Damon arrived home after throwing his jacket on the couch he poured himself a scotch to think about everything Eliza and Stefan told him.

"You're brave coming here,"

"I wanted to say goodbye,"

"Leaving so soon?,"

"I know where I'm not wanted. A angry Mackenzie witch, a spiteful ex too many factors,"

"Don't pout it's not attractive on a woman your age,"

"Ouch," Katherine said as Damon tried to walk away.

Whooshing in front of him Katherine was determined to break him.

"What no goodbye kiss?,"

"Why don't I kill you instead? What are you doing here?,"

"Nostalgia, curiosity, et cetera,"

"I'm better at the enigmatic one liners Katherine what are you up to?,"

"Trust me Damon when I'm up to something you'd know it. Come on kiss me or kill me? Which one will it be Damon? We both know that your only capable of one," Damon turned to leave again he wanted so badly to keep his word to Eliza.

Katherine whooshed again this time taking Damon down to the floor while kneeling over him.

"My sweet, innocent Damon," she purred as Damon flashed them over so he was on top.

He had his hand wrapped around her throat and in only mere moments began kissing her.

"That's more like it," Katherine smiled as she grabbed Damon's throat and flashed them against a wall and ripped open his shirt.

They made out hot and heavy Damon laying her on the side table before stopping briefly.

"Wait. Wait. Brief pause," Katherine rolled her eyes as she shoved him away waiting to hear what he had to say.

"I have a question. Answer it and it's back to fires and rockets red glare. Answer it right and I'll forget about the last 145 years I've spent missing you. I'll forget how much I loved you, I'll forget everything and we can start over. This can be our defining moment. Because we have time, that's the beauty of eternity. I just need the truth just once,"

"Stop, I already know your question and it's answer. The truth is I've never loved you I just wanted to be selfish and have you both and watch Elizabeth suffer with no one. It was always Stefan," pulling his hands away from her face Katherine began walking out.

Damon was shattered he spent all that time, he broke Elizabeth's heart, he ruined things with the only woman who had put him first.

Taking the pain Damon knew Nik was still out of town and made his way to Eliza's. She exited the bathroom after removing her small bit of makeup she had chosen to wear for the memorial.

She was startled to find Damon sitting on her bed.

"What are you doing here?,"

"Just doing my part in the neighborhood watch,"

"Thank you for always looking out for us, for me after all these years,"

"That's me the trusty bodyguard calm in a crisis,"

"Have you been drinking Day?,"

"Heh you haven't called me that since the day we were engaged, but yeah just a little bit,"

"And you're upset that's not a good combo," Eliza said sitting beside him reaching up to stroke his hair back from his face.

"No I'm not upset. Upset is a emotion specific to those that care,"

"You do hun for me, for our little family we have here,"

"What we've been doing here means something right, us, them?,"

"Of course we are righting wrongs done to us. Uniting and bringing together centuries of people to form a tight knit family based on trust and love,"

"If Nik wasn't around would I have ever had have a shot with you again when I found you?,"

"Oh Damon. Honestly if Nik and I hadn't gotten back together, if I hadn't been reborn with my memories I say I would have still fallen madly in love with you. I still do love you Damon you and i spent 28 years together before everything went down I cherish everything we had and have now,"

"Would you hate me if I kissed you,"

"Damon you aren't thinking straight,"

"Hey sis everything okay in there?," Jeremy asked concerned outside the bedroom door.

"Yes thanks Jer," she called back so he knew she was okay.

"I'm thinking perfectly clear can I kiss you just once to have the strength to continue this fight?,"

"One kiss Day okay," she agreed as he pulled her over onto his lap and pulled her into a kiss.

The fireworks were still there for them they both felt it. As they shared that one kiss a royal blue bond settled over them cementing the strength they both needed.

"Feel better?," she asked as they pulled apart.

With a nod of his head Damon rested his forehead against hers.

"Want to stay the night?,"

"Yes please,"

"Go on get comfy," she said standing and slipping into bed as Damon removed his boots, and shirt and laid down on top of the blankets.

Cuddling together Eliza knew something had to have happened tonight with Katherine or Elena and she would always be there for her Damon. She knew the other two would always choose Stefan but for her Damon was the only one she loved,

As they began to fall asleep Eliza flicked her wrist turning off the lights with her powers before they succumbed to rest after a long day of stress.
