The year is 1945, things during this period were not the best, World War II ended within the past couple weeks and soldiers and others head home while also recovering from the long war. Tensions still remained high and moods were low. Though this is not a good year and a new year to start a fresh new beginning after another big event to go into the history books. The year may actually be a lot more positive and shocking than expected, though not as shocking as a World War that left millions in disaster. Still, a discovery to also hit the history books for years to come.

September 16, 1945

Three Navy ships, each carrying around a hundred troops each as they sail the seas back to America from Europe. It was a long journey and they were only halfway there. Everyone on board was a mix of happy, relieved or even depressed about how things went within the war. A variety of reasons from blood shed that didn't need to happen to soon being able to see their family and friends again. Everything was just casual and boring to give the troops a lot of time to think to themselves.

Though by the middle of the day, as the sailing continued one of the big Navy ships on the way home would notice a Big island. Or at least a small group of troops just hanging out playing cards or watching the sea from the ledge of the upper deck would see the giant landmass. Some would take interest in it as it'll be the most interesting thing they will see on the way home so a few would grab some binoculars to get a closer look of the land mass. It was quite a distance away so being able to get any noticeable features wasn't really possible other than seeing trees and greenary from where their ship is moving from.

They got a closer look of the Big island they are passing by, seeing trees, some hills and houses showing people live on it and didn't really think much of it as they didn't care too much about it as they weren't exploring the place to add it to the world map or anything. Though, a few minutes into observing the island, they noticed something off. It was something that none of them really seen before other than in a few movies such as The Wizard of Oz, seeing Anthropomorphic people. On the beach, relaxing or playing just like they would if they were to go to a beach. The ones looking through the binoculars were flabbergasted by this, cause they knew they were not just seeing things.

"You seeing this?" one asked after turning to look at another soldier also using binoculars.

"Yes I'm seeing this! This real? Or are we just going crazy?" the other asked as they both looked at each other.

"No you're not, we are seeing the same thing right?" he asked him and himself, rechecking the sight with the binoculars to double check himself.

"If you are seeing animals that appear to be on two legs and look very much like us more than normal animals then I'd say we are seeing the same thing!" the second guy replied double checking himself just like the first guy is.

Their chatter did grab the attention of a few other troopers which made them either grab a set of binoculars to check themselves or get a set from another soldier after they got their turn to look, luckily though they still were able to look at the island, even though they were moving quite fast. The Island was more along the size of New Zealand, giving them a five hundred mile long view of an island that has somehow not been found and mapped yet even though an island that is pretty long exists.

Though they don't know it yet, the island is actually around fifteen hundred square miles and in the shape of an oval, one side smaller than the other. The smaller curve side facing closes to the Americas while the bigger curve is closer to Europe.

As they kept admiring and looking through the binoculars in surprise, they saw that the clothes they wore, the chairs and umbrellas they use, and the toys you use in the sand to make sandcastles seemed to be all up to date, though some of which like the sand toys where not viewable, the umbrella and clothing choices barely viewable. It was still enough to tell them they were just as intelligent and up to date with technology and trends of the forties.

It got so interesting that a few went and tried to alert some of the higher ups to inform the captain since they were not able to speak to him themselves. Though it took a bit of time, the captain did come to check it out after slowing the boat's speed down.
"What is all this commotion about?!" He said somewhat loudly to get their attention as to why he was called out of the steering and didn't have much time to water being outside the bridge of the ship.

"Captain! There is strange life on the island over there!" a few said at the same time, handing him the binoculars to take a look. Which he did with a reluctant sigh. Looking through them for a minute seeing trees and houses, then eyes the anthropomorphic citizens on the beach of that said Island he is observing and gets a good look at them for a minute. Though the binoculars at the time were blurry after a certain distance, he was still able to glance at what he's seeing through them.

"Well…that is different ... .I will need to speak to the Admiral on this one, stand by" he said and walked back to the bridge. Though he was given strict orders to return home. This is a peak of interest, a peak that everyone at least in the group of twenty or so soldiers were interested in even though they just wanted to go home. This definitely changed their mind and brightened their spirits a little due to a world changing discovery of a new species that could be considered aliens to them, or what they will eventually call them, "Furries".

In the bridge, the captain went to the ship's radio and turned it on to communicate to the flag soldiers "raise Flag Lima and Kilo". Lima being the name of the flag to signal nearby ships to stop immediately and Kilo signaling they wish to communicate with them. It did get the other two ships attention and they began to stop. Once he got close enough he also stopped the ship. All three came to a stop after about ten minutes.

The captain turns the ship radio off and turns the fleet radio on and begins to use Morse code to communicate. Due to the limitations of technology at the time, Morse code was the best they could do. The conversation was shortened and simplified due to this limitation. "Nearby Island has life, observe and get back" was what was sent to the two other ships and the captain would wait for their response.

The Response back however took some time, another half an hour at least. The amount of time the whole situation took from the beginning to now has taken around two hours so far, making their original mission to return home have fallen behind by two hours. They all decided they would contact the Admiral first just to be safe and get their opinion on the matter. Though the downside is after another few hours they got a reply they were not really wanting to hear, "track location, return home" was what they got and they complied. Tracking the location to be explored at another time and then they resumed their course back home.

The troops were a bit disappointed by the fact they were not going to explore. Though it would be best not to all go because there were about three hundred soldiers that just finished a war. Definitely a "great" idea. For now the island was unbothered from human contact and would be interacted with on another day, in a more peaceful friendly manner. While on top of that they would need time to discuss the situation of a possible new species on earth, which can change everything in history.
