The Broken Boosted Gear
By Try Another Time
"Get up, children. Thy training is far from over." Athena told the duo as she stood a mere meters away from their mangled bodies. A wooden spear rested within her hands as her eyes denoted an expression as cold as Cocytus.
There was not even a single drop of mercy in the goddess, and those who watched from the sidelines knew that it wouldn't get any easier for the duo placed under her tutelage.
The eyes of many watch as Tosca, with trembling hands, reaches out for the incomplete spear that lies not far from her. Her body lies with many broken bones, and although she had used her barriers to block the damage, Athena had proven how weak her mastery over such an ability was as her wooden spear broke through each one.
Her eyes burned with determination as she forced herself to get up. "Vali, I'm ready when you are," Tosca said as her tail extended its blade sections to its fullest potential.
"I hear you, loud and clear," Vali replies as she forces her own broken body to stand up. "Shit, I was expecting a few broken bones, but my expectations fell quite far from reality," Vali smirked weakly before spitting some blood to the side. "Are you sure that this is not an execution, Lady Athena?"
"Master shall be the title by whom thou should address me, child of Grigory. Thou aren't a normal student, which also applies to young Tosca. The harshest of regimes will prove effective in shaping the rough gems before mine eyes into members of the Alliance who can match many of the strongest agents. I hold no disgust or negative feelings against either of thee, but like any other student under mine veil, positive reinforcement will be obtained when success is achieved. Those who seek to grow and achieve a goal shall be ready to bleed for it. Now, let us continue, children." Athena said as her eyes remained cold yet determined in her purpose.
"Albion, we're going to need your help!" Vali told her partner as she started to create multiple magical circles.
Tosca wasted no time as she took the lead and faced her master head-on. Her eyes shine with an everlasting will that few could match. "I won't fail. I will grow stronger, Old man. I will make you proud."
Athena smiled as the young Aegis Dragon started to grasp her teachings. "Thy body might ache like never before, but thou are learning step by step. How you grasp that spear is getting better; thy attacks are no longer mindless. Thou are analyzing me and looking for openings." Athena thought as she engaged Tosca while also keeping an eye on the spells and attacks Vali was unleashing.
The princess of Grigory was pushing herself as severely as Tosca as her multiple projectiles sought to aid Tosca in breaking Athena's defenses while also trying to make Athena fall to the divine divide's power.
The bystanders watched in awe for many hours as both girls got up again and again while not backing down even for a moment.
Victory was far from reachable, but they learned a crucial lesson that day.
"Never stop as long as you have a goal that you wish to achieve."
Back to the present.
Her senses were in full motion as she faced Cao Cao and Jeanne.
"He's fast." Tosca thought as she dashed across the battlefield while engaging Cao Cao, who was going all out as he delivered devastating attacks that cut the ground and any objects in its wake. "The blade of this holy spear is no joke. I can tell that it can easily cut through my armor if I let it get past my defenses, but his wide swings leave too much space for me to use against him."
"Die, disgusting lizard!" A voice drew her attention from behind, but Tosca didn't turn around, as she had already felt the presence of her secondary target.
Large amounts of blades started to arise from the ground as they sought to pierce Tosca from diverse directions. Still, the Aegis Dragon remained calm as several green hexagons appeared around her, blocking each blade before shattering them into a thousand pieces.
"Danmit!" Jeanne shouted as she stayed outside the immediate range of Tosca.
"Blade creation? She seems to have an ability similar in nature to Issaiah's, but hers has a broader range of activation, but these are far weaker than any blade he could create." Tosca told herself as she continued to exchange attacks with Cao Cao, who was smiling from ear to ear.
Tosca seemed to not only match his speed but also start to overtake him. Their spears clashed once more as sparks flew in all directions.
"Amazing. Precise barrier creation, a spear that can match my own, a tail-" Cao Cao stopped as he dashed away after feeling the incoming blade tail that sought to pierce his back. "A bladed tail that can act so sneakily that anyone could easily fall to you in a regular fight. Tell me, why are you so quiet? I expected to exchange a few notes with you before you fall before my spear."
"... I don't need to talk to someone who's already dead," Tosca said with a cold and deadly voice as she disappeared from Cao Cao's eyes for a second before she reappeared behind him.
Cao's smile disappeared for a second as he felt the imminent danger as Tosca was ready to pierce his entire chest with her spear. A bluish light orb arises from within his spear before he's transported away from danger within a millisecond.
Tosca's eyes quickly examined the area until she located her target, which found itself right next to his ally.
"Cao, are you alright?" Jeanne asked as she continued to glare at their opponent.
"I am, although she almost got me. If I hadn't activated Assaratana, I would be dead by now. That sudden boost in speed was unnatural. One second, I had her before me, and she was already behind me by the next. I admit that it took me by surprise." Cao Cao admits. He no longer smiles as he understands that his opponent isn't one to be underestimated. "Hey, you're hiding something, aren't you?"
Tosca doesn't reply as she goes on the offensive once more. She disappears from the sight of Cao Cao and Jeanne before reappearing within their blind spot.
Her helmet opened its mouth cavity only to reveal burning emerald flames, which were ready to incinerate anything in its path.
"Shit!" Jeanne almost bites her tongue as Cao Cao grabs hold of her before he transports them away from danger.
A large fire explosion burns half of the previous battlefield into a charred mess.
"Damn, I almost forgot that one. Dragons do shoot fire." Cao Cao felt the heat of the flames even after teleporting himself away from the area of the explosion. As his eyes lay focused on his opponent, he felt a mixture of emotions like never before. Fear and an indescribable sense of excitement arose within him as Tosca's eyes slowly turned to him.
"She's like a predator set on hunting me down. She won't stop until I'm dead. What a fantastic opponent I have met. Maybe we can-" His delusions were held back as he felt the shaking figure of Jeanne within his grasp. As his eyes took a quick look, he saw Jeanne's fear, as she acknowledged that she was too weak even to try to face their adversary.
Cao Cao had to decide if he was willing to put her at risk or protect her from danger. She was his first ally, and their connection was far stronger than any other he held. He knew that she was willing to bear the fear and continue to fight alongside him, but something was telling him to think twice before he put her in more danger.
'Don't…. Do… it.' A tiny and weak voice whispered in his ear.
"You won't get away again," Tosca said as she took a stance once more before her incredible speed made her disappear from their sight.
"She's moving too fast. I can't track her movements." Jeanne said as she tried to focus and track Tosca, but her eyes couldn't do it, and her senses were too undeveloped to tell where Tosca was coming from accurately.
Cao Cao knew that they were in trouble, and understanding the danger presented by their current opponent, he made a choice that was likely to change the course of his future. His hand reached out and grasped the small wristband that rested on Jeanne's right wrist before he ripped it with a smile on his face.
"No!" Jeanne panics as the small blackhole sucks her in. Her eyes watch in distress as Cao Cao sends her away from the fight.
"Don't worry. I will return." The so-called hero smiles as his instincts kick in at the last second. He raises his spear to try to block the incoming attack from above.
The ground beneath him shatters alongside the cracking sounds of many of his bones as his body is forced to endure the strength of a devastating attack.
Sparks fly as the incomplete spear Ouros spins beyond human speeds as Tosca tries to pierce his opponent's weapon. "You sent her away? Is your mind finally working for once?"
Cao Cao smirks. "I just couldn't risk her dying on me. Your bloodlust is growing far too strong for her to keep up."
"... A wise decision, but that won't change anything. She will also face judgment for her sins in this land. Your entire team doesn't deserve a drop of mercy after you came here and slaughtered thousands of innocent lives." Tosca's tail extends and goes after the kill.
Cao Cao sees it and activates a new orb, which arises from within the spear. This one is yellow, and as it becomes active, Tosca's tail deviates from its intended trajectory.
"What?" Tosca's eyes look confused as her attack fails.
Cao Cao wastes no time as he uses the ability of the first orb to teleport himself again. "Children's time is over. I shall use my entire arsenal against you. I reject your judgment. My actions are worthy of a true hero of humanity; I will never surrender to the will of inhuman overlords like the Alliance or Gaia. Humanity will be free once more."
Three more orbs arise from the spear before they start to rotate around Cao Cao. Suddenly, holy energy accumulates around him before 12 white figures take shape while clothed in holy armor sets.
Tosca couldn't see the faces of the white figures, but their stature and shapes almost reminded her of the Great Seraphs and other prominent members of Paraiso and Grigory. "Call as many allies as you want, but that won't change anything!"
Tosca increases her speed again, but to her surprise, the newly formed 'angelical soldiers' can match her speed. "Shit." She curses her luck as two soldiers appear at her right and left before they begin to attack with their holy weapons.
Tosca tries to activate her shields, but for some unknown reason, she's unable to, so she is forced to parry and evade the attacks of her new enemies. The strength behind their attacks is far superior to mere grunts, as Tosca feels the immense weight behind each swing.
"You're no longer winning this one, Welsh Brat. I will bury you right here and now!" Cao Cao shouts as he joins in with the remaining 'angelical soldiers.'
Tosca begins to sweat under her helmet and is surrounded, with no escape, as her opponents continue attacking with overwhelming teamwork. Although she's doing pretty well parrying and evading most attacks, the overwhelming number of them slowly brings her down as minor cuts appear all around her armor.
An ax swinging from her left, a halberd coming at her from the top, a greatsword coming at her from the right, and many more alongside the damn holy spear in Cao Cao's hands was making it an impossible situation for anyone to win.
"Is this it? Is this my limit?" She questions herself for a microsecond. As she recalls thousands of memories, a single one stands out.
She recalled the last fight her father faced—a fight in which he was poisoned by a deadly gas specially made to kill dragons. He was far from his prime strength, injured beyond any other battle she had ever witnessed, blinded and missing his two arms.
He was at death's door, yet he stood up again.
He never stopped, and as his daughter, she couldn't fall here. There was so much she had left to achieve and so much to experience, but beyond all that, she wanted to see him again, to speak with him once more, and to welcome him back.
*Spiral-Dustz*
Her hair starts to shine as a small voice chants that word again.
"Boost!"
Her strength increases again alongside her natural statistics.
"Thou possesses a trump card like no other. Thou has inherited his will. Learn to master it and take it to new heights. It can be much more than a simple increase in strength." Athena's voice again played in her ear as she recalled the harsh training she endured to get to this point.
Emerald flames erupt from within her body in all directions before taking the shape of spears.
"Phalanx! " she shouts before thousands of sharp, flaming spears pierce anyone within her immediate area.
The 'angelical soldiers' tried to move, but the spears locked each one in place before they started to burn from within.
"That-" Cao Cao doesn't get to finish his sentence as he gulps in fear due to the burning eyes of his opponent, which glared at him with deadly determination. His instincts screamed at him to create as much distance between him and her, but the end was near.
Tosca rushes after him, ignoring the soldiers. The incomplete spear spins much faster, and space starts to get distorted around it as one of its primary abilities activates.
Cao Cao bites his lip as he chooses not to back down. "O Spear. The true Holy Spear which pierces through God. Suck the ambition of the King of Domination sleeping within me and pierce through the gap of blessing and destruction. You. Announce the will, and turn it into a glow." He chants the forbidden words, determined to finish his opponent as he sees no other way out.
The First Longinus starts to shine with divine energy.
"Cao Cao!"
"Aegis Dragon!"
Each one takes aim before both spears clash against each other. The ground shakes across the realm as two almighty powers fight against each other.
"My will and ambition are much stronger than yours. You can't defeat me, Brat of the Welsh dragon. I'm the hero of humanity, the one destined to free them from the gods and their devices. We shall no longer fear or bend to their will!" Cao Cao screams as he pushes back with his spear. His hair grows longer as several strands turn completely white for unknown reasons.
Tosca pushes back with her own strength and the power of Ouros. "Hero or not, I won't fall before the selfish ambitions of someone who closes her eyes to the pain of others. You joined hands with those who seek to destroy innocent realms for the sake of their malicious desires. Your ambition is that of a child who chooses to avert their eyes from the truth. I was once human, and human hands took away that life, but my father saved me. The hands of a dragon helped me in my time of need and guided me alongside many others to a dream like no other. I will fight for that era of peace that Shiva witnessed within his visions, an era like no other, an era in which, no matter the race or the pantheon, we can come together and acknowledge each other as equals. An era that will unite this broken tree into a peaceful alliance. No more wars, no more unnecessary bloodshed, and no more malicious ambitions that only seek to continue to carry on the sins of the past."
The Aegis Dragon pushes back and forces Cao Cao several steps back as the power of Ouros starts to win over the power of the first Longinus.
Cao Cao's eyes can't believe what he sees as his adversary winning the clash. "It can't be!?"
Ouros uses its power to finally divert the trajectory of the holy spear before it goes straight for Cao Cao's chest.
The hit is confirmed as the entirety of the spear pierces his entire chest. Cao Cao coughs heavy amounts of blood as he falls to his knees. The holy spear falls to the floor but continues shining.
Tosca pulls out the spear without a drop of remorse, thus leaving a nasty gaping hole on Cao Cao, which continues to cough blood as his eyes remain focused on her.
"You choose this path, and now is the time to bear the consequences of your actions. If you do get reincarnated, choose a different path. The era we're creating won't need false heroes. Live a normal life if possible." Tosca says with genuine sincerity as she bears witness to the last moments of Cao Cao.
Cao Cao can't speak because his mind cannot make sense of the current situation. The Truth Idea was meant to work, but it had failed him.
As he closed his eyes, Cao Cao wondered why it had failed.
Tosca waited a couple of seconds before turning back. Something draws her attention as she reaches out to her ear to communicate with her team.
"Longinus remains?" The Aegis Dragon watched with surprise as the holy spear continued to shine. Her instincts screamed at her to avoid the spear, and Ouros hissing wasn't helping to calm her fears.
Then, she heard something. A tiny heartbeat that shouldn't be there. As her eyes turned back to face Cao Cao's corpse, she was met with an impossible sight.
Cao Cao's body stood up as the hole Ouros had created was no longer there. Its right hand rose up before Longinus returned to it.
"Judgment shall come to the enemies of Paraiso. I shall remain as the eternal judge to the enemies of my creations." A mysterious voice exited Cao Cao's lips. A voice that makes Tosca's instincts shoot up.
The Aegis Dragon creates distance between herself and the mysterious individual possessing Cao Cao.
The eyes of Cao Cao opened up. They are silver in tone and shined as bright as the purest of jewels. "Flesh and blood of the Welsh Dragon, you have opposed the child which wields this gift. I shall never offer mercy to a despicable existence such as yourself. For the sake of the future and this child's life, I shall eliminate you."
Tosca gripped her spear as her body felt her adversary's killing instinct. Her body screamed at her to jump, and she did at the last moment, as with a single swing, her adversary had cut everything in its path.
"You shall not run away." The mysterious being raises its left hand before pointing a finger at Tosca and shooting a beam of divine light that pierces Tosca's right shoulder. "My attack failed?"
Tosca holds back the need to scream as she analyzes the situation. "This is not Cao Cao. Someone or something else has taken over his body. How can this be?"
"Stand back!" A voice rings in her ear before an array of projectiles rain on the location of Cao Cao.
*Sawano Hiroyuki- Vigilante*
Tosca turns towards the direction from which the projectiles came from. Her eyes are filled with some anger as she realizes who has just arrived. Its metallic body packed with long-range weapons was unique within the Alliance as nobody was like her. "Lucille, what-"
"Nii-sama told me to come. That thing is not a regular enemy. That thing hates Nii-sama and anything that shares similarities with him. It despises dragons." Lucille replies as it aims one of its large claws at Tosca before retrieving her swiftly.
"Let me go. I-" Tosca stops as Lucille takes evasive maneuvers to evade the incoming attacks from the possessed Cao Cao.
"Your survival is my mission. I have come to aid you, so put aside your distrust for me. That thing is the opponent." Lucille says as her visor analyzes their opponent. Several salt shields now surround him while they levitate around him. "Running away is not an option. That thing is set on killing you, and it will cut through anyone in its path to get to you. It will likely target anything that is related to dragons or enemies from heaven."
"How can you know this?" Tosca questions Lucille.
"... Is trying to get inside me. Its voice seeks to control me like the others. It is calling to us. It's children and those bearing their blood." Lucille says.
Tosca grows quiet as this information shakes her to the very core.
At that moment.
All across the battlefields, angels, fallen angels, and their descendants fell to the floor as a voice called out to them.
"Come to me, my children. We shall hunt these heretics down."
These members of the Alliance screamed in pain as the voice became louder while an unseen force sought to get inside their heads while also violating their memories.
Amongst these affected members were Michael and Gabriel, who now smacked their heads against the ground beneath.
"Get out. Don't you dare invade them, my precious memories with him. Don't touch them!" Gabriel's eyes twitched erratically as she held the sides of her head. Tears roll down as she rejects the will of the voice. "No, I won't submit!"
Her halo started to blink as she opposed the unseen force. A tiny green spark began to arise as she fought against it even harder.
Michael was in a similar state as he pushed back against the voice. "You're not him. He never did this. How dare you do this to us? Stay away from us. These memories are mine alone. They aren't yours to pillage! I reject you!"
Many others fought against the force. Many recognized the voice, but none was willing to obey, as they had accepted the reality long ago.
He was dead.
They had grieved for many years.
And they had moved on.
This voice couldn't be their creator.
Back with Tosca.
"Shit… But how can I face that thing?" Tosca asked as she saw how it barely moved, and yet it remained such an opposing figure.
"Nii-sama will help. You have the spear. The spear connects you to him as much as the blood in your veins. Reach for his power and grasp it. I will be at your side. I promised him not to let you die." Lucille said as she retook aim and began to open fire against their target.
"Grasp his power? How?" Tosca questions her words.
"He hasn't stopped watching over you and the rest. He told me so, and even now, he's reaching out to me and you. Can't you hear his voice?" Lucille asks with a calm voice.
"His voice?" Tosca grows quiet before she closes her eyes. "Old man, I really need your help now."
As she does this, two new presences arrive.
"Tosca!" Isaiah shouts as he flights towards the location alongside Vali.
"Idiots! Use evasive maneuvers right now!" Lucille shouts coldly as she senses how their adversary has set its eyes on them.
"Shit!" Vali shouts as she is forced to evade an array of holy beams alongside Isaiah.
"What is that thing? That is not the Cao Cao we saw before!" Isaiah shouts as he uses his metallic devil wings to try to reflect some of the beams, which springily works.
"An opponent like no other. It is someone who shouldn't be here." Lucille says.
Vali's jewel shines before Albion speaks. "YHWH's judgment. Get ready; we're facing the big leagues now."
With that statement, a new, unexpected fight begins against a fragment of the dead Bible God.
Author's note:
The first Longinus and its fragment: The first Longinus is a rather unique weapon as it possesses a fragment of the YWHW. Sadly, of all fragments possible, the one that dwells inside is a fragment that holds YWHW's anger against those who opposed him during the war. It is a fragment without other aspects of the god that could balance these emotions and the weight of his pain during the war.
For this reason, this entity shall be addressed as Judgement.
