The van trundled on through the sheer empty of the midwest. Empty, that is, aside from grass. Luiz had his jaw locked around the antenna of the van trying to not get blown off by the rushing air. Jewel was sitting on the van roof behind him, sheltered from the wind and sleeping peacefully on the roof.

"Joow," Luiz tried to say ,"i dink you Shoog moof."

Luiz looked fearfully at the Car antennae that was beginning to bend and make concerning crunchy sounds.

Suddenly it snapped off and luiz began to slide down the length of the van. As he slid his back collided with Jewel and they both went tumbling towards the edge of the van.

Jewel slammed her beak into the roof of the car but it wasn't enough, the two travellers continued to slide off the van, Jewel's beak scratching deep into the paint and making an awful, bone grating sound like nails on a blackboard.

The two slid off the back of the truck, trying frantically to grab onto anything. Luis madly thrashed in the spinning air and fell down onto the dusty road. He rolled along the ground for a few metres before rolling at a certain angle which launched him back to his feet, leaving a slightly shellshock and bruised luiz standing in the middle of the road.

Jewel on the other hand flapped her one good wing frantically, spinning in an off balance ellipse, just behind the van. Just as the vehicle seemed to be driving out of reach, she reached out with her talons and sunk the tips into the plastic of the rear end bumper with the sheep force of her adrenaline.

"Goodluck!'' Luiz yelled, slowly shrinking away as the van continued on. Jewel unstuck her claws from the plastic bumper and began to try and scale the back of the van. She used her beak to latch onto the little handle on the back of the van and swing her foot up onto the window wipers for the rear view window. She hung upside down for a few moments and caught her breath.

Suddenly Jewel saw the flash of a hand out of the corner of her eye. She squawked and tried to dodge the incoming limb but being upside down made her a sitting duck.

"I got the bird!" said the man grabbing Jewel, her broken wing igniting in a burst of pain "we're gonna be rich."

The two highfived as the capture sat back down into his seat, Jewel in his hand.

The driver looked back at the road and immediately panicked as he saw another car heading straight for him.
