Chapter 2: Awakening in a World of Wind and Waves

The first thing Sung Jin-Woo noticed was the smell. It was different from anything he had experienced before—fresh, salty, and earthy, as if the very air carried the essence of a vast ocean and untouched wilderness. His eyes fluttered open, and he found himself lying on the soft, mossy floor of a dense forest. Towering trees surrounded him, their canopies so thick that only slivers of sunlight filtered through, casting dappled patterns on the ground.

Jin-Woo sat up slowly, his body tense. This wasn't the world he knew. The last thing he remembered was—what was it? A faint memory, like a dream just out of reach. He couldn't piece it together, but before he could ponder further, a familiar chime echoed in his mind.

[System Alert!]

Welcome to the SSS-Rank Dungeon.

Warning: Time flow differs from the real world. One day in this dungeon equals one second in the real world.

Survive and adapt.

Jin-Woo's eyes narrowed. "An SSS-rank dungeon...?" he muttered, his voice low and sharp. The forest was alive with sounds—the rustling of leaves, distant calls of strange animals, and the occasional snap of a twig. Yet, there were no immediate signs of danger.

He stood up and flexed his hands, relieved to find his powers intact. Shadows writhed at his feet like loyal hounds, awaiting his command.

"An SSS-rank dungeon, huh?" he said to himself, his lips curling into a faint smirk. "Let's see what you've got."

As he began to explore the forest, he noticed something peculiar—there were no visible monsters, no traps, nothing that screamed 'dungeon' to him. The forest was almost... peaceful.

But peace, as Jin-Woo knew, was often deceptive.

After what felt like hours, he emerged from the dense forest and found himself on a grassy hill overlooking a small village. The scene took him by surprise. The village was quaint and picturesque, with charming little houses and several large windmills scattered around, their blades turning lazily in the breeze. Beyond the village, he could see the glimmering expanse of the ocean stretching out to the horizon.

Jin-Woo narrowed his eyes. This was not what he expected from an SSS-rank dungeon.

"Where am I...?" he murmured.

As he descended the hill toward the village, he kept his senses sharp, his shadows trailing silently behind him. The villagers appeared to be ordinary people, going about their daily lives. Children played near the windmills, their laughter echoing in the air. A group of fishermen hauled nets full of fish, chatting animatedly.

Jin-Woo stopped at the edge of the village, observing the scene. His presence went unnoticed for the most part, though a few villagers gave him curious glances.

"Strange," he muttered. "If this is a dungeon, where are the monsters? The traps? The boss?"

Just as he was about to step further into the village, the system chimed again.

[System Alert!]

Objective: Integrate into the world.

Tip: This is a living world. Trust is key to survival.

Jin-Woo frowned. "Integrate? What kind of dungeon is this?"

He glanced back at the forest, then at the peaceful village before him. He had a feeling this world was hiding something beneath its tranquil surface.

"Fine," he muttered, his expression firm. "If this is a game, I'll play along... for now."

He took his first step into the village, the wind carrying the faint scent of saltwater and the promise of unknown adventures ahead.
