Chapter 3 Repairing Wounds Of Old To Path New Paths
[Location: Yaoyorozu's Manor]
[Time: ]
Staff members were still running around, their schedules throw out of the window, now ordered to fix up the place and to tend to those who were injured.
In the dining hall, Momo and her parents, Tanso Yaoyorozu and Kotto Yaoyorozu, were quietly eating their breakfast, the air thick and tense.
Momo knew she screwed up, seeing the nervous looks on the staff in the room, giving her a look if pitty and fear, like they were afraid of her. She could understand why, she just shook the entire Manor and in front of one of her personal maids, watched Momo destroying oher Russian Matryoshka Doll.
Looking at her father for some comfort, but instead of meeting his eyes that she was hoped was filled with concern and worry, they were instead filled with a cold rage, a rage she was very familiar with, which made her look away and focus more on her food.
She was shaking, the potential rage her father could give her already nearly sending her into a panic attack. Kotto saw her daughter nearly lanickinh; recognising why she was nervous, and leaned towards her husband, whispering into his ear something Momo nor any of the staff in the room could hear.
"Fine, but she still needs to be punished for causing millions in damages." Tanso quietly whispered to his wife, who whispered back that she understands, but reminds him that their daughter is still 2 and she didn't mean to cause so much destruction.
"I know, but my age shouldn't uphold her of any punishment. We need to teach her this behaviour is not tolerated, and learn to be more lady like. Plus, I'm a little upset our daughter didn't inherit either of our quirks." Tanso seethe, then calm down as he felt his wife's touch on his chin.
"Oh hush, she is our daughter, not our marrige baby. Children are born with different quirks to their parents all the time. Momo just so happens to be one of them." Kotto said, trying to calm her husband before they scold Momo later.
Tanso let out a sigh, accepting his wife words, but he won't let Momo off easy. He will still teach her that actions can and will have consequences, and she needs to take responsibility for those consequences.
"You can all be dismissed. I would like to speak with my family in private." Tanso asked his staff, wiping his hands with the handkerchief that was served with his utensils.
After the Matriarch spoke, all the staff members in the dining hall left the room without another word, the last one bowing for the family, and closing the door, leaving all three Yaoyorozus alone.
"Alright dear, now that we are alone, we are going to discuss the right punishment for you, even if what you did was an accident. Do you understand?" Kotto told her daughter, a smile on her face lacking, being replaced with a stern, but still warm stare.
"Yes Mummy." Momo responded, feeling horrible for all the problems she had caused.
"Good, now, before we decide what your punishment will be, we want to know more about the sudden appearance of your quirk." Kotto asked, wondering if her daughter even comprehends the power she wields
"Your mother is right Momo, if this is your quirk manifesting, then it would be very special, as only a hand few people in the world were able to manifest their quicks at such a young age that wasn't a mutant or transformation quirk. But…" Tanso explained, making Momo a little happy she could fit in with those who had their quirks awakened so young, but her face frowned when her father cut himself off.
"From the accounts of Miss Hana, she told us she watched you chant a string of words and that's when everything began to shake, a strong wind blew across the Manor, and she saw you make one of your Matryoshka Dolls dissappear. Would you remind me what word youbused to make it dissapeare, I am having trouble remembering." Tanso explained Miss Hana's perspective to him and Kotto, but struggled to remember the very important word.
"Hakai, father. The word I used was Hakai." Momo spoke up, filling in her father's memory gap.
"Hakai, right. But why use such a word?" Her father asked and Momo twitched in her seat, trying to figure out a way to wiggle her way out of this conversation.
"I…I don't…" Momo stuttered, her breath rapid, her heart beat increasing its pace.
She felt trapped in this situation, like the walls of the room were closing in on her, while her parents watched on, like they didn't care she would be crushed. She didn't know if she should tell her parents, or keep her powers a secret.
Can she tell them? Would they believe her? If they believe she was just lying to them, then they'll punish her, lock her away in a tall tower guarded a fire breathing dragon, never to see the light of day again. She'll never see any of her friends, any of her classmates. She won't even get to see Izuku!
"Momo, calm down! It's okay, stop panicking." Her mother's words brought her back, before she spiraled too far.
Looking up, she saw her mother was now next to her, her soft hands that was resting on her fathe, now wason her shoulders, Kotto rubbing them gently to soothe her.
Momo saw how worried her mother was, her smile becoming strained, while her father was still on the other side of the table, his stern eyes now more softer and loose.
"Sorry mummy, I… I don't want to upset you." Momo spoke, tears beginning to from the stress her body was experiencing.
"We won't be upset with you darling. We're you parents, and right now, we want to know more about your quirk so we can help you. Why don't you show us how it works and we can go from there?" Kotto asked, holding both of Momo's tiny toddler hands in her one big adult hand.
Momo slowly nodded, which Kotto was happy with, then asking her husband to pass her a glass, which the man wordlessly followed the orders, tossing a small glass cup to her, which Kotto easily caught.
"Miss Hana said you could turn things into small balls of light, can you do that with this honey?" Kotto asked her daughter, who nodded, saying she needs some space.
Her mother understood her daughter's word, backing away so Momo can use her quirk without indangerijg either of them..
Looking at the glass, Momo knew she could destroy it the same way as her Matryoshka doll, but she might destroy this glass another way, through touch. Pulling it closer to her; having to stand on her chair to fully reach it, she held it tightly in her sticky toddler hands, carefully examining the glass like she was trying to find all the imperfection inside it.
Tanso and Kotto watched carefully, seeing the little things their daughter was doing, but they decided to keep watching and wait for their daughter to use her quirk, which they will have to have a talk about, because neither of them nor anyone from their family have a quirk like her's at all.
Momo decided to stop stalling and loosened her grip on the glass a little and after a second of composing herself, she decided to perform her destructive power for a second time that morning.
"Hakai." And with those words spoken, the glass cup shined with a purple light, seemingly making the entire room darken as the light from the glass shined brilliantly, so much it was like it was trying to take over the other light sources.
Tanso and Kotto watch with awe the seemingly beautiful spectacle that was the glass being torn apart into dozens if not hundreds of small purple particles, tearing themselves off the glass, then disappearing into nothingness. And as soon as the process began, it ended, leaving an empty space of air that was previously occupied by an expensive glass ornament from one of Tanso's luxurious collections, a thought he will soon remember, and regret ever taking it out.
"Oh my, that was so beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous! AAHHH" Kotto screamed in delight, never expecting her daughter's quirk would be so beautiful, after how much destruction it caused.
"I would agree, you performance was so elegant, you were like a star shining among fireflies!" Tanso complimented his daughter, smiling for the first time that morning, but his smile didn't last long
He asked his daughter why everything shook like an earthquake hit them when she used her powers before, but no such thing happened this time.
"Uh, maybe because I used my quirk for the first time?" Momo guessed, technically telling the truth, because what she did before was just so she could actually unlock her powers to then use them.
Tanso bore his eyes into his daughter, trying to see if his daughter was trying to lie, but even though she looked nervous, he accepted his daughter's answer, but quickly told her that if she caused any more damages again, he'll have to teach her why quirk control is very important.
Momo told her father she will try and control her quirk, promising him she will not disappoint and will show her fatger she can control her powers.
"I'm happy to hear that. Which gives me the idea that we might need to put you into various classes to help you both control and improve your quirk. How does that sound?" Tanso asked his daughter, which Momo was happy about, asking her father if she could implement some martial art classes too, which her father asked why martial arts interested her.
"Well, from what I read, martial arts can help me not just physically, but also mentally, which might help me control my quirk. Plus, I think it might help me become a hero more easily." Momo said, feeling sheepish about revealing her dream to her parents.
"Oh my god! Our daughter wants to be a hero honey! Isn't that amazing!" Kotto gleefully hopped in place, her hands cupped together.
Tanso said it was, saying it is a very respectable job, and it's also a hard one, which is something he wants his daughter to experience, because he wants his family to be filled with hard workers, not slackers.
And from that day onwards, for the next couple of years, Momo was put through a childhood much harder than her life before. Her father in this timeline seemed to be much harder than the one from her past life, as he pushed all her limits, physical, mental, and sometimes emotion, much further and harder than before. She had tutors before, but this time, they were different tutors, much harsher tutors and they pushed her more than last time, and her mental strain couldn't heal during her free time, as she also had her martial art classes with a teacher who was proficient in various styles, allowing Momo to learn each style and later pick which style she more comfortable woth, but this put even more pressure onto her.
This was all too much for Momo. She had a very sheltered life before, but at least then she had some connections to the outside world, with other children of high status like her, but this time, her father believed until she could fully control her quirk and to also trust her to not flaunt it, he kept her shut away in the manor, with the only human interactions she was allowed to have was her parents, the staff of the Manor and her tutors. Momo felt all this pressure push down on her, the more she pushed, the harder and more exhausting it became to push further.
Thankfully, her mother was the woman who helped her to keep going, and more importantly, the thought of finally meeting Izuku again after years of waiting, but they may never meet until they enter UA again, or until they're adults. For now, Momo will continue with this life, proving to her father she is a daughter to trust and be proud of, and prove to herself she is worthy of being a hero of UA and deserving of the powers she was gifted to by the angel.
[Location: Musutafu Forest Park]
[Time: Mid-day]
On the other side of the coin, Izuku was living a life very similar to his life before. Simple, uneventful excluding the occasional villain attack, and spending his days with his mum, dad and Kacchan. At least with this second chance, he was able to learn who his dad was, how much his parents love each other and what traits he got from his father; his muttering, his intellect and his shyness, which he seemed to get from both parents.
What was unfortunate for the green hair boy, was his inability to unlock his creation powers, as when he got the time to search for the cantrip to actually unlock it, he couldn't, like it was locked away, similar to his powers. This, unfortunately, made the next couple of years basically the exact same as in his previous life.
But this wasn't going to stop Izuku from doing things differently, and one of those involves his best friend, Kacchan, real name Bakugou Katsuki.
He certainly didn't want to experience the same life as before, and Izuku knew what made Kacchan act the way he did, there were no one around to keep his ego in check; besides his mother, making him more brash, aggressive and vile than any other bully he had, so for the first thing he wants to do, he will have to act as the rock to keep Kacchan's ego in check, making sure Kacchan becomes a person more likeable and kinder.
It was a good thing Izuku had this idea, because Kacchan had unlocked his quirk a few weeks after his 4th birthday, making the boy one of the youngest quirked kids in their class.
And as soon as the boy got his quirk, the similar personality traits as the Kacchan in his past life began to appear. He was becoming more confident, loud, and more aggressive as time went by. For now, Izuku kept his interactions with Kacchan subtle, telling him to be nice and to stop picking on the other kids. Reminding the boy that heroes should protect others, not hurt people just because he sees them as weaker. He doesn't see All-Might do that, does he? And that usually stops the boy for a while, until they repeat the next week over again.
But his efforts were producing results, as Kacchan may be brash and loud, something the boy may not be able to even control, he was a lot less reckless and eager to argue with others or start fights. But sometimes these traits came back, making Izuku try to push away. It was exhausting for the boy, like breaking through a brick wall with a playing spoon, slow, but possible.
Then the day where their relationship began to tear apart, the walk they had through the forest.
"One, two, three!" *Boom* "One, two, three!" *Boom* Bakugou, followed by three other kids, including our resident green hair marshmellow, a skinny black hair boy and a round chubby boy.
Bakugou was marching the other boys behind him, bug net in his left, his right hand held up in front of him, creating a small crackle after every step he took.
Izuku watched the trees go by, knowing that once they reach the creek, he will have to choose his actions carefully, because this could hurt or strengthen their relationship.
"Hey, Deku, you okay?" The skinny boy said behind him, poking the greenette with his elongated finger; an aspect of the boy's quirk.
"Oh, y…yeah, just, thinking." Izuku said, nervous for the next couple of minutes.
"Thinking 'bout what? You seemed very nervous for some reason." The boy said again, to which Izuku said it was nothing important, just him thinking about quirks again.
The long finger boy shook his head in disbelief, saying he shouldn't be surprised, Deku was someone who thrived on quirks, and he wondered how he'll act once he gets his own, whenever that day is.
"Quiet extras, I can't hear myself think with you guys whispering all your nonsense!" Bakugou yelled from the front, having the two boys apologise.
That was when they arrived at the log that stretched over the small creek; which Izuku was thankful then and now the creek was nothing more than a tiny stream.
"K…Kacchan! Careful, that log could be slippery." Izuku at least wanted to warn his best friend, who told him he was always careful, but in that moment, Bakugou slipped and fell into the creek, scaring all the boys, except for Izuku.
"Katsuki! Are you okay?!" The chubby one asked, but got no response, but he did notice Izuku was no longer with them and instead was running down the side of the dried up creek.
"Hey Kacchan, you okay? You aren't hurt, right?" Izuku asked, stretching out his 4 year old toddler hand, the situation basically a carbon copy from the same moment in his previous life.
*SLAP* And just like his previous life, Kacchan slapped his hand away, picking himself up and walking past Izuku without saying another word.
"Kacchan! Why do you have to be so mean? I was only trying to help." Izuku pouted, crossing his little baby fat arms.
"Shut it Deku! I didn't need your help, alright?! A hero doesn't need saving, because a hero never needs help! If they did, they shouldn't call themselves a hero." Bakugou yelled, walking away from the greenette.
"No it doesn't! Heroes are people too, and people always needs help. If heroes are the one to save the people, who are the people who saves heroes?" Izuku asked his friend, stopping the boy from walking any further.
"A hero doesn't need help. They fight villains and save the day! All-Might is the best hero, and you don't see him getting any help from someone!" Kacchan bit back, beginning a shouting match with Izuku.
"But you're wrong! All-Might doesn't just fight villains, he saves people! He's the number one hero, because he saves people, not because he fights villains!" Izuku argued, but his words didn't reach Kacchan.
"Shut it Deku! You don't know shit! All-Might is the best hero because he is the strongest! That's why!" Bakugou roared, inching closer to Izuku, who stood his ground.
"But what about the other heroes who are incredibly strong?! They could give All-Might a good fight, yet most of them don't even reach the top 50, let alone the number one spot like All-Might! He is the best hero because he is what a hero should be! Selfless, kind and compassionate! That is what makes a hero, someone who saves others no matter the cause or reason. That is who he is, and that is who I want to be!" Izuku yelled, too inching closer to Bakugou, who snarled at his approach.
"I don't care what you want! All I said was that I don't need help! Especially from a quirkless Deku like you!" Bakugou yelled, an air of silence occupying the space between the boys.
"Should we go down there and stop them?" The chubby boy asked.
"God no. Do you want to get between those two?" The other boy said, while the chubby one shook his head, leaving the two of them to watch the two childhood friends verbally fight from a safe distance.
With Izuku, he believed he made their future worse. He might get bullied, but at least he will have the gull to actually defend himself this time. All his villain fights made his life of being bullied feel like childplay compared to the horrible monster he faced.
But this made a light bulb pop in Izuku's head. Kacchan doesn't take in words that well, and instead remembers through actions. He remembered during the sports festival, during Kacchans and Ochako's fight, after Kacchan blew up the rocks Ochako was planning to drop on him, he called her by name.
This means he needs to act the same way if he wants to change his friend's mind, and this reminds him of their fight after Kamino ward, a fight that was certainly the saddest he has ever experienced. So, with no other way to help his friend, while also needing an outlet to release some of his own anger, he approached Kacchan, clenching his tiny fists.
"Katsuki!" Izuku yelled, intentionally using the boy's first name.
"The hell! What did you just call me…" *BAM* *THUD*
Before Bakugou could finish his sentence and comprehend what Deku just called him, he briefly saw Deku hurl his fist at him, and before he could process what had happened, he felt Deku's fist clash with his cheek, knocking him back and onto the ground.
"GASP"
"He's dead." "Yep, so dead." The boys commented, praying for Deku's soul.
Bakugou was too stunned to fight back, shocked Deku actually attacked him, and his worthless punch actually hurt him.
"If you think a good hero is how strong they are, then prove it! Prove to me you are a better hero than I am!" Izuku challenged Kacchan, holding his fists up and keeping his feet firm on the ground.
Just like the time in his previous life where he tried to defend a boy from Kacchan, his stance was weak and and shaky, but with his training with All-Might, Aisawa, Gran Torino, Sir Nighteye and Endeavour, he learned to hold a stance properly, and to not shake in the face of fear, which he was experiencing a lot of, facing his childhood friend like this.
"Deku. The hell are you doing? You know I am stronger. I have a quirk, and you don't. What makes you think you can stand against me…" Bakugou was cut off again, blindsided by Izuku's second sucker punch.
"I'm not backing down, Katsuki! Not again. A hero will always stand against anything thrown at them! So show me if you are a better hero than I am!" Izuku yelled, his voice carrying across the forest like a tsunami.
His words made the boys watching from afar cry in joy, inspired by Deku's words at how defiant Izuku was.
"Fine, have it your way. If it's a fight you want, then it is a fight you'll get." Bakugou snarled, his signature creepy grin plastering itself onto his face.
The two boys stared at each other, waiting for the other to attack first, and the brief silent didn't last long, as Bakugou's patience was just as long as the silence last, so he was the first one to attack, slipping past Izuku's defences and landing a hard explosive slap onto the boy's cheek, expecting this one attack to finish the fight.
But Izuku was more resilient than this, as he used the momentum of Bakugou's attack to spin himself and kick Bakugou in his side, knocking him away.
Bakugou rolled across the grass, stopping and moving away from another surprise attack from Izuku, then he launched himself forwards, ready to hit Deku again with another explosive slap, but Izuku ducked and punch Bakugou in the stomach, but Bakugou took the hit and used this opportunity to slap both his hands onto Izuku's back and release two mini explosions, singing the boys shirt and burning his skin a little.
This searing pain stunned Izuku, allowing Bakugou to get under Izuku and push him down to the ground, placing his foot into Izuku's chest.
"Told you, you were weak! You're nothing without a quirk! Give up, and I'll decide to hurt you too much after this!" Bakugou declared his victory over Izuku.
Izuku didn't see the end to this fight just yet, using this oppotunity of Bakugou's self distraction to land a cross chop on the explosive boy's knee, making Bakugou pull away in pain, allowing Izuku to recover and throw himself back at Bakugou. Landing two punches on the boy's head, then trying to recreate his shoot style, landing a hard upper kick on Bakugou's chin, sending him in the air briefly and back onto the ground once more.
The other boys who were watching couldn't believe what they were seeing. Deku of all people, fighting Bakugou and actually winning, it was unfaminable. Deku didn't have a quirk, and Bakugou's was cool and strong, so how was Deku fighting Bakugou evenly? They both silently thought that Deku couldn't be a normal 4 years old, he couldn't, not with how he was fighting.
Izuku and Bakugou fought for what felt like hours to them, which was only minutes. Given the fact they were only 4 years old, their fight didn't really last long and to a bunch of adults, this was nothing more than a squabble between two goblings. But for the two, it was the most excitment they had in their whole lives.
"Give up Deku, you are nothing compared to me! You are better at grovelling beneath my feet!" Bakugou yelled, trying to hit Izuku with a few more explosive slaps, missing a few and only hitting Izuku twice.
"Can't do that Katsuki. Someone needs to teach you what a hero is!" Izuku spat back, ducking under Kacchan's arms and nailing his face with an uppercut.
Bakugou stumbled back, trying to keep himself on his feet, when Izuku once again closed the distance and try for another attack, Bakugou slid just out of reach and slapped an explosion onto Izuku's face hard, causing the green hair boy to almost fall over, but he luckily caught himself.
Izuku knew neither of them could last long, as their bodies weren't made for fighting, so Izuku decided it was best to end it quickly, or Kacchan's explosions will soon overwhelm him.
Spinning around, Izuku grabbed Bakugou's shirt and pulled him closer, slamming their faces together, which Izuku braced to take, but Bakugou didn't, holding his face afterwards, feeling a nosebleed come in.
"You dumbass! You'll pay for that!" Bakugou barked like a rabid dog, his palms sparking more than before, decided to fully end this fight now.
Izuku hoped to used this as a distraction, but didn't expect Kacchan to recover so quickly, and when the boy rushed him, he knew if he didn't attack now, his body will give out, so with no other choice, he rushed and met Bakugou head on.
"DIE!!!" Bakugou roared, stretching his hand out to collide with Izuku's face for one last time.
("Detroit, SMASH!!!") Izuku screamed in his head, putting all the force his tiny toddler body can muster, and throw it all into one last punch.
The boys watched, waiting with baited breath, who would win, actually rooting for both Deku and Bakugou, but who for, they didn't know. For the two children fighting, time slowed, as if their attacks closing in on their opponents made time slow the closer they got, and as time felt still, everyone watched with bated breath to see who would fall.
And time resumed.
*BOOM* *POW*
Izuku and Bakugou both took and landed their attacks together, Izuku just milliseconds before, but it wasn't enough to stop Kacchan from hitting him with his explosive slap, so when Kacchan's body was pushed away from his punch, so was Izuku's after Bakugou's slap.
Both boys hit the ground at the same time, too exhausted to pick themselves up and declare themselves the winner of their fight.
"Stupid… hah, Deku. Where did… hah, you learn… hah, to fight like that?" Kacchan asked, laying flat on the ground on his back.
"Don't know… hah, what you're… hah, talking about." Izuku answered, just as exhausted as Kacchan, and laying down on the ground on his stomach.
"Whatever… hah, but don't go bousting you won… hah, because I just beat your ass." Bakugou said, getting the wind into his lungs again.
"Doesn't mean… hah, you won either… hah, Kacchan. I beat you to a pulp too." Izuku said, smiling a little.
"Fuck off. You won shit!" Bakugou spat, still unable to move his body after the adrenaline wore off.
After they both calmed down, feeling their heart rates slow down, Izuku asked Bakugou if he believed a hero best trait is fighting, was he qualified to be one even without a quirk? Bakugou laughed, saying Deku just got lucky, and next time, he'll beat him into the dirt.
"I hope you will. I won't accept any fight from someone who doesn't give it their all." Izuku said, being the first to sit up, shortly followed by Kacchan.
"Even if your are a quirkless loser, I won't hold back, not one bit." Bakugou said, more calmer than before.
"I happy to hear that." Izuku said, still having his warm smile.
After the two boys dusted themselves off, all four of them decided to head back to their parents, and for the two boys that tag along with Izuku and Bakugou, their parents were happy to see them safe; the woods are still dangerous for a bunch of 4 years old.
The Midoriyas and Bakugous however, weren't as pleased. Bakugou quickly got both his parents pulling his ears, telling him that under any circumstances, should he ever fight one his friends, especially using his quirk on them, Mitsuki forcing Katsuki to look and watch Inko pull Izuku's shirt off to show the various burn marks he left after their fight.
Inko and Hisashi were more worried for Izuku than mad. Inko being the usual worried mother, while Hisashi was a little proud his son matched Katsuki in strength, even when he was at a disadvantage. But that didn't stop him from being lectured by the both of them when they learned Izuku was the one to start the fight.
Even though his parents advise Izuku to never start a fight like this with Katsuki again, Izuku knew that he was doing Kacchan a huge favour, one that his friend will appreciate years later.
He just hopes he will be able to unlock his creation powers soon, before Kacchan and the other children bully him more.
