Solaceon Contest
The next morning, Lincoln and the rest of the group walked out of the Solaceon Town Pokemon Center.
"Okay; time for me to win my second ribbon." said Dawn.
"You mean time for me to win my third ribbon." replied Stella.
"We'll see about that." said Dawn. She and Stella glared at each other, making the others sweatdrop. Moments later, they arrived at the Solaceon Town Contest Hall.
"Hey, everyone." they hear Kenny call out to them. They looked to see him walking over to them.
"Hey, Kenny." said Dawn.
"Well, today's the day I win my next ribbon." said Kenny.
"No, I'm going to win it." replied Stella.
"No, me." said Dawn.
"Don't go easy on me; I want you girls to give me everything you got." said Kenny.
"I intend to." replied Dawn.
"Same here." said Stella. "I've been wanting a rematch with you since our battle at the Floaroma Town contest." The three coordinators smirk at each other before walking towards the entrance of the contest hall, followed by Lincoln and the others.
Back at Royal Woods, the Louds and the Zhaus were in the Louds living room.
"Oh, I hope Stella wins." said Mrs. Zhau.
"I hope it's not a repeat of the Hearthome Contest." said Mr. Zhau.
"That Zoey is one skilled coordinator." said Mrs. Zhau.
"I'm sure Stella will do just fine; if she doesn't, there's other contests." said Rita. Back at the Solaceon Contest Hall's changing room, Stella and Dawn were finished changing into their coordinator attire.
"Time to earn my next ribbon." said Stella.
"Not if I win it." said Dawn.
"We'll see about that." said Stella.
On the Contest Hall's stage, Marian was coming out onto it and over to the microphone at its center.
"Ladies and gentlemen." said Marian. "Welcome to the Solaceon Town Pokemon Contest. We have coordinators from all over Sinnoh here to show us what they can do in order to win the Solaceon Ribbon. Let's meet our panel of judges."
"I'm Raoul Contesta, and I'm looking forward to seeing what today's coordinators have in store for us." said Raoul Contesta.
"I'm Mr. Sumiko, and I believe today will be truly remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"And I'm Nurse Joy, and I wish all our coordinators luck in their performances." said Nurse Joy.
"Now that introductions are out of the way, let's get our coordinators out here." said Marian. "Up first is Stella Zhau."
Stella takes a deep breath before a look of determination appears on her face and she walks out onto the center of the stage; she takes out a pokeball and tosses it, releasing her Corsola in a cascade of bubbles.
"Okay, Corsola; use Bubble Beam straight up!" said Stella. Her Corsola fires a stream of bubbles above her. "Now use Ancient Power on the bubbles!" Her Corsola then summons up a bunch of rocks with fossils in them and launches them at the bubbles, popping them and making the droplets sparkle in the spotlight, as well as making the rocks glisten with the water. "Now use Tackle on the Ancient Power stones!" Her Corsola launches herself up at the fossil rocks and smashes them, making them shatter into sparkling fragments. Everyone cheers for her performance.
"That was quite the display of skill." said Raoul Contesta.
"Remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"That performance shows the coordinator's creativity." said Nurse Joy.
Back in Royal Woods, everyone at the Loud house was done watching Stella's performance.
"That was amazing." said Lori.
"That's our girl!" said Mr Zhau.
Back at the Solaceon Town Contest Hall, Stella's friends were cheering her on.
"Awesome!" said Sam.
"Nice one, Stella!" said Lincoln, making Stella wink at him.
The next few coordinators go up and show off their performances until it was Dawn's turn. Dawn walks to the center of the stage and pulls out a pokeball.
"Quilava, spotlight!" said Dawn, throwing Quilava's pokeball and releases her from a burst of fire. "Okay, Quilava, jump up and use Flame Wheel followed by Swift!" Quilava jumps up into the air, does an aerial somersault while being surrounded by fire; fiery stars come out of Quilava. "Now use Quick Attack on all the stars, Quilava!" Quilava stops spinning and leaps around the air with incredible speed, ramming all the fiery stars; sparkling orange fragments fall onto the stage. Everyone cheered for Dawn's performance.
"What an amazing performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"Quite remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"That performance shows how skillful both coordinator and Pokemon are." said Nurse Joy.
"All right, our last coordinator is Kenny." said Marian. Kenny walks towards the stage while Dawn walks out of it; as she and Kenny pass each other, Kenny sneaks a glance at Dawn, and blushes. Once on the stage, Kenny pulls out a pokeball.
"Breloom, go!" said Kenny, throwing Breloom's pokeball and releases it, followed by green leaves. "Breloom, use Stun Spore up into the air." Breloom releases orange powder from the holes on its head up into the air that forms into a cloud of it. "Now use Energy Ball onto the Stun Spore and use Mach Punch on it!" Breloom forms a ball of green energy between its hands and launches it into the cloud of Stun Spore; it then jumps up into the Stun Spore at the Energy Ball while its hand glows light blue and punches it. The force of the punch and explosion of the Energy Ball causes the Stun Spore cloud to burst, causing orange sparkles and green particles of light to come down onto the stage. The crowd cheered for Kenny's performance.
"That was an incredible performance." said Raoul Contesta.
"Truly remarkable." said Mr. Sumiko.
"Using Breloom's immunity to powder moves like Stun Spore to prevent being paralyzed shows how strategic the coordinator is." said Nurse Joy.
"That was actually pretty good." said Luna.
"Kenny's good." said Sam.
Once all the coordinators were all backstage, they all waited as the finalists were announced; and Dawn, Stella, and Kenny were shown to have advanced.
"All right!" said Dawn.
"I knew I could do it!" said Stella.
"I wonder which of you I'm gonna beat first?" asked Kenny. The pairings were revealed; it was going to be Dawn vs Kenny.
"Wow. Me and you are up next, Kenny." said Dawn.
"Y-Yeah." said Kenny as he looks away with a blush.
"What's with you?" asked Dawn.
"Nothing, Dee-Dee!" said Kenny before he runs off.
"What's with him?" asked Stella.
"Who can figure boys out?" asked Dawn.
Later, Dawn and Kenny were out on the battle stage, ready for their battle to begin.
"Ladies and gentlemen." said Marian. "We have our first Battle Stage battle ready; it's Dawn vs Kenny!"
"Hope you're ready to lose, Dee-Dee." said Kenny with a big grin.
"We'll see who loses!" said Dawn.
"Looks like our opponents are ready." said Marian. "Trainers, begin!" Kenny tosses his pokeball, letting out his Breloom in a burst of flower petals, while Dawn lets out her Swablu in a puff of clouds.
"Breloom, use Stun Spore!" said Kenny. His Breloom shakes its head, releasing yellow pollen at Swablu.
"Swablu, use Safeguard!" said Dawn. A blue force field appears around Swablu which blocks Breloom's Stun Spore, causing Kenny to lose points for a failed attack.
"Good move." said Lincoln. "Now Swablu's protected from status effects for a while."
"Swablu, use Round with Dragon Breath!" said Dawn. Swablu opens her beak and releases blue soundwaves; she then releases a green energy beam that goes through the Round attack, combining together, and hitting Breloom at the same time, causing Kenny to lose some points for taking a hit, and Dawn using an impressive combination. Breloom suddenly starts to twitch.
"Breloom's paralyzed!" said Sam.
"That could help Dawn." said Luna. Kenny was starting to look a little nervous.
"Breloom, use Mach Punch!" said Kenny. Breloom manages to fight through paralysis and moves quickly at Swablu, punching her, not doing a lot to her, but Dawn still loses points.
"Swablu, use Peck!" said Dawn. Swablu flies at Breloom and jabs it with her beak, doing lots of super effective damage, and making Kenny lose points.
"Breloom, try using Absorb!" said Kenny. Breloom tries to do so, but paralysis stops it, causing Kenny to lose points for having an attack fail.
"Swablu, use Fury Attack!" said Dawn. Swablu flies at Breloom and jabs it repeatedly with her beak; it was too much for Breloom and it passes out.
"Since Breloom is unable to battle, Swablu and Dawn are the winners!" said Marian.
"All right, we did it, Swablu!" cheered Dawn as Swablu flies over to her and wraps her wings around her trainer.
"Way to go, Dawn!" said Lincoln.
"That was so cool!" said Simon. Stella was watching the whole battle while taking notes for if she makes it to the next round.
Later, Stella and a boy with a red, bowl cut hairstyle, wearing an orange blazer over a red turtleneck, orange dress pants, and brown dress shoes named Harris were facing each other on the battle stage. Both coordinators each pull out a pokeball.
"Parasect, lets go!" said Harris, throwing a pokeball and releasing an orange, insectlike Pokemon with six legs, a pair of pincers, and a large mushroom on its back, followed by a swirl of red ribbons. Sam points her pokedex at the Pokemon.
"Parasect, the Mushroom Pokemon and the evolved form of Paras. It is controlled by the mushroom, which has grown larger than the bug body. It is said to prefer damp places." said Sam's pokedex.
"Combusken, you're up!" said Stella, throwing Combusken's pokeball and releases her, followed by a red flame that burned upward. "Combusken, use Ember followed by Aerial Ace!" Combusken releases a barrage of embers from her mouth at Parasect; she then flies at Parasect while surrounded by white streaks of light while pulling the embers alongside her and she rams Parasect while the embers hit it as well, doing massive damage due to Stella using two moves that are both super effective on both grass and bug type Pokemon, causing Harris to lose a lot of points due to Stella doing an impressive combination; Combusken suddenly begins twitching.
"You activated my Parasect's Effect Spore ability." said Harris. "It has the chance of inducing a Pokemon that physically attacks him with either the sleep, paralysis, or burn condition; looks like your Combusken's paralyzed." said Harris; fire surrounds Parasect's body.
"And it looks like your Parasect is burned." said Stella.
"Parasect, use Slash!" said Harris. Parasect leaps at Combusken and slashes her with one of its pincers, but not doing much damage due to burn weakening Parasect's attack strength, but still causing Stella to lose points.
"Combusken, use Flame Charge!" said Stella. Combusken fights through her paralysis and charges at Parasect while fire surrounds her body and she rams Parasect, dealing super effective damage; Parasect gets sent flying across the stage and lands near Harris' feet, unconscious.
"Because Parasect is unable to battle, Stella and Combusken are the winners." said Marian.
"Way to go, Combusken!" said Stella. Harris lowers his head and returns Parasect to its pokeball before storming off the stage. "Hey, don't be too upset."
"What a sore loser." said Luna.
"Yeah; but Stella was awesome!" cheered Lincoln. Stella turned towards Lincoln and does an air kiss towards him, making him smile. Back at Royal Woods, Stella's parents were cheering.
"Stella did it!" said Mrs. Zhau.
"She did an excellent job." said Mr. Zhau.
"She literally was incredible." said Lori.
"That Harris chump didn't stand a chance." said Lynn Jr. At the contest hall's waiting room, Dawn and Kenny were watching Stella's battle.
"Man, Stella's good." said Kenny. "She's definitely improved since the first time we battled."
"Yeah; but I improved too." said Dawn.
Lincoln's group head to the contest hall's lobby to meet up with Stella and Dawn.
"You two were awesome!" said Lincoln.
"You're both in the finals." said Luna.
"And don't think I'm gonna go easy on Dawn." said Stella.
"Don't, because I won't go easy on you." Dawn replied.
"Save it for the final round, you two." said Sam, making Stella and Dawn nod.
Later, in the battle area, Stella and Dawn were looking at each other with determination on their faces.
"I'm winning this contest, Dawn." said Stella.
"In your dreams." Dawn replied.
"And it looks like both our coordinators are ready." said Marian. "Let the final round of the Solaceon Contest begin!" Stella tosses her pokeball, letting out her Corsola in a cascade of bubbles; and Dawn tosses hers, letting out her Buneary in a blast of confetti.
"Corsola, use Tackle!" said Stella. Her Corsola leaps headfirst at Buneary.
"Buneary, use Defense Curl!" said Dawn. Her Buneary curls herself into a ball as Corsola collides with her, reducing the damage, but Dawn still loses points. "Now use Double Kick!" Her Buneary uncurls herself and lands two strong kicks on Corsola, doing super effective damage, and taking a good chunk of Stella's points away.
"Corsola, use Ancient Power!" said Stella. Her Corsola launches fossil-filled rocks at Buenary.
"Buneary, dodge and use Quick Attack!" said Dawn. Her Buneary weaves through the incoming rocks as she moves at Corsola with incredible speed and rams her, not doing much damage, but Stella loses a good amount of points, partly because of a failed attack.
"Corsola, use Bubble Beam!" said Stella. Her Corsola releases a barrage of bubbles from her mouth that hit Buneary.
"Buneary, use Baby-Doll Eyes, and follow up with Charm!" said Dawn. Her Buneary gets sparkly eyes, then gazes at Corsola, making her nervous and greatly weakening her attack power, along with taking points from Stella, thanks in part to using an appealing combination of moves.
"Corsola, use Tackle again!" said Stella. Her Corsola leaps at Buneary and slams into her, but thanks to Buneary's Baby-Doll Eyes/Charm combination, it didn't do a lot of damage, but it does make Dawn lose some points. Just when Dawn was about to announce another move, the buzzer goes off.
"Time's up." said Marian. Stella and Dawn look at the monitor at their point meters. "And the winner of the Solaceon Pokemon Contest is Dawn."
"Yippee!" cheered Dawn, jumping up while raising a fist. Stella looks with a stunned look on her face before it was replaced with a small smile; she walks to her saddened Corsola.
"Don't worry, Corsola; you did your best." said Stella.
"They both were amazing out there." said Lincoln.
"They sure were." said Simon. In the waiting room, Kenny looks at Dawn on the room's monitor with admiration in his eyes. Back at Royal Woods.
"Poor Stella." said Mrs. Zhau.
"She did her best; and I'm sure she's going to work hard for the next Pokemon Contest." said Mr. Zhau.
"I'm sure she will." said Rita.
Later, at the contest hall, Dawn and Buneary were standing in front of Raoul Contest who was holding out a small box with a gold, egg-shaped object with white and light purple ribbons on it towards Dawn; she takes the ribbon out of the box.
"I just won the Solaceon Ribbon!" said Dawn. Everyone in the contest hall applauded.
Later, at the lobby, Dawn and Stella, both in their regular attire met with Lincoln and the rest of the group.
"Congratulations, Dawn." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." replied Dawn, hugging Lincoln, making Stella frown. After breaking the hug, Stella turns Lincoln towards her and kisses him on the lips.
"That's my consolation prize." said Stella with a grin, making Lincoln blush. They then see Kenny walking over to them.
"Hey, Dee-Dee." said Kenny.
"Stop calling me that!" said Dawn.
"You didn't do too bad today." said Kenny. "But next contest we battle in, I'm going to win."
"We'll see." said Dawn, smirking. Kenny nods before walking out the contest hall doors. Dawn turned towards Stella. "Well, Stella; it looks like we're tied with two ribbons."
"Well, I'm going to break that tie with the next contest we enter." replied Stella.
Dawn has won her second contest ribbon. What else awaits her and the rest of the group as their Sinnoh journey continues?
