Thirty minutes later Booth lightly put his hand on Brennan's shoulder, she looked over at him and smiled. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I mean I'm not okay, okay, but I'm not going to go gamble right this second. I might need to go to a meeting this afternoon I'll see how the morning goes." Brennan could only nod, she didn't really understand what Booth was going through.

"How's the little guy?"

Brennan looked down at Hank and lightly touched his cheek. "Hank is doing okay, he was awake

when I got here. Kristen said he had a good night; he was stable the whole night. I got to change him. I don't think liked it, but it didn't bother him enough to make his alarms go off…"

"That's good."

"Yes. Do you want to hold him?"

"I will after he gets done with his feeding…" Brennan nodded and started rocking Hank. Booth sat on a stool and watched Brennan with Hank. A little while later with Kristen's help Brennan transferred Hank to Booth's arms, "hey tiger." Hank opened his eyes and stretched. After about twenty minutes Booth looked at Brennan "Bones, I gotta go to a meeting…I can't…"

"Okay." Booth helped Brennan carefully put Hank on his incubator. "I'll see you later, tiger. I love you."

Booth turned to Brennan, "I don't know if I'll be back to get you for lunch…"

"That's okay , I'll get something from the cafeteria…"

"Okay. I'll be out in time to pick Christine up…"

"Okay."

"I love you, Bones."

"I love you too, Booth."

Brennan watched Booth leave the N.I.C.U. then she turned to Hank, "Hank, your daddy is one of the strongest people I know. I don't really understand what he's going through, but I do know that he'll get though this. I'm glad he's home. I missed him very much…." Brennan ran a finger over Hank's tiny hand.

"Doctor Brennan, do you want hold Hank again?"

"Yes, if you think he'll tolerate it…."

"I think he'll be just fine. Where is Agent Booth?" Kristen situated Hank on Brennan's chest and covered him with a blanket.

"Agent Booth had a meeting to go to… He'll be back later this afternoon."

"Oh." Kristen checked Hank's monitors and walked away.

A few hours later Booth sat on the stool next to Brennan who was again slowly rocking Hank as his feeding tube ran. "Bones?"

"Booth! What time is it?"

"3:30."

"Shouldn't you be picking Christine up?"

"I asked Max to. I needed to see both of you…"

"Okay. Booth, are you okay?"

"Yeah for now. How's the little guy?"

"Hank is basically the same as he was this morning, which Kristen told me that was a good thing. I've held him for every feeding and then some. I've also changed all of his diapers. He's getting used to them."

"That's good."

"Would you like to hold him?"

"Sure." Brennan got Kristen's attention and she helped Brennan transfer Hank to Booth's arms.

"I'll be back, I'm going to go to the restroom."

"Okay."

Brennan smiled and kissed Booth's cheek as she walked by him.

A few minutes later Brennan came back and smiled, Booth was slowly rocking Hank with his eyes closed. After snapping a quick picture, she sat down next to him. Booth opened his eyes and grinned at Brennan.

"I called dad and asked that he keep Christine for the night. I thought a night alone would be good for us."

"it will be," They sat in science until Brennan's stomach growled, Booth grinned, "You didn't eat lunch?"

"I did, just fries and iced tea. The salad didn't look fresh…."

"Lets go get some dinner-" Brennan's phone buzzed in her pocket she sighed when she saw she saw Max's name on the caller id. She turned and smiled as Christine's face flied her phone screen "Hey sweetheart."

"Mommy is daddy really there with you?"

"Yes."

"And he'll get me from school tomorrow?"

"Yes sweetheart. Daddy is staying home with us now. He's not staying somewhere else anymore."

"Okay."

"Daddy is holding Hank at the moment. I'll let you see him in a moment. Remember Hank has the tube in his mouth that helps him breathe. He also has other tubes and wires on his body to make sure he's doing okay. It looks scary, but none of it hurts him…."

"Un-huh…"

Brennan glanced at Booth and noticed that Kristen was adjusting Hank so that Christine could see him better. "You can see Hank and daddy in a few minutes, his nurse is helping daddy hold him better so you can see him better."

"K."

A Few minutes later Kristen walked away and Brennan turned her phone so Christine could see Hank.

"He's tiny."

"Yes, but he's growing every day."

"Mommy, he's naked!"

Brennan tried and failed to hide a laugh, "he is, but that because Hank is so small clothes don't fit him right now. Plus, with all the tubes and wires it would be hard to put clothes on him."

"Oh. Can he come home yet?"

"No, he's got a lot of growing to do."

"He can grow at home…"

"He will but because he's so tiny he needs to stay here so the doctors and can make sure he's getting better."

Hank stretched and his heart monitor started beeping. "Mommy?" Kristen quickly walked over "He's okay. The lead is loose…"

"Mommy?" Brennan tuned back to her phone. "Hank is okay, Christine. He has a monitor for his heart and when he stretched it came loose."

"Oh. Why does he have it?"

"Because sometimes when babies are born early their hearts don't beat properly and it lets the doctors and nurses know if that happens. Hank's heart is fine though."

"Okay. Grandpa is making spaghetti…"

"That sounds good, enjoy your spaghetti and spending the night with Grandpa. Daddy and I will call you before bedtime to say goodnight."

"Okay."

When Brennan's phone went dark she got up and walked over to Booth.

"Ready to go get some dinner?"

Brennan nodded, "Can we just go home and can you make pancakes?"

"Sure Bones."

Together they settled Hank in his incubator. "See you later, bud. Mommy and I love you so much."

As Booth was pulling out of the hospital parking garage, Brennan reached for his hand.

"You okay, Bones?"

"Yes, I just wish we or at least I could stay at the hospital 24/7 until Hank comes home."

"I know. I wish I could too, but it wouldn't be that comfortable or good for us. Plus, we need to be home at night with Christine."

"I know."

"We'll go home and have dinner, call Christine, then we'll go back to the hospital."

"Okay."

"Do you want strawberries or chocolate chips in your pancakes?"

"Can I have both?"

"Anything for you, Bones."
