In the grill Elena and Stefan waited to find out what they could about the rest of the town.

"The fire's out. The story is that the building's old wiring is what caused it,"

"Did you see where Damon went?,"

"No he just kind of disappeared,"

"Figures,"

"I'm so glad you're okay," Elena leaned in hugging Stefan tight.

"I try so hard to hate him I guess it's just pointless,"

"You care about him, so do I. But I love you Stefan I know that you're worried about that,"

"I just, you know my brother,"

"But I love you Stefan,"

"I know the trouble he can cause,"

"I love you Stefan, you," leaning in she kisses him to ease his worries.

"You have nothing to worry about okay? So Jenna called Jeremy's at Eliza's and safe so I am going to head over to the school and grab my dress and stuff,"

"At least you know he's okay,"

"True," Elena said as they headed out together.

Jeremy laid in bed stroking Anna's hair it had been a scary night he could have lost her, lost the most special person he had ever known and been with. It was with that thought he made a very serious decision.

"I'll join you in the vampire world Anna, I won't loose you ever," he swore as he closed his eyes to rest.

Nik heard his vow from where he laid holding Eliza and knew he would have to make sure his transition was handled properly.

At the hospital Matt and Tyler waited in the lobby to find out about Caroline.

"Hey man, look I don't even know what happened. I do know I am so sorry,"

"It's okay man, it's alright," Tyler nodded taking a seat beside Matt.

"I texted the group, Nik said Eliza will be here in the morning. Her mom is inside getting information," nodding Tyler was happy to hear someone sent out word.

"What's happening? Is she alright?," Matt asked as Liz came out to the waiting room.

"There was some internal bleeding, they're taking her into surgery,"

"What else did they say? Is she going to be okay?,"

"They're going to do everything they can. Tyler have you talked to your mom?,"

"I left her a message telling her I was here,"

"You need to call her,"

"Why what's wrong?,"

"It's your dad," with that said Tyler took off to call his mom again.

Elena arrived home and began up the steps when Damon arrived.

"What are you doing here?,"

"A failed and feeble attempt at doing the right thing,"

"Which was..?,"

"It's not important. I'll take this from you," Damon said taking the items from her hands and placing them down on the swing seat.

"Thank you,"

"You know I came to this town wanting to destroy it, tonight I found myself wanting to protect it. How does that happen? I'm not a hero Elena I don't do good, it's not in me,"

"Maybe it is,"

"No, it's reserved for my brother, Eliza, and...and you, and Bonnie. Even though she has every reason to hate me,"

"Why do you sound so surprised?,"

"Because Eliza saved me for you, which means somewhere along the way you decided I was worth saving. And I wanted to thank you for that,"

"You're welcome," leaning in Damon kissed her on the cheek.

Pulling back their eyes met and within the span on five seconds Damon and Elena began to kiss. He knew deep down Eliza was going to kill him but he couldn't stop.

Suddenly the door opened to reveal Jenna causing them to break apart.

"Hi,"

"It's late you should probably come inside," as Elena entered the house Jenna shook her head at Damon.

"What are you doing? You know the history between Stefan and Damon and the troubles they went through and with your sister,"

"I don't want to talk about," Elena brushed it off heading upstairs.

John was in the kitchen hiding out knowing he shouldn't be on the streets after having faced Eliza.

"You scared me," John gasped as he closed the fridge door seeing Elena standing in the doorway.

"You know I first met when I was a teenager, I fell in love with her instantly. She never loved me. She was special, and part of why I hate vampires so much. Because of what she became, how it ruined her. And I never would have sent her to Damon had I known she wanted to turn. It's my fault, I'm telling you this because I hope maybe you'd understand," John spoke as he approached Elena as she stood putting knives back in the block.

"Thank you,"

"Can I help?,"

"Sure," she said as she grabbed his hand quickly and grabbing a knife chopped off his fingers including the one bearing his resurrection ring.

"Katherine?," he said in shock as she shoved him backwards into the counter.

"Hello John, goodbye John," Katherine said before shoving the knife into his stomach.

A minute later the door opened revealing the real Elena things were going to get seriously messed up now that she and Katherine were in the same town.
