The palace pets of Whisker Haven enjoyed a comfortable lifestyle. Ms. Featherbon provided them with only the best food, refreshments, and entertainment the city offered. Everyone had a best friend, if not one, then even more. Pumpkin and Treasure, Dreamy and Berry, and many more pairs were inseparable. That is until Ms Featherbon called all the pets to the grand hall for a meeting. Something was different in her usually cheery tone of voice. Treasure figured she just had a cold, or maybe somebody had forgotten to clean up after dinner the night before.
The pets trotted through the hallway, their steps filled with anticipation and wonder. Maybe they were meeting for a special event? Was their annual pony race being planned sooner than usual? Treasure turned to Pumpkin. "You didn't plan a super secret surprise gala without me, did you?" She meowed to her friend. The white spaniel shook her head. "Of course not. I'd need all hands on deck for something like that. You know my galas aren't galas without Berry's spectacular cooking!"
Treasure figured that was true. The only time she had cooked in the royal kitchen was during a special class organized by Ms. Featherbon. It was Berry's idea, having wanted to share her passion with the other pets. Treasure had somehow messed up the measurements for her pudding- so once it had come out of the fridge, it was a little more like soup. Luckily Berry was kind enough to share hers with everyone there. Pumpkin adjusted her tiara and looked over at Petite, a shy pony who was often unsure of herself.
"Petite, do you know any reason why Ms. Featherbon might have called us to the main hall?" She questioned gently. Petite shook her head with a frown. "No, sorry Pumpkin. Actually, I was hoping that you might know." She whinnied. "Darn." Treasure hung her head. It had been ages since Ms. Featherbon had called them all for an important meeting. Most of the time the pets did as they pleased, and she would simply watch over them, using her magical wand to help them if they were caught in a pickle. Treasure felt her paws ache nervously as she trodded through the doors of the banquet hall. Ms. Featherbon was already in the large room, pacing back and forth on top of the long table where they usually held their feasts.
When the tiny hummingbird looked up she gasped. "Goodness, finally!" She chirped. "What took you all so Long?" The pets looked around at one another and shrugged. They had simply been enjoying the conversation. "I need your help at once!" She chirped once more, flapping her wings frustratedly. "I've received word that there is a lost pet causing havoc inside the human world. I've tried using my magic to help coax her to come along, but she refuses to go through the portal- and we have to calm her down before she hurts anyone!"
The pets exchanged glances once again. This could be serious! Sometimes they would have to adventure into the human world to save a cat in a tree, but palace pets were always gently guided by Ms. Featherbon's magic into their place at Whisker Haven. However, if an anxious pet needed guidance, they had no choice but to step forward! Treasure couldn't help but wonder if the new pet had strong magic...if Ms. Featherbon couldn't calm her down, how could they? Maybe Dreamy could lull her to sleep... she scrunched up her nose in deep thought. Pumpkin seemed to notice this. "Don't worry, Treasure! She reassured, nudging the orange cat's side with her tail. "We'll make sure this new friend feels welcome at the palace! Won't we Petite?" She said cheerfully, turning to the pony. Petite smiled and nodded her head shyly.
"What are you guys waiting for? Let's go!" Berry and Raj the tiger were already standing by the portal. The adventurous look in their eyes made Treasure excited. Meeting a new friend wasdefinitelymore exciting than cleaning up after last night's dinner. Together the pets leapt through the swirling colors, happily awaiting the adventure on the other side.
