12 years later
Soon the months had turned into years. 12 long years had gone by since the disappearance of Jordan Voight. Since the day there was no evidence, no leads, any lead Hank did get dried up fast and the case remained cold. It had broken something inside of him. It had broken his heart and soul. He had never been able to forgive himself. If he had never given his baby girl to that guy then she would be with him and Anna, happy and healthy. Not missing and possibly terrified.
He hadn't known if his daughter was alive or not, Hank had never given up hope that his daughter was gone. He kept trying to picture her and what she looked like. Would she look like him or Anna? He remembered the day she was born she looked just like her mother. All her facial features were Anna, even the silky brown hair.
For years any case that involved a missing child, he was all over it but still none that led him to his daughter. Losing a child. That was just about the hardest thing anyone could go through. The worst part was not knowing if she was still alive or dead. After the disappearance of his daughter, his son, Justin had gotten into all sorts of trouble and ended up getting into a drunk driving accident that paralyzed a teenage boy.
Not wanting to lose his son Hank had done everything in his power to save him from it. That had its own consequences. Not only did Justin land in jail but it landed Hank there too. Truth be told, Hank was already in prison. His family was once again destroyed. He and Justin were in prison, he and Anna split up years ago, and his baby girl was gone.
After a year in jail Hank had gotten out on a technicality, he was promoted to Sergeant and given the Intelligence unit. It was a small team that consisted of Antonio Dawson, Jay Halstead, Erin Lindsay, Jules Willhite, and Hank's long time best friend, Alvin Olinsky.
The team had gotten a case that had made Hank freeze, when he heard what his senior detective was saying he was out of it. Another baby had been taken from the same hospital his little girl was taken. When he found the bastard who did it, he would make him feel pain he never thought that would be unimaginable.
Meanwhile
Over in Washington DC, in a family story house was a small family. It was a man, his name was William LaMontagne Jr. He was a detective from New Orleans. He and his now wife, JJ, had made the choice after dating a while. The couple had two children. A son, Henry and their adopted daughter, Jordan.
Jordan had always known she was adopted but knew nothing about her biological parents. She had recently turned 12. Will and JJ never discussed with her how they came to adopt her. They never knew how to bring it up. They didn't know if they should.
All that mattered to the couple was that she was happy and healthy. JJ wanted to have Garcia dig into her biological parents but she knew doing that they could come look for her. They wanted her to know her biological family but were also afraid of losing her.
Early one morning Jordan had woken up to her younger brother hopping on her bed waking her up. She giggled and peeked her head out.
"Henry, I'm awake" Jordan giggled.
The little blonde boy smiled and hopped off the bed going downstairs. Jordan had quickly made her bed, grabbed her school uniform. She was in a private school in the DC area. It consisted of a white collar shirt, a dark colored vest, and a plaid skirt. She grabbed a pair of white tights and her sneakers. After gathering what she needs she headed to the bathroom for her morning shower. Downstairs JJ was making breakfast for her family, Will had been making coffee.
"Can you believe it's Jo's first day in middle school? It seemed like yesterday she was in Kindergarten" JJ says to her husband.
"Time sure does fly by" Will replied, he had a soft southern accent.
Her phone had gone off and she sighed, she already what it was her team had caught a new case. She looked at her husband.
"I'm sorry I can't be there for her first day of school"
"She'll understand, go"
She kissed him and grabbed her stuff, Jordan had come downstairs dressed in her uniform and saw her mother.
"You're gonna miss my first day" Jordan spoke with slight disappointment.
JJ hated to hear the sadness in her daughter's voice and bent down to her level brushing some loose strands of brown hair from her face.
"I'm so sorry sweetheart, I'll make it up when I get back"
"Promise?"
"I promise"
The blonde had kissed her daughter's head and the young girl kissed her mother's cheek in return. JJ had left out, little did she know the case her team got would change her family forever.
