New story drop!

Not sure how effective this writing style is but I'll do my best to make it work. Sort of thinking about who's dead and who isn't.

This one is based off of Essiter1987's "If RWBY characters were Souls boss" so make sure to check it out. Anyways hope you enjoy the story.

The world you know have come to an end.

The people you've loved, hated, befriended, known, and cherished are all far from who they were.

The places you've been. Places in your memory.

You are not their saviors. Destined to ride from the heavens to rescue them from their sins or their promised hero, the one who will rescue them from this unholy hellscape.

You are not the last bastion against the forces of evil.

I have not made you to save the world.

I have not discarded your flesh so that you may cling to the ideals of the fools.

Make no mistake, I've made you better.

Undying but not immortal.

Do not waste your chances. No one out there will remember or care for you, you have no destined fate in this world. Understand that.

I shall guide you through this treacherous and bothersome world but mistake it for empathy or care and you will perish like those before you.

Your only goal is to hold onto your soul.

Do not disappoint.

(You)

The room was pitch black. You can smell the rankness of the room, the damp fetid smell of a room that has not seen daylight in decades. As you continue to regain your senses. More of the unpleasantness begin to assault your various sense, The feel of warm fluids dripping down your sides and the cold wet stone slabs underneath you. The taste of bitterness in your mouth and dryness that assaults your throat. it was unpleasant yet strangely familiar, an almost unheard-of comfort but you knew you can stay here no longer.

You slowly draw your legs in under you before standing, the action taking more effort than you would've thought as you prop yourself against the wall. You can stay here no longer. Your feet slap against the cold stone as you shuffle forward. Slowly, one foot in front of the other as you hand trace along the wall. The rough texture of stone soothing against your palm as you allow it to guide you before it suddenly vanishes, and you are sent plunging towards the darkness. The weightlessness taking only moments before you collide with the floor harshly, yet you don't feel the pain. You feel the sensation yet not pain itself, it shocks you, but you ignore it. The most important thing was for you to move.

Again, your hand reaches for the wall as your feet moves, this time more confidently as you maneuver your way around before you finally saw light penetrating the darkness. You move your feet, faster and faster until you reached a jogging pace, and your legs burned at the exertion. your lungs burning at such sudden action after the long unuse. Finally, You reached the small opening where light floods through, making your eyes water as you grow closer and closer before you finally reach up and-

Reawakening...

Your eyes open again and instantly sting as the water surrounding you coats your eyes. Your hands and feet are restrained, and the outside world is kept from you. You know it to be. A silent scream escapes you as you push against your restraints. A power rushes from within and your hands fly free. The metal claws that once trapped them plunging into the glass carapace of your prison and pierces through it. The pressure bursting forth and washing you, in all your naked glory, from the machine that trapped you.

Your instinctive response was to breathe, to inhale the fresh air that you once knew of but as you do so, something is wrong. The air is fresh and the same as what your memory recalls, yet something was primally wrong, something that you cannot distinguish yet feel so different from what you know but this is no time to dwell on that fact. You look around, you are in a library of sorts, Flames lick the building around you, filling the air with smoke and the smell of ash and burning flesh. A smell that makes your nose wrinkle in disgust. You muster up your strength to stand and look around. Spotting a book sitting on a table nearby. Untouched and undisturbed, A simply commonplace scene that look almost comical when compared to the destruction around you.

Unable to resist your curious nature, you walk over and wipe the dust from the cover. The title faded but distinguishable. "Ninjas of love". What luck fell upon you that after you reawaken, the first relic that you discover is an erotica targeted towards lonely teenage girls, yet you can't help to feel a sort of kinship and familiarity with the book. Perhaps you were a lonely teenage girl at heart after all. You pick up the book and wish you could put it some place but alas you were naked and without pockets. until suddenly, the same power that freed you from your prison surges forth again and wraps around the book. The greyish-white light surrounding the book and it vanishes from your hand.

Flabbergasted, you tried to summon it back, pulling all kinds of poses and various mental commands before finally giving up. In the back of your mind, you know that it was still there and there was a small voice admonishing you for even thinking about keeping such a piece of literature, but you forged on. This was no time to think about erotica or the guilt and shame it would bring. You still needed to find out where you were and how to get out. As you walk around the destroyed library, you spot an open door near the far side of the room, and you quickly jog to it.

Reaching the door reveals a narrow hall that seems too familiar to name. The roof of the hall has caved in, and the windows were shattered but your heart lifted at the sight of another human standing in the opposite doorway, facing away from you. Seemingly a student of this institution, as you prepared to call out to them, you freeze. Something wasn't right, you slowly walk closer to them and your body flashes, the same greyish white light and that same feeling as before. You hide behind the debris as they turn, and you can feel your face pale.

The entire left half of the humanoid creature in front of you was rotten, skin peeling back to reveal blackened flesh that dripped a viscous black liquid that dripped akin to blood. Their eyes were bloodshot. Their sclera pitch-black and their irises a crimson red. Dark veins ran down their arms as they gurgled before turning away. Thankfully unaware of your presence. Your heart pounds in your chest as you think about what you could potentially do. There was a chance to take down this creature. They were unaware and you were confident that you could at least put down the wretched creature with the element of surprise.

You steel yourself to do so as you emerge from behind the debris and slowly creep towards the former student. You raise your arm and prepare to grab them before you hear a sound that make you rethink your decision and sending fear through your body. Gurgling and growling, Dozens of the same gurgling that you've heard from the creature in front of you. You quickly back away from the creature and almost fall in your haste to do so. Taking a breath to calm your pounding heart and your suddenly weak legs. If you fell, it would be the same fate as it would've been had you attacked that creature. Instead, you start to head for the second corridor that you spotted moments before you had devised the foolish plan that had almost led you to your death.

You had just barely managed to the corridor when you heard the screams. As you dove for the debris, you hear the door being slammed open and a person stumbling out into the hall. sprinting past you as tears streak down their face only for three large shadow to pounce over you and pinning her to the floor. You sat there frozen in shock as you watch the three shadowy beasts rip the poor girl apart. Tendons snapping, Sinew ripping and bones crunching under their powerful jaws all the while the unfortunate victim screams in agony before a paw crushed her head flat. putting an end to all the noise. You held your breath as you watch the beasts continue to rip apart the body in disgust yet there was almost a sick and twisted sense of pleasure as you continued to watch.

Finally, you manage to advert your eyes from the sickening view and allow your thoughts to drift away from the perversive and dark thoughts that tantalized you. Utilizing the poor girl's unwilling sacrifice, you sneak pass the open door, glancing inside revealed three more victims, each as brutalized as the one you witnessed. A wave of nausea passes through you as you enter the room. looking around showed you nothing but bloodstained walls and ruined furniture. The only surviving item being a small photo that manage to survive the massacre. Picking it up revealed it to be a picture of four girls with a scribble that read "Team RWBY coming back soon!" You really hoped that the poor victims weren't these girls.

Exiting the room, you see two restrooms. One for Male and Female, somehow you get the feeling that this would've cost an outrage if it wasn't for the fact that the world was seemingly coming to an end. As you enter your respective lavatory, you see that the restroom was still in a pristine condition but given the fact it was a public facility. You explored the restroom quickly. Opening stalls and checking the vents before you found a hidden suitcase. One that was place meticulously between the gaps of the walls. Wedging it out and quickly opening the suitcase revealed a change of clothes and a shard. The shard looked oddly familiar, as you reach out for the shard, a slit upon your palm opens without warning and inserts the shard within itself.

You blink as these words flashes through your vision before your vision blurs and what feels like a white-hot spike of pain is driven through your skull, your legs seize up as your entire body starts convulsing. Thrashing on the floor in pure agony as you tried to breathe only for each attempt to be foiled by another spike of pain shooting through your body. it feels as if you have suddenly replaced your veins with molten lead. it felt like eternity before the pain finally faded away, your vision was filled with dark spots as you blink away the tears and pushed yourself over with trembling muscles before the same greyish-white glow envelopes you and the pain slowly start to fade away and strength refills your body. You sigh in relief before pushing yourself up from the floor and catches a glimpse of yourself in the mirror.

You lean in close to get a better view. Nothing felt out of the ordinary except for your eyes. The Scalera was a normal pale white thankfully, but your iris was no longer the color it once held. instead, it shone an almost dull grey. Other than this shocking twist. You are otherwise unchanged from what your memory provided. Preparing yourself to leave, a small protrusion from the wall catches your eyes and you hesitate before walking towards it and seeing a piece of the pipe protruding from the wall. With the obvious choice to have a chance at a weapon, You grab onto the pipe and start pulling. Your arms straining to pull the metal free as it groans and shudders before finally snapping free.

Now you were ready to go die with glory. If you were going down at least now the other party is going to have a concussion before you die. Keeping hold of the pipe, you peek out into the hall and spot one of the humanoid creatures roaming the hall, they were rather close and seemed to be alone, but you aren't going to take that chance. Slowly sneaking from debris to debris, you make your way behind the creature until you were within arm's reach.

The throaty gurgle makes you crinkle your nose in disgust as you quickly bring your pipe in front of the creature and pull harshly, strangling the creature as it thrashed and turned within your grasp. The fluid flowing down their wounds and over your skin as you pull harder and harder until the creature ceases to move, and you let go. Turning to ashes the moment it hit the floor, and you feel a sense of strength surge through you momentarily. You look at the spot where the creature disintegrated and find a small red crystal. Not knowing what it was yet sensing its importance; you pocket it and move further down the corridor.

It wasn't long until you spot the exit behind a veil of smoke, The flaming pile beside it hindering your view and blocking anything behind the doorway but it was of little matter to you, It was a way out of the building and a potential glimpse at the outside world. You rush towards the exit with pipe in hand and you foot had just passed the doorway when your entire world blurs and you are suddenly on the floor. The shock and vertigo had gotten the better of you as you tried to process what was going on.

You shake your head from the dizziness and blink the spots out of your eyes only to be met with the gruesome looks of another one of those creatures. only this one was even uglier and more depraved looking than the last, it was close enough to reach and as you processed that information. It reached out a hand to grab onto your leg. You panic as one should when a ugly creature decides to wrap its hand around your leg and kick out. nailing the creature in the face and causing the black goo to explode outward. Reminding you of, again, it's eerie likeliness to blood. The creature let go and grab its face in pain, letting out a wail of pain as you crawl away and get back to your feet.

Not only is it ugly. but it's absolutely hideous, you thought to yourself as you bring your pipe to a ready, the creature let out a low gurgling growl as another one of its kins emerge from the shadows. You bring your pipe up in a familiar position and it was only then do you see the small scratches on your arm and hand, likely caused by the creature tackling you but you were more fascinated at the small glows of greyish-white light intertwining between your wounds and reappearing as muscle before layering over with skin. The light was reconstructing your lost cells and healing you, but it wasn't fast. With this information, you felt more at ease trying to take down the two in front of you.

As the first charges you, you raise the pipe to block their strike, expecting to be able to easily hold up to the attack only for it to send strong reverberation running down your arms as their strike lands upon your weapon. Nearly shattering your guard as you quickly back up. Blocking doesn't seem to be a great move here, it took them one hit and your arm already felt weak, and they didn't even seem phased by the fact they just hit steel. You were more grateful that they didn't have weapons, if they did your guard might not have been able to withstand their attacks. Worse yet, the second one has started to move towards you. You needed to figure out a plan and you needed to figure it out fast.

As the creature rushes towards you again, you took a breath and stepped in, swinging the pipe as if it was a baseball bat and landing the hit squarely on the jaw of the creature, knocking it off to the sideline with a satisfying clang as you prepare another swing for the second creature swinging at you. Your swing comes up just short as the claw collides with your arm and two gashes are left on your shoulder. The familiar light already repairing the wound as you retake your stance. The second creature growled as it lunged towards you, but you were able to bring up your pipe just in time to knock their arms into the air, instinct takes over as you plunge your weapon towards the creature's chest with all you got and pierces the creature. Your shock at the maneuvers just barely fading as the creature disintegrates to reveal the first one already raising its arm to strike.

You quickly back away as it swings and just barely grazes your face, you bring your pipe up high and sends it crashing down onto the top of the creature's skull, ending it once and for all as it disintegrate much like its predecessor. Two down and it was just you left, looking at the spot where they disintegrated revealed two more crystals. Another red crystal and one blue crystal. You look around at your surroundings and it seems almost like an auditorium. One where it seems like someone would make speeches and classes would graduate.

Your eyes continue to roam across the room until it fell upon a sight that makes your hair stand on ends and your heart pound like drums. It was a wolflike figure, so indistinguishably canine yet larger than any canine should aspire to be, it's blood-red eyes tracking you as your sensitive ears pick up the low growling. You raise your pipe at the ready, but it was too late as the wolf lunges towards you and breaks through your guard with a simple swipe. This was not an enemy you can defeat with similar tactics that you used on the creatures before. This one was faster, stronger and better than you.

You hold up your pipe only to feel dread flood you as you look at the twisted and mangled piece of steel that used to be your weapon and only lifeline. You swallow in fear as you bolt in the opposite direction only for the wolf to close the gap with three effortless bounds before smacking you across the room with a swipe of its paws, sending you crashing through the stone benches and into the wall. Your entire body throb as you push yourself to your feet, The greyish-white light and power that once aid you is now flickering as you hobble towards the exit in desperation.

You knew that the thing could end you easily and that you stood no chance from the start. it was toying with you. It wasn't hungry for your flesh or even desired to hunt you down because of its nature. No, it was simply boredom that made this wolf decide to toy with you. Throwing you around like a ragdoll and messing with you. This revelation opened a pit in your stomach as you bite your cheek, Tears welling up as your legs finally gave out on you. You hated this feeling of powerlessness, it was frustrating, but this was it. you were about to die. Your second chance was about to be extinguished this early on into your new life. You lay on the floor gasping for breath as you glare at the wolf and for a split second, it almost seemed like the wolf was smirking back.

Your vision starts to darken as your head lolls back. You no longer had the strength to fight until your death or even to see your final moments. All you can hope was that in the next life. You woke up to a happier beginning and a happier future. You already hear voices in the distant and the howling of wolves. God do you hate wolves even if you were one.
