The sunny courtyard of Naranja Academy was abuzz with chatter as students watched a spirited debate unfold between Ash and Arven.
"I mean, come on," Arven said, crossing his arms and giving Ash a skeptical once-over. "You? The world champion? The strongest Trainer in the world? That's a big claim, y'know."
Ash tilted his cap with a confident grin. "It's not just a claim, Arven. I've battled the best and won. But if you don't believe me, why don't we settle this with a Pokémon battle?"
Arven's eyes narrowed with a smirk tugging at his lips. "Alright, hotshot. Let's see what you've got. But if you win, I'll make you the best sandwich you've ever had in your life."
"Deal!" Ash said eagerly. "Pikachu and I are ready!"
"Pika pika!" Pikachu exclaimed, sparks crackling from its cheeks as it jumped down from Ash's shoulder.
Arven chuckled, reaching for his Poké Ball. "Don't think I'm going easy on you just because I'm testing you out. Meet my partner!" He threw the ball, and with a flash of light, a Greedent appeared, its round, fluffy body looking both adorable and formidable.
Ash blinked in surprise. "Whoa, I've never seen that Pokémon before! It looks so… floofy!"
"Greedent's more than just floofy," Arven said, smirking. "He's got the appetite of a champion and the strength to back it up. Let's do this!"
"Greedent, use Tackle!" Arven commanded.
The large squirrel Pokémon charged forward with surprising speed, its cheeks puffed out as it barreled toward Pikachu.
"Dodge it with Quick Attack!" Ash called.
In a blur of motion, Pikachu sidestepped the attack and zipped around Greedent, leaving the squirrel momentarily confused.
"Nice dodge, but Greedent can take hits like a champ," Arven said confidently. "Greedent, use Bullet Seed!"
Greedent spat out a flurry of glowing seeds towards Pikachu.
"Pikachu, counter it with Thunderbolt!" Ash commanded.
"Pika… CHUUUUU!" Pikachu unleashed a crackling bolt of electricity, blasting through the seeds and striking Greedent head-on.
Greedent stumbled back.
"Not bad," Arven admitted, "but we're not done yet. Greedent, use Stockpile!"
Greedent puffed out its cheeks even more, glowing faintly as it boosted its defenses.
Ash grinned. "That's not gonna stop us. Pikachu, Iron Tail!"
Pikachu's tail gleamed with a metallic shine as it flipped into the air and struck Greedent squarely on the head. The impact was too much for the recently evolved Pokémon, and it toppled over with swirls in its eyes.
Arven sighed, recalling Greedent with a wry smile. "Well, that was quick. I guess I underestimated you, champ. Greedent just evolved recently, so it's still getting used to battling at this level."
Ash smiled sheepishly. "Your Greedent's tough, though! Pikachu and I have been battling together for years, so we've got a lot of experience."
"Pika pika!" Pikachu chirped proudly.
Arven crossed his arms, chuckling. "Alright, fair's fair. A deal's a deal. I'll whip up a special sandwich just for you. Hope you're ready for something amazing!"
Later, in the academy's outdoor kitchen area, Arven carefully prepared a sandwich with a mix of fresh ingredients. He layered slices of perfectly cooked bacon, crisp lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and a special secret sauce onto a freshly baked baguette.
"Here you go," Arven said, presenting the sandwich to Ash with a flourish. "My ultimate masterpiece!"
Ash took a bite, his eyes lighting up instantly. "Wow! This is incredible! You weren't kidding about being good at this."
"Glad you like it," Arven said, grinning. "Cooking's my thing, y'know? If you ever want another, you'll have to win another battle first!"
"Deal," Ash said between bites, already looking forward to the next challenge.
Arven smiled as he watched. "Y'know, you're not what I expected, Ash. You're actually kinda cool."
"Thanks, Arven," Ash replied. "And I gotta say, you're a pretty great cook—and a good Trainer, too."
