The past two weeks Lucy has spent her days off answering any questions that Fukuzawa had while reading Lucy's novel. She's glad that Kai hasn't gotten upset about her spending more time with her friend and occasionally Ms. Yamamoto and not as much with him. In fact, he encourages her to. If it were anyone else, she would be suspicious he didn't want her around that much because he was seeing someone else behind her back. But he knows she lacks friends of the female variety and can't always spend her available time with him.

As of late when they do get time together, they're not alone that much because she's become friends with the men he's recruited. Mainly Rappa who has become like an older brother to her. Kai doesn't like that they're getting close because he gets jealous when all her attention isn't on him. However, he can handle that more than Sakaki constantly hitting on her. Sakaki was not too thrilled when she gave him a Lucy Kick without receiving any repercussions for her actions. Rappa was the one to come to her defense that a kick from her is better than Overhaul disassembling him.

The second Fukuzawa had finished the book she showed up at Lucy's and waited until she was done at work to ask the new questions that popped into her head. Lucy very patiently answered each one. It felt really nice for Lucy to be able to share this with someone else. Maybe the rest of the world will be just as accepting… On second thought, she may be kidnapped like usual for her magic, well in this world her 'quirk'. Should a certain individual learn of her secret? Her fear of what he'll do is greater than her fear of Kai's reaction. She knows Kai knows she's hiding some things herself, and he never pries.

Fukuzawa lets out a sigh, "I would love to see Earthland. Do you think that if you find a way back there might be a way to jump in between worlds?"

"The only way I can think of is finding the man that sent me here and copying his quirk. Though, that's if I can copy it. I haven't tried copying quirks."

"You had told me before that you didn't get a good look at the man who sent you here, but what does this Ivan fellow look like? I could ask around and see if anyone has seen him."

"He's tall, has black hair and tanned skin. He has distinguished eyebrows, an odd beard, and a creepy smile. The last time I saw him he was wearing a long cloak, dress shirt, and an ascot tied in a full Windsor knot. I know that doesn't give you much to work with."

"One of the women at the shelter likes to draw, maybe she can attempt to draw up a sketch composite?"

"That would be wonderful, but are you sure asking around won't rouse too much suspicion? If the wrong people were to find out, I don't want you or the others getting hurt."

"Don't worry about it, we'll be fine. Why did Ivan have that man send you here? Do you think he has some diabolical plan?"

"The last time I saw Ivan he wanted to get his hands on the Lumen Histoire but that ended up being used and no longer exists. My guess as to why he sent me here is because he just wanted to be an asshole and take one of the members somewhere hard to find. As far as the masked man goes, I don't know his connection with Ivan and why he would be a part of my being sent here. Fairy Tail has made many enemies throughout the years. Hell, it could be someone we don't know who has a vendetta against us. That still begs the question of why he is associated with Ivan in the first place."

"Maybe Ivan was thinking of ways to hurt Fairy Tail and he came across the masked man by chance and heard he wanted to hurt the guild too?"

"Maybe."

"Have you tried using the soul-hearing magic?" Fukuzawa was surprised about that ability. It explained how she was able to find those in trouble. If it weren't so dangerous for her, Lucy would make a great hero.

"Yeah. I had thought I found him once but when I went in the direction I heard him, he wasn't there."

They change the topic to inviting Sakurai, Yuki, and possibly Mika out sometime. They have schedules to work around. Sakurai works an office job and sometimes she works well into the night, Yuki who stays at the women's shelter has a job at a grocery store, and Mika is apprehensive about leaving, understandably so.

When Lucy informs her that Chisaki has a date planned, Fukuzawa asks her if she's told him her secret.

"No. I know I should soon, but I'm scared."

"You should tell him sooner rather than later."

"I know."

Fukuzawa doesn't talk about it any further, instead watches in awe as Lucy's spirits Cancer and Virgo get her ready for her date. She's been introduced to all of them but it's still unbelievable that she can summon these spirits from out of nowhere.

Kai is nervous. He's only taken her on one date, back in July, and it was a festival, not something he put together himself. He had a couple of his men clean and sanitize an area up on the rooftop of the compound to have dinner and a spot to stargaze.

Since their little mishap during their make-out session at the beginning of August, they haven't gotten much time together. If she's not at work or hanging out with Fukuzawa or making the occasional visit to Ms. Yamamoto and he doesn't have anything going on with the yakuza they make time for each other. If he had it his way, they would spend more time together, but he doesn't want to be that guy who takes her time away from her friends and family. He wouldn't like it if she did that to him.

The time they do get together they spend at the compound, but they don't get much privacy. His men are always around. He's glad they're all getting along but it would be great if they would leave them be. Sakaki has been pushing his luck by hitting on her and almost letting slip what they've been up to. He knows she wishes he would talk to her about it, but he doesn't want her involved if he could help it.

A few men snickered at him for planning something so cheesy. The newest recruit, Hekiji scolded them for it. Even though he isn't fond of violence, he doesn't stop Rappa (whom he's not very fond of either) from punching the men who dare be disrespectful towards the man he is very loyal to. Rappa's belligerent behavior has been getting worse, so Overhaul recruited the devout Buddhist to serve as Rappa's babysitter.

Kai is dressed in his usual outfit, minus the tie. He has a few top buttons undone and his sleeves rolled up. He meets her out front. She's in a cream-colored off-the-shoulder sweater, a pair of jean shorts, and a pair of black flats. He takes her to the side of the building where a ladder is connected to the building to get to the roof. He lets her go up before him. He constructed a wall between the ledge and where they'll be so she can't see his surprise right away. Wanting to see her reaction he tells her to wait on the other side of the wall. He gives everything one last look over and calls out to her.

Lucy steps around the wall and a gasp leaves her mouth. Her palm rests on her chest above her heart and tears well up. "Kai, this is beautiful." There's a table and chairs, a candle lit in the middle with covered dishes in front of each seat. She sits down when Kai holds out the chair for her and pushes her in. She places the napkin on her lap as he puts his gloves in his coat pocket and drapes said coat over the chair. When he sits, he places his napkin on his lap and then gestures to her to reveal her dinner. Nikujaga. A basic, but filling dish that is an adaptation of traditional European beef stews. "This looks delicious."

"Thanks. Hopefully, it turned out all right." Embarrassed he adds, "I made it."

Lucy gives him a soft smile, "You never told me you can cook."

Kai shrugs his shoulders, "Pops and Kurono are the only ones that know." He watches her take a bite and let out the breath he didn't know he had been holding when she lets out a mmmm.

She compliments the dish, and they talk about cooking. She brings up him teaching her to make more filling dishes and he tells her he'd be more than happy to; they just have to do it at her place since everyone seems to gravitate to her when she's there.

"There's something I've been meaning to talk to you about," Kai states when he's finished eating.

Having said that so abruptly leaves Lucy a little concerned. She wipes her mouth with the napkin and places it on the table. "Should I be worried?"

Kai reaches over and grabs her hand. His thumb runs along the top of it. He never realized just how touch-starved and lonely he was until she came into his life. Kai's mysophobia has made it extremely difficult to receive any kind of touch whether platonic or intimate. He's thankful that when he's with her, his reactions to germs haven't been as extreme as they usually are. He's been surprised that he's been able to push through the need to excessively wash his hands when he has his gloves off around her and touching her. He's guessing his being touch-starved has a hand in that. When he's with her he doesn't feel as much fear and or anxiety. He knows he'll never be cured of mysophobia, but she's unknowingly helped him gain control of it.

"Since I've met you, I've been questioning my beliefs."

"Which are?"

"When I was younger, I read a book concerning an old theory; that a virus carried by rats caused the quirk phenomenon. While the theory lacks any hard evidence, I believe quirks are a plague on humanity."

"I heard that theory too. I take it you've done your own research?"

"Yeah, since I was a kid, and I couldn't find anything."

"If it's something you still want to look into, I can help you research that more."

"Huh?" He wasn't expecting that. Most people call him crazy for thinking it's a plague.

She squeezes his hand, "Maybe it'll put you more at ease knowing whether or not it's the truth."

"Thanks. Also..." Kai trails off.

"Take your time."

"I resent quirks and believe they should be eliminated. I know it's ironic considering how often I use mine."

"Why do you feel that way?"

"It's complicated."

"Try me."

A perverted response is at the tip of his tongue, and he holds back. "For one thing they encourage people to become heroes or villains, again ironic. As I mentioned, I believe in the theory that quirks came from rats and it's a reason as to why I'm particular about the concept of cleanliness."

Though not the same, Lucy thinks about the time Ichiya created a handsome parfum that caused the residents of Magnolia to turn into him. It spread quickly and infected everyone. Lucy shivers at the thought of the problem not being solved and an army of Ichiya's roaming around Fiore.

Kai notices the shiver and asks, "Are you okay?"

"Huh?" She can't tell him what she was thinking about, so she says, "Oh yeah, just a little chilly."

Kai gets up, grabs his coat, and places it over Lucy's shoulder. In a joking manner, he tells her, "Maybe you should have worn something that covers your legs." He sits back down and continues, "I also believe it's infected people with syndromes of heroism and villainy. Acts of heroic and petty crime is a sickness." He can't look at her when he says, "I tend to look down on those who use their abilities for either purpose."

"That's hypocritical considering you are helping save those women and children from being auctioned off. Isn't that an act of heroism? You also use your quirk to kill people. That's an act of villainy."

"I know it's hypocritical which is why I've been questioning it. I just can't bring myself to believe that because of what you do, you have a sickness and a case of hero syndrome."

"But everyone else does?"

"Yeah. A part of me feels like I'm the only person enlightened to the true nature of quirks, which makes it sound like I have a big ego."

"Hmm.. maybe just a little bit. I don't agree with you about quirks being a plague and acts of heroism and villainy being a sickness, but I'm not going to tell you you're wrong feeling that way. Everyone has the right to their own opinions."

"Thank you. My opinion on that may change one day. No matter what though, I'll always believe rats are what caused all of this in the beginning."

"Hey."

Kai finally makes eye contact with her. He had given up on having this conversation with others due to their reactions. Lucy, however, surprises him.

"You can talk to me about anything without judgment you know."

Kai gets out of his chair, grabs her hand, and pulls her out of it. He wraps his arms around her. "The same goes for you." He gives her a light kiss and leads her to the blanket and pillows. "I know there's something you're not telling me." He cuts her off when she's about to reply. "It can wait until you're ready. There's still a lot more you don't know about me."

Lucy nods her head and gets down on the blanket with Kai. Looking up at the sky she says, "I've always liked looking up at the stars."

"Do you know all of the constellations?"

"Yup, all 88."

"Damn, there's 88?"

Lucy laughs, "Yeah." She points up at the sky and as she draws imaginary lines with her finger she says, "That right there is Capricorn." She points in another direction and repeats the same movement, "There's Cygnus."

Kai watches where her finger points as she lists off more. "I don't see it," he admits as he turns on his side and rests his head in his hand.

She chuckles, "A lot of people don't." She looks up at him when he cups her neck and the look on his face makes her heart skip a beat. She cups his face and rubs the pad of her thumb along his cheekbone.

He closes his eyes and leans into her touch. Opening his eyes he kisses the palm of her hand, his fingertips trailing along her neck. He takes note of her reactions to his fingertips trailing down her side and to her belly. He slips his hand underneath her sweater and caresses the skin. Her lips are parted slightly and she's breathing heavily.

"K-Kai," she breathes out before he places his lips on hers.

He can't get enough of her plump soft lips and the way they meld with his. What he loves even more is when their tongues meet. He lightly nips her bottom lip and when she opens her mouth his tongue slowly makes its way into her wet cavern, their tongues doing a slow dance around the other. Tonight isn't as hurried as the other time. This time Kai wants to take his time caressing her smooth skin, memorizing what kind of reactions he gets out of her from the areas he's explored. His hand makes its way to her thigh, and he lightly caresses the skin there as well. The kiss is broken by her gasp from the touch. He smirks at the hitch in her breath when he trails close to her center.

Lucy surprises him by rolling him onto his back so she can straddle his waist. She unbuttons his shirt and when it makes it toward the end, she sits up on her knees so she can untuck it with Kai's help. Lucy moans at the sight of his toned muscular body. He's always teased her, leaving her wondering what he's hiding underneath and he's a lot more sculpted than she thought he would be.

His hands grip her thighs as she runs her hands up and down his torso. He groans when she opens up his shirt to expose all of his torso and kisses what skin she can reach. When he's had enough, he sits up and tugs at her sweater, "This needs to come off, now."

Lucy looks around, "But people could see-" Walls sprout up all around them. She looks over at Kai, whose hand is on the rooftop.

"There, now no one can see you unless they're above us." Kai is thankful that the moon is bright enough to shine down on him so he can watch Lucy take off her sweater revealing more of herself, leaving her upper half in only a magenta strapless bra. He wraps his arms around her, hugs her too him, and caresses her back. He wants to remove that bra so there's no barrier between their chests but then he would break and take her right there on the rooftop. It's not where he wants to be for their first time not to mention they don't have any protection.

Lucy's arms make their way around his neck and her fingers rake through his hair. Lucy moans his name as he continues to explore her back, his hands causing a shiver to go down her spine. She can't help the roll of her hips and the moan of his name when he moves her hair out of the way and kisses her shoulder.

Kai leans back enough so he can kiss his way down to the top of her breasts and kisses to the other side and up to her other shoulder. The tip of his nose runs along her neck, and he murmurs, "I love how you feel, you're so soft."

Lucy cups his face to bring it to hers so he can crash their lips together. She feels his hands grip her hips tightly and rock her against him. They both groan and break apart.

"Kai…" Lucy trails off.

"Lucy," Kai husks out.

"Kai, I need to tell you-" She's cut off by Kurono shouting his name.

"What is it Chrono? You know I'm busy tonight."

"Do you honestly think I would be up here if it wasn't important?"

Lucy gets off of his lap and searches for her sweater.

Kai stands and buttons up his shirt, "I'm sorry Lucy."

Lucy smiles at Kai, "It's okay. Probably a good thing before it went further."

He lets out a sigh, "Yeah." He then yells, "Call Sato to meet us out front so he can drive her home."

"That's not necessary, I can walk."

"I don't think so." Once they're both presentable, he fixes the rooftop, and his right-hand man is leaning against the wall he made earlier in the day.

Kurono gives the both of them a knowing grin. Sure, they made themselves presentable, but they still look somewhat disheveled. "I'll let the boss know you'll be down in a bit."

Kai sighs as his friend takes his leave, "I'm sorry about this." He grabs her hand and walks to the ladder.

"It's okay, really. I knew what I was getting myself into when I agreed to be with you."

Kai allows her to go first, and he follows her down. To him, it's not okay. It's odd, for someone who doesn't want him to be part of the yakuza, Pops sends him on these jobs his men could easily do. The majority of the time he's checking on the businesses they protect, making sure no one is bothering them and asking for the money they owe for getting protection. When they make it to the entrance, Sato is there waiting for her.

Kai cups her face, "Good night, Lucy."

Lucy leans into his touch, "Good night, Kai." She leans up to give him a swift kiss and smiles at him.

He watches the vehicle pull away and when it's out of sight he heads into the building wondering what they discovered now.

Maki Modoshi, whom everyone knows as The Boss or Pops/Jiji, is taking a leisurely stroll through the compound, checking in and catching up with his men as well as giving them a silent reminder to not say anything about the new trafficking ring that cropped up around Lucy. They shouldn't be talking about it, but they tend to act like high school girls when there's new gossip. As long as they don't say anything out in public and be aware of their surroundings in the compound then he leaves it be.

Lucy must not find out about it, if she were to, she would want to help but after what happened last time… He was surprised it didn't take longer for her to come to terms with what she did. She admitted it was hard because she was worried about what her Fairy Tail family would think and realized they wouldn't hold it against her. Hell, a couple of new members had done a lot worse. Despite that though, he doesn't want her to have to live with that. Not to mention she got lucky that none of the survivors caught on that the three men causing all of that mayhem was actually her.

Speaking of Lucy, he knows she's somewhere at the compound. Chisaki had asked her to come over after she was done with work. She had given him the heads up that she planned on telling Chisaki everything. As a matter of fact, she tried the other night but was interrupted. If he can help it, he would like to be around when she does to be extra insurance in case everything goes south. There's no telling what Chisaki's reaction will be. He doesn't think Chisaki would physically hurt her, not intentionally. The man is going to feel betrayed that she didn't tell him sooner. Hell, Chisaki is going to feel betrayed when he finds out that he's known the entire time.

On another note, aside from Lucy trying to tell Chisaki her secret, Kurono had interrupted something very intimate. Chisaki getting as far as he has with Lucy is and isn't surprising. Yes, he's a germaphobe but he's a man as well. A very picky man and it's highly likely Lucy will be the only one for him.

Modoshi rubs his temples. It's going to be a shitshow when Chisaki learns of everything. When he first met Lucy, he didn't think it would be a good thing they meet, mainly because he knows how Chisaki can be. It didn't stop him from showing her pictures and telling her about him like a proud father. He honestly didn't think anything would come of it if they did meet.

Imagine his surprise, that despite the condition Lucy was in, when they stumbled upon her outside of the compound back in April, he could see the interest in Chisaki's eyes. He's never shown an interest in much of anything, especially a woman, and despite what may come in the future he encouraged it because all he wants is for his "son" to be happy and live for something other than bringing the Shie Hassaikai back to its glory days.

He didn't think that their relationship would blossom this fast. He wasn't expecting Chisaki to give her the necklace that essentially ties her to him within the first month of dating. However, if one were to ask Chisaki, she became his when she came over back in April for a coffee date. Knowing Lucy's past, he's not looking forward to her reaction to having "married" Chisaki without knowing she did so.

Maybe he should sit both of them down in private and force both of them to tell each other what they've been hiding from the other instead of dragging it out. It could either end in a catastrophe or they could surprise him and though be pissed about them withholding information from the other they work it out. There's no telling how it will go. Or maybe, just let it all play out on its own. It's not as if he can rewind time as his name suggests.

Modoshi stops in his tracks when the sound of laughter hits his ears. He hadn't realized that his feet took him to the communal room. He discreetly opens the door and peeks in. Lucy is on the couch, curled into the side of Chisaki, his arm wrapped around her shoulders holding her tight against him. The men Chisaki has been recruiting are scattered about. Rappa is sitting on the other side of the couch, his weight causing the other side to rise a bit. The newest addition, Hekiji Tengai is standing behind Rappa looking at him with annoyance. From what he's heard the man isn't too fond of violence and Rappa is the exact opposite. Kurono sits on the floor in front of and between Rappa and Lucy. They're watching something animated on the television, as are the others, Sakaki who has a bottle of sake next to him, Katsukame, and Hojo playing a card game.

He sees the annoyed look on Chisaki's face, but he knows deep down the young man is happy. He's tried treating his men as soldiers, but it has been hard for him to do so when Lucy treats them as her friends. Chisaki would never admit it, but they are his friends as well.

This right here is what he's always wanted for Chisaki. Living life with friends, a nice girl he may legally marry and have kids with one day. He thinks about Chisaki being a father and lets out a snort. He would love to be there for the diaper changes. His snort catches everyone in the room's attention.

Lucy smiles brightly at him, "Hey Jiji! Come join us!"

"I'm fine dear, I-"

"Rappa, get off the couch so Pops can sit there." Chisaki orders.

"Of course." Rappa moves and sits on the floor next to the couch. "Here ya go Mr. Bossman."

"Rappa," Chisaki says with a warning in his voice.

Modoshi takes a seat next to Lucy, "It's alright Chisaki."

"Are you hungry? Kurono bought a bunch of food."

"I'm fine dear. So, what are we watching?"

"An anime called Tokyo Ghoul."

"Oh? What's it about?"

Rappa is the one to go on about the anime but focuses on the fight scenes.

Modoshi sits back and smiles enjoying the positive atmosphere that the compound sometimes lacks. The Boss isn't going to call on Chisaki so much. Chisaki was always very adamant about helping where and when he could so Modoshi hesitantly took him up on that however whenever Chisaki would come across somebody who badmouthed the yakuza he would beat them to a pulp so badly they would be hospitalized in a very detrimental state. He's never really wanted Chisaki to be a part of the yakuza. Now though with Lucy in his life, he has calmed down. Chisaki is slowly beginning to get the life that the boss has always wanted for him and hasn't been laser-focused on the yakuza.

Monday, September 30, 2024

Lucy is beyond bored. Mondays are stupidly slow due to a lack of business. She hasn't had many customers, which has left her with time to clean the place. Some areas she's cleaned twice to keep herself busy because that's how slow it is. Lucy is startled by the sound of her name being called out. She turns around and is met with her smiling boss heading her way.

"Yes, Mrs. Tanaka?"

"How about you take the rest of the evening off dear."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, of course. We can manage just fine."

"Thank you!" Lucy gathers her things and heads up to her apartment. After a shower, she thinks about what she can spend the remainder of the day doing. She's always wanted to visit the Fox Village. She ponders on if she can convince Kai to go. She shoots him a quick text as she picks out what she wants to wear. She settles for a pair of tight-fitting light-colored skinny jeans and a zipper-front blue blouse. She summons Cancer to work on her hair. He doesn't need to do it, but it's always been their bonding time, and since she can't summon them whenever and wherever she wants…

Her phone pings and it's an incoming message from Kai saying he's busy but maybe she could invite her friends to go and let him know when she's home, he'll try to stop by. She lets him know that she'll do that and will see him later. She talks with Cancer about how it might be a good thing. After thinking about it who knows how things would go if a fox got too close or bumped into Kai? She sends her zodiac spirit away and shoots off a text to Fukuzawa and the girls asking them if they would like to go. Unfortunately, they're all occupied with either existing plans or their own responsibilities. She assures them it's okay they can't join her. Lucy decides on her sneakers to wear before grabbing her belongings and heading out the door.

She happily hums to herself and smiles at people greeting her, offering hers in return as she makes her way to the metro. Since she's been out in public during the day more, she's gotten to know the people on the Shie Hassaikai's turf.

When she steps onto the bullet train, she wonders what the dragon slayer's reaction to it would be. If they thought a steam engine that went at 126 mph was bad, then they would be in for an extremely horrible, for them, ride on a bullet train that goes 186 mph. She decides to stand, holding onto an overhead strap to people watch. Just about everyone on the train has their phones out, face buried into it either reading or watching the latest villain that had been taken down, chatting with friends on it, or mindless scrolling. Many of those traveling with friends aren't conversing with each other, they're staring at their phones swiping the screen when needed.

The train stops to drop off and pick up passengers. Despite having moved out of the way, she is still bumped into.

"Crap. Sorry, Miss."

Lucy smiles at the kid and assures him that it's okay. He's about the same height as her, 5'6 and has blond hair with a lightning bolt-shaped streak of black on the left side of his side fringe. She guesses his age to be 14 or 15. Instead of walking away, he stands there gaping at her.

"Is everything all right?"

"You're pretty."

Lucy laughs, "Thanks. So, what's the hurry?"

"Oh!" The kid stands next to her, grabbing an overhead strap, "I'm meeting up with a couple of friends to prepare for the entrance exams to get into U.A."

"Oh? When is that?"

"February. Can't be too prepared though right?"

"No, you can't."

"Where are you going?"

"I'm off to the fox sanctuary."

"Oh, wow I haven't been there in a long time."

Lucy listens as he talks about his experience going there and ensures she's going to love it. She can't but think he sounds awfully familiar. Where has she heard that voice before? The train stops and it appears it's both of their destination.

"Cool! It's my stop. I hope to see you later!"

Lucy's eyes go wide. Jason! It's Jason he sounds like.

"Hey, are you all right miss?"

"Yes, I'm fine." With a wave, Lucy says, "Good luck on your exams!"

"Thanks."

As Lucy walks out of the station, she thinks over all of the different voices of her friends she's heard. The Boss who sounds like Master Makarov, All Might who sounds (and even has the same build) as Elfman. There's Edgeshot who sounds like Freed. There are also a few others she's met over the years that have the same voices as her friends. It's all so uncanny. You would think she would be used to weirdness by now. It interests her that she hasn't heard many voices of her closest friends, save for one.

She hails a taxi down to take her to where she wants to go. She enters the Zao Fox Village after paying the admission 1000-yen fee and is immediately in love with all the furry animals with cute faces. She buys some food for them at 100 yen and throws it. She watches as at least 10 foxes scurry for the food, so she buys more and throws that too. She walks around with the happy foxes she fed who are hoping for more, enjoying the scenery and laughing at the fox's antics. She never knew they were so playful. After about an hour of fun, she heads back home.

Before walking into her home, she texts Kai to let him know she made it back. She cleans herself up and changes into something a little more comfortable, shorts along with the button-up shirt Kai loaned her back in April, which is tied in a knot at the bottom. She sets about making something for dinner, hoping he hasn't already eaten.

She's glad she made a quick simple meal because as soon as it's done there's a knock on her door.

"Coming!" When she opens the door Kai looks her up and down.

"Please tell me you didn't wear that out in public."

Lucy opens the door further to allow him in and closes it behind him. "Hell no."

Kai gives her a quick peck on the lips, "Good." He takes his white sneakers with tan soles off.

Lucy does a double take, "Sneakers? And no socks?"

"Wearing those dress shoes gets uncomfortable wearing them all the time. It is the equivalent of a woman wearing heels all the time." He states as he follows her.

"Okay, I get that, wanting to be comfortable. But no socks? Aren't you worried about your feet getting dirty?"

"Not at all. I'm comfortable here. You keep a clean home."

"Thanks. I hope you're hungry, I made us something to eat."

"And here I was prepared to ask you to go out to dinner with me."

"And where would we go?" Lucy asks, not intending to sound rude. She grabs their plates which Kai takes away from her and sets them on the table.

"There's this restaurant the Shie Hassaikai protects. One word and they'll close it down for everyone but us."

As Lucy grabs the cutlery she asks, "They'd do that?"

"Yup."

They take their respective seats, clap their hands together, bow their heads, and say, "Thank you for the meal".

They make idle chit-chat while they eat. She freezes when he asks, "What was your life like before coming here? You never talk much about it."

She hasn't told him much when it comes to her previous life. The most she talked about that was when they first met. Other than that, it was when something would remind her of a friend that she would bring something up.

Lucy taps a finger to her chin, "It was… adventurous, crazy, and hectic but there were times it was also nice, calm, and peaceful. For the most part. My friends could get really rowdy at times."

Kai pushes his plate to the side so he can rest his elbows on the table, his fingers locked and chin resting atop them. "What were they like?"

"They were the best, most loyal friends anyone could ask for. Even if it did drive me up the wall when they would break into my home, eat all of my food, go through my personal belongings, and not have a care in the world about destroying something of mine."

He looks at her in utter horror and disbelief. "They did what? Did you say anything to them about it? Loyal or not, that's disrespectful as all hell."

"I did, but they didn't listen, but they stopped over time. Natsu though, no matter how many times I kicked, literally kicked him out the window, he still broke back in."

He reminds himself that she told him she and Natsu weren't ever together, they were only best friends. He wonders if there were feelings for the other at some point. He shoots that down and moves on to something else. He doesn't want to ruin their night and decides to ask, "Who was your best girlfriend?"

"Oh wow, that's a difficult question. Hmmm… I would have to say…"

"How about this, if you were to get married who would your maid of honor be?"

Lucy coughs, "What?" She waits for him to say something and when he doesn't, she thinks about that. If she were to get married, who would her maid of honor be?

"I think… I would have to say… it's a toss-up between Erza and Levy. Erza is someone who's been by my side through a lot of things. She's taught me how to fight. Levy, she's the friend I have that shares the same love of books and gaining new knowledge."

"She was the one who helped you translate the ancient language off of that artifact."

Lucy smiles that he remembered, "That's the one."

Kai gets up and starts clearing the table. When Lucy tells him he doesn't have to worry about it he tells her she cooked so he'll help clean up. After everything has been cleaned, twice, they move to the couch. Before Lucy can sit down next to him, he pulls her onto his lap so she's straddling him.

"I couldn't help but notice this is a men's shirt."

"It's the one you lent me back in April."

He begins to unbutton it, "Is that so?" He pushes the shirt off of her body. Unlike last time, she's not wearing a bra. He tries to focus his attention elsewhere for the moment. His eyes roam her revealed body. It tells the story of the warrior she is, protecting those she loves. His fingers trail along one that is right under her breast causing her to shiver. The only scar-free part of her body is her left arm due to him disassembling it to get the bullet out and then reassembling it. He doesn't like thinking about that and goes back to scanning her body which is littered with scars. "I can get rid of these for you."

Lucy has her hands on his shoulders, looking down at him. She shakes her head no, "Thanks, but I keep them as a reminder of the many enemies who attacked my family, and I wasn't strong enough to protect them as well as the others could. They remind me of past mistakes to never make again."

Kai likes that she's not uncomfortable or self-conscious about him seeing the proof of her fights to protect. He's learned though that Lucy isn't like many women, and he loves it. He loves that she is obviously willing to do whatever is needed to be done to protect her family. He loves that she's not one to stand behind others for them to protect her, but instead, she's the one on the front lines.

Here he is contradicting himself yet again. He doesn't like what he refers to as hero syndrome and yet he finds her fierceness and protectiveness wonderful. It could be from knowing the yakuza is like a family to her and her body is evidence of what she'll do for her family and if the yakuza is like her family, then she'll fight hard to defend and protect them. That's exactly the kind of woman he wants and needs by his side. He wraps his arms around her and pulls her against him so he can kiss her. Kai kisses down her neck. A hand tangles in her hair and pulls her head to the side to expose more of her neck.

Lucy unbuttons his shirt, and he lifts his hips up so she can pull it out from under his pants and he moves forward so he can take it off. The lips connect again, and their bare torsos rub against each other.

Kai breaks the kiss and delights in Lucy's gasp when he gets a handful of her breasts. She moans when he pinches and rolls the peak in between his thumb and forefinger. After he's done teasing her his hands roam her body, softly gliding his palms along the softness of her skin. It's difficult for him to keep his hands off of her.

"K-Kai, there's something I need to tell you."

Kai lies them down on the couch so he's in between her legs and he holds her hands above her head. "You can tell me another time." He swoops in and kisses her. He grabs her leg to wrap around him and he rubs her thigh. He groans when her hips thrust up and rub against him, "Fuck." His hand travels up to massage her breast as he kisses down to latch his mouth on the other and when she rolls her hips again, he squeezes it.

Lucy's body is so sensitive she could get off from him playing with her peaks alone. "K-Kai." Lucy's hands roam his slim hard muscular body. Her back arches when he kisses down her neck. "It's important."

"What-" Kai is interrupted by his phone ringing. "Son of a bitch." He sits up and digs for his phone out of his pants pocket. "I got to take this; they wouldn't be calling if it wasn't an emergency."

Lucy grabs the shirt he was wearing and covers herself up. She tries to not listen in on the conversation but Jiji wouldn't be calling if it wasn't super important.

Kai huffs, "Fine I'll be there in a little bit." He hangs up the phone and turns to Lucy. "I'm sorry."

"It's okay."

Kai grabs his shirt, the one she was wearing. Her scent is all over it. "It's not, you-"

"I knew what I was getting myself into by agreeing to be in a relationship with you." Which is exactly the same thing she said last time they were in this position. Lucy sticks her foot out and nudges him along with her toes, "Now go."

Kai gives her one last kiss. "I'll call you."

"Alright." She watches him put on his shoes and leaves. She flops her head on the back of the couch. "I hope you won't be too mad when I can finally tell you."

Lucy running into Denki Kaminari on her travels to the fox village was not planned. He just showed up out of nowhere and it worked out that he shares the same English voice actor, Kyle Phillips, as Jason. Coooool!

As I stated before, I'm sticking with the MHA timeline. That being said, does anyone have a guestimate on when Eri showed up at The Boss's door? The Shie Hassaikai Arc is a year from now.
