The clock was ticking, and the hustle and bustle of Stars Hollow was picking up. As the day unfolded, the secret wedding team began to assemble in full force.
At the Gilmore house, Rory and Logan sat on the couch, nerves and excitement swirling as they looked at each other, trying to process everything happening so quickly. Rory had barely finished updating Lorelai when there was a knock at the door.
Lorelai was already at the town square making sure the final details were being taken care of, so it was up to Logan and Rory to greet the guests arriving for the big surprise.
"That must be Finn and Honor," Rory said, standing up quickly. She smoothed out her dress and took a deep breath. "I guess this is really happening."
Logan smiled at her, his hand gently resting on her arm. "It's happening, Ace. And I'm glad it's with you."
Rory opened the door to find Finn standing there, looking as stylish as ever, with Honor right behind him, carrying something that looked like it could be precious cargo.
"Well, well, well," Finn said, looking Rory up and down with a playful smirk. "A surprise wedding, eh? And the bride looks stunning already."
"Finn, you look… incredible as usual," Rory said, unable to hide a grin.
"Thank you, darling," he said with a wink. "And look, I brought the tuxedo. Logan's going to be the best-dressed man at the wedding. Or should I say, the most dashing groom?"
Honor stepped forward, holding a small velvet box in her hand. "And I've got these." She handed the box over to Rory, her voice softening a bit. "These were my brother's and my grandfather's. They're both part of our family history, and I'm so happy they're part of this special day."
Rory opened the box to reveal two rings—one simple and classic, the other a bit more ornate, but both beautiful in their own right. Her eyes welled up as she looked up at Honor.
"Thank you, Honor. You don't know how much this means to me. I promise, I'll take care of them."
"I know you will," Honor replied, her smile warm. "Logan couldn't have picked anyone better."
Before Rory could say anything more, there was a second knock at the door. This time, it was Collin and Steph, looking equally excited and a little out of breath.
"Sorry we're late," Collin said, holding up a garment bag. "We got a little delayed, but we've got something very important with us."
Steph stepped forward and unzipped the bag. Inside was a light blue dress, delicate and beautiful in a way that made Rory gasp. It was the dress she had worn years ago at one of the LDB events—the one she had almost forgotten about until now.
"Steph?" Rory asked, her voice trembling slightly. "Is this… the dress?"
Steph nodded, a soft, almost nostalgic smile on her face. "You gave it to me after you and Logan broke up. I held on to it, hoping one day I could return it to you. And today seems like the perfect day."
Rory couldn't hold back the tears as she took the dress from her. It was perfect. It wasn't a traditional wedding dress, but it was special, meaningful. She could feel the memories of the past flooding back.
"Thank you," Rory whispered to both Collin and Steph. "This means more than you know."
Logan stood behind her, his arms around her shoulders. "You look beautiful no matter what you wear, Ace."
Before anyone could speak further, Rory felt the urge to call her best friends. She quickly stepped into the kitchen and grabbed her phone.
"Hey, Lane!" Rory said when Lane picked up. "I have a huge update—Logan and I are getting married today."
"What?!" Lane's voice cracked in disbelief. "Today? Are you serious? I thought you two were still figuring things out!"
"We were," Rory said, her voice soft. "But now we're not. We're doing this today. It's going to be small and… unexpected. But it's happening. Will you come?"
"Of course, I'll be there! Oh my gosh, I can't believe it!" Lane replied, her excitement clear even through the phone. "I'll get everything ready and see you soon. I'm so happy for you two."
After hanging up with Lane, Rory immediately called Paris.
"Paris, I have news," Rory said, trying to keep her tone light. "Logan and I are getting married today. I know it's sudden, but it's happening."
"What?!" Paris's voice was full of surprise. "You're getting married? Today? What happened to all the drama? And the time for planning?"
"It's a long story, but the short version is: we're doing this. And I want you there, Paris. Please."
"I'll be there," Paris replied, her voice a little softer now. "I'll get dressed and head over. Can't wait to see you walk down the aisle."
Rory hung up the phone, her heart swelling with warmth as she thought of the friends who had always supported her. This might not have been the wedding she'd imagined, but it was the one she was going to have, and it was perfect.
Meanwhile, Lorelai was busy making calls herself. She had already spoken to Honor and gotten the ring situation sorted out, but now she had to deal with Emily and Christopher.
Lorelai reached for her phone and called Emily first, her nerves building. She hadn't been able to get ahold of Christopher yet, and she knew Emily would have a lot to say.
"Hello?" Emily answered, her voice sharp as usual.
"Mom, I need to talk to you," Lorelai said, her tone serious. "Rory and Logan are getting married today. It's happening, and I need you to be here."
"What do you mean, they're getting married today?" Emily asked, sounding flustered. "Why was I not informed? What's going on?"
"It's a long story," Lorelai replied, trying to keep her voice calm. "But yes, they're getting married today, and we need to be supportive. Please come to Stars Hollow as soon as possible."
Emily was silent for a moment before sighing. "Fine. I'll be there. But this is… unexpected. I'll see you soon."
Lorelai ended the call and immediately tried reaching Christopher. After a few rings, his voicemail picked up.
"Chris, it's Lorelai," she said, her voice a little softer. "I know this is going to sound crazy, but Rory and Logan are getting married today. I need you to come to Stars Hollow as soon as you can. I'll explain everything when you get here."
Lorelai sighed as she hung up the phone. She had done her best to make sure everything was in motion, but there was so much more to handle. Everyone needed to be here to make this day unforgettable.
As she walked back into the living room, she found Finn, Honor, Collin, and Steph talking to Logan and Rory, who were busy preparing for the big day. Lorelai couldn't help but smile at the chaotic, but strangely perfect, scene.
"Everything's going to be fine," Lorelai murmured to herself as she sat down, trying to gather the energy for the whirlwind of a day.
