Earlier in Gym Gamma...
Cat Noir's eyes widened in shock, seeing the new girl perform a move similar to someone he knew. She settled down, looking a little excited that she managed to pull it off. He looked over at everyone else, and they all looked at Midoriya and then at Skylar. Something about Skylar's quirk was way too similar to Midoriya's that it threw everyone off. Even AllMight was a little speechless seeing Skylar power up and slam her fist onto the ground.
"Whoa... Is it just me, or is Skylar's quirk similar to Midoriya's?" Kaminari asked them.
Cat Noir looked at Midoriya, and he looked a little bit thrown off by the whole thing. Something about her seemed so different when they were talking, and now she seem a lot stronger than they expected. He could tell that Midoriya was expecting her to have a quirk more flashy than a physical quirk. She seemed to be more interested in showing Midoriya what she could do as she faced everyone.
"Young Garnier. That was amazing," AllMight complimented, "Can you explain exactly what your quirk is? You said it's Power Absorption, right?"
"Yes. It's kind of more complicated than it looks," Skylar explained, "My quirk is pretty strong, so I try to keep it contained until I need to use it. It can allow me to absorb energy around anyone that I come into contact with."
Everyone gave her a nervous look, especially everyone that hung out with her. Even Midoriya and Cat Noir were a little nervous to be near her. Adrien could tell that things were going to be a little awkward between her and Class 2-A for a while.
"I can't really control it, but I promise that it doesn't effect anyone. It just takes a tiny bit of it so you'll barely notice it," Skylar said to them, "Then I can use that energy to power up and use it as a special move. I'm kind of inspired by Izuku's quirk when I watched him during the Sports Festival."
Cat Noir noticed Midoriya get a little flustered as everyone kept staring at him. Midoriya didn't know what to say, but soon spoke up.
"I-I h-had no idea that your quirk was a power type," Midoriya said, still thrown off.
"Yeah. My quirk is specific, but I'd say it's been improving a lot lately. That's why I was recommended to this school," Skylar explained to them, "Mr. Aizawa, I hope this doesn't ruin anyone's improvements. I don't wanna get in anyone's way since my quirk is a little unpredictable."
"As long as your quirk not getting in the way of anyone's studies, then I think it will be okay," Mr. Aizawa said back, "Besides, it looks like you and Midoriya have to work harder now that we have another power type. Anyone else, don't take this as an opportunity to be slacking."
"Yes sir!" Class 2-A and M said in unison.
Cat Noir noticed Midoriya looking a little thrown off by Skylar's quirk. Something about it felt little weird to him. He looked at Skylar and noticed that she looked like she was holding back, which scared him a little. He hoped that he was wrong about her.
"Alright everyone. Since Skylar is new here, Midoriya. I want you to help her out with hero training for tonight," Mr. Aizawa told him, "Since your quirk is somewhat similar to hers, I want you to make sure she improves on controlling it better."
Cat Noir noticed Midoriya looking a little nervous, and so did AllMight. He whispered something to Mr. Aizawa, but clearly things didn't change. Mr. Aizawa still wanted him to help out with Skylar. Cat Noir could tell that AllMight was worried about One for All around Skylar. He never even thought about that once Skylar used her quirk.
"Alright everyone. Get started on improving your quirks and Miraculous," Mr. Aizawa said to them, "You're allowed to team up like Midoriya and Skylar. Just two at a time for tonight."
Cat Noir noticed Midoriya looking a little nervous helping out Skylar. He wanted to help out, but let him hero train with Skylar just for tonight. Cat Noir teamed up with Ashido who was more than happy to help out. Queen Bee teamed up with Bakugo, which wasn't surprising. Cat Noir picked a spot to hero train with Ashido, and they both got ready.
Once they got ready, Ashido was already sliding around on her boots that shot out acid. Cat Noir tried to focus on Ashido and grabbed his baton. He dodged her as she threw acid at him. He flipped backwards and landed on all fours. Now that he had upgrades, he had gauntlets that helped him out with his combat skills. It gave him more ability to switch cataclysm from one hand to another if he needed to. It even had extended nails that helped him grip better onto buildings or anything that he needed to climb.
"Cataclysm!" Cat Noir called out, activating his power.
"Now? Really?" Ashido pointed out, "Okay, but you're going to regret it."
Cat Noir launched at her, but she was easily able to dodge him with a break dance move and flipped around to get away from him. Cat Noir was shocked to see her moving around so easily and forgot that she was great dancer. He wanted to be careful with his cataclysm, but knew that she was using that against him. He launched at her, but noticed Skylar in the corner of his eye.
Something about her looked like Marinette for a moment which threw him off. He could swear that it felt like Midoriya and Marinette were hanging out like they used to.
Then he suddenly got a strong kick right across his chest from Ashido. He skidded across the floor, feeling the wind get knocked out of him.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry Cat Noir!" Ashido cried out, "Are you okay? You should've better than to charge at me like that!"
Cat Noir tried to get up, but smirked at her as he went back to hero training with her. She stopped herself from helping him to do his cataclysm being activated. As he got up, he spotted Skylar staring at him from across the gym. She seemed somewhat curious about his power. As far as she knew, she thought that it was a quirk of some kind.
No one had explained to her what Miraculous were yet.
In Class 2-A's dormitory...
Everyone was a little sore from tonight's hero training. They soon finished dinner and settled down around the common room until it was time for bed. Adrien and Chloe hung out with them for a while since they didn't have any of their friends at the dormitory. Mostly everyone was curious about Skylar's quirk since she is new here. Adrien and Chloe even found out what happened to Mineta, which shocked them but not by a lot.
"I can't believe Minoru got expelled," Adrien said to them.
"I'm not. That guy deserved it after what he did during Summer camp," Chloe said back, "If anything, I already prefer Skylar here over Minoru. At least she's easy to talk to."
"Besides, we really needed another girl in the dormitories," Uraraka said to them, "Skylar, I'm at least glad that you don't have to deal with Mineta like we did."
Skylar gave them a look that she was clearly concerned about what this guy did to them. She even looked a little red around her face, but tried to shake it off.
"Well, I'm glad that I can finally settle down here. This dormitory is a lot bigger than I expected! Honestly though, everything here seems bigger than I expected," Skylar said to them.
"Yeah. This school is pretty big," Yaoyorozu explained to her, "You can easily get lost in U.A. so don't be shy to ask for directions here. It happens to us all the time, and we're second years now."
Adrien sat next to Midoriya and Uraraka, and he couldn't stop staring at her bracelet. Something about it seemed a bit weird during hero training. He could swear that it was glowing when she used it to show everyone her quirk. He didn't know what that meant, but something about it seemed like there was more going on with her quirk.
"So Skylar," Iida said to her, "Your quirk seems pretty unique. You said it's called Power Absorption?"
"Yeah. I'm kind of surprised that I was able to perform such a tough power up like that," Skylar told them, "It takes a lot of energy to use up that much. I'm actually pretty strong even without my quirk, believe it or not."
"Really? A girl that's naturally strong and has a Power Absorption quirk? This is amazing!" Ashido commented, "We don't have anyone like that. All of the guys in our class have strong and power type quirks."
Bakugo crossed his arms, not convinced at all.
"Yeah right. You don't look naturally strong whatsoever, Red Streaks," Bakugo said to her.
"Red Streaks? Is that some kind of nickname or something?" Skylar asked him.
"Katsuki! Sorry about him. He can be a bit competitive," Chloe said back as she tried to calm him down.
Bakugo walked up to Skylar, and Adrien could tell that he needed more convincing that she was naturally strong. He pushed everything off of the coffee table, which got Iida to lecture him. Bakugo put his elbow on the table, ready for an arm wrestling match.
"Let's see how strong you are," Bakugo said to her.
He gave her a smirk as he waited for her to take his offer. She looked at his hand and smiled back at him with such passionate eyes. She kneeled down, ready to show him what she can do. She tightened her grip onto Bakugo's, getting ready to start the match.
"Don't you dare use your damn quirk on me," Bakugo growled at her, "I can easily beat you without mine."
"Kacchan. Maybe you shouldn't," Midoriya said to him.
"It's okay Izuku. I can handle this," Skylar said, looking a little more chipper than she should be.
Adrien could tell that her chipper attitude was bothering Bakugo at this point, but he didn't back down. Kirishima smiled, excited to help them start the match. Everyone was a little worried, but mostly everyone was kind of curious as to who would win. All of the girls wanted Skylar to win, making Bakugo a little annoyed. Skylar didn't back down as they got ready.
"Ready... and go!" Kirishima exclaimed to them.
The moment they started, Bakugo was the only one putting in any sort of effort. Skylar didn't even flinch or look like she was putting in any sort of effort. Something about annoyed Bakugo, and he kept pushing. He even gripped onto the coffee table, but that didn't seem to do much. Her arm moved a little down, but just barely an inch. Everyone was shocked to see Bakugo actually struggling with this.
Adrien noticed Skylar smiling, like this was nothing. Before anyone could react, Skylar slammed down Bakugo's arm onto the coffee table, leaving a crack on the coffee table. Bakugo's eyes widened in shock, not expecting Skylar to beat him so easily. Not only that, but she didn't even look like she was struggling in any way shape or form. Everyone was in complete shock seeing Bakugo just sitting there with his arm laying down on the coffee table like that.
Adrien noticed her bracelet wasn't glowing this time around. She really was that strong without her quirk.
On Marinette's Balcony...
Marinette's eyes widened in shock as she stood there on her balcony. She took in everything that he had told her and didn't even know what to say to that. Class 2-A had a new classmate, and it was a girl. She had no idea what she looked like, but based on what he told her, she was really strong. He even explained what her quirk was and how it worked.
Marinette had finally gotten the chance to talk to him and things turned out to be crazier than she expected over there. Whoever this Skylar was, she seemed to be just as strong as Midoriya.
"Marinette? Are you still there?" Adrien asked her.
Marinette shook her head and got back to the conversation.
"Y-Yeah... I-I'm here," Marinette said back, "Wow... That's a lot to happen on a school day. Then again, this is U.A. we're talking about."
"Skylar is just much stronger than I expected," Adrien explained to her, "Something about her though feels different. I can't quite explain it. It's like she's holding back. I know that it was just her first day, but I could tell that she wasn't using her full power. I don't why she would lie about that."
Marinette didn't know this girl, but she felt a little worried about him. If this girl really could absorb other people's energy, then she was a little nervous that she wasn't with him. She wished that she could go over there, but she had to stay here for now and look after Paris.
"Just be careful around her," Marinette said to him, "I may not know her, but I do think that you should at least give her some time to adjust to U.A. I mean, this is her first day after all."
"Yeah. You're probably right," Adrien said to her, "Besides, you should've seen the look on Katsuki's face when he lost to Skylar. That match went by so fast that I don't think he expected to lose so easily."
Marinette couldn't help but laugh at Bakugo losing so easily without his quirk. It seemed like Skylar really was naturally strong. Something about it did seem pretty satisfying to have this new girl take Bakugo down a peg. Marinette smiled, already liking this girl.
"Izuku must've been pretty surprised too to have someone having a quirk similar to his," Marinette said to him, "I mean, she sounds pretty strong from what I can tell."
"Yeah. Izuku was clearly thrown off by the whole thing," Adrien said back, "I don't think he's used to someone being in competition with him. This new girl shows up, and somehow knows about Izuku. She even knows about me being a fashion model in Paris. I don't understand how she even knows that. It doesn't make any sense."
"Didn't you say that she watched you guys perform at the Sports Festival? She could just be a fan," Marinette pointed out.
"Yeah. She shouldn't know about me being a fashion model. It doesn't make any sense. She's even from--"
"Marinette! You should come down here," Alya's voice cried out from her room.
Marinette moved away from her phone for a moment to check on Alya.
"Alright. I'll be there in a minute!" Marinette called out, then turned to Adrien, "Sorry Adrien, but I really gotta go. Can we talk tomorrow?"
She could tell that Adrien was a little upset to be interrupted, but she smiled and felt good hearing from him.
"Hey. I love you Adrien," Marinette said to him.
"I love you too Marinette. Good night," Adrien said back.
"Good night Adrien."
Marinette let out a sigh as she hung up her phone. She gave herself a moment to realize that Adrien and Class 2-A got a new classmate around the same time as them. She knew that it had to be a coincidence and shook it off. Once she climbed down her balcony, she spotted Sabrina. Marinette smiled at her, but then she noticed that she looked worried about something. She hoped that it wasn't anything serious.
"Sabrina. Hey, what's wrong?" Marinette asked her.
Sabrina looked a little concerned about something, and everyone was here to help her out.
"It's Ember. Something's wrong," Sabrina explained to them.
Marinette's eyes widened in shock, surprised that she even ran into her. Marinette didn't hesitate to help Sabrina out.
"What's wrong? Did she need help something?" Marinette asked her, "There are no more akumas, so it's gotta something else."
Sabrina seemed like she didn't know what was wrong, but Marinette knew that she had to do something. Before she could run off, Sabrina spoke up.
"Marinette. She needs Ladybug's help."
Another amazing chapter!
This was a fun chapter to write! I like using this one as a flashback to what happened with Adrien, Skylar and Midoriya. I thought it was kind of clever for the situation. I love how things are going so far. I just want to have fun with this and see where it goes. It might different compared the other stories. Obviously no one's going to Japan or Paris yet, but it will happen for sure! I'm happy with the things are going so far! I love the fact that Bakugo wanted to arm wrestle Skylar! LOL! I found it kind of satisfying to see them go up against each other.
Skylar is pretty strong even without her quirk...
