Gray-A metalsmith who doesn't talk much.

Mary-A librarian who is a bit quiet.

Saibara-Gray's grandfather who is a metalsmith.

Basil-Mary's father who is a plant enthusiast who wrote books on plants.

"Not good enough, Gray!" said a man aloud to another, younger man. "We're tasked to create silver wear today!"

He was in green and black with a yellow belt and hat and a beard.

"I'm attempting my best, Saibara!" said the young man. "I'm tired of this!"

He was in a white shirt with a dark blue jacket, red pants, blue eyes and short blonde hair.

He was about to leave the house.

"Leaving?" asked Saibara.

"I'm thinking about getting fresh air," said Gray.

Then he left.

A young lady was in the town library. She was organizing books on the shelves. Gray walked in, the library being a public place.

"Mary?" Gray asked the lady.

Mary, who had been on a ladder to reach the top shelves, found herself way.

She was in a sailor suite, big black braids in yellow thread and dark eyes and glasses.

"Yes, Gray?" asked Mary.

Gray stopped to see her face. He always surprised how stunning she was.

"I'd like a book on metalsmith," Gray said.

"Another one?" Mary asked

"Yes," said Gray. "This one about kitchen wear."

Mary went on the ladder, again. She swiveled it until the particular book was in reach. She got the book and went to give it to him.

"It's always nice when you visit," Mary said.

"You, too!" said Gray.

"How about you read my dad's work on plants?" asked Mary.

"Metal plants?" Gray asked.

"No, not that!" said Mary.

"Huh," said Gray. "That's more work! And it reminds me of Jennifer and Brandan."

Then, Mary's father walked in.

He was in a yellow hat and green feathers, a white shirt, a green shirt, a red bag, a black neckerchief, brunette hair and stubble.

"Hi, Mr. Basil!" said Gray.

"Nice to see you, Gray! I probably told you, but my and your grandfather are vastly different from one another!" Basil said.

"Meaning?" asked Gray.

"Metal and plants are different," said Basil. "May you please accomplish a favor for me?"

"Depends," said Gray.

"Maybe create metal flowers?" asked Basil.

"Hmm," said Gray. "I need to create silverware, but I'll be happy to create metal flowers when I'm free."

"Sounds like a deal!" said Basil.

They shook on it.

Mary smiled.

Then Gray got an idea!

Gray went out the library.

He had a job to accomplish.

"I want to create jewelry!" Gray asked Saibara the very same day.

"It's for a woman, isn't it?" Saibara asked.

"Able to tell?" asked Gray.

"I'm able to tell," said Saibara.

"Well, may I?!" asked Gray.

"Not until we're over our commissioned plans!" said Saibara.

"Okay," said Gray in disappointment.

That night, Gray got the equipment for Saibara and his' job and remained as quiet as he may. He locked the door, in case.

He created a wonderful gift for the woman as he may muster.

Then Gray heard a loud knock on the door.

"Let me in!" the voice of Saibara called.

Gray stuffed the presents under his pillow.

Then he left Saibara in.

"Why are you accomplishing something in the middle of the night?!" Saibara said, demanding.

"I-I was practicing?" Gray asked aloud, drawing straws.

'If you want to create, create in the morning!" said Saibara. "And you should realize I'll be home all day tomorrow, so there."

As he left, he slammed the door behind him.

"How will I show Mary her presents, now?": Gray asked himself.

The next day, Gray was pacing around the room. He did not have an idea of what to accomplish.

Then he heard people talking.

"Is Gray here?" asked Mary.

"He's in his room," said Saibara.

Mary soon joined him.

Gray hid the present. He was waiting for the right moment.

"I'm here to give you this," said Mary as she got out a flower.

"A carnation?" Gray asked as she handed him it.

"A red carnation!" said Mary. "Carnations stand for love!"

"Y-You love me?" Gray asked.

"Of course!" said Mary. "You see me all the time in the library! I love your visits."

"I love to see you, too!" said Gray.

"You say so all the time!" said Mary.

"You, too!" said Gray as he got out the other gift.

"It's a metal bracelet!" Gray said.

"It's wonderful!" said Mary. "But, we really should present presents to each other out of our comfort zones."

"Meaning?" asked Gray.

"I think I should create a metal gift and you create a flower gift!" Mary said. "Well, I got to go!"

"So soon?" asked Gray.

Mary grinned. "I have something else for you! For later!"

Mary left.

And Gray got to work.

Mary went home to create a special gift for Gray. It was already dark. Basil went to see her.

"I see the work involving this," he said.

"Well, tell nobody!" Mary said with a harsh whisper.

"I won't," Basil said.

He presented her with a candle.

"Light," he said.

So, Mary worked late into the evening

Gray, too, was accomplising something late into the night.

"I'll add a super growth formula to it so I may have it grow even more and faster, too!"

Saibara went to him.

"Really?" he asked. "This time of night? That girl? Who?"

Gray thought it would be worse to hide. "Her name is Mary."

"The town librarian?" asked Saibara.

"Yes," said "Mary. And I no longer care what you think! I'm about to be with her. If she'll allow."

"All right," said Saibara. "Please, allow yourself."

The next day, Gray and Mary went halfway between their respective dwellings.

"I have a present for you," said Gray.

"I have one for you, too!" said Mary.

Both got out the gifts.

It was a metal blue feather. And a flower that looked like a blue feather.

"The flower is a bluestem grass," said Gray. "I painted it blue."

"This is a metal blue feather," said Mary. "I also painted it blue,"

"Mary?" asked Gray.

"Yes?" asked Mary.

"Will you marry me?" asked Gray.

Mary embraced him. "Of course!"

So, they were soon married!

Father Carter, once again, officiated the wedding.

"Gray, would you please start?" said Carter.

Gray presented his flower blue feather.

"Mary, I may say, even though it doesn't feel like we have anything I'm common, but that's furthest from the truth. I love you!"

Gray presented the blue-painted feather to Mary.

Mary presented her metal blue feather.

"Gray, I may say, I enjoy how you always visited me at the library. You always had me feel belonging. I love you!"

Mary presented the blue-painted feather to Gray.

Gray and Mary walked the aisle.

Naomi went up to them.

"Either of you ever see a little boy around here who liked to. To climb trees?" she spoke of something that also happened in her childhood.

"Yes!" said Gray and Mary at the same time.

"Know his name?!"

The two looked at each other.

"No," they said.

"Never mind," Naomi said as she walked away.

So, Gray and Mary were married.

But Naomi and her family had a ways to go.
