Upon entering the kitchen Elena gasped finding John laying on the floor holding his stomach. the bloody knife laying beside him. rushing forward Elena grabbed a dish towel pressing it onto his stomach as she grabbed the phone next from the counter.

"911 what's your emergency?,"

"Hi I need a ambulance to 2104 Maple Street,"

"Behind you," John whispered out as Elena tried to get help.

"What?,"

"Behind you," turning quickly Elena found nothing there.

Grabbing the knife she stood slowly and quietly made her way out into the hallway.

After turning to face back towards the kitchen she spun again when the front door slammed behind her.

Ten minutes later the EMT's arrived and began stretchering John out as the detectives took down notes and information from Elena.

Stefan arrived along with Henry Mackenzie on behalf of Nik to find out what happened.

"They're okay," Elena called out from the stairs as the deputy tried to stop them from entering the house.

"Miss Gilbert?,"

"I'll be right there,"

"You need to go to the hospital,"

"No but what about Jenna and everything,"

"I will stay and take care of her and help with the house you two go," Henry offered making their decision to leave easier knowing Jenna was safe.

At the hospital Bonnie rushed up to Matt after hearing there was a accident.

"How is she?,"

"She's not good Bon,"

"What happened?,"

"We were driving and Tyler heard this noise and he got, he got like a migraine or something, and he lost control of the car. I thought Caroline was fine and then, and then she wasn't so..," as Matt explained what happened Bonnie felt so guilty cause it was the device that caused the accident.

"Liz I came as soon as I got the message," Damon rushed up to Liz hugging her in concern.

"Is she okay?,"

"She's in surgery, they're doing everything they can. I need your help Damon,"

"Of course anything Liz," Damon placed his hand on her back leading her to a set of chairs.

"Mayor Lockwood is dead. They thought he was a vampire, they locked him in the basement,"

"Mayor Lockwood was a vampire?,"

"No, no, no a mistake was made. They said he dropped like the others when John's device went off, but he couldn't have been a vampire I've known him my whole life. Now carol Lockwood is gonna want answers and all I can think about right now is Caroline and I'm..," Liz began breaking down in tears.

"It's okay hey," Damon consoled her pulling her into a hug.

"Bonnie how's Caroline?," Elena asked as she noticed her in the hospital hallway.

"She's weak they don't know if she's going to make it,"

"What? Is there something you can do? A spell or something ?,"

"She doesn't know how, plus with Eliza's curse on her she can't do magic either way," Damon said approaching the girls.

"No I don't and he's right I can't do magic with this curse on me,"

"It took Emily years to learn a spell like that,"

"Yeah well i can take down a vampire that spell was easy to learn,"

"No you can't," Damon kept reminding her of what Eliza did to save him, he had only found out cause Stefan called him shortly after he disappeared that night.

"I can give Caroline some blood,"

"No, no way,"

"Just enough to heal her she'll be safe. It'll be out of her system, she'll be better,"

"It's too risky i can't agree to that,"

"But I can," came Eliza's weary voice behind Elena.

Nik guided her towards the three of them she was still weak from the night before but with so many people now in the hospital she had to make a appearance.

"If not him it will be a vampire of my choosing Elena to save her,"

"Do it, this is Caroline. Okay we can't let her die," Bonnie spoke up agreeing with Eliza and Damon.

"Wise choice Bonnie, either Nik or Damon make your choice,"

"Damon please," Elena conceded giving into the discussion.

"I do this you and me we call a truce?," Damon asked Bonnie hoping to get her to stop hating him.

"No but you'll do it anyway for Elena and Eliza," she pointed out before walking away.

Damon moved over kissing Eliza's cheek whispering 'thank you' to her for saving his life the night before.

"Always," she smiled as Nik nodded at him and began guiding her down the hall again.

"I know this is probably the last thing we should do right now but we should talk about what happened last night,"

"One of the tomb vampires got in the house and almost killed John,"

"What? What? When? What are you talking about? After I left?,"

"You were there,"

"Come on Elena you know I was,"

"When were you at the house?,"

"Really? Earlier...on the porch? We were talking, all cathartic, feelings exposed. Come on, we kissed Elena,"

"Seriously," came Eliza stunned voice behind them assuming Nik had just told her what was said.

"Okay I dont have time for this Damon,"

"Hey if you wanna forget it happened fine, but I can't,"

"Elena I came as soon as I could. How's John?,"

"Where have you been?,"

"At the fire department. I had to fill out a report. I told you last night I had to do it this morning,"

"No you didn't,"

"Yes I did,"

"No, Jenna you didn't,"

"Yes I did,"

"Oh," Damon said realizing now what was going on.

"You got to be kidding me," rushing off he and Elena took off to her house to tell Stefan.
