Those Obnoxious Ghosts

Chapter 21: Meeting Ran

Ten was in the UFO right now. He was at the controls as he tried to locate his missing cousin.

After about an hour, he managed to pick up his cousin's energy with the ship's scanners. And was surprised to find out where she's located now.

"Saturn? How did Danny even do that?..."Ten asked, surprised that Earth technology was even capable of doing that.

After he snapped out of his shock, he sighed as he began to set coordinates on the ship. He needed to go find Lum before something else happened, though he also wasn't looking forward to it since he knew she'll be angry.

"Lum's not gonna be in a good mood. I told her that she shouldn't have listened to that weird vampire guy..."Ten muttered as he recalled how that encounter went.

After Lum received that mystery package and after Ten snuck out to warn Danny, he returned to the ship to discover an unwanted guest there who was so ugly and menacing looking that he made actual vampires seem less creepy in comparison.

And unfortunately, his cousin apparently became friends with him.

FLASHBACK

Earlier

Ten had just returned to the spaceship. He snuck back inside, hoping he wouldn't get caught.

"I sure hope that Lum didn't notice..."Ten thought to himself, worried.

Earlier, he pretended to take a nap before he snuck out since he didn't want Lum to figure out what he did. He knew that if she found out that he warned Danny about what she was planning, it would not end well for him.

Anyway, Ten was now inside his ship. Having snuck inside and being as quiet as a mouse as he did so. He left the area that was his bedroom and went to the main room in the ship. However, as he slowly floated through the air, he couldn't help but hear a conversation happening in another room.

"Are you serious?..."Lum asked, sounding surprised about something.

"Indeed, young lady. I am sure that Daniel will stop acting stubborn in time, just be patient. He has always been a very reckless young man, but I am sure that he will see reason soon. Just remain patient with him..."Another voice was heard, one that sounded like a man.

"Huh? Who's that?..."Ten thought as he entered the room.

Once there, he saw that his cousin was in the middle of a conversation with what looked to be a strange vampire with blue-green skin and an odd/ugly hairdo.

Ten frowned.

"Who's that weirdo?..."He thought, already suspicious of him.

Lum just smiled brightly at this weirdo, as they kept talking like they were old friends or something.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Vlad. You have no idea how much this means to us..."The alien girl said cheerfully.

Vlad sent her a smile, showing off his fangs.

"Anytime, Miss Lum. Just let me know in case you need any more help or if Daniel is acting too stubborn for his own good..."The evil ghost said, ready to leave.

However, that's when Lum finally noticed Ten. The alien girl smiled widely when she saw her little cousin.

"Oh Ten. You woke up from your nap..."Lum said, but her cousin kept frowning.

"Who's this guy?..."Ten demanded, already not liking this guy.

"Oh, forgive my manners, child. My name is Plasmius. Vlad Plasmius..."Vlad introduced himself, extending his hand for a handshake.

Ten refused.

"Vlad? Wait, you're the guy who sent Lum that weird stuff, ain't ya?..."The alien child said, rudely pointing at the half ghost.

Vlad retracted the handshake, all while Lum frowned in disapproval.

"Ten, don't be rude. Mr. Vlad is our guest here..."Lum scolded.

"Oh, it's alright, Miss Lum. Children can be such a handful after all. And they can get a bit cranky once they're awoken from their nap time..."Vlad said in a condescending way.

Ten glared at that, hating this guy even more now.

"He's been here less than five minutes, and I already hate this weirdo..."The little alien child thought, glaring at Vlad.

"Hmm...I don't particularly like the way that small child is glaring at me. He looks like he could start a tantrum at the slightest provocation, but I should probably at least pretend to be nice here..."Vlad thought as he kept up his act.

Vlad chose to hide his feelings of anger by acting as if he didn't mind the small child and even began to chat with him.

"My, what a tiny little guy. No need to be so cranky, child..."Vlad said, still being condescending and getting on Ten's nerves.

"I'll show you a tiny and little cranky child, you fanged face oldie!..."Ten yelled as he shot fire at him.

Vlad managed to avoid being directly hit, but his cape was not-so-lucky.

"My cape?! How dare you, you little brat!..."The evil halfa yelled as he tried to put it out.

"There's more where that came from, weirdo!..."Ten yelled, but Lum stopped him.

"Ten, stop that! That was uncalled for!..."Lum scolded.

"But he-..."Ten tried, but Lum sent him a stern look.

"He's my new friend and he's helping me get Darling to see reason..."His cousin explained.

"But-..."Ten tried but his cousin refused to listen to him.

"Ten, enough. You'll sing a new tune once my Darling realizes his love for me..." Lum said.

Her cousin tried to protest but Lum got in front of Ten and began lecturing him on how good little boys need to treat guests with some a bit kindness before acting too nonchalantly around them. While she did that, Ten just sent small glares at the older half ghost man.

One that Vlad noticed and sent back.

"Lousy little brat..."The evil halfa thought in annoyance as he floated away.

Vlad soon left, but Ten continued to glare in his direction.

"I don't trust that guy, Lum. I am getting a bad feeling about him..."He said, wishing he hadn't missed earlier.

"Ten, stop that. You shouldn't just be quick to judge people just from they appearances. What would your mother think if she saw you acting like this..."Lum said, and her cousin flinched when she mentioned his mother.

Lum, however, just continued.

"Look, I know that Danny's ghost files says that he and Vlad aren't on good terms but-..."She was cut off by her cousin.

"If Danny doesn't like him, then there must be something wrong with that Vlad guy. It's written all over his ugly face, you shouldn't even be talking to someone like him!..."Ten tried to reason but his cousin continued to remain stubborn and refused to listen to him.

"Ten, you're just a child but you shouldn't judge others by how they look. Unless they're beautiful, like me. I also know with absolute certainty that your mother taught you better than that..."Lum said, dismissing her cousin.

Ten frowned, upset that his cousin still refused to listen to him.

"Why the heck is she so stubborn?..."He thought, frustrated but also worried about her as well as Danny.

"I sure hope that Danny will be okay..."The little alien child thought, worried for his friend.

Especially if a jerk like that Vlad guy is trying to cause trouble.

End Of Flashback

Present Time

That was how it happened.

Lum had left to go to Earth a few hours ago to go "visit" Danny and Ten witnessed how that all turned out with his own eyes.

He was also angry at that Vlad guy for encouraging Lum and making the situation worse than it already was. Ten knew that guy was up to something bad and he refused to trust him. He was already making plans of retaliation for the next time they cross paths with each other.

"When this is over, I'm gonna barbecue that vampire, throw his dumb cape down the garbage chute and then feed his remains to the nearest scavengers..."Ten thought, as he set the coordinates and soon flew the spaceship to Saturn to retrieve his cousin.

All the while, the alien child was unaware of what was happening with his hero now back on Earth.

With Danny

The ghost boy didn't know how this happened.

He was trying to walk to the Nasty Burger to get something to eat, but he ran into a strange girl named Ran. Ran is a girl who claims to be new to Amity Park and is visiting an old childhood friend of hers here. And for some reason, she was not leaving him be.

And now said girl was walking with him, holding his arm and being clingy for some reason.

"Um...Ran. Not to be rude but can you please, in the politest way possible, let go of my arm? It's kind of difficult to walk with you so close to me like this?..."Danny asked, subtly trying to ask her to get lost.

Ran didn't seem to notice as she still held onto his arm and acted in a docile manner. She just sent him an innocent looking smile as she refused to do as he asked.

"But Little Ran doesn't wanna get lost. Little Ran here is still new to this town and doesn't know the way..."The pink haired girl said in a cutesy way, acting like she was some kind of damsel in distress.

However, the ghost boy couldn't help but find this behavior strange.

"Did she just call herself Little Ran? Twice?..."Danny thought while the pink-haired girl continued to talk to him in the same cute tone for some reason.

"So...Danny?..."Ran began, in a strange tone of voice.

"What?..."The ghost boy asked, raising a brow.

"Well, Little Ran could use a guy like you right now to escort her around your hometown and to help her found her way around ..."Ran said as she sent another cute look towards him.

Normally, Danny would be surprised and even excited that a girl as pretty as this would even be talking to him right now. However, after spending weeks dealing with Lum's antics, as well as her insistence they were married and dealing with her again just recently, Danny just wanted a break and time to himself.

And now, he was dealing with yet another cute and strange girl who won't stop talking to him.

It was strange. He had just gotten rid of Lum, and now this Ran girl won't leave him alone either.

"A few months ago, I was practically invisible to most girls at my school. Now that crazed alien princess and this weird girl won't stop clinging to me either. Irony..."The ghost boy thought.

He soon arrived at the Nasty Burger and tried to order for himself, but Ran was still clingy towards him. She asked if she could order first, and Danny didn't honestly care and just let her do that.

Ran looked at the menu and smiled.

"Ah. That combo over there looks really good..."The girl said as she pointed at it.

She soon pulled out what looked to be a coin purse but then looked sad once she looked inside it.

"Oh dear. Little Ran seems to not have enough money for it. I guess this means I should go..."Ran said, looking sad as she said this and even tears began to form in her eyes.

"Is she seriously about to cry?..."Danny thought, surprised but soon noticed a small smirk on her face as she continued her act.

"What is she doing?..."He wondered but soon saw something unbelievable happen.

The cashier, who happened to be a boy the same age as Danny, saw Ran and suddenly had hearts in his eyes.

"Oh, don't worry, Miss. For you, it's on the house..."The lovestruck teenage boy said, as he took her order and didn't charge her for it.

Danny was speechless while Ran smiled brightly.

"Really? That's so kind of you. Well, like I said, I would like that combo as well as that cute looking dessert as well. But I do feel bad that you are doing so much this Little Ran, with not enough money..."The girl said, sending him a doe eyed expression.

"Oh, don't worry. Sure, it's coming out of my paycheck, but I don't mind..."The teenage boy said, as he handed Ran her food, looking like a drooling, lovesick zombie as he did this.

Danny's jaw dropped.

"Not even Paulina gets this kind of treatment here..."The ghost boy thought, as Ran soon went to wait for her order.

The cashier sent a lovestruck sign, before he frowned at Danny.

"Yeah, what do you want?..."The cashier asked, much less friendly now and the ghost boy was almost surprised by the sudden change in mood.

"Geez. He's not even pretending to be discreet..."Danny thought in annoyance before he continued.

"Um...I'll just have the usual..."He said, and soon his order was taken.

A few minutes later

Danny didn't know how it happened, but he was now eating at a table with Ran of all people.

The ghost boy had his usual order of a mighty meaty cheesy melt, large fries and a soda, while Ran was eating a salad and had a small piece of cake and some juice as well. She began to eat it all in an elegant manner, like she was in some fancy restaurant of all things, making her seem more out of place here.

"So yummy..."Ran said in a blissful manner, before she went back to eating.

Every teenage guy in this place, from male employees to customers, were all gaping at Ran's direction. No doubt, they were all stunned by seeing such a cute girl here. One who was almost Paulina's equal in terms of beauty.

And now, some of the guys were even glaring in Danny's direction for having lunch with her, while the ghost boy was even more lost then they were.

"Why the heck is she even with a guy like that anyway?..."Danny could hear one of them mumbling.

"Your guess is as good as mine..."Danny thought, still not sure why Ran was still with him and how they both ended up here to start with.

"Um...Ran..."Danny asked but soon saw that she was finished eating her food.

"So good..."Ran let out as she used a napkin to wipe her mouth in a ladylike manner.

It was then she noticed her guide stare at her with an eyebrow raised.

"What is it, Danny?..."Ran asked, trying to sound polite.

"Um...no offense, but why are you still hanging around me? I mean...it wasn't that long ago that you and I were total strangers to each other and after like, what, five minutes, you look at me like we got way back or something..."Danny said as he questioned what was going through her mind.

Ran blinked, like she was confused by what he just said before she continued to talk to him like they actually knew each other or something.

"Was it wrong for me to spend some time with my new friend?..."She asked, sounding confused and feigning sadness.

"New friend? We just met like 20 minutes ago?..." Danny thought, but didn't say out loud as he didn't want to say something that would be too mean.

The ghost boy just continued drinking his soda. However, the brief look at her smile made him wonder if he should say something.

"Um...I guess not but how long do you plan on hanging out with me? Plus, what about that childhood friend yours that mentioned you visiting around here?..."He asked in a way so as to not incur her anger.

Ran felt her anger spike at the mention of her "childhood friend", but just sent the ghost boy a dazzling smile as she continued to mislead him.

"I forgot to mention that my visit to my childhood friend was actually a surprise for her. And I don't necessarily have to see her right away. Which means that I'm free to take my time to enjoy this new environment for a while and meet some new people. Especially boys..."Ran explained as she took a sip of her glass of juice.

The ghost boy raised a brow at her explanation.

"What kind of friend is this that she'd rather spend her time with some guy she just met?..."He thought, finding this odd.

"As for your other question, I'll let you know when I need to leave and meet up with my dear old friend but for now, why don't we both just enjoy ourselves and get to know each other better..."Ran said in a flirty way.

The ghost boy wasn't sure how to respond to that.

"So, she's vaguely answering one of my questions and dodging the other. Huh...that's definitely suspicious..." He thought but chose to remain silent.

As Danny continued to eat his food, Ran continued to smile brightly. But it was a facade hiding the cruel smirk underneath.

"Such a fool. This is almost too easy. Now both you and Lum will pay for what happened with my Darling Rei and I!..."Ran thought as she laughed evilly on the inside.

She recalled that day when she learned of the suffering her beloved went through, as how she vowed vengeance on the one who caused it.

FLASHBACK

A few days ago

Ran had arrived at Rei's UFO. She brought several boxes worth of food for his lunch in another attempt to win his heart.

"Lalalala. Oh, I can't wait to see my darling Rei..."Ran said in a lovesick way as she merrily flew to the UFO and was then given entry.

Once at the door, she happily rang the doorbell.

"Oh, Rei darling. It's me. You're adorable little Ran~..."The lovestruck girl said in a lovey-dovey way as she searched for her crush.

The door to the ship opened, allowing her inside. However, once there and as soon as she laid her eyes on her beloved, she gasped in horror.

Her precious darling Rei, while as handsome as ever, had some bruises all over his body. He was also in the middle of trying to heal his wounds with a first aid kit. The second his admirer saw him, she was horrified and quickly rushed over to him.

"Rei?! Darling?! What happened?! Who did this to you?!..."Ran said in a panic as she began to fuss over him.

This was all he told her.

"Lum..."Rei said in his usual longing way, much to Ran's envy.

However, his expression soon shifted from that to anger and resentment as he thought of another person. Even Ran was surprised by how his expression changed like that.

"Hate...Phantom..."He whispered in anger and slammed his fists to the ground as he turned into his beast form...only to yell in pain as he stupidly ended up making his wounds worse by doing that.

He didn't notice Ran there, or how she kept fussing over his injuries. Though her mind was on the name he just said.

A name she would soon grow to HATE almost as much as Lum's.

"Phantom, huh?..."Ran repeated, a dark expression appearing on her face before she went back to tending to Rei's wounds.

End Of Flashback

Present Time

That was what happened.

While Rei is a man of few words, Ran managed to gather all the information she needed on this "Phantom" guy.

Thanks to her many sources of gossip and other methods at her disposal (as well as her various methods to spy on her nemesis to gather info on her) she learned that apparently, Phantom is actually someone called Danny Fenton from Earth. Not mention that he's Lum's new husband, and he and Rei fought over her. And that creep won the fight and that was how her precious Rei got hurt like that.

It made Ran FURIOUS and that is why she is here now.

Earlier, she tried to locate Lum to gloat about her evil plan but couldn't find her. That annoyed her, but Ran had located her target and always figured she could rub her victory to Lum, AFTER she managed to get her revenge.

Either way, she'd get her payback on her hated archnemesis and this brute who dared to harm her beloved Rei. And now here she is, pretending to be all chummy with this idiot Phantom, while she continued with her evil plot.

"This is almost too easy. I just have to string along this moron and then I will get to avenge BOTH my precious Rei and get back to that lousy Lum too!..."Ran thought as she began to snicker darkly, trying hard to suppress her evil laughter.

Danny noticed her expression change and raised a brow when he noticed she was trying hard to not laugh about something.

"Uh...Ran? What's so funny?..."Danny asked, sending her a curious look.

"Huh?..."Ran went, sounding surprised.

"I asked why are you laughing like you just saw someone humiliate themselves?..."Danny asked.

Realizing she was letting her real self out for a moment, Ran tried to save face by acting sweet again.

"Oh, sorry. Little Ran just remembered something really funny that my childhood friend told once when we were younger..."The alien girl lied as she showed off her sugary sweet smile.

Danny raised a brow but said nothing as he continued eating. All the while, Ran continued making evil plans to get this guy alone and get her revenge.

"Just you wait, Phantom. You and Lum will pay for what you guys did to both Rei and me..."Ran thought wickedly, her hate and anger growing more by the second.

Later

After Danny finished his meal, he left the Nasty Burger. However, Ran kept following him. And by that, I mean she kept clinging to his arm and didn't seem to take a hint.

"Oh, so where are we going now?..."Ran asked in a cutesy way as she stayed closed by his side and tightened her grip.

The ghost boy frowned, feeling uncomfortable by this but she either didn't notice or just didn't care.

"Um...I'm going home. You can do whatever the heck you want before you meet up with your childhood friend..."Danny said, as he shook her off.

Ran was surprised by his resistance and frowned at this.

"He thinks that he's just going to shoo me away after eating lunch with me? Why isn't he charmed by me? All boys all charmed by me!..."She thought in absolute fury but managed to hide behind a fake kind smile.

She can't afford to lose her cover just yet. She needed to remain close to this loser if she wants to exact her revenge.

"Oh, don't be shy. I think spotted a karaoke place nearby. Why don't we trying going in there for a fun time?..."Ran said, trying to act even more charming than before but it had no effect on Danny.

"Um...sorry but I'm not really in the mood for some karaoke right now and I probably should head home soon..."The ghost boy said, making Ran angry enough to yell but she managed to resist doing that.

"Seems like he's not realizing how lucky he is to even be talking to me right now. Looks like I'm going to have to up my game..."She thought in determination as she continued to try and charm this boy.

"Well, then...Little Ran wants to see more of this lovely town, and she could use a nice tour guide to show her around and help her find her way..."Ran said as she fluttered her eyes at him.

"Ummm..."Danny began, wanting to reject her.

"This girl is cute but a little TOO attached...and irregular with all that cutey act? Plus, why do I feel like I'm talking to Sam's parents when they are trying to show off to their even snobbier friends?..."Danny thought as he soon found himself stuck with Ran again.

To his surprise, she sent him another almost amorous look, one that made the ghost boy really uneasy right now.

"So, Danny? Before all that...What do you say? Perhaps later I can...going somewhere private where we can be alone?..."Ran began in a sweet, almost flirty kind of way.

"Is she hitting on me?!..."The ghost boy thought in shock and hesitation.

"Uh..."Danny said, not sure how to respond or turn her down.

Just then, a group of people showed up to interrupt them. A certain group that Danny knew all too well.

"Well well well, look. It's Fen-Toenail..."An obnoxious voice was heard, much to Danny's annoyance and Ran's surprise.

"As if on que..."Danny muttered, as he turned to see the A-Listers.

He saw Dash, Kwan, Paulina and Star. Apparently they were all hanging out and decided to bug him as soon as they spotted him. Again.

"What are you doing here, Loser? And where is that hottie Lynn?..."Dash demanded as he looked around for her.

"Lynn?..."Ran repeated, wondering who they are talking about.

The ghost boy ignored her as he was too busy dealing with these nuisances now.

"She's not here. She left to go home to her family or whatever. I honestly don't care..."Danny semi-lied, but Dash smirked.

"So, that babe dumped you already, huh? I knew it..."Dash laughed.

"We were never a couple to start with..."Danny muttered but was ignored by them.

"Still surprised someone like her even looked your way, but at least she saw some reason to cut her losses..."Paulina said in a snobby way.

"I'll say..."Star, being a satellite as always, agreed with her.

Danny frowned as he just wanted to ignore them and leave. Ran, on the other hand, was annoyed by the interruption.

"Geez, these humans are so annoying. I better think of something to get rid of them quickly, before they somehow ruin my hard work with my vengeance!..."Ran thought but kept a demure look on her face.

"Um...excuse me? Could Little Ran ask you all to please excuse her tour guide? She needs him to show her across this town..."Ran began as she tried to look and sound as innocent as possible.

The A-Listers saw her. Dash and Kwan's jaw dropped and blushed, while Paulina and Star frowned at the soft-spoken girl's appearance. Dash then put a grin on his face as he tried to flirt with her...after he not-so-gently shoved Danny aside to get closer to her.

"Well, hey there cutie. What's your name?..."Dash said, thinking he was being smooth.

"My name is Ran. I am new to town..."Ran said in a polite tone as she tried to act refined.

"Hey there Ran. The name is Dash Baxter. King of Casper High and quarterback to the football team. Which reminds me, do you like quarterbacks?..."Dash asked, using his usual pick-up line he uses on girls.

"I don't even know what that is..."Ran thought, internally annoyed but still tried to act sweet.

"Oh...um...I'm not sure...I've never met a real one before..."Ran said, looking shy as she said this.

Danny raised his eyebrow at Ran's remark, finding it odd.

"She's never met a quarterback? Even if she's not into sports, she has to at least met some teenagers who play sports. Unless she's from some school that doesn't play football..."He thought as Dash and Kwan drooled over Ran.

Star and Paulina, on the other hand, did what they always did when they ran across another girl who was just as pretty as they are. They talk down to them.

"Um...Ran was it? Is that actually your real name?..."Paulina asked in a snobby way.

"What of it?!..."Ran said in a rude way, shocking even Danny with her tone.

Ran realized she slipped up and went back to her cute mode.

"I mean...yes, it is. My mother gave me that name..."Ran said as Dash and Kwan were once again under her spell.

Danny, on the other hand, was not.

"Okay, that was weird..."He thought, as he continued to watch Ran interact with the A-listers.

"I wonder who she got to do that impressive dye job with her hair?..." Star muttered quietly to herself, but the alien girl heard her loud and clear.

"This is all natural..." Ran stated out loud, sounding proud of that fact.

"And what's with that pink getup? Are you some kind maid employed at a rundown place somewhere?..."Paulina asked in an arrogant tone, as she mocked Ran choice of outfit.

"What did she just say to me?!..." Ran thought, as her face looked like that of one who was about to inflicted pain onto someone but only for a split second as she immediately returned to her cute mode.

"Oh, this little thing? I got it at a trendy clothing store when I went out shopping with some of my old friends back home. I think it suits me..."Ran said in a cheery way, though it seemed forced.

"What do you think, boys? Do you think this dress looks nice on Little Ran?..."The pink haired girl asked, fluttering her eyes as she did a cutesy pose.

Danny blinked, while Dash and Kwan were drooling over her again.

"Yeah, totally!..."Dash said with a nod, almost hypnotized by her beauty.

"You're really hot!..."Kwan said with the same kind of expression, much to Star's jealousy.

"Seriously? I'm way hotter than she is..."The blonde girl thought, arms crossed in annoyance.

Ran ignored this and then turned to Danny.

"And what do you think, Danny?..."Ran asked as she did another cute pose, like she really wanted to hear his opinion.

"Uh...yeah. That dress looks really nice on you..."Danny said, half serious and half just not wanting to hurt her feelings.

Ran smiled and even gave him a hug of all things.

"Oh Danny. You're so sweet..."The pink haired girl said, while Danny was surprised by her actions.

"Uh...just stating the truth..."Danny said, as he stepped back after the hug ended.

He was about to say something, but the A-Listers, upon seeing Ran close to Danny, jumped to conclusions.

"Unbelievable. First that babe Lynn and now this new hottie. Since when were you a player, Fenton?..." Kwan genuinely asked, making Danny flinch at the question.

"I'm not. This isn't what you think. I just met her today..."Danny tried to explain.

"And he's being quite the gentleman in giving me company. We've been having such a fun day together too. So much fun that he even agreed to be my tour guide through this town..."Ran said in a cutesy way as she clung to Danny's arm again.

"Wait, what?! I didn't agr-..." Danny tried to clarify but was cut off by Ran interrupting him.

"Anyway, Danny and I should be going now. I need some help from him to make my surprise for my childhood friend even more surprising..."Ran said as she tried to excuse herself with Danny by her side.

However, Dash got angry and jealous that another hot girl was spending time with Fenton and tried to interfere by blocking their way.

"No need to bother with this loser, Ran. I can be your tour guide and your date too. Come on, I can show you how we A-listers have fun in this town..."Dash offered as he kept eying her.

Ran was irritated and not at all flattered by his attention.

"Is this blockhead blind or something? He clearly can't read a room!..." Ran shouted in her inner mind, while keeping her real self hidden behind a cute and innocent looking smile.

She was about to make up some excuse to leave her and drag Danny away with her, but the dark-haired boy then shook her off, much to her shock.

"Um...this is all fascinating but I...gotta go. I have chores to do, so bye..."Danny said as she quickly ran away.

"Wait...Danny?!..."Ran called out, but he was already gone.

"Finally. I hate having to talk to losers outside of school. Why couldn't it be my precious ghost boy who always saves me from danger?..."Paulina said in a whiny way but was ignored.

Ran, on the other hand, was furious that her target just escaped.

"Darn it! I was supposed to steal his youth and leave him a wrinkly miserable shell so Lum would be in a state of despair. Now he's slipping through my fingers along with my chances of revenge!..."Ran thought, her fists shaking as her anger rose.

Not seeing this, Dash scoffed and misinterpreted her reaction.

"Forget that loser, Babe. Why don't I show you the best parts of Amity Park, like the movies or the mall? I can even show you how far I can throw a football if you want..."Dash said with a grin, thinking he could easily win her over.

Ran was furious that her target escaped her but soon got an idea to get back at this fool for interfering with her plans. She hid her anger behind her cute smile as she an almost sparkly eyed smile to the idiotic blonde boy.

"Oh, well...I guess I can spare a bit of my time with a big, strong guy with such youthful energy..."Ran said in a flirty, sweet manner to the tall jock.

Dash grinned as Ran wrapped her arms around his and they soon left together. Paulina, Star and Kwan all saw this. Kwan felt a bit envious of his best friend, while the girls rolled their eyes.

"So predictable..."Paulina muttered, annoyed.

"Boys..."Star muttered in annoyance.

"I'm filled with plenty of youthful energy too...whatever that means...I just don't usually show it off as much as Dash does..."Kwan said, trying to get Ran's attention but they were already gone.

"Whatever. Let's just head to the Nasty Burger. Remember that Kwan's treating us to some mighty mini meaty cheesy melts..."Star said as they walked inside the burger joint.

"Wait. I am?..."Kwan asked out loud, surprised as the girls dragged him inside the burger joint.

All three were unaware that Ran had lured Dash to a nearby alley...and they were also unaware of what fate would befall their so-called friend in only a few moments.

A little later

With Danny

The ghost boy had left the Nasty Burger area before Dash got angry and tried to pick a fight. He also left that weird Ran girl behind too.

"Well...that certainly wasn't how I planned on getting away from her, but I definitely won't complain..."He thought, just glad to be away from that situation before things got worse.

However, the ghost boy still felt that something was off about that cutesy girl he met today. Not only did she act too sweet for it to be sincere, he also noticed a lot of her behavior made no sense to him.

"Hmm...that Ran girl did mention being new to town, but she also said that she's never met a quarterback before? With her looks, I doubt any jock would simply ignore her. But then why did she say that? I dunno, maybe she's homeschooled or something..." Danny thought to himself.

He was about to cross the street and head for home, only for someone to suddenly shout his name from behind him.

"Oh Danny. There you are, I nearly lost sight of you.." Ran called out, as she ran to the boy and suddenly clung to him again.

"What? Ran? Where did you come from?..."The ghost boy asked, surprised to see her again.

"From the Burger place, silly..."Ran lied quickly, giggling like he just said a funny joke.

"Uh, where is Dash and the others?..."Danny asked, as he was worried they might have followed her.

Ran just had a thoughtful look on her face.

"Hmmm...you mean those people at that burger joint? We only talked for a few minutes and that was it..."Ran lied, secretly not caring enough to know where the others were at moment.

"You left...and they didn't stop you?..." Danny said, finding it hard to believe that Dash would give up so quickly on a girl who was just as cute as Paulina.

"No, not at all. They said something about our conversation being boring and walked away..."Ran lied again.

"Boring, huh?..."Danny commented, as he thought that over.

"I guess that I can see Paulina and Star doing that...but Dash and Kwan?..."He thought, since he knew those guys usually listen to hormones more than anything.

His thoughts were interrupted as Ran suddenly clung to him again, trying to get his attention again.

"Now, where were we?..."Ran said in a flirtatious way.

"We were talking about you and your childhood friend, who supposably lives around here. I was about to head back home, but now I'm not so sure anymore..." Danny said as he still felt uneasy around her again, while the pink haired girl refused to be ignored.

"I'm so not letting you slip away from me twice in one day, Danny Fenton!..." Ran thought, determined to fulfill her plan of vengeance.

"Oh, that's right! Well, why don't we continue our little conversation somewhat else?..."The pink haired girl said in a bright and cheery way, though the ghost boy found that strange.

"Okay, something she said seems off. Why is she so desperate to be alone with me?..." Danny thought, as he noticed contradictions in Ran's explanation.

"Well, you're having a sudden change in plans, then I have a few suggestions we could try..." Ran said with sweet tone and a gentle smile that hid some suspicious intentions underneath.

However, before either Ran or Danny could speak up, someone else caught both their attention.

"Danny!..."Was heard.

Danny soon saw his friends and went to them. Ran kept following him.

"Is she really going to follow me wherever I go?..." Danny wondered as he went to join his friends.

"We tried calling you, what happened?..."Sam asked, not noticing Ran yet.

"Uh...sorry...I was...busy..." Danny said, as he soon found himself being clung by Ran again.

"Danny, wait...you almost forgot about little old me..."Ran whined in a "cute way".

Team Phantom's eyes landed on her, which lead to two very different reactions towards Ran's arrival.

"Um...who are you?..."Sam asked, glaring at the frilly looking girl who just kept smiling at them.

"Oh, hello there. My name is Ran..."Ran said as she did cute and graceful curtsy.

Sam frowned, already hating this girl for wearing such bright colors, while Tucker grinned.

"Well, hi there. The name is Tucker Foley. T.F for Too Fine..."Tucker said, trying to flirt with her...and poorly.

"What an idiot..."Ran thought with a frown on the inside but sent him a sunny smile on the outside.

"Nice to meet you both. It's so nice to meet Danny's other friends, I hope we can get along with one another..."Ran said with a girly giggle.

On the inside, she was annoyed and already trying to think of ways to ditch them.

"Great, now I have to figure out how to get rid of these two pests..." Ran angrily complained in her inner thoughts, but kept her fake smile on her face.

Knowing his friends wanted an explanation, Danny knew that he would have to tell them everything that happened to him so far. But first, he needed some privacy from Ran for a moment.

"Um...could you excuse us for a minute, Ran? I gotta ask my friends a...uh...homework question. Won't take long..." Danny lied quickly as he took his friends a few yards away to talk.

All the while Ran had her eyes on him, not letting him out of her sight.

With Danny

"Seriously, Danny? What's going on?..."Sam demanded, looking angry though she kept het voice low so that Ran couldn't hear them.

The ghost boy tried to summarize everything as best as he understood it.

"I wish that I knew. I had just managed to get rid of Lum again-..."

"Lum?..."Sam and Tucker gasped.

"Quiet. Look, yes, we fought but I managed to defeat her again, thanks to mom and dad's gizmo. But after that, I tried to go to the Nasty Burger to grab a bite and came across Ran, and she won't leave me alone. She's basically been following me and clinging to me the whole time..."Danny whispered to his friends.

"Seriously? First Lum and now that hottie? How come hot girls only seem to notice you?..."Tucker complained, mildly jealous.

"I'm serious. And Tucker, you might want to reconsider hitting on this particular girl, given how creepy Ran is..."Danny said, surprisingly his friends with how he just described that girl.

"Creepy? Creepy how?..."Sam asked.

"As creepy as your parents are when they try to show off to your neighbors by acting like some paid actor doing a commercial...though I'm almost willing to say she's almost Vlad level creepy at this point..."Danny said as he recalled how insincere and phony Ran was earlier.

"Seriously? That creepy?..."Sam asked, actually surprised to hear that.

The ghost boy nodded, looking exhausted now.

"Yeah. She acts all cutesy and girly and at first, I just thought she was being overly kind to someone she just met..."Danny began.

"But then I notice her sending me dirty glares when she thought I wasn't looking, and she slipped out of her nice act when she talked to Paulina earlier. It was like something from Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I almost thought that I was just seeing things, but now I'm a little more certain that she's doing it on purpose..." Danny explained, having noticed those signs from Ran earlier.

"So, you think she's trouble?..."Sam asked, and Danny nodded.

"Yeah. At first I just tried to be nice but now I'm really getting creeped out. Especially by that fake smile and her overly sugary sweet act. It's definitely phony..."The ghost boy said.

"Is she a ghost?..."Tucker asked, and his best friend shook his head.

"No, I would have sensed if she was..." Danny said, as he already ruled that out earlier. "I honestly don't know what she wants to be honest..."He added.

"Maybe she's one of Dash's friends just trying to pull a prank on you?..."Tucker suggested, since he figured it wasn't that farfetched.

"No. We ran into Dash and his crew earlier and they honestly didn't seem to recognize her..." Danny explained.

"They could have been acting to throw you off guard..."Sam suggested, but Danny frowned.

"No, they weren't. You remember when we all did that school play last semester. You also remember that Dash is NOT a good actor and Paulina even less so..." Danny reminded them.

Recalling that event and how those idiots did a lousy performance, she realized Danny's pointed.

"Then what exactly is up with that girl?..."Sam asked, since none of this was making any sense right now.

"That's what I want to find out. I tried ditching her, but she keeps following me. She even tried to convince me into taking her somewhere more private. It's so weird..." Danny said, as he was starting to get another headache right now.

"Maybe she has a crush on you or something..."Tucker suggested, while Danny and Sam sent him flat looks.

"What? It could happen..."The techno-geek argued.

"I highly doubt a girl who actually managed to be even frillier and girlier than Paulina would waste their time trying to flirt with Danny of all people, especially after knowing his parents. No offense..."Sam said quickly.

"Some taken..." Danny said, frowning at that remark.

He was about to say something else, but his "new friend" tried to get his attention again.

"Oh Danny darling. Are done talking to your friends yet? I'm still in need of a tour guide..."Ran called out.

Hearing the word "Darling" made a chill run down Danny's spine and he suddenly felt deja-vu.

"Why do I suddenly have this ominous feeling on the back of my spine?..."He thought, shuddering a bit.

"Danny..."Sam began, sounding worried about him but he sent her a stern look.

"She wants something and I'm still trying to figure out what that is. Look, I'll just show her around town for a bit and see if that finally gets her off my back. If something happens, I'll text you guys for some backup. Until then, I'll see you guys later..." Danny said, as he walked back Ran since he knew she'd just keep following him if he ignored her.

The pink haired girl wasted no time in grabbing his arm and walking away with him, happily chatting like they were old friends or more. The sight made Sam Manson furious, and she barely hid it.

"Come on, you moron. Let's get back to phase one of my revenge plan..." Ran thought, as she added some distance between the two of them and Danny's friends.

Watching Danny leave with Ran, Sam's fists shook and Tucker sighed.

"We're totally gonna spy on them, aren't we?..."He guessed.

"Obviously..."Sam said, as she pulled out her binoculars and went to follow them.

Tucker did the same, as they both stealthily kept track of Danny and Ran from a safe distance. Wanting to be as close as possible, in case Danny really did need their help.

Later

Danny was still dealing with Ran, who kept acting flirty with him and trying to get him somewhere alone without being spied on.

"Let's go to that place next, Darling..."Ran said as she seemingly wants to explore so many places that she is strangely unfamiliar with.

When Ran couldn't find any decent place near here, she then searching for some in the next spot.

"Come on! There's got to be at least place that has a secluded enough spot for me to use. It doesn't need to fancy or romantic or anything like that, it just has to exist!..." Ran thought with a bit of frustration.

She then spotted someplace and tried to resist the urge to laugh smugly, and maintained her fake, delicate smile on her face.

"Teehee. This looks nice too. Let's go in there next..."Ran said in a cute way as she then brought the half ghost boy with her to the next location.

"Hey, wh-..."Danny couldn't finish as she grabbed his hand and basically dragged him and being surprisingly strong about it, almost like they were handcuffed together.

Ran soon brought Danny to a nearby alley that was next to a book store and there was no one around.

"Uh, what's the deal? Why did you bring me here?..."Danny asked, looking around and getting a bad feeling about this.

Ran then turned around and then sent Danny an inviting look as she leaned forward. The ghost boy was surprised, to say the least.

"W-What are you..."He stammered as Ran then sent him a flirty look as she leaned closer.

"Kiss me!~..."Ran requested as she puckered her lips.

Danny was surprised by what he just heard.

"Wait...what?..."He went as Ran remained like that with puckered lips.
