White Sand Ch. 7

John watched as the sun started to set behind the horizon, he was still amazed that even after almost 53 years living on this island it still took his breath away. Feeling the heat rising from the sands, he wiggled his toes deeper, nothing was more relaxing to him than being able to sit on the shore and have his toes in the warm sand. It was a luxury to be able to just step off his porch and find himself in a tropical paradise, hell people came from all over the world to be able to spend a few days here.

Sparing a glance around him, smiling at the pristine white beach, the turquoise-colored water and the giant palms swaying in the breeze. It was like living in a damn postcard and yet not only his big brother and only kid felt the need to move across the country to the Artic tundra. While he could see the appeal of visiting a place like Maine, the idea of living there was unimaginable, at least to him.

While it wasn't his cup of tea, he couldn't deny that he could see the difference in his baby girl, every time they video chatted, he could see her joy and that made him happy. That, however, didn't stop him from worrying about how she was managing herself or if she was constantly finding her way to cold waters to calm herself.

He was sure that if Jake was around when she had an episode, his big brother would have said something but maybe not, he thought that her abilities were relatively cool. "Damn it." He muttered to himself.

Intrusive thoughts started to pop into his head, was she being smart? Was she keeping her emotions in check? And more importantly, is this Aquaman really the best person for her to be with? It was the last thought that really had him worried, while on the surface he was a hero or at least gifted, if they hit it off and wanted a life together would bringing a gifted child into the world really be the best idea?

Sighing, he knew that they talked about her having kids at length, while she wanted to be a mother, they (with a little push from him) decided that having a child would be too dangerous. He wanted to have grandkids, but the thought of them being like her, he just didn't think he could go through that again, it was just too damn stressful to deal with.

"Fuck." He hissed. He knew that the only reason that he had to think like this when it came to his kid was because of her mother. There was a lot that he blamed her for, but nothing compared to the hate that filled him knowing that it was something in her family genetics that must have caused Davy's issues. Perhaps it wouldn't have been so bad if she had stuck around, but instead she literally snuck out of the hospital in the middle of the night with nothing more than a little note on the pillow that read, 'I'm sorry.'

Shaking his head clear, with everything else that he had running through this head, the last thing that he really needed was to think about Laila, she abandoned him, their daughter and God only knows where the fuck she ended up.

Smoothing down his grey beard, John knew that he needed to book a flight out there as soon as possible, if only to just make sure that she was sticking to their plan, but the idea of heading to Maine in November wasn't really appealing. However, he knew that if he didn't intervene between her and Arthur and their carefully laid plans to keep whatever genetic issues caused her gifts from continuing, it would all be for nothing. It hurt him to think like that, she was his only daughter, and he did love her dearly, but no child deserved to grow up as a genetic anomaly.

Rolling his neck, making the choice to ignore the idea of winter, John knew that he needed to see her in person before this little romance turned into something more serious. Huffing, it was painful for him to do, hell, it wasn't the first time he had to intervene in her relationship, but Will made it so easy by being himself. In truth he thought Will was the perfect guy for her, from the moment he met the young man he knew that he wasn't looking to be serious with anyone, but when Davy started talking about marriage and moving in, he knew that he needed to put a stop to it.

The sad part about the whole thing that it was so fucking easy, John saw him a few times coming out of Lucy's house and when she started talking about falling in love. Shaking his head, he knew that it was the right thing to do, it broke his heart knowing that he was the reason for her heartbreak. He just hoped he wouldn't have to do it again, after her breakup with Will it took her a long time to smile, especially after her episode at the falls, she barely came out of her room.

Rubbing his temples, groaning a bit at the pressure building behind his eyes, moving to stand John made his way back into his home and straight for the computer, knowing that it would take a few days for him to arrange his trip, but he knew that it was imperative to keep her on track.

"Brat, you good?" Jake asked her.

Sitting on the edge of the dock, Davy watched as the mayor gave his thanks to the demolition crew that set the charges to sink the ship. Looking over her shoulder, smiling up at her uncle, "I'm fine," moving to stand she found him looking down at her concern in his eyes, "never seen a demolition crew setup to blow something, kind of fascinating."

Jake wrapped his arm around her, placing a kiss on the top of her head, "I'm sure it's going to be pretty spectacular." Tilting his head, "But how are they going to keep the metal pieces from blasting up and out towards the town?"

Snorting, that was the first thing that she thought of. "You know I asked that same question." Turning her eyes towards the ship, "Turns out, they line the bottom of the hull, blow a few holes and let the water do the rest."

"Huh, that's pretty cool." Looking around the dock, Jake didn't see Arthur. "Where's the King of the Sea?" he asked, his voice teasing. But it was the blush on her face that had him smiling, "You know for a someone that runs hot, you've been blushing, a lot."

Pushing his arm, "Shut up, please." Linking her arm with his, she turned them around and headed towards her Jeep, "As for Arthur, he and his mom are in the waters now telling the animals that they should leave the area in the morning, just in case they didn't set the charges correctly."

"Really, like talking to the whales? His mom too?" Jake was amazed.

Chuckling a bit, Davy could understand that look on his face, hell she sported it still when she watched them do things. "No, as far as I know, he's the only one that can hear and communicate with the sea life." Leaning against her Jeep, she could see that his brain was going in a million different directions, "But I'm sure you didn't come here to talk about that, what's up uncle?"

His eyes softened as he looked down at her, always observant to the world around her. "Your dad is coming in a few days." Johnny didn't want to let her know, but honestly, Jake was way too old to be playing games, especially with a 25-year-old woman. Frowning a bit when her face fell a bit, "Brat, don't worry, he probably just misses you."

Davy wanted to believe that, but it's been almost 5 months since they've seen each other, and frankly she is surprised that it took him this long to make the trip out here. Crossing her arms, it was hard not to see the signs of the reasons why she spoke to him a few days ago about Arthur, and now he just had to come visit her. Sighing, "Maybe."

"Maybe? You really think he doesn't love you?" A little surprised that was how she felt about Johnny.

Waving her hand, "No, I know he loves me." Turning her eyes towards the water, enjoying how the falling snow gave it a serene feel. "He asked me a few days ago how things were going with Arthur, I told him that I really cared about him, and perhaps there was something to build on. Now, a man who detests the cold is coming when the snow is sticking to the ground." Glancing around, smiling as the roofs of the town started to look like a Rockwell Kent painting.

Chewing his inner cheek, Jake couldn't help but think why she would think that. "Davy, did something happen with my brother?"

Looking down at the slushy snow, "Nothing happened, really." Kicking it away from her boot, "It's just that he and I want different things, but dad's right, there are just somethings that I can't do or have." Perhaps she needed to end it with Arthur, because there was just one thing that she couldn't give him, kids.

Frowning, "What the hell do you mean, what can't you do or have?" Taking ahold of her shoulders, his eyes staring into her golden ones, "Davina Olsen, you will answer me, what the hell did my brother get you to agree to?" he asked again, fear and anger filling his voice.

Davy could feel tears starting to well up in her eyes, turning her eyes towards her feet, she knew that her uncle wasn't going to drop this. Exhaling deeply, Davy slowly lifted her eyes towards his, "He said that it would be too dangerous for me to have children of my own." Flinching at the sound of his angered hiss, but that was nothing compared to the growled emanating behind her.

Spinning on her heels, Davy could feel her heart starting to pound in her chest as she watched him make his way towards her, his anger clearly stamped on his face. "Arthur?"

Arthur could feel his blood boiling, her fucking father had her so convinced that she was dangerous that he had her believing that she shouldn't have kids. He could see it in her eyes, the fear, and that only seemed to piss him off even more. Not stopping until he was merely inches from her, Arthur wrapped her in his arms and pulled her into his chest, desperate for her to know that he was in no way angry with her.

Kissing the top of her head, his eyes found Jake watching him, "I don't care if he's your brother or her dad, he ever says that shit to her again, I will break his fucking neck." Feeling her tears on his chest, he stepped back just enough so that he could look into her eyes, using his thumbs to wipe the tears from her eyes, "Baby, I don't care he's your dad, I won't let anyone speak to you like that again." Meaning that with every fiber of his being, she was his everything and he would protect her from anyone that would cause her pain.

Leaning into his hand, Davy was overwhelmed with emotions, there were only two people that really stood up for her, her nana and uncle. "Arthur…" leaning into his hand, Davy found him looking down at her, with concern in his eyes. It was in that moment she knew, truly knew that she loved him.

"Arthur… I …." But before she could finish, a deep laugh came from above them, gasping at the sight of the black armored suit hovering above them.

"Well, well, does that red head bitch know?"

Pushing her behind him, Arthur turned his eyes focusing on the Manta suit that he once ripped apart. "How's your dad?" he growled out. Using his body, Arthur pushed her a little closer to her uncle, knowing that he needed to have him completely focused on him.

"NEVER SPEAK OF HIM YOU MURDERER!" Pointing his arm towards the biggest building in sight, he watched as the laser hit it, setting the thing ablaze.

Davy watched in horror as the flames slowly moved over the building, but it was the sound of a child screaming that had her running.

David watched as the little blonde darted towards the building, but as he turned back towards that fish, he felt himself being hit and flung back. Quickly righting himself, he watched as the man launched himself at him again, using his laser eyes he watched in great pleasure as that fucking bastard was sent flying back. Not wanting to lose momentum, he flew a bit towards him, bringing his fist across his face, remembering from his last fight with the fucking bastard that it was the swords that did the most damage.

Spitting out blood, Arthur barely moved as a sword came close to his face, rolling back and grabbing the arm that was coming back towards his face. Twisting it, he used his elbow against the helmet several times, hoping to hear the fucking thing crack but no matter how hard it didn't.

Ducking under the other arm, he hissed as the second blade cut across his shoulder, rolling to his side, Arthur barely dodged the armored foot that was aiming at his face. Swinging his leg, Arthur connected with his ankle knocking him on this ass, using the momentum he brought his fist across the helmet. Moving to get on top of him, Arthur brought his fists down, doing everything he could to break through, but Atlantean steel was one of the strongest metals on earth.

Reaching for the hose he was almost able to yank them, however, the sword attached to his arm caught him on the side and he felt himself being tossed off.

David stood slowly, smirking at the sight of the great Aquaman clutching his side, holding out his arms, so sure of his victory. "Made some improvements." Focusing his eye beams on him, laughing as it launched the fish a good 20ft in the air. Launching himself after him, refusing to let that bastard to get back on top of him, "It's not going to be easy, fish!" he yelled out.

Spitting out the blood that was pooling in his mouth, Arthur slowly brushed himself off, knowing that refusing to show this asshole anything but uninterest would piss him off. Glancing at the shit around him, his truck the only thing in reach, reaching behind him he lifted it and tossed it. Seeing it airborne, Arthur ran at him, knowing that the truck wasn't enough to incapacitate him. When he was less than a foot from him, Arthur launched himself in the air, bringing his fist down on the side of the helmet which caused one of the laser eyes to break.

Seeing him hit the ground, Arthur took ahold of his ankle, and he lifted him over his hand and slammed him several times into the ground. His control was short lived, however, before he was able to bring him back around into the ground, the one remaining laser eye blasted him towards the docks. "Fuck." He muttered out.

Davy found herself looking at the burning building, the first floor was completely engulfed, and the flames were slowly making their way up to the second. Looking around, she found Atlanna checking the people that were now standing outside of the general store.

"Is everyone out?" she asked her.

Glancing around, Atlanna didn't see that anyone was looking for anyone, "I believe so." Patting one of the children, she moved to Davina's side, "You need to put this fire out before it spreads to the rest of the town." Frustrated that with all her gifts, she was not blessed with the ability to manipulate water. Placing her hand on her shoulders, "I wouldn't ask you to expose yourself, but these people need you."

Exhaling slowly, Davy hated that everyone would soon know that she was a freak amongst them, but no matter how uncomfortable she was if she didn't do this these wonderful people would lose everything. Turning towards her uncle, "I have to try." She said, worried that he would tell her not to.

Placing a kiss on her forehead, "Do what you can brat." He had always been proud of her but seeing her step up to save this building and possibility the rest of this little town, he couldn't be happier. Stepping back, he pushed the people back, "Give her some room."

Nodding towards him, she turned her attention towards the building, with a last glance over towards Atlanna, "Step back, please." Worried that she was going to hurt her friend.

"I need to secure the perimeter, in case that man brought help." Placing a kiss on her forehead, Atlanna moved swiftly through the crowd, worried that he would use another distraction to use against her son.

Davy watched as Atlanna moved swiftly towards the edge of the town, knowing that she would be back sooner rather than later. Turning her attention towards the building in front of her, letting out a deep sigh, Davy lifted her hand towards the flames. Closing her eyes, she focused on the heat, her mind focusing on pulling the fire into her body, using the sound of the crackling wood to focus on, Davy could feel her mind finally center itself.

Opening her eyes, Davy watched as the fire from the building moved towards her, opening her palm, she watched as the flame absorbed into body. Clenching her teeth, never in her life had she pulled a flame outside of her own into her body. But she refused to stop until the fire was no longer burning, using her sleeve to wipe the sweat from her forehead, keeping herself steady she watched as the fire slowly died down.

Jake watched in awe Davy absorbed the flames, never in his life had he seen something so spectacular, "Damn brat, you're outstanding." He muttered to himself.

Closing her fist as the last of the fire flowed into her body, Davy felt herself starting to sway, shutting her eyes for a moment, she could feel the extra energy she absorbed move through her body. Exhaling slowly, she could feel the extra heat leaving her body, opening her eyes cringing a bit at the sight of steam coming off her body.

Glancing over her shoulder, she found everyone watching her and, in that moment, she could only feel her own fear. All she could think about was her dad's words, that if anyone discovered what she could do, they would think her a monster. Smoothing down her hair, Davy mustered up what little courage that she had left and lifted her eyes towards the people standing around, "I…" but before she was able to get her thought out, the sound metal crashing pulled her attention.

Her eyes going wide at the side of him lifting his truck and tossing it at the man in the suit, but it was the how he was clutching his side that had her scared. Not sure what prompted her into action, Davy darted her way across the parking lot towards the fight, hoping that she would be able to distract the man long enough for Arthur.

David could see that the fire was out, confused at how that could have been, but not that it mattered. Swinging his sword, growling when he missed his face, he was getting tired and while he had the suit it wasn't going to do much for his personal fatigue. Using his foot, he contacted the man's stomach, which sent him back a couple feet.

Hitting a few buttons on his arm, he couldn't help but chuckle, his eyes finding fish boy watching him. "Doesn't matter that the fire was put out, still going to give off enough heat that the missiles that I just launched will lock on." Stepping towards him, "You might survive, but you won't be able to save them all."

Anger fueled him, rushing towards him, Arthur ducked under the sword and grabbed the arm that had the keypad. Twisting it to the point of breaking, he glared down into the one brown eye peeking through the crack. "Turn it off, now." He growled out.

"Come on hero, choose who lives, who dies." He taunted. "Is it that little blonde? You going to save her and let your town burn? People that you've known your entire life?" Smirking through the pain, nothing pleased him more than seeing the anguish on his face.

Sliding to a stop at his words, Davy glanced behind her, the smoke still billowing out, even without the flames that it was still hotter than the people mulling around. Blinking rapidly, she quickly looked around wanting to find something anything that would divert the missiles. But everything within her line of sight was just another wooden building, even as she glanced over the boats, she could see that they were still too close to town.

Spinning around, desperation started to fill her, looking out over the harbor her eyes settled on the warship, it was slated to sink anyway. As she made a move to run, she felt herself being held back, turning quickly she found her uncle staring down at her, fear filling his eyes. "He launched heat seeking missiles." Hoping that he wouldn't try to stop her.

"Davina, please be careful." Hating that he couldn't help.

Giving him a sad smile, "Tell him I love him. Dearly." Turning on her heels, Davy ran for all that she was worth towards the end of the dock, unzipping her jacket as ran down the wooden planks, and without stopping dove headfirst into the frigid waters, hoping that she was able to get to the ship before the missiles hit Amnesty.

Jake watched as she swam towards the boat, holding his breath as she made her way out into the bay. She wasn't built like Arthur, or the other superheroes that have made their names known, she was delicate and not able to withstand being blown up. Wiping a tear that was staring to fall, no matter what happened, in this very moment, Davy was a hero, and he couldn't be prouder of the woman that she had become.

Davy could feel that her arms were getting tired, but she kept pushing herself through the water, it was slow going because wind had started to pick up, which in turn made the water choppy. Stopping for a second, she tried to gauge how far out she was and seeing that she was at least a ¼ mile away, she could feel her heart sink. Even if she was a much stronger swimmer, it wouldn't be fast enough through the waves, regardless, she would hate herself now if she gave up.

Letting out a tired breath, she resumed her swim, hoping that by some miracle that she would reach the ship before the missiles made their way towards the town. But as she moved through the water, the sound of squeaking pulled her attention, glancing around her eyes went wide at seeing the pod. Slapping her hand on the water, Davy let out an excited yip as the young male made his way towards her.

Seeing him pop up in front of her, Davy gently stroked his nose, "Please, I need to get to that ship," she said hoping that he understood her.

"Mother, his mate wants to get to the ship."

"Then let's get her there." Speaking out the rest of the commands to her pod, the matriarch maneuvered herself under her, and when she felt her latch onto her fin, she moved through the water bringing her towards the ship.

Davy held on for all that she was worth, never in her life had she been on the back of an orca, even with her time with Arthur, and perhaps if she wasn't so scared she would have really enjoyed herself.

It didn't take long for them to reach, gently patting the matriarch's back, Davy found herself looking over towards the anchor chain, "There, please. I can climb up." Reaching up as the whale came to stop, she could see her watching, "You and your family need to get out of here, it's not safe." Without another word, she slowly climbed the metal chain, her muscles complaining, but she pushed through, and by the time she climbed over the railing, her body was exhausted.

Wiping the water and sweat from her eyes, she found herself looking over the town, a sad smile gracing her lips. However, her smile soon faded because in the distance she could see 3 smoke trails heading towards it, "Oh fuck." She had hoped that he just sent one, she had a small chance of survival with that, but with 3, there was a 99% chance that she wasn't going to. Closing her eyes, Davy wiped the tear that was sliding down her face, regardless of her fear, one life was not worth an entire town of innocent people.

Coughing up blood, David quickly removed his helmet, spitting the blood at his feet, but what brought a smile to his face was hearing his alarm bells going off. "You're too late, fish." Holding out his arm, "In 3 fucking minutes, all these people are dead. You didn't save them, hero." Moving quickly, David attempted to drive his sword through his heart, but he missed and found himself being held up by his throat.

Smirking down, "You failed." He choked out.

Arthur could feel his body trembling, even if he dropped him now, the chances of finding Davina and getting her to safety were gone. Gripping his arm that held the sword, he snapped it and drove it into his gut, twisting it as he pushed it through his body. Letting his body hit the ground, watched as the light in his eyes dimmed, at least before his entire world ended, he at least killed her murderer. Taking a step back, his eyes searched for her, frowning when he didn't see her amongst the rest of the people.

Spotting his mother, Arthur ran towards her, "Please tell me you brought her home." Desperate to know that she was far away from the blast that was coming.

"No, she was the one that put out the fire." Pointing to the building, "Where is she?" Atlanna turned around, her eyes searching for her daughter.

He could feel his heart pounding, looking towards the sky, his eyes watched as the missiles made a dive towards the town, it was too late, everyone that he cared for, and the woman he loved was about to be blown to fucking pieces. Refusing to turn his head, Arthur pulled his mom close, knowing that they would probably be the only survivors, but as he felt her squeeze his shoulders, the missiles reangled themselves and headed out towards the harbor.

Following their path, his eyes found a big ball of blue flame coming from the warship. "DAVINA!" Turning on his heel, Arthur ran as fast as he could towards the water, but before he was even able to jump in, the sound of the ship exploding had stopped him in his tracks.

Dropping to his knees, Arthur screamed out, anger quickly filling his body, but it was also pure devastation that followed a close second. Digging his fingers into the wooden planks, he could hear them splintering into nothing under the pressure of his grip. It didn't do anything to stop the fury that was pumping through his veins, nothing would, and the man that was responsible for her death was already dead.

Davy watched the smoke trails from the missiles arched started to descend towards Amnesty, scared that it was too late, she quickly stepped back towards the back of the ship. Steading herself, Davy brought her blue flame into her hands and quickly let it spread over her body, wanting to make sure that she burned hotter than anything around. Bringing her hands up towards her chest, Davy launched a fireball at the bow of the ship hoping that the wooden deck would catch on fire.

Knowing that she would need more than that, Davy tossed several more around her, but she needed to ensure that the missiles came straight towards her. Bringing her hands together, she pushed the fire in her body out further, taking a calming breath, Davy slowly moved her hands back and forth.

In a matter of moments, she could feel her flames swirling around her, letting her eyes focus on it, she couldn't help but be a little amazed with the fireball that she was now in. Pushing herself a little more, she expanded the ball as much as she could without it collapsing. Taking a deep breath, Davy glanced around the deck, grateful that the whole thing was now engulfed with flames, turning her head towards the town, she could see missiles finally changing course.

Exhaling slowly, Davy could feel her energy starting to falter but she refused to stop, pushing the flames around her out a little further until the flames around her started to flicker. Unable to hold herself up any longer, Davy dropped to her knees, her body exhausted from the amount of energy that she pushed from her body. However, before she could even catch her breath, the loud whistling from the missiles caught her attention.

"Get up." She muttered to herself. Knowing that the chances of survival were minimal, she was desperate to give herself a small chance, if only to tell him that she loved him.

Attempting to get to her feet, Davy fell against the railing, flinching as the heated metal started to bend under her weight. Letting her eyes drift towards the water, frowning at the sight below her, the water was churning faster now, and she knew that that she didn't have the strength to swim back. Not having any other choice, either to die by explosion or drowning, at least with drowning, her family would have something to bury.

Letting herself fall over the railing, Davy hissed with the sudden temperature change of her body, and the last thing that she saw before the shock hit her body was just above the waterline was the warship being blown into the sky then after that everything went black.

"Mother, she's not swimming."

Maneuvering herself under her sinking body, she was able to get the young woman up on her nose. "Daughter, you are to stay with me to help her towards shore, the rest of you swim as fast as you can find Arthur." Slowly bringing her towards the surface, the matriarch knew that she needed air in her lungs, or she would die.

Feeling her daughter against her side, pleased that she knew that they needed to swim close together to keep her from sinking to the bottom.

Jake stared over the water as the flames from the ship slowly started to go out as the ship sank into the water. Wiping the tears from his eyes, struggling with sadness over the fact that his niece was gone but proud that she gave her life to save everyone else. Closing his eyes, he debated on calling Johnny now, but he knew that he would be here in a day or so anyway and this was news that would be better to hear in person.

Glancing to his left, he could see that Arthur was shaking, his eyes never leaving the wreckage, and the sight of that just broke his damn heart. He wanted to go comfort the man, but he was suffering on his own and he was sure at this point there was nothing he could do or say that would do anything for him.

Arthur stared over the water, his body shaking with rage, but mostly he was despair that filled his soul. The love of his life was gone, sacrificing herself so that the people of this town would live to see another morning. As that thought passed through his mind, Arthur lifted his fist driving it through the dock not caring that it splintered under the force of the hit.

But no matter how hard he hit it, it did not thing to stave off the fury and grief that was coursing through him. Hanging his head, hating the fact that was what he needed to do, was search for her body before the predators of the sea found it. As he mentally prepared himself for what was to happen, he felt a small warm hand on his shoulder, lifting his eyes ever so slightly, finding his mother looking down at him with tears in her eyes.

"She's a hero, Arthur." She said, her voice shaking.

Holding back a growl, he knew that his anger shouldn't be directed towards her, but for a second, he was tempted to scream at her for saying such things. Using his forearm, Arthur quickly wiped the tears that were sliding down his cheeks, right now he needed to retrieve her body for her uncle, for himself, and for this town.

Exhaling slowly, he moved to his feet, his eyes turning back towards the water, "I know mom." Sparing a glance over his shoulder, Arthur found her uncle staring longingly out over the harbor, but what surprised him most was that the people that were there to witness what she had done for them, were standing shoulder to shoulder holding each other closely. While it wasn't much, it did bring him some comfort knowing that the town were showing not only her uncle the support but honoring her sacrifice.

Atlanna watched as her son struggled with the loss of his love, she wished that there was something that she could have done for him, but like when he needed to deal with the issue with Mera, this was something that he would have to process alone. For all she and her husband would be able to do was support him emotionally and give him the time and space he would need to feel somewhat normal again.

She wanted nothing more than to have words of wisdom for him, but at the moment she wasn't even able to comfort herself, for the pain of losing Davina was almost too much for her to handle. Taking a moment to center herself, Atlanna went to open her mouth but was silenced by the loud squeals of the whales, letting her eyes turn towards the water, gasping as the pod was jumping and screaming.

"Arthur, something is wrong." Never in her life had she seen anything like it.

Turning his attention towards the water, Arthur closed his eyes, letting his gift reach out to them, hoping that there wasn't something else he needed to deal with right now.

"Arthur! My mother and sister have your mate, she's not breathing!"

Gasping at the words that echoed in his head, Arthur's eyes looked over the whales that were swimming close to the docks. As his eyes swept the waters, he could see two more coming in, both swimming on the surface of the water, and a small body on her back.

"Oh my God." His body immediately responded to the sight of hers. Jumping into the water, Arthur was desperate to get to her, hoping that she was still alive.

The matriarch saw Arthur swimming towards her, relief flooded her. "I can feel her heart, but it's slow." Knowing that he was in desperate need to make sure that his mate was safe.

He could feel his heart pounding at her words, "Thank you." He muttered. Locking his eyes on her body, Arthur gently pulled her towards hm, and without another word, pulled them onto the dock. Lightly touching the side of her neck, he could feel a small pulse, but she wasn't breathing.

Pinching her nose, Arthur carefully blew air into her lungs, desperate to get her breathing on her own, but as he gave her his breath, he could feel people starting to rush towards them. "BACK UP!" he snapped.

Using his palm, he gently pushed down on her chest, doing what he could to keep from breaking her ribs. Feeling tears rolling down his face, Arthur was petrified that he was going to truly lose her. "Come on baby, I can't lose you." He cried out. Breathing into her again, hoping to get her lungs to expel the water that was killing her.

Atlanna kept herself between her son and Davina, wanting to keep everyone out of the way, but as Jake pushed his way through the crowd, she allowed him to pass, "She's strong, she'll come back." She said, hoping to give him some comfort as well as comfort herself.

Jake watched as Arthur gave Davy CPR, with each breath he pushed into her lungs and how he pressed down on her chest, he prayed that she would come back to them all. Closing his eyes, he silently prayed to God, begging him to give her the strength to fight.

"DAMN IT DAVINA!" he yelled, "Don't fucking do this to me." Fear and panic started to fill his body. Lifting his hand up, Arthur brought his fist down against her sternum, and the reaction was instant. He watched as she coughed up water, quickly turning her to her side, he carefully patted her back, "Get it out baby." His voice shaking as he heard her cough more. "I love you." He said, desperate for her to know how he felt about her.

Turning onto her back, the last thing Davy saw before she passed out was Arthur looking down at her, and his words of love touching her ears.
