"AHHH, it's you, the kid from last night."
"Who the fuck do you call kid?" - he grumbles annoyingly.
"Yep, this is that mtf!"
"How come you are so big and tall overnight?" - she blinks repeatedly, eyeing the boy's body and the length of his legs despite his crouching position.
"Hn…I'm always this big and this tall." - the "kid" looks past her toward the direction she was looking at a moment ago - "Why are you hiding from him?"
"Huh? What? Hiding from who?" - her mind is still so preoccupied with the boy in front that she forgets why she was standing in the bushes in the first place.
Loading…
"You are dumber than you look," - the boy murmurs before standing up and leaving in the other direction of the hospital.
Loading….
"Heh? What the fuck he just said? Who the fuck he thinks he is? Dumber…me…I'm his fucking savior, damn it!"
"YA! How dare you call your savior "dumb"? Who do you think you are? Huh? If I leave you in that alley last night, you will be dead by now! YAAAAA." - Kira yells loudly from behind the bushes with all her might, grabbing the attention of many bystanders and successfully halting the boy's footsteps.
"Tsk, lower your voice, will you?" - his deadly, cold stare and darkened expression shut her up immediately. She instinctively takes a few steps back, pushing herself further into the shadow. She knows this feeling.
She may suck at studying and too easily distracted at times, but she is still a professionally trained assassin. Not many people can startle her like this boy did earlier. He was so quiet that she could not pick up his footsteps. Also, the fact that he was fighting with a bunch of professionally trained thugs last night stands out to Kira like a sore thumb. She concludes he must be a part of the Shadow world, part of her world.
"Who are you?" - her voice lowers, getting into an attacking position.
"Oh.." - the boy glances at her stance, turning himself to face her. His smirk widens while casually tucking his hands into his trousers - "Guess you are not so dumb after all."
After the longest and most uncomfortable pause as they carefully assess each other, the boy breaks the silence first.
"What is your name?" - the boy smiles, tilting his head and looking at her amusingly as if he just figured something out.
"Who the fuck do you call kid? I'm a high schooler already!" - her nostril flares in pride - "I'm an adult!"
"Oh? I'm a senior this year." - the boy's smirk remains, but it definitely is getting wider as the conversation continues.
"Senior? Hm…must be middle school senior." - Kira chuckles, still thinking she is 100% older than him.
"I'm a senior at Tsuji Private High School" - like he reads her mind.
"What? Tsuji Private High School?" - she is dumbfounded - "Maybe there is another High School with the same name. Hm…That must be. Tokyo is huge, Kira!"
Realizing that all her assumptions about the boy in front of her may have been wrong, she comes to her final conclusion: this boy is bad news, and nothing good will come from associating with him any longer.
"Um…Um… Ai ya, my stomach hurts, I must have eaten something bad at school, I need to go!" - Kira makes a quick excuse while finding her way out of the bushes.
"Oi," - the boy grabs her wrist, his smirk remains, and damn Kira wants to slap it off his face - "I'm Gojo Satoru, by the way, what is your name?"
"Gojo? One of the 3 Great Yakuza clans? SEEEEE! This MTF is bad news! Shit….I should not be seen associated with him or Father will…" - the sheer last name sends chills down her spine. She swallows hard.
Satoru waits patiently. He shows no sign of letting her hand go before hearing the answer.
"Hyuuga,..Kira," - she slurs on purpose, struggling to get out of the iron grip - "Now let go!"
"Can't hear you." - he signals toward his ear playfully.
"Tsk…Hyuuga Kira, happy?" - she finally gives in after struggling in vain.
"Ah" - he releases at once, making her stumble back a few steps and landing on her butt - "Hyuuga, huh?"
"Ouch…YA! Asshole!" - she yells, rubbing her butt cheeks.
He glances at her one last time before walking toward the hospital's side windows, which Kira assumes he came through earlier. With one swift movement, he climbs back inside easily despite the height being over 2 meters.
"Hey, aren't you heading in the other direction?" - Kira asks, rubbing her wrist.
He leans on the windows, waving a pack of cigarettes at her before leaving without saying a single word.
"Kids shouldn't smoke! Plus, you are injured! Throw that away!"
"None of your business. Go home, kid, before people see you with me." - he smirks one last time and disappears.
"Ya!" - she yells. Knowing his name and his clan now, Kira cannot curse him out loud casually. Yakuza has enemies whose eyes and ears are everywhere. Calling his name out loud is suicidal. People always say that blades and guns don't have eyes, the same principle applies to Yakuza. They would kill first and investigate later. Associating with a big name like Gojo only brings harm - "Guess what, why do I have to care for such an asshole! But I will be the bigger person and cover for you this time, asshole!"
She shakes her head, thinking all her efforts today were in vain because of such an asshole. In the end, she cannot blame anyone but herself for worrying about someone else's business when she was clearly taught not to by her Father and the Assassin Association.
She looks back at where Satoru stood a moment ago. Her eyes widen, and panic rises as cold sweats cover her forehead.
There it is, a huge floating black shadow with one big eye staring directly at her. It is inches away.
As if it can smell her fear, the shadow emits a weird noise like laughing and launches itself at Kira with a bullet-fast speed.
She has no time to react before the shadow engulfs her whole.
"Fuck, I was too careless!" - tears prick at the corner of her eyes as she struggles to breathe. She is drowning. There is nasty liquid in her mouth, nose, ear, everywhere. She wants to scream, but she fears only more will rush into her body. She makes a mistake; she lets her guard down. Her Father is right; she is useless. She cannot even protect herself, and now she is paying the price.
"I'm going to die tonight." - the shadow feeds on her fear, laughing louder, making the liquid surrounding her vibrate.
As Kira is struggling for her life, normal people are still casually strolling past her on the street, completely unnoticed that someone is being devoured by a gigantic shadow monster.
She chokes as air slowly drains from her lungs, and her vision blurs.
"Oi" - as she is losing hope and the will to break free, an annoying voice from Satoru, who she just cursed a moment ago, is what saves her life. With a single word, Kira can feel an immense vibration as the horrific joyful laugh of the shadow is replaced with shrieks in pain before exploding into fine dust.
Kira falls on her knee, vomiting all the dark substances that fill her throat and nose while trying to catch her breath at the same time.
After she finally regains control over her breathing and body, she runs straight into the very well-lit and busy street and goes straight home despite the weakness in both legs. She pushes herself to run and doesn't dare to look up at the windows to confirm if it is indeed Satoru who saved her. She cannot care less. She has seen enough and experienced enough tonight.
But even if she decided to look, she would be disappointed because no one was there.
Later that night, as she curls in bed, unable to sleep, her mind wanders back to the incident at the hospital.
"Why did he return? And on top of that, at such a crucial moment to save me. Hm…Is there a chance that he sees what I see, too? Also, his voice alone destroys the thing. Or did he do something? Maybe this is a Gojo clan's power? I need to find him and confirm again! Maybe there is a cure, and I can make Father proud."
With the set determination in mind, sleep slowly claims her thoughts. Before she blacks out, an old conversation she heard between Father and Natsume reaches the surface.
The Gojo clan only has one son, and rumor has it he is very special.
"Where were you?" - the white-hair man with a flawless white suit and tie puts his unfinished cigarette down and looks at the guard standing by the door. The guard's face is as white as a sheet of paper.
"I went for a smoke" - Satoru calmly closes the door behind him, he knows what comes next - "I hope these doors are soundproof."
BANG…THUD…
The force of the bullet pushes the guard against the door, causing a loud thud before his lifeless body slides down heavily, leaving a trail of blood on the perfect white door.
"Tsk. Useless trash. Clean it up," - the white-hair man put the gun back on the strap on his chest - "How is the wound, son?"
"Minor" - he wipes a few drops of blood stick to his face.
"Good. Once it heals, finish the job, got it?" - the man looks at Satoru through his sunglasses, his voice is so low that it almost resembles a growl.
"Ah" - Satoru nods and bowls as the man exits the room.
"I'm leaving for the States tomorrow. If anything, tell the butler. Don't go around without a guard."
"Ah"
Tokyo Hospital Hallway, Seventh Floor
"Why does our hospital accept Yakuza patients?" - a nurse asks shakily, cursing what is her luck to run into a Yakuza shooting on her first day of work.
"It's the Gojo clan, our hospital exists because of them," - a senior nurse explains - "This whole floor is specifically built for them. If I'm not mistaken, in your application, you specifically list that you want "exotic experience." This is the perfect place for that."
"I did not mean this type of exotic experience, Head Nurse!" - she cries in silence.
"Shhhh!" - the Head Nurse signals the junior nurse to shut up while showing off her best customer service smile, which deserves national recognition - "Thank you for stopping by, Gojo-sama. I hope you find everything to your liking. We will make sure to take excellent care of your family."
The white-hair man does not even spare a glance at the Head Nurse and walks past them like they are nothing.
"Handsome asshole!" - the Head Nurse curses after making sure the elevator is closed.
"Kami-sama! WHYYYYY?" - the new nurse screams internally.
Notes: Hi all my lovely readers! My sincere apologies for the super duper late update! I will have to delay my update to biweekly or monthly for now because I just lost all my writing for this story and my other stories. The reason is the platform that I have been writing on had an update and a glitch occurred resulting in many people losing their work, including me! I have been troubleshooting with the developer for the past few weeks but it did not go anywhere. Hence, I have to rewrite a lot of chapters TT^TT.
Thank you in advance for your patience and support during my rewrite period. I will try my best to update more regularly once I have all my drafts done! As always, feel free to leave a comment or just say hi! Happy readings!
