Prompt: "Is that blood?"
"No?"
"That's not a question you're supposed to answer with another question."
"You are aware that incessantly tapping either your pencil or your foot will not cause either Colonel Baird or the Librarians to get back here any quicker, correct?"
The Archivist rolled her eyes before sending an unamused look in Jenkins's direction from her desk in the main workroom. "I am well aware, Jenkins. It is, however, a habit that I have done since before I can even remember. And, although people have attempted to 'cure' me of it, it has persisted."
Jenkins raised an eyebrow at that. "People attempted to 'cure' you of what is, more than likely, a nervous tic?"
Ra just shrugged. "I can't even begin to pretend that I understand what was going through their minds."
"You went through at least one exorcism, didn't you?"
before she could respond, the Back Door opened almost with a bang to reveal Colonel Baird and Jacob Stone running through. Ra narrowed her eyes as she stood, watching them as they quickly closed the door and stood with heir entire weight against it. The Researcher (a name she was using for Jenkins) beat her to speaking, using his usual uncaring tone as he spoke.
"Huh, only two of you. Frankly, I never thought that they were cut out for…" He was broken from his train of thought as a heavy thud beat against the Back Door, causing Ra's eyes (at least) to widen. "Is that thing trying to get into my annex? You led that thing back here?"
Baird was not having any of it. "Not now!"
Her outburst caused both the Archivist and the Researcher to take action and rush to assist in holding the door shut. It was as she pressed her back against the Back Door that Ra noticed something odd to her. "Colonel Baird, is that blood on your hand?"
"No?"
Ra rolled her eyes before pursing her lips. "That's not a question that you're supposed to answer with another question."
"It's not important right now!"
It was at that moment that the banging stopped, causing the Archivist to share and unsure look with Stone before they all moved back and opened the door. To say that the sound was almost deafening was close to an understatement. Jenkins had to practically yell to be heard. "I believe I said with a whoosh!"
Ra inhaled sharply as Baird spoke almost forlornly. "Cassandra. Jones."
Before any of them could think of anything else to say or do, a ball of twine was practically hurled through the door. Stone caught it easily. "Got it!"
Just as he said that, he began to be pulled into the void, causing both Jenkins and Ra to grab onto him. Baird seemed almost oblivious as she went through the door. Ra shook her head. This was turning into one crazy mission.
