Spider-Man: A Dark Plot

Now onto the story.

Chapter 9
Up in his office on the top floor of Fisk Tower, Kingpin sat behind his desk, eyes narrowed, hands clasped as he looked with narrowed eyes at the three figures who stood in his office. Three of his hired Assassin's. The ones he knew as Hammerhead, Vulture and Kraven the Hunter. Of the remaining four, Rhino, Scorpion, Chameleon and Taskmaster, they were not present in his office but talking over a collection of video monitors as they communicated too. It was not a good outlook as far as Kingpin was concerned.
"So...Tombstone failed, already the eight are reduced to seven and Spider-Man is still out there, as much of a threat as ever." Kingpin stated darkly. "I was led to believe I had hired eight of the best, only for one to fall at the first hurdle."
"Tombstone was nothing but a two-bit thug with some little quirk, he lacked the intelligence to destroy the Spider." Vulture groused as he flexed his wings. "Leave it to me and I will easily take him down."
"I don't think so." Rhino interjected. "I will be the one to crush the Spider."
Scorpion then laughed. "Didn't you hear, he said it'll take intelligence, that's one thing you're lacking, beast."
"Maybe I'll crush you too, poisonous vermin." Rhino snapped.
"Ha, listen to the children squabble." Hammerhead mocked.
"You-!"
But Kingpin was not happy with all this and was determined to get things back on track.
But before he could say anything, Chameleon suddenly burst out.
"I must object to all of this. It's bad enough I have to contend with this lot." He snarled, glaring at the other Assassin's, at least the ones he could see. "Some worse than others."
Saying that last part, he shot an even more venomous glare at Kraven, who was completely indifferent to him.
"Hurry up and speak." Hammerhead interjected. "We have a Spider to squash and the one who does gets rich, I intend it to be me."
"No, it will be me. It should have been me, I was all prepared, ready to act...then such minor nuisances like that worthless Hyrdoman and Shocker kept getting in the way. I am in the middle of my plan and things like that are-" Chameleon complained.
"Are things you'll just have to put up with." Kingpin said. "I want the Spider dead, as such I've opened up the bounty to ANYONE who will deliver his body to me. You are just the ones who are specially chosen for your skills but YOU are letting ME down!"
As he said the last part he slammed his fist on the desk and glared sharply at each other them. Chameleon glared but otherwise said nothing. Vulture, Rhino and Scorpion seemed to be the most on edge. Hammerhead looked eager to get going while Kraven remained stoic as ever. Meanwhile Taskmaster was looking down at something before looking up.
"I have almost finished my analysis. Rest assured, I will be making my move soon, I will deal with the Spider-Man and claim my reward." He remarked, business-like and to the point.
Kingpin gave a slight smirk, at least someone was professional about this.
Satisfied with that he leaned back in his seat.
"Good, well, I suggest if the rest of you don't want to be left behind you all get to work." He remarked.
That prompted those communicating over video call to swiftly turn the cameras off to do so, Vulture made his way out to go and fly away while Hammerhead had to take a more mundane route. Kingpin nodded, satisfied before narrowing his eyes at Kraven who remained standing where he was, arms folded.
"Have you forgotten that you're part of this, Hunter?"
"I do not need to leave, my plan does not require it." Kraven remarked. His voice gravelly but full of menace. "A hunter is always three steps ahead of his prey. So while those other jackals flail around trying to find and trap this Spider. I will be waiting here."
Kingpin raised an eyebrow. "What makes you think you'll get the Spider waiting here."
"He is aware you are behind this, he will come looking for answers, so I will be waiting for when he arrives, then I will claim his head." Kraven growled.
Kingpin narrowed his eyes, taking this in, now things were certainly getting interesting.
