"So, where do you want to be sorted?" Sirius asked his new friends. "Gryffindor, just like my dad." James immediately replied. "I don't know, really. Didn't think I'd be going to Hogwarts." Remus said, glancing out the window.

"Why's that?" James asked the boy. Remus froze. "Oh, no reason. Just thought I was more like my mum." Sirius glanced at the boy curiously. "Ohh, you're halfblood, aren't you?" Remus nodded at James's question.

"Hey, at least you knew about magic. I didn't even know what it was until a professor showed up at my door and said I'd been invited to a school for magic." Peter said. Sirius smiled to himself. Oh, how much of a fit his mother would be having right now if she knew he was talking to blood traitors and muggle borns.

"Wait, so you don't know about the houses?" James asked, shocked. Peter nodded. "Okay, well there are four houses. Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin." James made a face when he said the last one. "Gryffindor is for the brave, Ravenclaw for the smart, Hufflepuff for the kind, and Slytherin for the evil."

"I wouldn't say that." Sirius said. "One of my cousins, Andromeda, is in Slytherin and she's really nice." "Doesn't your family ask to be put there though?" Remus asked. Sirius nodded. "Not me, though. I'm gonna let the hat decide for itself."

James turned back to Peter. "So, what house do you think?" Peter chewed his lip. "I dunno. Maybe Hufflepuff or something. Does it really matter?" James gasped. "I can't believe you just said that."

"Give him a break, James. He's just learned that this all existed. Plus, the hat chooses, not you." Remus said. James held up his hands in a mock surrender. "Fine, fine."

"Anything from the trolley, dears?" The witch peeked her head in the doorway, pushing a cart full of sweets. Sirius gaped at the amount of sweets there were. His mother would be so displeased, for she never let any in the house.

Remus pulled out a couple sickles. "Two chocolate frogs, please." The witch took the sickles from him and counted. "Sorry, hon, you're a bit short." Remus frowned. "Oh, then just the one frog, please."

"Nonsense." Sirius said. Remus looked at him quizzically. Sirius pulled out his pouch of coins and took out too many galleons to count. "We'll take the lot." Sirius said. Remus tried to protest as Sirius handed the coins over. "What are friends for?" Sirius said to him.

Remus's face flushed slightly, but he smiled at Sirius. "Thanks, mate." James said as he and Sirius took the sweets from the witch. Sirius grinned. He'd never had his own friends before and it was nice to know that he had some.

Peter gasped at all the different sweets. "What is all this stuff?" James quickly went on to explain all the different sweets to Peter. Sirius glanced at Remus, who was quietly nibbling on a chocolate frog.

"Honestly, take some." Sirius said to him. Remus laughed. "One thing at a time!" Sirius threw a box of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans at him, making him laugh again. "Food fight!" James yelled. Sirius looked at him quizzically.

James shrugged. "I saw it in a movie." Before Sirius knew it, sweets were flying in every direction, all of the boys laughing. There was a mess everywhere.

Suddenly, the door burst open. The boys turned to see a girl with long, bright red hair and green eyes in front of them. "Will you four shut it? If you haven't noticed, the compartments aren't soundproof." The boys stared at her for a second. "We're just having a bit of fun." James replied. "Lily. Let's just go back to the compartment." Sirius looked to see a boy with dark, greasy black hair covering his face.

"We should probably clean up. Sorry for disturbing you." Remus said to the girl. "Don't apologize to her! We did nothing wrong!" James protested. The girl, Lily, glared at James becore slamming the compartment door shut and storming off. The quiet boy followed her away.

"I was just trying to be nice." Remus said to James. "Yeah, we were kinda making a lot of noise." Peter said. James sighed. "Whatever. We might as well clean this up." Sirius nodded. "We should change too. I expect we'll be arriving soon.
