Chapter 6
With things finally calmed down, no current activity that required any superhero intervention, Spider-Man returned home, swinging to the roof and pausing for a moment. After making sure there was nobody around, he picked up the backpack he stashed and moved out of sight, changing as quickly as he could before straightening up, hiding the backpack again and heading out towards the front door this time. Clearing his throat and readying himself, Jamie entered the small but peaceful home that he lived in with his aunt. Indeed, as soon as he entered he heard his aunt's voice calling.
"Jamie, is that you?"
Jamie smiled softly. "Hi Aunt Dakota, yeah it's me. Sorry I'm late, the lecture ran long."
She exited the kitchen, smiling lightly, Jamie's aunt Dakota Townley was the sister of his late father, roughly the same height as Jamie, with shoulder length hair, a darker red than his, light brown eyes and fair skin, slender and she clearly hadn't been home long from work herself.
"It's no trouble, well, I'll be starting dinner soon." She replied. "I'll call you when it's ready."
Jamie smiled gratefully and nodded. "Thanks."
With that he headed upstairs, still pondering about his family situation. His father had died three years ago, roughly the same time, give or take a few days his mother had disappeared. Not died, disappeared, but ever since that his aunt had taken him in and raised him, he couldn't help but smile at times, recalling how grateful he felt towards her for doing that, despite the disruption his presence had to cause to her life, something she always said she didn't mind.
Still recalling those details he returned to his room, closed the door and locked it before he turned slowly and looked around. He did his best to keep his room neat and tidy, all to not give Aunt Dakota a reason to come in too often, so he could work on Spider-Man stuff without much fear of getting caught. He approached his computer and began checking on things.
'Okay, let's see...how is the decryption going?' He wondered.
He checked the computer, specifically the copy he had made of the drive from the Mayor's office, before returning the original to Jennifer, all part of his plan. Having already seen the contents were encrypted he made the copy, then got to work trying to decrypt the copy before leaving for that meeting with Jennifer at the warehouse. It was taking some time, the encryption was pretty strong. But now he checked and smiled.
'Perfect, okay, it's finished. Let's see what we've got here.' He thought to himself. 'What secrets are you hiding Mr. Mayor?'
He knew right away there was something more fishy than usual regarding the mercenaries breaking into the mayor's office, namely it happen so close to the upcoming mayoral election where the current mayor would be going up against Norman Osborn of all people.
Shaking his head to focus, Jamie made sure the files on the drive were safe before opening them and he quirked an eyebrow.
"Wow." He gasped. 'I wasn't expecting this…'
He now realized just why the mayor had been trying to hide this in his safe and clearly was trying to keep it buried. Inside were all the mayor's dirty secrets. Most notably, a lot of money changing hands between the mayor and Kingpin. Bribes, no doubt. He noticed a few other worrying deals too that suggested even more criminal events the mayor was either connected to, blocking the investigation of, or was complicit in, even in a peripheral way. There were also details on Kingpin himself and his operation.
'Wow, this answers a fair few questions...mostly about the invasion at the office, now I know why Kingpin hired Black Cat to steal the drive, he wants it as bad as they mayor, so many secrets for both of them…' Jamie pondered before sighing. 'Still doesn't answer who was behind the mercenaries though, gonna have to figure out who that is...but that can start tomorrow.'
With that in mind, Jamie shut everything off and prepared to go down and help his aunt with dinner.

Meanwhile, at his own home, Sam smiled lightly as he returned to his room, having spoken with his mom before she went to check on his sister. He had two sisters but his oldest sister was already married and living with her husband and was already a mother too. His other sister had downs syndrome and so both he and their mother took care of her. His mother was also very aware of his dancing talents, having studied dance in her younger years and even took Sam when he was rather young with her a few times, which led to his interest in it. She was also aware of his sexuality and fully supportive of him, a very stark contrast to her ex-husband, Sam's father who was thankfully no longer part of their lives.
'Okay um, let's not dwell on that.' Sam told himself. 'Let's see about this now…'
He bit his lip and checked the pictures he had taken of Spider-Man recently, some of the things he had been doing, swinging through the city, his fight with Shocker and even a selfie they had taken together.
He smiled at that, but felt awkward. 'It's so great he agreed to do the selfie with me, man, he really is amazing but...but then I think more about it, and then think about Jamie and, ohh man, I've gotta stop this before I-'
But it was no good, he just couldn't help it, he was stuck pondering the two people he had crushes on, Jamie Townley and Spider-Man. He was so lost in these thoughts, dwelling on them. So much so that he failed to notice the shadow of a person passing his window.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
