A/n: Hi, I'm here with the first original chapter for this story, I hope you enjoy. Also, I'd like to say the idea for this chapter was suggested by one of my readers named Zirdor, thank you so much for sharing your idea with me

With that settled, enjoy the chapter

The First Island

After the riders' incident with the Dead Song, they flew in search for an island of their own and as promised, they let Snotlout choose the first island they'd check

They kept flying for a while until they arrived that seemed to have a pretty dense forest

"Snotlout, are you sure this is the island you're going to choose?" Hiccup asked as they landed at the shore

"Yeah, just look at it, pretty good island, don't you think?" Snotlout asked

"Well, I don't hear any weird noises that attract our dragons, so I'd say it's something" Blake said

"I will be fine as long as we don't encounter another Dead Song for a while" Fishlegs said, with a shiver

"Hey, what's that smell?" Tuffnut asked as he sniffed the air

"It's kind of weird" Ruffnut said as she also sniffed the air

The other riders sniffed the air as well as the dragons, it didn't take them long to smell the same thing the twins did

"Huh, it's actually quite agreeable" Astrid said

"Maybe there's a bunch of flowers in the forest or something" Blake suggested, making Snotlout groan

"If I had known I never would have chosen this island" he said

"Snotlout, there's nothing wrong with just some flowers and we don't really have time to look for another island" Hiccup said, gesturing at the sun which was setting, meaning the night was going to arrive soon

"Fine" Snotlout said, still annoyed

Later that night, the riders and the dragons were resting around a campfire while eating some fish along with some berries Blake selected

"Blake, how can you always tell which berries are poisonous and which aren't?" Fishlegs asked as he ate a berry

"Most of the berries that grow at Outcast Island are poisonous and the ones that aren't, are really easy to confuse" Blake explained as he finished eating "So, I guess it's something I learned over the years"

"You could've warned us sooner" Tuffnut complained, his tongue along with Ruffnut's were a bit kind of swollen

"I did warn you, but you didn't listen when I told you not to eat those red berries" Blake answered "Anyway… Hiccup, I was thinking, maybe we should take a better look around the island tomorrow"

"He's right, if we are going to choose an island for ourselves, we need to make sure it's not a dangerous one" Astrid added

Hiccup nodded, knowing that they were right, there were still in an unknown land for them and they had no way to know what was waiting for them

"That's the first thing we'll do tomorrow morning" Hiccup said "This might not be the island we are going to stay, but I can't say it's not a good candidate"

"We'll have to see it tomorrow" Blake said

The next morning, the riders were walking through the island, which most of it was a dense forest

"So far so good" Fishlegs said as he looked around

"But it's just forest" Ruffnut complained

"It's nice but, I don't really think our dragons will have much space to fly" Blake said as he gestured at the dragons who were having some trouble walking through the trees, specially Hookfang

"Maybe that's why we haven't found any other dragons in here" Astrid said

"Seriously, what kind of dragon would live here?" Snotlout asked

"None that I know" Tuffnut said

They riders kept walking further into the forest until something got their attention some of the trees were cut down

"How weird, who cut down these trees?" Hiccup asked

"Are other people living here?" Fishlegs asked

"I don't think so, we would have encountered someone by now" Blake said

"Who did this then?" Fishlegs asked

Right on cue, the dragons started to growl at the forest

"Guess we're about to find out" Hiccup said, although there was some nervousness in his voice

Then, a big brown dragon without legs, pretty big wings and horns that aimed back on its head showed itself to the riders with a growl

"It's a Timberjack!" Fishlegs said, immediately recognizing the dragon's species

The Timberjack roared at them, he didn't seem to like the fact the riders were in his territory, so the dragons shot their blast at him

The Timberjack used his wings to protect himself from the attacks. However, the sparks left by Hookfang's fire blasts or Stormfly's fire stream lit some of the trees and grass on fire

"Hold your fire!" Hiccup ordered, realizing that the last thing they needed was to start a forest fire, especially when the dragons couldn't fly properly in a forest as dense as the one they were in

"What should we do then?!" Snotlout asked as the Timberjack changed his attention to the fire, trying to use his wings to create gusts of wind to extinguish it

"We have to leave while we can" Hiccup said as he got on Toothless' back

The other riders followed Hiccup's lead, riding their dragons to fly away but the Timberjack, who finished taking care of the fire, noticed what they were trying to, so he flew after them

The dragons couldn't fly in a fast or agile way, the branches of the trees didn't allow them to and their leaves wasn't giving them a good vision either, so they had to fly almost blindly

On the other hand, the Timberjack was flying through the trees as if they were nothing, his sharp wings cut through the trees without trouble

"He's still behind us!" Astrid said

"Let's split up! That way we'll confuse him and will give us a chance to escape, we'll reunite at the same shore we landed yesterday!" Hiccup ordered

The riders nodded and began to fly in different directions, which took the Timberjack by surprise

He clearly got confused as Hiccup said, the Timberjack looked around where each of the riders flew, not sure of which of them to follow

After letting out an annoyed snarl, the Timberjack flew off into the forest

Not too far away, Blake and Thunder landed in the forest, still processing what just happened

"Okay, that was more intense that I thought it would be" Blake said as he got off Thunder's back, letting his dragon stretch and catch his breath

"Let's get back to the shore and fast" Blake said but just before he could get on his dragon's back, they heard something, so Blake gestured Thunder to hide behind some bushes while he hid behind a tree

Blake peaked over the tree's side and saw the Timberjack, he was clearly making sure any of the riders were close

Then, the Timberjack looked where Blake was, so he quickly hid and hoped that the dragon didn't see him, but the tree was cut down by the Timberjack's wings

The Timberjack roared at Blake who jumped back, just in time to dodge a fire ball from him

Seeing his rider in danger, Thunder roared and got out of his hiding spot, shotting a lightning blast at the Timberjack in the process, who barely dodged it

The Timberjack realized that on his own he was no match for a Skrill like Thunder but he could still do something about a human like Blake, so he charged towards him

Blake rolled out of the way but the Timberjack managed to wrap his tail around Blake's leg, he tried to nail his spear to the ground in order to stop himself from being dragged by the Timberjack but it was useless

Blake lost his grip on his spear and was dragged by the Timberjack, leaving his spear behind. Of course, Thunder wasn't going to stand still and do nothing, so he tried to fly after them but he hit multiple tree branches and lost the Timberjack

Thunder growled in frustration before grabbing Blake's spear with his mouth and fly off to the shore

At the shore, Hiccup and Toothless landed, still processing how fast everything happened

"Good job back there, bud" Hiccup said, patting Toothless' head

"Hiccup!" a female voice said, it was Astrid who landed next to him "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine, good thing the Timberjack got confused long enough for us to lose it" Hiccup said

Then, Snotlout and Hookfang came out of the forest, it seemed like they had a hard time in the forest, both of them were covered in branches and leaves from the trees. Also, Hookfang wasn't flying properly and crashed in front of Hiccup and Astrid

"I'm really starting to regret choosing this island, you know?" Snotlout said annoyedly as Fishlegs and Meatlug landed

"I can't believe it, we got to see a Timberjack from up close. I mean, we have seen them but never from that close" Fishlegs said excitedly but he realized that the others were giving him a confused look, even Meatlug looked confused "What?"

Finally, the twins along with Barf and Belch landed

"That was awesome!" Tuffnut said

"Yeah, I can't believe how much I missed being chased by a wild dragon" Ruffnut agreed

"Well, we should leave before the Timberjack finds us" Hiccup said

"Wait, where's Blake?" Fishlegs asked

Then, they saw Thunder flying towards them but when he landed, he dropped Blake's spear in front of them

"Isn't that Blake's spear?" Snotlout asked as he cleaned himself from the leaves

"Is he-" Fishlegs began but Thunder interrupted him with a growl, he already knew what the rider was about to ask

"The Timberjack must have caught him" Astrid said

"We have to go back at look for him" Hiccup said

"Do we really have to?" Snotlout asked, making Hiccup and Astrid glare at him "Just asking"

"And how are we supposed to find him?" Ruffnut asked

"I can barely see my own nose in that forest" Tuffnut said

Then, Stormfly sniffed Blake's spear curiously. However, she kept sniffing the air

"What is it, girl? You got something?" Astrid asked

Stormfly walked back into the forest as she kept sniffing, with the other riders following her not too far away

"Will Stormfly be able to track Blake down?" Fishlegs asked

"I hope so, if he's really on his own with that Timberjack he is really big trouble" Hiccup said as they followed Stormfly

Back with Blake, he was still being dragged by the Timberjack until they arrived at a clearing, place where the dragon slammed Blake into a tree

"Okay, I did not see that coming" Blake groaned in pain as he got up but he quickly had to dodge a fire ball from the Timberjack

Blake tried to grab his spear to fight back but he found nothing, he completely forgot he left his spear behind

"Great, just what I needed" he said as he pulled out his dagger, he didn't want to hurt the Timberjack but it was the only thing he had to defend himself

However, one thing Blake noticed is that the Timberjack wasn't using much his fire. Instead, he rather to use his tail to slam him against the trees or tried to bite him

Also, Blake limited himself to dodge the Timberjack's attacks, he didn't want to risk to hurt him and make him madder than he already was

"Come on, Blake, think. What calms down an angry Timberjack?!" Blake said to himself

Then, the Timberjack tried to bite Blake one more time, so being cornered he jumped on the Timberjack's back

Of course, the dragon didn't seem to like having a human on his back, so he shook around, trying to get Blake off his back

"Just calm down! I'm not trying to hurt you!" Blake yelled as he tried to stay on the Timberjack's back. At one point, Blake rubbed his boot through the Timberjack's back, trying to stay there. However, that seemed to calm down the dragon a bit

Confused, Blake rubbed his boot through the Timberjack's back again, but this time he heard how the dragon clearly purred in pleasure

That seem to give Blake an idea, so he started to scratch the Timberjack's back, making him calm down and purr in pleasure

After a few more minutes, Blake jumped off the Timberjack's back, so the dragon looked at him and gently nuzzled him

"See? I was not trying to hurt you" Blake said as he petter the Timberjack, who seem to enjoy it

"But I don't blame you, you were just trying to protect your home from strangers, weren't you?" Blake added, remembering how the Timberjack tried to lit out the fire that Hookfang and Stormfly accidentally started

Blake kept scratching the Timberjack's back, which he seemed to like very much, he even licked Blake as a way to say thanks

"And maybe you were a bit grumpy too by the itch, I get it, Thunder also gets grumpy when he's itchy in a place he can't reach" Blake said

The Timberjack after being satisfied with the back scratch he smiled and nuzzled Blake one more time, making him chuckle

"Listen, I bet my friends are looking for me right now, so I have to reunite with them, you think you can help me?" Blake asked

The Timberjack nodded and lowered himself to let Blake ride him. Then, he flew off into the forest

Back with the other riders, they were still following Stormfly as she tried to track Blake down but after a while, she sniffed the air as she seemed to have lost the track

"Looks like the track ends here" Astrid said

"But there's nothing here" Snotlout said

Stormfly kept sniffing the air but instead of getting Blake's scent, she seemed to get other scent, scent that the other dragons and riders also got

"I know that smell" Tuffnut said

"It's too familiar" Ruffnut said

"It's the same one we smelled when we arrived" Hiccup said

"But there are not flowers nearby, in fact there are no flowers in this forest" Snotlout said

All of the riders and dragons looked around trying to find the source of the scent until they heard a cracking noise, they all looked where the sound came from

For a few moments they saw nothing but then they saw four blasts of acid flying towards them, so the riders ducked in time

"What was that?!" Snotlout asked

"Must have been Changewings" Astrid said as they got up

"I don't think so" Fishlegs said "That acid looked different, so it's definitely not Changewing acid"

Before anyone could say anything else, the same scent made itself more intense until a dragon showed up

It was mostly green with spines going down through its neck which was long, body and tail. However, what took the riders by surprise is that the dragon had four heads and looked both hungry and angry

"Wow, four heads!" Tuffnut said excitedly

"Why don't you have four heads?" Ruffnut asked as she looked at Barf and Belch

"It's a Snaptrapper!" Fishlegs said "The agreeable scent must have been its way to lure us into its trap"

"The good thing is: we didn't fall for it… the bad thing: that made it even angrier" Hiccup said

"And hungrier" Astrid added

All of the Snaptrapper's heads roared angrily before spitting acid, which the riders dodged

"Toothless, plasma blast!" Hiccup ordered

Toothless did as he was told, shotting a plasma blast at the Snaptrapper, stunning it for a moment but it quickly recovered and looked even angrier. The other dragons were about to shot their blasts, but Hiccup stopped them

"Wait, a bad aimed shot and we'll start a forest fire" he said

"What can we do then?" Astrid asked "We can't fight back and our dragons can't really fly in this forest"

The Snaptrapper flew up and was about to charge at the riders. However, a gust of wind pushed it back and slammed it against a tree

Confused, the riders looked up and saw the Timberjack, he was the one who created the gust of wind with his wing

"The Timberjack" Hiccup said

"Is he protecting us?" Fishlegs asked

The riders were obviously confused but when the Timberjack landed in front of them and Blake of off his back, they were even more confused

"Whoa, what in the name of Thor just happened?" Hiccup asked as Thunder happily walked towards his rider

"I'll tell you later" Blake said as he patted Thunder's head "I'll just say I made friends with this big guy over here"

"But why did he attack us?" Astrid asked

"He was just protecting his home from strangers like us… and he was also kind of grumpy for being itchy in a place he couldn't reach" Blake explained

The Snaptapper recovered from the slam and growled at the ridders and dragons, specially at the Timberjack

"Is that a Snaptrapper?" Blake asked

"Yeah, the scent we smelled when we first arrived was its doing, it was trying to lure us into its trap" Hiccup said

One of the Snaptrapper's heads spit some acid to some tree branches to make them fall on top of the riders and dragons. However, the Timberjack used his wings to create some kind of tent around them to protect them

"Alright, so let me guess, we can't attack the Snaptrapper without risking to cause a forest fire" Blake said, so Hiccup nodded

"Man, I still can't believe that dragon has four heads. I mean, how can it even handle that much?" Tuffnut said

"Barf and Belch tend to get their necks stuck everywhere, they even finished in a knot once" Ruffnut said with a chuckle

"That's it!" Hiccup said "We'll confuse the Snaptrapper, it has four heads and each of them will go for a different target"

"So that way they'll end up in a knot and defenseless" Blake said, understanding Hiccup's plan

All of the riders got on their dragons' backs as the Timberjack raised his wings to let them fly

"Okay, everyone, split up and be careful with the acid" Hiccup said

All of the riders started to fly in different directions, doing their best to dodge the acid from the Snaptrapper as well as the branches and leaves from the trees

The Timberjack noticed how the riders were struggling, so he flew around the area and used his wings to cut down the trees, almost hitting the Snaptrapper in the process who started to fly in an effort to escape from the falling trees

With more space to fly around, the riders now had the chance to successfully confuse the Snaptrapper, each of its heads was aiming for a different target and quickly enough its necks got tied into a knot, which also made it lose control over its flight and crashed on the ground

Before all of the Snaptrapper's heads tried to untie themselves, the Timberjack landed in front of them and roared, he was not happy with the fact such and aggressive dragon invaded his forest

The Snaptrapper on the other side, looked scared and each head whimpered. After all, it was just a dragon trying to get food and it look really desperate for something to eat, which was more evident when its stomach growled

"What should we do with it?" Blake asked "It attacked us, yes but it just wanted something to eat"

Hiccup knew Blake was right, any dragon desperate for food would eat anything to satisfy its hunger

"Let's bring it something to eat, maybe that will calm the Snaptrapper down and it'll leave" Hiccup said "Blake, come with me, the others keep an eye on it"

Hiccup and Blake flew off on their dragons while the others along with the Timberjack stayed to keep an eye on the Snaptrapper as settled

A few minutes later they returned with some fish, which they dropped in front of the Snaptrapper

Hesitantly and still scared, one of the heads of the Snaptrapper sniffed the fished and started to eat, the other three heads followed its lead and began to eat. It didn't take them longer than five minutes to finish all the fish

When it finished eating, the Snaptrapper stood up and untied its necks. Then, it looked at the riders, it looked annoyed for being defeated, still slightly intimidated especially by the Timberjack but it also looked grateful

Without causing any more trouble, the Snaptrapper flew off

"Let's hope that dragon doesn't cause anymore trouble just to eat something" Blake said relieved

"We should also leave too, we still have to look for an island" Hiccup said "I'm pretty sure we can agree this is not the island we'll stay"

"Yeah, totally" Snotlout said "I still can't believe I chose this island" Snotlout said

"Okay, big guy, take care" Blake said as he scratched the Timberjack's back, which he liked a lot "And next time someone arrives try to know their intentions before attacking"

The Timberjack happily nuzzled Blake one more time to say goodbye

Then, the riders flew off on their dragons as the Timberjack looked at them from the ground

At the sky, all of the other riders looked at Blake

"So, care to explain us how did you become friends with the Timberjack?" Astrid asked

"Sure, it's kind of funny how I managed to do it" Blake said "And before I forget, the next time we find an island we'll check it out first. I don't want to have more encounters with aggressive or hungry dragons"

"Yeah, I agree" Fishlegs said

"Alright, gang, we still have an island to find" Hiccup said as he flew faster, so the other riders followed his example

With that said, they kept flying further into the great beyond
