Megan was bouncing on her heels in excitement as they stood in the elevator as it went down to reception, watched by an amused Kevin. "We're just about to see New York!" She squealed.

Kevin sent her an amused look. "I know; I can't believe it either." It was one thing to arrive, by accident, in New York, but to take in the idea was something new. "Any idea what you want to see or do first?"

When they had checked in, the McCallisters had just come from a shopping spree to get themselves new clothes as their luggage wasn't with them, but they had seen a few of the sights of the city. Today they weren't just doing some Christmas Shopping, they were going to explore the city for the day. The only thing marring their plans was what happened last night in their hotel room and when they'd walked into the suite for the first time when that idiot Cedric had gone into their bags.

Megan had gotten a good look at the man who'd come in, and they were both worried the hotel staff would do something else. But they weren't going to let that worry them, they weren't going to spend their time in New York worrying about such things.

Megan scrunched up her face in thought. "No," she said at last, "how about we just go out, have fun, do some shopping? We can ask our limo driver if there's anything good to see and do."

"Sounds good to me," Kevin grinned, just as the doors opened, and the siblings barely stepped out, when-.

"Miss and Mr. McCallister," someone called, and they saw a dark-haired man, wearing a smart suit with a grey cravat and waistcoat calling out to them from a desk, where another customer of the hotel was standing, and he said something to them before hurrying over to the siblings.

Kevin glanced at Megan and pulled gently on her cuff. "Is that the guy you saw?"

Megan glanced down at her brother and caught the look. She nodded. "That's the same guy from last night. I think he might be a hotel manager or the concierge," she said quietly, but she wasn't able to say anything more, because the manager or concierge was right in front of them.

"And how are we this morning?" He asked with a smile he probably assumed was friendly, but it came off as creepy.

Megan raised a brow. She didn't like this man. She didn't care who he was, what he was here. She didn't like him, or his attitude. And she had a horrible sinking feeling he was onto them without thinking that Megan had made up her mind to try to reach the Miami police and have them contact their family in Florida, and let them know where they were and that they were perfectly okay, or was suspicious about them, and she knew that he was the one who'd gotten that idiot Cedric to poke his nose into their stuff yesterday.

What worried her the most was this man was suspicious about them even if she was old enough to look after herself, and her brother, and she wondered why he was suspicious about them at all.

But what she didn't like was the creepy way he spoke down to them like they were a few years old. Megan was a teenager. She was going to go to college, she had worked hard for it, and she wasn't going to let anyone ruin it for her. But if she didn't like it, then she could only guess how Kevin felt. Kevin hated it whenever he was patronised.

"We're both doing fine, thanks," Megan spoke up before Kevin put his foot in.

"Is our transportation here?" Kevin asked, his tone calm, and Megan glanced down at her little brother, but Kevin's face was placid and his expression told her nothing.

If the hotel manager/concierge was disappointed he wasn't able to get anything else out of them, he didn't show it. "Out in front, sir, ma'am," he replied, "A limousine and two pizzas. Compliments of the Plaza Hotel."

Megan and Kevin smiled at each other. They had decided to travel in style today, although truthfully…Megan wasn't entirely sure about the limo part, she had a horrible feeling their dad wouldn't forgive them for the amount they were spending. Ah, well, you only live once.

Kevin really didn't care about their father's feelings, as far as he was concerned a vacation was for fun, and there hadn't been any fun as far as he could see in Florida.

The siblings were snapped out of their separate musings when the hotel/manager went on. "I do hope your father understands that last night…," he began awkwardly, looking contrite although Megan wasn't sure she believed it, "...I was simply checking to see that everything was in order."

Kevin and Megan were a little surprised by how brazenly he admitted what he had been doing. But they knew he was lying in some parts. "Oh, he was pretty mad," Kevin said.

"He was?"

Seeing a chance to get some revenge and hoping it got the man off of their backs for a bit, Megan joined in, "Oh, he was," she said.

"He said he didn't come here to have his naked rear spied on," Kevin's voice was so serious that Megan almost had to laugh.

The expression on the hotel manager/concierge's face was really worried and awkward. "Of course not. Will he be down soon?"

"No," Megan shook her head.

"He's already left," Kevin added.

"He left early to attend some important meeting," Megan remembered what she and Kevin had said when they'd checked in and decided to remind the man about that. "But he'll be back later."

"I would've liked to have offered my personal apology."

Knowing if he pushed it then he'd have even more reason to call the cops, the siblings were quick to stop it. "Mm, I'm not sure he'd want that," Megan lowered her voice as if sharing a dirty secret or piece of gossip with her sisters or friends, "Our Dad didn't reach the top being nice to people who annoyed him," she smiled, although it came off as more of a leer, or a smirk.

"If a guy saw you in the shower, would you want to see him?" Kevin asked pointedly.

"I suppose not."

"Exactly," Megan nodded solemnly.

"I don't think you'll see him again," Kevin went on.

Megan sent Kevin a sharp look. What the fuck are you doing? Are you trying to give him more reason to be suspicious?

"I understand," the hotel manager/concierge replied.

Megan was now bored out of her mind with this conversation. He didn't believe them. They knew he wasn't being sincere, and there was a whole day to explore New York. That was more important than this. "Well, it was lovely speaking to you, but we really do have to go. There's so much more to see of the city, and my brother and I would like to see much more of it before Christmas Day dawns," she said, trying to quell the pang of sadness in her chest as she thought about Christmas Day without her family; she loved Kevin, she just wished their parents were here.

"Yes, bye," Kevin added.

The two siblings had barely walked five feet away when they heard his final call. "Have a lovely day."

"God, he's persistent," Megan hissed when they were out of earshot.

"Yeah, tell me about it," Kevin said.

"Why did you say that about our dad not seeing that guy again?" Megan demanded. "Were you trying to make him suspicious?"

"It wasn't deliberate. Do you think he'll go into our suite again?"

"Don't jinx it. In fact, after that little conversation, I'm definitely going to call Miami today," Megan said certainly.

Kevin nodded in resignation. Megan had explained about her plan earlier this morning, and while he didn't like it, he had to admit it was a good idea especially after last night, and now this had clinched it in her mind. If there was one thing he knew about his eldest sister, it was when she had made up her mind, little could change it.

"Good morning, Mr. McCallister and Miss McCallister," the doorman greeted them while touching his hat as they stepped out onto the cold Manhattan street.

"Good morning," Megan smiled at the man who seemed so genuine.

"Good Morning," Kevin echoed before they saw the long limo right in front of the doors, dominating the whole space. Cedric was there with the driver, who opened the door for them. "Miss and Mr. McCallister, here are your pizzas," he held up the boxes.

A little while later, while they were watching the Grinch on the limo's ultra-tiny TV screen, eating their pizzas. They were just going for a ride for the time being, while they made their plans. They'd told the driver about their plans, and he was more than happy to show them some of the sights and see what caught their interest.

Megan was eating her pizza with relish. "Mmm," she grinned at Kevin, "this is a great pizza. Say whatever you'd like about the staff at that place, they know quality."

"Yep," Kevin said through a mouthful of cheese pizza.

"I could get used to this," Megan went on before conspiratorially leaning closer to Kevin, knowing he would understand. Out of all of their family, Kevin was the one who believed they should flaunt their wealth the most even if their parents frowned on that, although they weren't exactly saints themselves. "Maybe I should steal my dad's credit cards more often."

Kevin almost choked on his pizza in reply. "I'm a bad influence on you!" He goggled wide-eyed and open-mouthed at her.

Megan chuckled. "Nice try, Kev, but I can tell you don't mean it."

"Damn, you saw through my plan to corrupt you!" Kevin said, putting his pizza-filled hand to his chest dramatically.

Megan giggled.

"So, what do you want to do first?"

Megan bit her lip. "How about we take it in turns?" She suggested.

"Sounds good," Kevin replied, "Who's first?"

"How about you take it first?" Megan suggested.

"Are you sure?" Kevin asked.

"Yes, why?" Megan blinked in curiosity.

"It's just…well, I thought that you'd want to suggest something first," Kevin said awkwardly.

Megan smiled as she realised what he was saying. "Kevin, it will take me all day to see the things I want. With you, it won't take more than a couple of hours."

"Oh, right," Kevin nodded before he worked out what she was saying, and he side-eyed her, realising he'd been insulted, and she giggled. Shaking his head and rolling her eyes, Kevin picked up the phone and called the driver.

"Hello?"

"Hello?" The driver replied. (Megan wondered why the phone was even here since it was clear he could hear them.)

"Know any good toy stores?"

"Yes, sir."
