The morning sun filtered through the dorm room's heavy curtains, casting long shadows
across the floor. Cualli stirred under the covers. He blinked his eyes open, only to be greeted by
Isaac sleeping in the bed across the room, his massive frame nearly spilling over the edges of
the mattress and Akari hiding in the covers.
Cualli groaned softly, rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he pushed himself into a sitting
position. His muscles protested with every movement, a stark reminder of yesterday's combat
initiation. He reached for his scroll, checking the time. The screen lit up with a cheerful 7:45 AM.
Seven forty-fi—
He sprang out of bed, stumbling over his feet as the realization hit him like a punch. "Oh
crap, I'm late!"
The dorm room door swung open with a loud bang, and Aja stormed in like a whirlwind,
her usual bright energy tinged with annoyance. Her lavender cloak billowed behind her as she
crossed the room in three determined strides, yanking the covers off Cualli's bed.
"Get up, Cualli!" she demanded, her voice a mix of impatience and amusement. "We
have class in fifteen minutes, and you are not skipping out on Professor Goodwitch's first
lecture!"
Cualli barely had time to register the cold air against his skin before Aja grabbed his arm,
her grip firm. "I'm up, I'm up!" he protested, trying to free himself from her hold. But Aja was
having none of it.
"Don't care," she replied, dragging him towards the door. "If you're late, she'll turn us
both into practice dummies for her combat demonstrations."
Isaac snorted in his sleep, rolling over with a loud grunt. Cualli glanced. "Outback to his
other teammates, Akari is still tucked in bed with her hand covering her face, "Out of everyone, I
thought I would be the first one awake?" Akari thought before seeing Aja throw her outfit on top
of her.
"Come on, get up!"
"But I'm not even dressed!" Cualli protested as Aja continued to pull him along.
"Then get dressed faster," she retorted, tossing his shirt and pants.
The next few minutes passed in a blur of hurried motions and grumbling as Cualli
stumbled into his clothes, Aja keeping a watchful eye on him to ensure he didn't try to crawl
back into bed. Once he was finally presentable—or at least not in danger of being expelled for
indecency—Aja shoved his boots into his hands and practically pushed him out the door.
"You know," Cualli muttered as he hopped down the hallway, trying to pull on his boots,
"you could've just let me sleep for five more minutes."
Aja shot him a sidelong glance, her lavender eyes gleaming with amusement. "And miss
watching you scramble around like a headless Beowolf? Not a chance."
Cualli chuckles at that. "You're evil, you know that?"
"Of course," Aja replied with a smirk, "but at least I'm getting you to class on time."
The two of them hurried through the bustling corridors of Beacon Academy, dodging students
and faculty alike as they made their way to the classroom. The air buzzed with excitement and
chatter, the start of a new semester evident in the lively atmosphere. Cualli could feel the
nervous energy in his chest, a mix of anticipation and anxiety. He had faced Grimm and outlaws,
but the idea of being late to class—and facing Professor Goodwitch's wrath—was an entirely
different kind of fear.
They finally reached the classroom door just as the bell rang. Aja flashed Cualli a triumphant
grin before pushing the door open and marching inside. Cualli followed, trying to shake off the
last remnants of sleep from his mind.
Professor Goodwitch was already at the front of the room, her stern gaze sweeping over
the students as they took their seats. She spared Cualli and Aja a brief, appraising glance
before continuing the lecture, her voice crisp and commanding.
"Today, we will begin our studies on tactical combat and the proper use of Dust in battle.
Take out your textbooks and turn to page fifty-three."
Cualli sighed in relief as he sank into his chair, his heart rate finally slowing. Aja nudged
him with her elbow, a smug grin on her face.
"See? We made it."
Cualli rolled his eyes, but he couldn't suppress a smile. "Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Aja."
As the lesson began and Professor Goodwitch's voice filled the room, Cualli shifted his focus to
the notes. " Wait, this is basic dust. I should be okay?" he thought before looking at the
whiteboard and seeing the dust, what it was, and how it was used. "Yeah, I should be OK right
now." he thought before flipping the page over and sketching a few weapon ideas that might
work, one of them being an axe that transforms into a two-sided sword filled with gears and
everything needed to pull something like this off.
Until he felt a tap on his shoulder. "Psst, hey, sorry to bother you," Ruby whispered,
looking at Cualli's blueprint in awe." Did you just draw that?"
Cualli quickly looks at Goodwitch and sees she is halfway through the lecture," uhh yeah, I was
drawing ideas for my semblance."
"Wait, you never told me what it is?"
"Oh, it allows me to manipulate my aura to things like summoning weapons or push it to
things like giving a small portion to others and coding whatever weapon I have."
Ruby's jaw drops before digging through her files and pulling out a pile of weapon
Blueprints that are nearly ripped and smudged leads."Check these out! These are some of the
designs I've been working on! I know you had some unique weapons, but now that I know your
semblance lets you create them from aura—"
Then they hear a cough, and the two see Goodwitch giving them a quick look before
returning to the whiteboard. Cualli grabs one of Ruby's blueprints and writes," Let's talk after
class." Ruby nods and does her best to pay attention to the class.
In what felt like a blink, the class was over, and not even a second sooner, Ruby pushed
the pile to Cualli's side," Okay, so you've got to see this!" She quickly flipped through the papers,
her eyes gleaming as she found the one she wanted to show him first. "This one right here—I've
been working on it forever!" Ruby continued, pointing to a particularly complex design, "is a
hybrid between a sniper rifle and a mace. I figured, why not have a weapon that can smash
through heavy armor up close and still pick off enemies from a distance?"
"Wow, this looks good, but for me, at least a weapon like this needs to follow the same
theme, like maybe making it into a shotgun or cannon… actuality, no to the canon, but still,"
Cualli said before attempting to summon the blueprint, and it came out well.
"Oh my god, you did it! Come on, use it!"
Cualli pushed the button, and it started to transform; it was fine until they heard
something snap from the inside, and Cualli quickly coded his hands and crushed with ease.
"Wait, why did you do that? It looked like it was going fine?"
"It was, but some had gone wrong, and I didn't want to risk it. I only skimmed your
blueprint, so it won't come out right."
"Aww… so why not give you some of my blueprints and see if we can try again later?"
"Yeah, I don't mind, next time."
After Cualli said that, she left, and Cualli noticed they were the last people in the
classroom," Well, it looks like I have about fifteen minutes until my next class… Now, what
should I do? Maybe I could hang out with Aja and go from there?"
After he said that, he returned to the dorm and saw that only Akari was watching
something on her scroll," hey, Akari, have you seen Aja around?"
"No, I haven't seen her, but she left a note on your bed after class."
Cualli heads to his bed and reads the note," Hey, Cualli, if you are reading this, then I am
hanging out with Yang and some of her friends, and you should get to know some of our
teammates."
"She can't tell me what to do," Cualli said before laying on his bed and, at the last
second, saw a vine wrap around his ankle and dangle him from the ceiling and a note tied to
another vine.
"If you are reading this, then you probably saw my note and said something like, 'You
can't tell what to do,' and now you are here. Now, I could use this time to rant about how you
need to go out and stop being a shut-in, but I'm not; near my bed, there is the primary support
for the vine; just tell whoever is near it to cut it, and the trap will fall apart. Also, if you try to cut it
on your own, I set it so the vine gets thicker until I undo it when the day is over. :3"
"I should have known she would pull something like this."
Akari looks up at Cualli and sees the vine system connecting to the nearby Aja bed. " Do
you need help?"
"Yeah, the notes said that near her bed are the weak points. Could you cut it so I could
get down?"
"Sure," Akari said before grabbing her weapon and cutting the vine; Cualli crashed into
his bed, headed back to her bed, and interrupted the show.
"I guess I should take Aja's advice?"
"Hey, Akari… what are you watching?"
"Murder Drones."
"Can I join you?"
"Really? I didn't think you would be interested in a show like Murder Drones.
"I mean, I saw a few clips, and they look neat."
Akari sets her to scroll up and move to the other side of the bed; Cualli sits on the other
side," what is the show about?"
"Just watch it."
"... then who is your favorite character then?"
"...Uzi."
As Akari said, Cualli pays attention to Uzi throughout the episode: Well, this show is…
interesting. I mean, this is episode seven, so I am lost, but still, wait, what time is it?
Cualli checks his scroll and sees it is about 9:45, "Akari, what is your next class?"
"I think it's history, by Oobleck. Why do you have the same class?"
"Yeah, and we have about five minutes until the class starts," Cualli said to Akari.
Akari grabbed her bookbag, tossed Cualli to him, and left the room without a second.
"I guess that's a yes?" Cualli thought before following behind her and soon beside her.
They moved quickly down the bustling hallway, dodging groups of students chatting by their
lockers. The air buzzed with morning energy, and the clamor of conversations and footsteps
echoed off the walls.
As they rounded a corner, the familiar sight of Classroom 2B came into view, Professor
Oobleck's nameplate glinting in the light. Cualli could feel the subtle shift in atmosphere as they
approached, the hallway noise fading into the background as the door to the classroom
beckoned ahead.
With a glance at Akari, Cualli pushed open the door, and they stepped inside just as the
clock ticked toward 9:50 and got the seats at the end of the
"Welcome to History One–on–one! Please, take one of your textbooks and go to page
two hundred and fifty!" Professor Oobleck said, his words tumbling out almost faster after every
word that came out his mouth.
... is he on crack? Because no sane man would talk this fast? And it's 9:50. Is it too early
to have this energy? Cualli thought before turning to the page and saw it was about Vacuo.
"This chapter goes over the history of Vacuo! History, as all of you know, vacuo is the
kingdom of power, headmasters, and warlords! For now, even though Theodore is the current
headmaster of Shade Academy, there isn't a doubt that the Sol naciente clan and its leader,
Midas Sol Naciente, are the ones holding power through things like smuggling, human
trafficking, and many more!"
Then one of the students raised their hand," Yeah, but they are an organization. Why
couldn't Shade send out someone to care for them, returning the power to the academy?"
They tried! But they have influence all over the remnant, so if they got word that Shade
or whoever they might be, they could move to a new base, and even then, they have to deal
with Midas himself! He has several names, but one of them is from those who are defective from
the clan that Midas liked, and he is the strongest human today!" Oobleck said to the students,
which led to them lowering their hands, only leading to someone else raising their hand.
"But he is just a man? Why not, I don't know, throw a heat-sinking rocket or something
that would kill anyone else?"
"That is an excellent question, but you need to remember that besides his most trusted,
we don't know what his semblance might be, and his followers are roughly around the fifty to
hundred thousand who have the same skill as an average huntsman, and will seek revenge and
have a leader just as or more skilled than Midas! But as much as I love talking about this, we
must focus on the lesson!"
With that, Oobleck continued the lesson, and everyone wrote down the keynotes. Still,
not Cualli, who was looking at the picture the textbook had of Midas. His body was seen in a
silhouette, a lean figure, with a small part of light showing that he had an almost superhero body
type standing over a pile of bodies.
As Oobleck continued his rapid-fire lecture, the clock ticked away, and the students
could barely keep up with the torrent of information. Cualli glanced at Akari, who was equally
absorbed. Her eyes fixed on the pages of the textbook; she tried to capture every detail Oobleck
was throwing at them.
"...and remember, understanding the history of Vacuo is crucial for anyone who wishes
to grasp the power dynamics of our world today!" Oobleck's voice rang out, emphasizing his
point just as the bell chimed, signaling the end of class.
The students began to stir, closing their textbooks and gathering their belongings. The whirlwind
of information still dazed some.
"Alright, class dismissed! Don't forget to review chapters 12 through 14 for next time.
We'll be diving into the history of the Great War!" Oobleck called out, his voice still as energetic
as ever.
Cualli let out a breath he didn't realize he'd been holding. He turned to Akari, who was
already sliding her textbook into her bag. "Well, that was... intense," he muttered, still processing
the lecture.
Akari nodded, her usual composure slightly shaken by the sheer pace of the class.
"Definitely. I don't know how he keeps up that energy, but I guess that's Oobleck for you."
"So, what's your next class?"
Akari checks her scroll: " It says here that I have Grimm studies. Do you have the same
thing?"
Cualli checks his scroll," Yeah, got that class too… So what are you planning to do until
then?"
"probably eat something, and we have about, like, what an hour or so until that class
starts, you want to join me?"
"Sure, I don't mind," Cualli said before the two headed to the cafeteria and saw Aja and
Isaac eating at a table. Aja looked up from her plate, catching sight of Cualli and Akari as they
entered the cafeteria. With a wide grin, she waved them over enthusiastically. "Hey, you two!
Grab some food and come sit with us!"
And they do so, and Cualli looks at Isaac, that is eating a roasted chicken, before seeing
several more on his plate; okay, what the fuck…. Still, he is massive, so it makes sense, but why
a whole chicken by yourself?
Akari looked at Isaac, finishing the chicken he was eating and picking up another one,"...
so we both agree that if he wants to, he could crush our heads in an instant, right?"
"Yeah, you could say that… I know all our food is paid for, but how expensive is his
average day just for food?"
"I don't want to think about it right now."
They made their way through the crowded cafeteria, dodging trays and balancing their
food before reaching the table. As they sat down, Cualli leaned in, still eyeing the remains of
Isaac's meal. "You know, you could've saved some for the rest of us, right?"
Isaac looked up, unfazed, and shrugged. "Should've gotten here sooner."
Aja laughed, motioning to the empty seats. "Sit down before Isaac decides to eat your
lunch too."
Cualli and Akari said nothing until they saw Isaac finishing the chicken and getting
another one:"... so what is your average number of colonizers daily? I have never seen anyone
eat roasted chickens like they are bite-sized."
Isaac stops mid-bite and looks at Akari." I say around 12 or so thousand calories per day." As
Isaac said this, the whole team stopped and looked at him in awe, and Akari took a double take
on the chicken in his hand and looked up and down at him. " What?"
Aja blinks before clearing her throat," S-so, where do you usually go to get all those
calories?"
"mostly buffet chains since they are the cheap ways I could get my daily amount… even
though I am banned from most major buffet chains since I almost crippled one because I kept
on going back on an almost daily basis."
Aja and Cualli chuck nervously, and Akari slowly pulls her tray closer to herself.
"Don't worry, I won't lunge against you guys over food," Isaac said, finishing the chicken
and picking up another," so what is your next class? Aja and I have Grimm studies."
"Uhh yeah, that is me and Akari. Next class." Cualli said to Isacc.
"Wow! Hey, why don't we sit in the same row? I have seen Yang and her team doing the
same. Why don't we steal their idea?" Aja said to everyone, and they all shrugged.
"Talking about that class, who's the professor?" Akari said, and Aja smirked, looking right
at Cualli.
"Oh, I think he knows~," Aja says with a wider grin.
"Come on, why not break it to them?"
"I just want you to tell them yourself!"
"Fine... it's my dad, Thomas Sunheart; he's a very… hands-on teacher, to say the least."
Akari and Isaac looked at Cualli with a surprised look," Oh, then what you mean,'
hands-on?'" Isaac said to Cualli.
"... you know how you would dissect things like frogs and rats back in school? Yeah,
think of that, but learning how the Grimm anatomy works and which pinpoints to attack if the
huntsman semblance is ineffective against that pacific Grimm."
Akari and Isaac looked surprised before Isaac shook his head and took a deep breath."
To be honest… You way carried yourself, but it doesn't give the feeling that your dad is a
professor in Beacon?" Isacc said.
Then Aja's scroll went off, and she grabbed her things," come on, our class is about to
start."
Cualli took one last sip of his drink, glancing at the remains of Isaac's meal, then stuffed
the last bit of bread into his mouth before following suit. "Yeah, yeah, let's not be late."
Akari and Isaac stood as well, collecting their trays and sliding them onto the conveyor.
As they left the cafeteria, the bustling hallway greeted them with the steady flow of students
heading to their respective classes.
They rounded a corner, and Cualli caught sight of the familiar door to the Classroom. As
Cualli and everyone else got into their seats, they all saw Thomas standing beside a large steel
create, and inside of it was a hint of heavy breathing and trying to smash its way through it.
"Good afternoon, everyone; let me get the formalities out of the way. My name is
Thomas Sunheart, and welcome to Grimm anatomy," as he finished the create, he nudged
towards himself, "Now, as many of you may suspect, yes, this is a Grimm, and yes, this is part
of the lesson."
Then he presses a button, releasing the create revealing a Beowulf lunging towards
Thomas. Still, he pulls out his twin war hammers, each looking like they are meant to weld
two-handed, and as he lowers his stance to an almost crouching position and right when the
Grimm swung its claw towards him, he waves. However, it pulls back his weapons, and with the
push of a button, the end transforms into mini jet engines. Thomas slammed them into the
Grimm's ankle, and before it could crash to the ground, Thomas slammed his weapon against
the ground, launching him near the Grimm's back. It neak and swung again, letting out a
massive creak against the room, and the Grimm's body went limp, and without another second,
Thomas left. The Grimm went to his table and pressed another button, and twin chain hooks
came down. He impaled the paws, and it started to lift the Grimm into the air.
"How would you handle this situation based on how I paralyzed this Grimm while getting
the same outcome?"
Then they see Pyrrha raise her hand, "Thank you for the demonstration, Professor
Sunheart. Your method was... certainly effective. But I might have approached it differently in the
same situation. Rather than using heavy weapons, I would rely more on my semblance, Polarity.
As the Grimm lunged toward me, I'd use my semblance to manipulate the metal components of
my weapons and its chains, pulling them into position to bind its limbs before they even reached
me. With its movements restricted, I could close the distance safely, using my spear to strike
precise, non-lethal points to weaken it further. By immobilizing it with the chains and pinning it
from a distance, I could maneuver it into a position where it couldn't harm anyone. This way, I
could maintain control over the situation without relying on more aggressive tactics."
"Well said, Miss Nikos, well said. Your approach is certainly more refined—cleaner,
even. Using your semblance, Polarity, to control the chains and manipulate the battlefield before
the Grimm can close the gap shows high precision. I'd expect nothing less from a top student
like you. However, there's a lesson to be learned here, especially for those who don't have a
semblance that can turn the tide in your favor. Not all Grimm are the same, and not every
encounter will allow you to use your semblance as a solution. You could face Grimm that are
faster, more erratic, or even those that can disrupt your abilities. In those situations, relying too
much on semblance could leave you vulnerable."
He gestures toward Beowulf, still suspended from the chains. "That's why my method,
while rough around the edges, relies on sheer force and physical control of the situation. It's not
as elegant, but it's designed to work even if I couldn't rely on anything but my weapons and my
instincts."
Thomas's expression softens slightly, though his voice remains firm. "Your method,
Pyrrha, would be ideal in many scenarios but never forget that adaptability is your greatest
weapon. Be prepared for the unexpected. Because you won't always have the advantage of
controlling the battlefield."
He steps back, resting his war hammers over his shoulders with a small smile. "That
said, I appreciate the insight, and it's something for the rest of you to think about—especially
when faced with situations where finesse might save more energy than brute force."
Then he turns to everyone else and asks," Do you have any more questions?" Nobody
says anything besides the sound of a few people writing down what he has just said:" Good,
now let's get started with this lesson."
As he puts up his weapons, he cuts the Beowulf open. He then starts talking and
showing the internal muscles and how the bones sported through themselves. "Now, take note
of the dense muscle fibers here," he said, gesturing to a particularly thick section. "This is why
Beowulves can strike with such force, but it also means they're a bit slower on the recovery. If
you can land a solid blow, you might buy yourself a precious second to plan your next move."
The students scribbled down notes, their faces a mixture of fascination and discomfort
as the inner workings of the Grimm were revealed. As Thomas paused to give them a moment
to catch up, the classroom had a series of gages heard across the room," If any of you need to
vomit, I suggest you do so outside my classroom. I am not in the mood to put the janitor job
harder than it already is." Thomas said to the room, and half of the class left before continuing,
delving into how the Grimm's limbs were reinforced to withstand damage and the best ways to
exploit their weaknesses.
After a while, he wiped his hands clean and stepped back from the dissected creature,
his voice growing more authoritative. "That wraps up the key points you'll need to know for the
exam. Remember, understanding the anatomy of your enemy can be just as valuable as
knowing how to wield your weapons."
He glanced around the room, making sure he had everyone's attention. "Any final
questions before we wrap things up?"
"Yes, umm… was that Grimm alive during this lesson?"
"Yes, it was. I only paralyzed it, though, smashing through its spine near the base of the
Grimm skull, and if I did kill it, this Grimm would be dissolved, making this lesson useless."
Thomas said to the student before turning to everyone else. " Are there any more questions?"
When no hands were raised, he gave a satisfied nod.
"Alright then, you're dismissed for today. Review your notes and come prepared for the
practical demonstration next week. And don't forget—Grimm may be predictable in some ways,
but never underestimate them."
The hours pass as Cualli, Aja, Akari, and Isaac leave. The sound of light rain tapping
against the window. Aja sprawls out on a beanbag chair, her eyes half-closed. Akari is perched
on the edge of a desk, flipping through notes from earlier, her expression a mix of curiosity and
mild unease. Cualli is scrolling through his scroll on his bed. Isaac sits on the floor, back against
the bed, craving another wood carving.
Aja breaks the silence, letting out a long sigh. "I don't know about you guys, but
Thomas's lesson today was... something else. That whole dissection scene? Yikes." She
shudders slightly, recalling the sight of the Grimm's exposed muscles.
Akari nods, still skimming her notes. "It was pretty intense, but why he did it makes
sense. Knowing how a Grimm works internally might be the edge we need in a real fight. Not
that it made the whole 'live dissection' thing any less creepy."
Cualli, still scrolling, says to them," Well, that's how he teaches. He believes in showing
the darkest part of the world so we can understand it when we see it after graduation."
Isacc chuckles, giving a wry smile," Well, that's one way to teach a group of students."
Before stopping and looking at Cualli, he says," Actually, you said he was your dad, right? Do
you have any stories of him?"
"I got a few, one time we were in Atlas, and we were there since he was tasked by ozpin
and as a sort of sign of peace, I guess, to have my dad teach a group of students, and
somehow, he convinced the school to give him a centinel Grimm ripped the shell like it was a
can food and showed everyone how it works and I think I saw about what? Half or a fourth of
the class? Rushed out to either leave or vomit."
Isaac stared at him with awe and curiosity, and Akari stopped studying and looked at
Cualli with a confused expression," And how do you know this? I mean, Atlas Academy isn't
open for those who aren't students? Did your dad use his title to let you in?"
Cualli put his scroll away." well, there are a few reasons, but one of the biggest ones is
that I was looking around to see which academy to study under. So Atlas made me sign a
contract telling them that I won't tell the public what I saw inside… and yes, I used my father's
title to get in for that day, so what."
Akari sighed and looked at Aja, who noticed her and sat up," Yeah, he's telling the truth. I
was with him at that."
"Wait? But why did you make that comment about Thomas?"
"Just because I know how he teaches doesn't mean I can handle gore, " Aja says to
Akari, her face slightly hardening before her scroll goes off. When she sees who it is, her face
softens. " Hey, Cualli, do you have the notes from Thomas's class?"
"Yeah, I still got them? What about them?"
"Well, Jaune and his team don't have the notes and need someone to copy it down."
"...why not, you? I mean, you know them, and I don't know who Jaune is?"
"... you remember the kid who vomited in that airship when we went to this academy?"
"Yeah, what about—wait, how did he become a leader? I got Ruby even though I said a
few words to her. But I didn't think Jaune?"
"Don't worry about it. Just go to them and see how it goes."
Cualli gets up and grabs his notes," Got it, come on, let's go."
"No, you are on your own here."
"Is it because that letter is earlier today?"
"That and because I don't feel like going."
Cualli hardened before shaking his head and looking at Akari. " Yeah, she is going to say
no. Aja is a no-go… why not Isaac? I don't know him, really, so why not?" Cualli thought before
turning to him. "Hey, do you want to come with me or don't want to?"
Isaac puts up his project before grabbing his things," sure, I got nothing else better to
do."
"Thanks, man; also, Aja, what is the room number?"
Aja lawed back onto her beanbag," Two floors up and the last door on the right."
With that, Cualli and Isaac leave the dorm and start going to team JNPR. Still, as they
walk through the building, Cualli looks up at Issac," Hey, so if it ok for me to ask, why do you
want to become a huntsman? Because no office, but you are built like a bodybuilder, and even
then, that isn't the best way to describe yourself?"
Isaac chuckles and looks down at Cualli." Besides the fact that Grimm is a thing, and
without a license, I got into a lot of legal trouble."
Cualli laughed," Sorry. I don't see anything that could cut your hands besides those
chains holding down those constriction vehicles." Isaac paused before looking away, and Cualli
burst into laughter.
"Ok, fine, mister leader, what is your reason for becoming a huntsman."
Cualli stopped and cleared his throat. " Well, I don't do anything grand just to be a local
huntsman. I might bust a few operations here and there, but that's it."
Isaac looked back at Cualli and said," Well, a goal is a goal. Let's hope we still talk after
graduation."
As Isaac said, they reached the dorms, and Cualli knocked on the door. It swung open,
and they saw Nora. Her eyes immediately glanced at Isaac and then Cualli." Oh, you two are
Akari teammates!" Before turning behind her, Nora said," Hey, jaune Cualli is here for the notes I
told you about!"
Then, they see Jaune flipping through his notes before sighing and closing them. As he
walks to the door, Nora chuckles before leaving," hey guys. Hence, you guys have the notes?"
jaune said to Cualli before looking at Isacc, his eyes slowly looking up at him as Isaac slightly
moved his head down to meet Jaune eyes," w-wow your big. I mean, I know I will see Grimm,
that might be double your size, but still, I never thought I would meet someone who is–"
Before he could finish, Isaac chuckled and bent his knee to meet his level," Dude, I get it.
Not everyone will act calm when they see an eight-foot faunus."
Jaune gulps before taking a deep breath," Y-yeah, sorry about that, but either of you has
notes?" Cualli then pulled out his notes and handed them to Jaune. His jaw dropped as he saw
Cualli's stitches of the Grimm anatomy, with one page that looked almost photorealistic and
another with a messy drawing but with arrows pointing and summarized notes in each arrow
before looking at Cualli," Wow, this is amazing."
Cualli chuckled. "Thanks, man, " he said before sighing. And since I am here, maybe we
could get to know each other? Sorry to be disrespectful, but I only know you on the airship."
Jaune shoulder tightens," O-oh, sorry, that is the first time you've seen me."
"It's fine."
Neither one says anything as Juane, still holding Cualli, notes," Why not you come
inside?"
"Sure, I don't mind," Cualli says as he turns to Isaac, who nods.
Jaune steps aside, and Cualli steps through fine, but Isaac tilts his head to fit through the
door. As he stands up straight, his horns starch against the sealing, Cualli quickly taps on
Isaac's side and sits on the floor before looking at everyone," Sorry, everyone."
As Cualli looked around until seeing Phyrra," Oh Pyrrha, I didn't think I would see you
here?"
Nora's eyes widened," wait, you two know each other?" she asked, glancing between
Cualli and Pyrrha before the two looked at each other, giving an unsure look.
"You want to tell her, or should I?"
"I would do it, Cualli," Pyrrha told Cualli before turning to Nora," We do not know each
other personally, but we crossed paths at a tournament in Argus. Cualli was one of the few
competitors from outside the region. One thing led to another, and we ended up paired as a
team and eventually won the tournament."
Isaac then turns to Cualli," You don't think that would been a good icebreaker back in the
dorm?"
Cualli then sat on a nearby chair." I mean, we—I guess everyone knows each other by a
few hours, so it doesn't make sense for me to bust in a room and say something like, I worked
with a renowned upcoming huntress." Cualli told Isaac before turning to Phyrra, " And I am still
mad that you never sent me that cereal box!"
"It was filled with sugar and had a picture of my face; it wouldn't give you anything else,"
Pyrrha said to Cualli as Jaune slowly adjusted his chest plate to cover the bunny logo on his
hoodie.
"... I could have kept it as a collection on my shelf after I gave the food to some kid and
see what happened for shits and giggles." Cualli chuckled before seeing Jaune copying down
Cualli's notes, but Nora walked towards Isacc before he could say anything.
"Hey, big guy, can I ask you something?"
"Sure, what is–"
"Can you grab my head with one hand!" Nora said elastically, grinning ear to ear.
Isaac's eyes widen before slowly removing his gauntlet and touching Nora's head. With a
squeeze, he lifts her, and Nora chucks like a man.
… she is a character… wait, so why is Akari comfortable around her? Maybe talking to
Ren can help me see why she is comfortable with them. Besides the fact that they grew up
together. Cualli thought before going to Ren, who was watching everything, "So I take it that you
and Nora are like childhood friends of Akari?"
"You can say that."
"Cool, cool," Cualli said as they watched Isaac placing down Nora," so what is
atardecer? Is it like a clan, tribe, or reserve?"
"It's more of a heaven for those left behind in mistral," Ren said to Cualli.
Wait really? I am. I know nothing of everyone here, so Ren's town could have been
attacked by Grimm, but still, the quality of his and Nora's weapons don't yell desperation, so
they have to pay and get the materials to build them, or someone in atardecer made it for them?
Cualli thought while eying Ren's weapon," So who made your wea—" Before he could finish,
jaune gave Isaac the notes.
"Thanks for the notes," Jaune said to Isaac and Cualli.
"Looks like he got everything from us. Well, see you guys later," Cualli told everyone
before he and Isaac left the room.
As they walk through the hallway, Cualli looks at Isaac," So what do you think of them?"
"Well, they are… interesting? To say the least." Isaac said to Cualli in a formal tone.
"You could say that that ren guy, the one who has those daggers on his hips wearing
greenish clothes, said that he, Nora, and Akari are in the same group called atardecer who are
a group that sounds like they go back to save those left behind?"
"Well, whoever is leading that group sounds like they are brave since Mistral isn't the
best place to form groups like that unless they have ex-huntsman or people who are skilled like
militia members or something like that?" Isacc said before surging." Still, either way, at least we
know that Akari, Nora, and Ren are from Mistral."
