Earlier in U.A. Academy...
Midoriya and everyone else walked over to their respective classrooms. Adrien and Chloe enjoyed them, but soon went to their own private classroom. Chloe gave him Bakugo a kiss on the cheek and left with Adrien. Some of their classmates gave Bakugo knowing looks, but he waved it off like it was nothing. Midoriya's noticed how comfortable Bakugo is with Chloe.
They've been dating over six months now, he could that things between them were pretty good. They still hero trained together and even studied together along with Kirishima at times. Chloe even seemed to like hanging out with Ashido and Yaoyorozu sometimes. He could tell that Chloe was finally settling down even when things were a little tough here.
Adrien on the other hand seemed to be thrown off a bit by Summer camp. Chloe did too, but Midoriya could tell that he took it a bit hard. Something about it seemed to bother him for some reason. Midoriya hoped that it had nothing to do with what Plagg said. Cat Noir relying on Ladybug all the time must've worn on him a bit.
"Izuku? Are you okay?" Uraraka asked him.
"Huh? Oh, yeah," Midoriya said back, "It's just... Adrien does seem a bit down about Marinette not being here. Do you think it's true about Cat Noir? That he relies too much on Ladybug?"
"Don't listen to Plagg," Uraraka said to him, "His Kwami is always talking about things that don't even matter."
Midoriya looked back at where Adrien was and wondered if it was true. When they first met, he did seem to lean on her at times. She seemed to carry their team way more than he ever did. It always seemed like her team, not theirs.
"I'm just saying," Midoriya said to them, "He might need a different kind of training with AllMight. Like being a team leader or something or something that will boost him up a bit."
"Look Midoriya. I know what you're getting at, but you need to let AllMight handle this," Iida told him, "This isn't something that you need to worry about. Adrien will figure this out on his own. He's smarter than he looks, especially in combat. We need to let them handle things on their own."
Midoriya let out a sigh, knowing full well that they were both right. He just wished that Marinette was here to talk some sense into him.
"You're right. I just need to know when to back off a little," Midoriya said to them.
Uraraka gave them a look that told him that he'll end up doing anyway at some point. They all soon entered the classroom and all got in their respective seats. Then Midoriya noticed that Mineta wasn't sitting in his seat. Usually he sat behind him. No one knew where he was.
Before Midoriya could say anything, Mr. Aizawa came into the classroom with no sign of Mineta. Midoriya got worried about what happened and wondered where Mineta was. Mr. Aizawa looked a little annoyed, but soon shook it off as he faced his classroom of students.
"Everyone. I have an announcement to make in regards of Minoru Mineta," Mr. Aizawa announced to his class, "After what happened during Summer camp, I have no choice but to expel him for his... inappropriate behavior."
Midoriya and everyone else were shocked to hear this, but not really. They just didn't expect this to actually happen to him. He thought that Midoriya would get detention or maybe house arrested for his inappropriate behavior.
"Mr. Aizawa, are you serious? We don't have to deal with Mineta anymore?" Yaoyorozu asked, clearly the one that was the most bothered by him at the moment.
"Yes. He won't be coming to this school anymore," Mr. Aizawa announced.
All of the girls cheered as they stood up from their seats. Mr. Aizawa used his quirk, making them sit down in their seats. Soon enough, Mr. Aizawa turned off his quirk to continue on with this announcement.
"Minoru Mineta may be gone from this school, but that means we have a spot empty," Mr. Aizawa told them, "U.A. has found a recommended student that will be replacing him. I know it's a bit weird to bring in a student this late into the second year, but this will be a great opportunity for Class 1-A to have a new hero in training around. Welcome them here with respect and treat them like you would with any other student."
"Yes sir!" Class 2-A said in unison.
Midoriya and everyone else soon noticed the door slide open as someone came into their classroom. It was a girl with dark indigo hair with red streaks in her bangs. It was pulled back into a cute hair clip, but still had her bangs around her eyes. Her eyes looked like so sparkly and blue that something about it was really mesmerizing.
Something about her caught Midoriya's attention. She reminded him of Marinette with her blue hair and blue eyes. He could tell that she wasn't from around here. She even wore bracelet that glinted in the light. Something about her bracelet seemed a bit familiar to him. It felt like something he should know about, but had never seen it before. She looked excited to be here, which got everyone wondering about her and her quirk.
"Everyone. This is Skylar Garnier," Mr. Aizawa announced to them, "She's been recommended because of her quirk. There's no need for her to show anyone her quirk at the moment. Right now, I just want her to settle down and get to know everyone. Show her around, and she will be settling into the Class 2-A dormitory soon enough."
"Hi!" Skylar exclaimed a little too loudly, "It's so nice to finally meet everyone here at U.A.! Especially Class 2-A! I've heard some amazing things about all of you!"
No one really knew how to respond to her, but she was soon directed over to the desk behind Midoriya. He felt a little uncomfortable having this random girl sitting behind him. Something about her seemed a little familiar or at least felt like he should know her from somewhere. He didn't know or understand why, but he could tell that he must've ran into her at some point.
He tried to get a glimpse of her as she put her backpack down to grab some of her things. She grabbed a cute looking notebook and a couple of pencils that had cute animal erasers on them. He could tell that she was a bit like Ashido and Hagakure already just based on the stuff she had. Then she locked eyes with him, and he instinctively looked away from her. He felt his face heat up a little, hoping that he didn't get her attention.
Then he felt a tap on his shoulder.
Midoriya turned around to see her face smiling at him. Her smile reminded him of Marinette as she got close to him.
"Hi. You must be Izuku Midoriya," Skylar whispered to him, "I've heard so much about you."
Midoriya was surprised that she knew about him. Then again, he was broadcasted at the Sports Festival. She could've just been a fan of his.
"Y-You've heard of me?" Midoriya whispered back.
"Of course. You're pretty popular when it comes to U.A.," Skylar explained to him, "I was actually looking forward to meeting you the most. You're pretty strong with your quirk. It's pretty impressive to watch."
Midoriya felt his face warm up from embarrassment, but tried to brush it off like it was nothing.
"U-Umm... Th-Thank you," Midoriya said, a little flustered, "B-But you should know that Mr. Aizawa doesn't like anyone talking during class. He can be a bit--"
"Midoriya," Mr. Aizawa interrupted with his quirk activated, "What did I tell you about talking during class?"
"Y-Yes sir. I was just introducing myself to Skylar here," Midoriya explained to him as he sat upright.
Mr. Aizawa didn't say anything more, but Midoriya knew to stay quiet and focus on his school work. He turned around to grab his notebooks, but realized that he forgot to grab a few pencils from his desk in his dorm room. Then he noticed Skylar sneak a cute pencil towards him for him to take. He noticed her bracelet dangling from her wrist. It looked silver but had a blue crystal on it. Without looking at her, he took it and her whisper:
"You're welcome. We should talk later."
Midoriya felt a little embarrassed to be using a pencil with a kitty as an eraser. He tried to ignore it and was glad that she gave it to him to help him out. He could tell that she was at least nice and not annoying in any way. He still felt weird about her and felt his quirk acting up a bit around her for some reason. Something about his quirk felt like a spark was lighting up, but he tried to ignore it.
Midoriya soon focused on taking notes, not even noticing what was going on with One for All.
In Collège Françoise Dupont...
After classes, everyone got up to go to the cafeteria. Sabrina tried to invite Ember over to sit with her and her friends, but she declined. Marinette could tell that she wasn't exactly one to have a lot of friends. Something about made her feel bad, and she could tell that she wasn't prepared anything of this. She didn't even have a backpack, pencils and notebooks.
Marinette could tell that she was forced to go here by her parents. She frowned and looked down at her macarons and cookies. Alya gave her a wave over to Ember and walked out of the classroom to give her space. Marinette took a deep breath in and out and walked over to Ember. She looked like she was trying to avoid having lunch with a bunch of new classmates.
It was just her and Ember in the classroom.
Marinette walked up to her, and Ember noticed her right away. She smiled at her, and Ember didn't say anything.
"Hi. Welcome to Collège Françoise Dupont," Marinette said to her, "I know that things must be weird going to a new school and everything, but I wouldn't mind showing you around. I might be less awkward to have someone to guide you. It can be a pretty big school to navigate all by yourself."
Ember looked at her box of macarons and cookies, and her stomach growled. Her face blushed, and Marinette couldn't help but laugh a little. Ember felt a little embarrassed, but tried to wave it off. She looked a little okay with talking to Marinette, but was still shy.
"You didn't tell me your name," Ember said to her.
"Oh! Silly me. I'm Marinette Dupain Cheng," Marinette introduced, "I hope that we can be friends. You can even come sit with me and my friend Alya."
Ember spotted Alya in the background, and she waved at her with a friendly smile. Marinette could tell that Ember was a little hesitant to join them. Something about her was a little nervous to come with them. For a moment, Ember looked a little nervous to even leave the classroom. Marinette felt bad for her and opened up the box of macarons and cookies. She smiled and passed it over to her.
"Pick any macaron or cookie you'd like," Marinette said back, "I want you to feel welcome here. I know things are awkward right now, but I wanna help you out. As Class Rep., I should look out for my classmates and make them feel comfortable here."
Something about that caught Ember's attention. Marinette watched her hesitate to pick a cookie, but soon grabbed one that had ladybug spots on it. Marinette smiled as Ember ate it, and her eyes lit up. She knew that Ember would like them, everyone likes her mom and dad's cookies. Ember looked up at her, and Marinette could tell that she was trying to not make this a big deal.
"I guess... I could sit with you," Ember said to her, "I just... I just any money to get lunch..."
"That's okay. Me and Alya can split it," Marinette explained to her, "We don't mind. Do we Alya?"
"No. Of course not," Alya said back as she walked over to Marinette, "We're friendly. Don't worry about it. Besides, you're lucky to come here at a great time. There's no drama going on at this school anymore."
Ember seemed to feel a little better once Alya explained things. Marinette and Alya soon left the classroom with Ember behind her. She was still nervous to be here, but they tried to talk to her. They showed her where the cafeteria was and soon grabbed some lunch for each other. Alya and Marinette agreed to split the money for Ember to get something to eat. She ended up grabbing a blt sandwich, chips, and a fruit cup. She even grabbed a water bottle. Marinette and Alya smiled, happy to help out.
They all sat with Nino who was talking to Kim from a different table. Once they sat down, Nino quickly noticed the new girl sitting with them.
"Hey Alya!" Nino exclaimed to them, "So, we have the new girl here sitting with us today?"
"Yep. She's a little nervous though," Alya said to him a little quieter, "Please be patient with her."
"Sure. I can do that," Nino said to her.
They all sat together as Marinette sat next to Ember. Usually Adrien would sit with them, but today was the first day without him around. Marinette felt a little upset for a moment and pulled out her phone. She didn't have any messages recently which made her a little upset. She knew that Adrien was busy. School over there was different and more tough on them. She knew that she could talk to him after school.
"Girl. Put your phone down and enjoy some lunch," Alya said to her, "Adrien will call you later."
That seemed to catch Ember's attention as she picked up her blt sandwich.
"Who's Adrien?" Ember asked Marinette, "Is he your boyfriend or something?"
Marinette for once wasn't flustered, but she was a little nervous talking to this new girl about him. She had no idea what was going on around here, or at least she thought maybe she didn't. Marinette didn't even know if she knew about Ladybug, Cat Noir or those exchange students that showed up out of no where.
"Y-Yeah. He's my boyfriend," Marinette said to her, "He's going to a boarding school overseas. I haven't been able to talk to him for a little while. I'm just worried about him is all."
"And by a little while, she means a few hours," Alya said to Ember with a wink.
Ember actually laughed a little, which caught Marinette's attention.
"Alya. You didn't need to tell her that," Marinette said back, "Now she's going to think that I stalk him all the time."
"But you did. It's not a secret here," Alya said to her, then turned to Ember, "She used to stalk him all the time before they were together. She even had his schedule written down in her room."
"Alya! She doesn't need to know that," Marinette said to her friend, "He was actually a famous fashion model. I was kind of one of his fans... but it wasn't that bad. I swear."
Ember gave her a look, and Marinette knew that she wasn't buying it. Something about her seemed to know about Adrien just based on her reaction. She didn't say anything, but Marinette could tell that she was somewhat familiar with what was going on. She ate some of her sandwich and kept quiet for a moment.
"So what's this thing you were talking earlier?" Ember asked her, "There were a couple of mean girls or something in this school?"
"Oh Yeah. There were a couple of mean girls around here, but they left about six months ago," Alya explained to her, "Chloe was... a hand full back then."
"But she's different now," Marinette said back, "She's actually a lot nicer and very friendly. I'd say that I even kind of miss her a little now."
Ember didn't say anything, but Marinette wondered what she was thinking about. Something about it seemed to bother her a little bit, but they moved on to Lila.
"Lila however was a completely different story," Alya said back, "She was always lying all the time just to get attention. I'll admit, I fell for it at times. Even Nino here fell for it as well."
"Yeah, she was a bit much sometimes as well," Nino said to her.
"Lila was a bit different compared to Chloe, but things have changed with her," Marinette explained to Ember, "The last time I heard anything from her, she was applying to an art school somewhere in Paris. She's finally doing things that she actually cares about rather lying all the time. If anything, I'm kind of proud of her for pursuing it."
Marinette couldn't help smile, remembering hearing from Midoriya. He sounded so happy to be talking about Lila recently. He seemed really happy to hear from her. She didn't really talk to Lila just because she didn't want to make things awkward, but she was glad that him and Yaoyorozu kept touch with her.
"Mean girls don't deserve second chances..." Ember said under her breath.
Marinette caught that and wondered what that meant to someone like Ember. She ate more of her lunch, but barely looked at Marinette and Alya. Even Nino didn't know what to make of this. Marinette hoped that she didn't have any run ins with mean girls before coming here. Something told her that she has though. She ate some more, but Ember decided to put it to the side.
"Thank you for lunch, but I'm very hungry anymore," Ember said quietly.
Before they stop her, Ember left the cafeteria. Marinette felt bad for her, and her and Alya shared a look. They hoped that it was nothing serious. Marinette wanted to run after, but knew that she would just make things worse. She ate her lunch and felt like she needed to help Ember out through something.
She didn't know why, but she knew that Ember needed a friend.
Another amazing chapter!
Two new classmates at the same time?! What does this mean?! Ember and Skylar? Who are they? I'm excited to see where this goes! I don't mind these characters already! I'm kind of excited to see where things go with these characters! I'm already kind of adoring Skylar for some reason. I just like that she's similar to Ashido, but will still be slightly different. Ember will be shy and a little awkward while Skylar is outgoing and excited to meet new friends! Also, Mineta being expelled I thought was funny. I wonder what happened during Summer camp. I don't know if it'll go into it, but I think it's funny to not know exactly what happened.
This'll be interesting!
What's going to happen next??
More to come soon!
