Family Time And A Baby Shower

A few hours later, Jade and Andrew had finished their homework.

So now it was dinner time, and Tina had made mì quảng that night.

"Well," Tina said. "the baby shower's almost here, Stacie, are you excited to be a big sister for the second time?"

"A little nervous, actually," Anastasia said. "I don't know if I'll be any good at it."

"You'll do fine." Alex said, before slurping some more noodles.

"Sure you will." AJ said as the others nodded in unison.

"Yeah," Jade said. "you're worrying over nothing."

"Thanks, everyone." Anastasia smiled.

"Have you got everything lined up for the baby shower, my dear?" Alex smiled.

"All I have left to do is to mail out the gift list so people know what to get Gaby." Tina said.

"Oh that reminds me," Anastasia said. "on the drive over here, Mom said to make sure to remind you, no more baby blankets, please! she already has fifteen of them, three of which are from when Alexander James, Bradford, and I were born."

Tina chuckled, "Okay I won't put it on the gift list this time." she said.

The Saturday following Gaby and Rob's return from France, it was the day of Gaby's baby shower.

Since Doctor Casey Austin had to work at the hospital, the rest of the former Ghostwriter team met at Gaby and Rob's house for the shower.

The original Ghostwriter team all sat or stood around Gaby's chair as the baby shower was underway.

"I miss it you know," Lenni said. "running around together and solving mysteries."

"Yeah," Tina smiled. "those were great times."

"The whole bunch of us might never have become friends otherwise." Alex said.

"I sure am glad ghostwriter chose us and we did, though." Jamal said, lowering his voice.

Even after all these years they still guarded the secret of Ghostwriter's existence.

The others smiled and nodded.

"There sure haven't been many cases lately." Rob observed.

"Yeah," Hector agreed. "I noticed that too."

"I think that might be about to change though." Alex smiled.

"Oh, why is that?" Lenni asked.

"I was in my hallway the other day, and I heard AJ talking to someone about letters moving on the chalkboard at school," Alex said, his smile growing bigger. "I think Ghostwriter is choosing a new team and he's choosing it from among our kids!"

"Good, I'm glad," Jamal said. "there should always be a team!"

"Is everything set for the 'big move'?" Alex asked with a smile.

Gaby nodded.

"Yep," Gaby said. "the apartment should be ready by the time the baby is born."

"Yeah," Rob said. "we had to have some remodeling done to accommodate the family as comfortably as possible."

"I thought the place already had five bedrooms." Lenni said.

"Yeah," Gaby said. "but it only had two bathrooms, the main one in the hallway and the one in the master bedroom, Rob and I decided that wasn't enough, and since we had the money to do it, we're adding two more, now, not only will the kids have their own rooms, they'll have their own bathrooms too."

"I hope you found an honest contractor." Hector said.

"Well, the first two tried to rip us off," Gaby said. "but they got caught and fired!"

"Yeah," Rob said. "the third one was the charm."

"I'm glad for you." Lenni said.

Lenny look around as the group fell into a companionable silence, she felt a wistful smile come to her face as she looked and nearly the entire team together for the first time in ages.

The silence was broken by Hector handing a shower gift off to Gaby.

"This is the final gift," Hector said to Gaby. "it's from Casey and me."

Gaby opened the neatly wrapped package.

"Awww! A duck-shaped night light! Cute!" Gaby exclaimed.

"This will be perfect for the nursery." Rob said.

Hector just smiled broadly.
