~Lucia~
A lot of things changed since Valentine's Day, more people were being petrified, rules were getting stricter, and parents were pulling their children out left and right. Yesterday Bethany Biddlecrumb was all but dragged out of the great hall by her harpy of a mother, it would've been hilarious if it weren't for the situation.
"Luci, you betting?" Cyrus asked as I took my usual spot in the common room. "You're still taking bets?" I asked astonished. "What about it?" He shrugged, "not like this curse nonsense affects us, we're not muggle borns." I slapped him upside the head. "They're being petrified, Cyrus, surely even you must be smart enough to realize the gravity of this situation," I spat. "I know it's serious," he sighed, "I'm just trying to have a little fun with the situation, trying to still enjoy my life you know?" I sighed. "I know, doesn't make it less insensitive," I told him. He nodded his agreement.
"I'm sorry I hit you," I apologized. "It's fine, I deserved it for being an arse," he shrugged, "it's just hard to be sympathetic when we're all being coddled for something that doesn't even affect us." I nodded. "Yeah, I get that," I told him. By now all of his friends had abandoned him in favor of starting another betting pool.
"So how's things with Harry?" He asked. I groaned, "He's insufferable!" He laughed, "So he's just like you then?" He asked causing me to hit him again. "Git," I muttered, "why do I even still talk to you?" "Because I'm your boyfriend's best friend," he said smugly, "and your best friend's boyfriend." "In your dreams Ozzy," I scoffed using the nickname from when we were eleven.
I remember Blair, Cynthia, and I used to relentlessly tease and prank him and Marcus. Of course at the time they had no idea it was because I liked Marcus, but my father did. He drafted a marriage contract between us, and now soon enough my boyfriend will become my fiancé. Everything's fricking perfect!

"Luci!" Harry shouted. "Cia!" Draco yelled running towards me from the opposite direction. "What's up?" I asked them, "who first?" "Did you hear what happened to the mudblood?" Draco asked. "A lot of things have happened to a lot of mudbloods, you'll have to be more specific," I informed him, ignoring Harry's angry face. "Hermione was petrified, and she's not a mudblood," Harry sneered.
I grimaced at that. Sure I warned the trio that something like this would happen, but I never wished for it. Petrification isn't something I'd wish on anyone, no matter how insufferable. "Isn't it great?!" Draco laughed, "the most insufferable mudblood is finally gone!" I smacked him upside the head. "Mudblood or not, petrification is serious," I scolded, "it's not a laughing matter."
He bowed his head and I ruffled his hair turning to Harry. "Have you seen her yet?" I asked him. He shook his head. "Well cmon then," I told him, "you stay out of trouble, I'll be back in the common room later," I told Draco. He scowled at Harry, but still went on his way to wherever he was going.
I ushered Harry to the hospital wing ignoring the funny looks and whispers that susurrated throughout the school. I couldn't help but smirk at them though. It wasn't every day you saw a Gryffindor and Slytherin together, especially not Harry Potter. "What are you doing here, get out," Madame Pomfrey shouted. "We're here to see Hermione, well he is anyway," I said motioning to my brother. "Harry," she sighed, "fine, five minutes and then you must leave." "That's all we need," I assured her.
I watched solemnly as Harry talked to Hermione in her petrified state. I couldn't help but frown when Madame Pomfrey told us we had to leave. "Cmon Harry, perhaps you can visit her tomorrow," I said softly. "But-" "-In order for Hermione to get better we need to let the healers heal her, now Cmon," I cut him off as I lead him out of the hospital wing.

"No roaming the halls after dinner unless you have astronomy, all students will be escorted to classes by their teachers, anyone seen outside the common room after curfew will earn three weeks worth of detention during their free period, all students will now be having free period either in the common room or the library with teacher supervision, and finally all extracurricular activities are hereby suspended until further notice," Uncle Sev listed at our common room meeting.
Predictably, a string of protests erupted in response to my uncle's announcement. "SILENCE!!!" He shouted, "this is not up for debate." We all groaned as he slammed the common room door shut. "Lucia," Ingrid Powdresss called. "Yes?" I acknowledged the fifth year. "Do you know why this is happening?" She asked. Why would I know the truth?
"The rumor is that someone's died, and they're not a mudblood either," I answered. "Halfblood?" Bella Phlegm guessed. I shook my head, "Pureblood," I corrected. Everyone gasped and for good reason. It was easy to ignore it when it was just cats and mudbloods, but a pureblood? That meant that any of us could be next no matter what our blood is.
"From now on we take this seriously!" Gemma Farley, our fifth year prefect announced, "if it's affecting purebloods now then that means it could very well affect us, no one's safe anymore." "We stay together, we protect each other, no one goes anywhere alone!" Nigel Ridley, the other fifth year prefect, continued. We nodded our understanding. "And quidditch is cancelled, that means no practice, got that Flint?" Graham Montague, our 6th year prefect, clarified. "Yea I got it, I got it," Marcus nodded. I laughed as he jutted his lip out like a small angry child.
Still despite his obvious disappointment with the early end of our quidditch season I could tell he was nervous. For good reason too. None of us were immune anymore, we had to be on high alert from now on since it wasn't just discriminating against mudbloods, it was attacking everyone. There was now a cloud of nervousness throughout our common room. It was so tense that even the betting pool shut down. Shit has officially hit the fan.
