugged. "Well, maybe I have to, since you just put my life in peril. Unless you give me back that drive."

"You know I can't do that." Jamie replied with a sigh. "Why is this so important, what does Kingpin want with it?"

"Don't know, don't care, I didn't ask." Jennifer shot back. "I was to deliver it and get paid and that was it."

"Where were you meant to deliver it?" Jamie asked, realizing a chance to get more information.

But Jennifer just glared at him. "Oh no, I know what you're thinking and it's not happening. You put me in peril, Kingpin's boys will whack we the moment I show my face. Why should I help you?"

"To get them off your back, can't exactly whack you when they're apprehended and in jail?" Jamie pointed out. "Before you start, do you honestly think I'll just stop there...I've been waiting for a chance to bring Willy and his organization down for so long, this is it, I'll be going after him, this is just the starting point."

Jennifer sighed in frustration at that.

She shook her head.

"You shouldn't be getting involved in this, you're just gonna get yourself killed." She said at last. "Why can't you just leave it?"

"You know exactly why."

She growled. "Honestly. It's not worth it, just give me the drive and I can maybe still salvage this."

Jamie shook his head and Jennifer looked around anxiously. It was getting close to the next class and they soon wouldn't have much privacy. With a heavy sigh she pulled a page from her notebook, wrote something on it and then folded it and handed it to him.

"Don't make me regret this." She grumbled. "The things I do for you, Spider."

With that she turned and walked away while Jamie checked the note, it contained an address for a warehouse on the Upper West Side, owned by the Kingpin, underneath was a note 'Tonight at ten, be there. Remember your Suit, you'll need it.' He shook his head and pocketed the note.

"Hey Jamie, there you are."

Jamie turned, smiling at the sound of that voice. A reasonably tall young man with pale skin was approaching him, also smiling. The young man was slender yet fit, with some muscule developing, he had curly brown hair with blonde highlights and brown eyes. Jamie knew the young man well, another very good friend of his called Sam McWinter, a friendly young man who was well-known around the school as being a rather skilled dancer, having practised dance since a young age he was quite skilled now, even taking part in actual shows. This had a polarising reaction from many in the school, as did Sam being rather open about his sexuality, something which Jamie admired and thus ensured he helped out, siding with Sam against any detractors and being friendly and encouraging to those who supported him.

However something strange had begun happening lately for Jamie in that he found himself feeling strangely awkward around Sam, unaware that Sam had been feeling the same awkwardness lately.

"Hey Sam, what's up?" He began, trying to keep things casual.

Sam smiled and shrugged. "Ah, nothing much. Got some assignment I've gotta complete for the Bugle. Robby said that I was not to show him the city, but to show him New York."

They both laughed at that, knowing exactly what Robby meant.

"Hey um, you think we could meet up at Washington Square Park tomorrow? Just to hang out, you know." Sam asked.

Jamie smiled and nodded. "Yeah, that should be fine, I'll see you there."

Both boys then went their separate ways, both pondering the strange awkwardness they felt while talking to each other, an awkwardness that still lingered.
