As the train rolled to a stop, Sirius and his friends were practically jumping with excitement. They had just finished gathering all their stuff and getting into their robes when the announcement had gone off that they would be arriving.

James was the first one out of the train. Sirius walked out after him, followed by Remus. Peter came out last, tripping over a rock and tumbling into a Slytherin sixth year. "Watch it!" The girl yelled.

The girl turned. Of course, it had to be Narcissa, Sirius's cousin. Her prefect badge shone brightly on her robes as she stared down at Peter, her long blond hair flowing down her back. Remus and James rushed to help Peter up. Narcissa turned, spotting Sirius.

"Of course it's you." Sirius muttered under his breath. "Sirius!" Narcissa said, her voice sickeningly sweet. "How good to see you. Don't tell me you know these... students." She said. Sirius looked up at her, smirking. "Actually, those are my friends you're talking about." Narcissa made a sound.

"Hm. Wonder what Auntie Walburga would think of this. Wouldn't you rather be friends with, what's the word, more influential people?" Sirius crossed his arms. "I'm good where I am. Nice to see you, Cissy."

Narcissa glanced at the three boys, now watching the interaction. She stepped closer to Sirius, grabbing his arm. Sirius saw her expression change, softer.

"Sirius, you know I care about you. I just don't want to see you get hurt." Narcissa said, gently. Sirius rolled his eyes. He couldn't believe the act she was putting on. "I'm serious." "No, I'm Sirius." Narcissa sighed. "Now, if you don't mind, I'm going to catch up with my friends. See you at the welcome feast."

Sirius pulled his arm out of her grip and walked back over to James, Remus, and Peter. "Are you alright, Peter?" Peter nodded. "Sorry about Cissy. She's, well, a Black." James put a hand on his shoulder. "It's good, mate. What was that about anyways?" "Nothing. Just some family drama." Sirius replied.

"First years! This way!" Sirius looked to see the tallest man he'd ever seen rounding up all the first years. He had an accent that Sirius couldn't place. The boys quickly rushed over to where the man stood. "Ah, that should be the lot of ya. Rubeus Hagid, groundskeeper of Hogwarts. You lot can call me Hagrid." The tall man said.

"Now, don't want ta miss the sorting ceremony, do we? Come on then." The first years followed Hagrid. Sirius noticed Lily and the greasy haired boy among the students. "Ev'ryone on a boat, c'mon then." Hagrid led the first years down to the lake, where boats sat on the shore.

"I'm not getting on that! My hair will get wet!" One girl said. Sirius rolled his eyes. He didn't get what the big deal was, he had longer hair too and didn't mind it getting a bit wet. Plus, Andromeda had told him the boats were enchanted, so he assumed that meant he wouldn't be splashed.

James hopped onto one of the boats, pulling Sirius out of his thoughts. He hopped on after him, Remus following. Peter stood on the side. "Are you sure it's safe?" He asked Hagrid. "O course it is. It's magic. Go on then." Hagrid gave him a gentle push, but it sent him tumbling into the boat. Sirius grabbed his arm and pulled him in. "Thanks." The boy squeaked.

Once everyone was on a boat, Hagrid climbed into one. "Off we go." He said as the boats started to move themselves. Sirius watched as several students gasped at the magic.

The girl from the train, Lily, must be muggleborn, Sirius thought to himself. He watched as she looked around curiously, taking in the sights. "Sev! This is so cool!" She said to the greasy haired boy. The boy, Sev, must be at least halfblood, for he looked kind of impressed, but not that much. Definitely a Slytherin, Sirius thought.

Sirius turned back to his friends. Peter still looked a bit nervous, while Remus and James looked around. Sirius leaned over go Peter. "I've heard that the giant squid comes out and takes unsuspecting students." Sirius whispered to him. Peter gasped. James stifled a laugh beside him.

Suddenly, Sirius felt something grab his arm. He screamed and looked down. It was just Remus's hand. He looked at Remus. "Sorry, had to." He said with a small smile. James and Peter laughed. "All good ov'r there, lads?" Hagrid called. "Yes!" All the boys yelled, grinning.

"Woah! Look at that!" Peter said, pointing. Sirius turned to see a tall castle in front of them. He had heard the stories of Hogwarts, but it was nothing like seeing it in person. It was, to put it simply, magical. The boat pulled itself onto the shore and Hagrid started to gather the starstruck students. "C'mon then, don't want to miss the sorting ceremony!"
