Kit loves his job. The simplicity of all of it. He feels great accomplishment so little yet so much. It's something he can't mess up. Maybe he loves it a bit too much. While he did enjoy having fun with Tails and Charmy his job is still really important to him. Now it's a sort of consistency in his life. A nice routine he can fall into along with some freedom on the sides. It's nice. Especially when he gets lunch and sees Tails. He doesn't even think Tails actually works here but she's still there for him at lunch. Which he appreciates, Tails is a very nice girl.

So when Kit sees Tails when he goes to lunch, he isn't surprised. He is still happy to see her though. Especially when she seems happy to see him as well. They talk about mundane things and about how sorry Tails is for Cream's behavior. Kit says he understands and Tails tells him how that isn't true and how he's a better person now, Kit smiles about how much Tails cares for him. Of course, Kit says it's okay and eventually Tails stops but still makes sure that he knows that she thinks he doesn't deserve that.

After lunch Kit returns to his job. Working and working until the day ends and he goes back, he reads his book until Surge comes. But she only stops by for a little bit to tell him that she's going to be out and before Kit can get a word in, she's gone and he's alone. Now he can hardly blame Surge but there is no way he can be alone. Kit hates being alone. Absolutely hates it, sure he doesn't usually interact with people but he hates being by himself even more. He knows what he has to do, he packs his stuff and goes to Tails.

Kit knocks on the door to Tails' lab. Tails answers to only be confused to see Kit outside looking like a lost cat.

"Kit?"

"Surge is out and I don't like being alone, can I sleep here?"

"…Sure."

Kit enters Tails' lab and immediately sees her airplane.

"Sorry, I wasn't expecting guests."

"It's okay, sorry for bothering you."

"Kit, you're not a bother."

"…Thank you."

Tails continues to work on her plane, while Kit reads his book. Tails doesn't seem to be making much progress however. Constantly stopping to figure things out. Kit notices this pretty quickly.

"You need help?"

Somehow Kit figures out the problem quickly, which surprises Tails and apparently Kit knows a lot as he ends up helping Tails a lot. A pleasant surprise. Eventually night come though and Kit still has to work tomorrow. Somehow Kit gets guilt tripped into using the bed that Tails has. Something about how he needs a good night's sleep. But Kit then proceeds to guilt trip her into actually going to sleep, Sonic would be jealous since he's never been able to do that.

The two wake up the next morning. Kit wakes up first and gets ready before waking Tails and telling her that he's going. To his surprise Tails ends up pulling him in and cuddling him. In her obviously sleep deprived state she grabs Kit due to warmth. It doesn't help that Kit becomes even more warm when he blushes. Of course, Kit attempts to wake her up but Kit guesses that she's a deep sleeper. He attempts to move himself out. Eventually succeeding. He begins to write a note but before he get into it he hears whimpering. Tails is crying, he can't leave her like this, so he attempts to wake her up. He somehow, after being grabbed again, succeeds.

"Huh? Oh! Kit! Sorry!" Tails says panicked getting off of him, relizing what she was doing.

"It's fine, are you okay?" Tails blushes red from the concern of Kit.

"Yeah I'm okay, why?"

"You grabbed me and when I got up you began to cry." Kit gives her a concerned look, she hides behind her Tails.

"Sorry, I'm fine."

"I can take the day off if your not okay." Kit says which makes Tails blush somehow even redder. It's a tempting offer.

"I'll be okay, but thank you."

"Okay… If you need me I'll be at the restoration." Kit gives a smile, while Tails nods her head. Kit leaves.

As soon as Kit leaves Tails beats herself up for being so obvious. Until she hears someone else knock on her door. Only to find out it's Charmy. She's going to die from embarrassment today, isn't she?

"Hey Tails, was that Kit just leaving you house?" Charmy asks, their mood as cheerful as ever.

"Yeah. He needed a place to be because Surge left and he hates being left alone." Tails elaborates.

"Oh what? You should've called me, we all could've had a sleepover!"

"I'll keep that in mind next time… so what are you doing here?" Tails asks.

"Remember we were going to work on some projects together?" Charmy reminds her.

"…I'm so stupid." Tails says and Charmy laughs, she invites Charmy inside and they get to work.

Kit is surprisingly not late for work. But just on time. They go in and do their job. It's good to be consistent with your job. Passing papers is a pleasing pastime for Kit. He does that until he goes to lunch. Tails isn't there today, which weirds Kit out, he hopes Tails is okay. He worries for her all throughout lunch. He assumes that she's busy with something then goes back to his job and finishes the day. Then goes back to his bunk room to find Surge.

He sits down and reads his book. At first Surge says nothing, she seems deep in thought. Kit doesn't bother her, he assumes she's thinking about Amy. Which is true but he's missing something.

"Drippy?" Surge asks

"Yeah?" Kit replies.

"Do you ever miss someone you only just met?" Surge asks, Kit thinks for a second before getting an answer.

"Yes."

"Well I'm glad I'm not the only one" Surge says and Kit nods. Agreeing with her assessment.
