Chapter 4

Try it

Vegeta III, heir to a Saiyan family, with a very long legacy among the greats of the planet Vegeta. Member of the council and a high-ranking general of the planet. They are an elite family for their power and ability, when it comes to power levels. Despite being close to the Royal family, they know nothing about S-Cells, nor do they know anything about their rank, which is quite low. Except, a few years ago, when Vegeta III had his first son, Vegeta IV, at first, the child showed a higher power level than most children of his same class, including that of the first prince. When it came to the rank of S-cells, they were quite irregular. Sometimes they surpassed those of his entire family together, but at other times, he even had less than those of a lower-class child. That was when he was still inside the incubation capsule. After that, it was no longer the responsibility of the royal doctors to measure levels or ranks. Although they were keeping a close eye on him.

Bardock was never related to any of them, but he always saw them passing by at all hours in the halls of the palace. When Vegeta III's father died, he was transferred to the position of Elite General. He gained the trust of the King and is now one of his most faithful and trusted servants. Saiyans of all classes respect him and know him, he is known as one of the best warriors.

At the time, there were even rumors that they were planning to overthrow the King, something that was obviously cleared up with a fight between King Quash, then a prince, Bardock's grandfather, and Vegeta III's grandfather, curiously enough, Vegeta II. The royal family never liked that name, it sounded pretentious, and the worst thing was that they kept calling his offspring that name, perhaps to annoy. The fight ended with King Quash being crowned the winner and Vegeta's family declaring themselves his faithful servant. Bardock's grandfather even made them sign a treaty of unconditional loyalty. Their rivalry ended until then and little by little they came to be considered more of a friendly rivalry.

Loyal servants of the crown, proud Saiyans and with a fairly high level of power. The best thing was not that, the Saiyans had a lot of faith in them.

Bardock noticed the gullibility they had towards all his people. More than he ever had, for the simple fact of being an illegitimate son and the bad reputation they created for him by so many rumors. Although over time the Saiyan warriors began to believe in him enough to put their lives in his hands. Most of the elite class still doubted the crown prince a little. Bardock noticed it, but he also knew that that was Vegeta's specialty, his good reputation among all those wealthy Saiyans and with a reputation in the society of the planet. Since he convinced Vegeta to help him, his testimony with them would be much more credible.

The Saiyan prince had everything coldly calculated.

Within a few minutes, the planet's scientists would give him reports on explosives with power levels similar to those of a Saiyan.

If for some reason a soldier of Frieza decided to step into the atmosphere by meddling, surely he would notice the explosions from afar, or at least that would be the case with a normal bomb. On the other hand, if it explodes consecutively inside a shield strong enough to withstand the explosions for some time, it will not destroy everything around it and with the holographic magic, which they improved thanks to the help of Frieza, everyone would see Saiyans everywhere, just like a normal day on planet Vegeta. Deceived by the eyes, they would destroy the planet.

A door opened, revealing a Saiyan scientist, with a hurried look on his face.

So is it possible to make an explosive like that?– The Saiyan man fixed his gaze on Bardcok, while a corner of his mouth raised – Of course your majesty, in science everything is possible. With the new materials that were brought by some warriors from your last purge. I managed to discover a shield capable of withstanding explosions with a level similar to that of middle or low class Saiyans for days. Unfortunately, this shield will only last about two days with explosives that have the power of a high class, and it will only last that long if a person controls the times it explodes, since the automatic explosions are too consecutive and this could make the waiting time much shorter. With the material I have, I can create a single command and link all the explosives so that a single person can control them. I would like to make a device that would be able to control them remotely, but right now I don't have those materials and we don't have enough time to get them - Bardock's eyes fell on the scientist with uncertainty - That being the case, I suppose a Saiyan will have to sacrifice himself for the farce to be credible - The young Saiyan nodded.

Not bad at all. It might work, though it's not certain whether the high-class Saiyans will want to be the last to escape. They think highly of themselves, they won't like being the last to evacuate the planet at all. I'll think about that later. By the way, how many can you create in less than 30 days? – The scientist's hand rested on his chin, trying to think more deeply – I suppose that the necessary ones so that they are in each home two weeks before the arrival of Freezer. They are simple artifacts, they only need some adjustments and everything will be ready. But, I will need a lot of help

How many men do you require? – The Saiyan prince asked without further ado – As many as you can offer. While I understand, you do not trust many, Bardock – The prince's brow furrowed at that comment – Well no, but, I suppose that if it is due to force majeure I can convince a few more than those I know. Besides, I entrusted someone to look for convincing evidence. I'm sure that after he gives his testimony everyone will believe it, even the King. After that you will have all the help you need – After finishing speaking the prince left while his cape fluttered from side to side. The young scientist looked calmly at Bardock as he left the place, at first he also thought that his plan was somewhat exaggerated, but now, it seemed to make perfect sense.

PLANET EARTH |MONTE PAOZ | YEAR 737

Kakarrot's arrival on planet Earth was successful, the capsule landing just one day after its departure. However, soldier Tooma's ship deviated at some point in its path, delaying it for a few hours. During that time, that baby managed to get out of his ship and meet an old man who was taking his morning walk. That old man took baby Kakarotto with him to protect him, bathed him, gave him food and tried to put him to sleep, but because of the baby's roughness, it was a harder job than the old man thought.

Soldier Tooma's ship arrived the next day, landing not far from the second prince's capsule, Kakarotto. He followed the coordinates given to him by his own capsule and although he found the ship, he nearly had a heart attack when he found nothing inside it. He explored the surroundings, but with no tracker or sense of direction, everything seemed, for a moment, lost. He even thought about how Bardock would strangle him when he reached the planet.

After Tooma's despair, some ideas came to mind, like shouting all over the forest "KAKARROT!" just like when he couldn't find Bardock in the palace. Which he did, he clapped his hands, sang, and even hunted a ferocious animal to call it with the scent of fresh meat. Nothing worked, but at least his stomach was full after a long journey.

When Bardock hadn't given him any trackers and told him that the signal to return would be sent through his capsule, he hadn't considered the fact that his son could be very elusive. After a while, he even considered threatening the entire planet Earth to help him find a baby. Then he realized how stupid that idea sounded and preferred to continue searching in every corner of the forest.

A Saiyan baby was not just a helpless child, most of them were quite restless, but their fighting instincts did not develop properly until after instilling in them a Saiyan pride and an innate fighting instinct, which they already had from the moment they were born, they just refined it. But the little prince had not received the proper teaching to refine his behavior, that is why he needed to find him soon, before it was too late.

Tooma kept shouting the little Saiyan's name everywhere, going deeper into the mountainous area, when in the distance he managed to hear a laugh. He ran towards the sound, with all the energy he had left, observing a small house a short distance away, when he arrived he quickly approached the door and without warning he slammed it open. He spent a few desperate minutes, but finally found him, in front of him was the little prince, sitting at the table and laughing uncontrollably from overeating, along with an old man who looked at him funny and drank his tea. Both were surprised by his sudden intrusion.

Kakarrot? Who...who are you? – Tooma seemed genuinely surprised to see a happy baby and in fact seemed at ease with the old man. While the soldier was still somewhat impressed by the scene, the little prince didn't give much importance to his arrival and continued eating. Gohan in particular focused on the furry thing that was coiled around his hip, this gave him many more clues as to who the man in front of him was, he looked at the man still surprised and stood up from his place.

My name is Gohan, I found this little one in the mountains, I thought he had no family. Are you the father? – Tooma was somewhat nervous by the question, as he came out of his trance – No, you're not. I'm more like his caretaker – Gohan was somewhat stunned – Well, if you're his babysitter, it seems you don't do it very well – A drop of embarrassment ran down Tooma's forehead – It's not that I'm an expert on the subject, I would have arrived for him sooner if my ship hadn't deviated for a few hours – The old man's eyes opened wide. He believed that what he had seen had perhaps been just a failed experiment that had come from another part of the Earth, but with this revelation now everything took shape – So it's a ship, I thought that sphere was some kind of strange vehicle from somewhere else on the planet, but now that you mention it, it makes a lot of sense – Tooma crossed his arms looking at the old man with curiosity – Then, why do they come from another planet? Do you know where this little one's parents are?

Listen, I appreciate you feeding him, but that child is my responsibility. If you give him to me, I assure you that I will take good care of him and we will not bother him again – At this the old man sat back down and took a sip of his tea – I'm sure little Goku still needs to eat a little more, while we wait you can tell me everything – The soldier was somewhat desperate, but gave in when he saw the son of Bardock's huge appetite, he took the old man's word for it and sat down, for some reason that old man inspired confidence. Gohan gave him a calm smile – Who is Goku?

That's the name I gave the little one, I'm sure he likes it very much. He's a very active baby, I tried to keep him entertained with toys, but the only way to calm him down was with food – The little baby licked his hands as the adults talked. Tooma shared the story with the old man, he didn't go into details, but he told the relevant things. When they realized it was already night. Gohan invited them to stay with him and although they didn't know each other perfectly, Tooma accepted this, after all, he would need help with little Kakarotto and it seemed that Gohan was much better at taking care of him than he was.

PLANET VEGETA | ARMED FORCES OF THE KING | YEAR 737

From the moment Zarbon left the throne room he was pursued by a diligent Saiyan, none other than Vegeta III himself. He followed him from afar, so that he couldn't notice his power level with the tracker, his steps were cautious and although nothing really seemed out of the ordinary, he knew that he could get something interesting out of Frieza's right hand, if he stayed quiet enough and wasn't noticed by him.

At first Zarbon just walked calmly through the halls of the castle, strutting himself whenever he noticed his reflection in the metal walls. Vegeta kept pace with him, his face repulsed as he watched him get ready.

When they arrived at the barracks where all the soldiers who were part of Barack's armed forces gathered, Zarbon was greeted with looks of fear and caution. This treatment didn't seem to bother him, rather, he seemed to enjoy it. With airs of grandeur he headed to the bar where they served drinks and food. Some Saiyans moved away from his presence and others didn't give the slightest importance to seeing him there. Zarbon received a bottle from the waiter who attended the place and he smiled. A few minutes later Vegeta joined Zarbon's side, not caring about the strange looks of the Saiyans, Frieza's soldier quickly noticed this act and a corner of his mouth slowly rose.

Gosh Vegeta, to what do we owe this honor? – Zarbon asked sarcastically, managing to cause a small mocking smile from the Saiyan general – I was just passing by, it's not unusual for a high-class general to stop by for a drink from time to time – Zarbon looked at him seriously as the Saiyan took a sip of his scarlet drink, and instantly turned his gaze to his own glass, shaking it from side to side – No, I suppose it's not. The great Frieza also loves this same drink, I suppose only high-class warriors have this privilege of trying this extravagant drink. Or at least I hope so, since Prince Bardock arrived, things have been somewhat... different – Zarbon's long sip surprised everyone, except General Vegeta, who looked at him amused – In one thing you're right, Bardock has made absurd, but intelligent decisions. Considering his stained blood, it could be much worse

I never imagined you defending someone, Vegeta – That Frieza soldier looked at the general with a raised eyebrow, while the latter snorted at the comment – Of course not. I would never be able to be a bootlicker and follower of fools, like others, don't you think Zarbon – Vegeta's eyes coldly glared at the elite soldier, while the latter turned to frown – You're right Vegeta. Much more if it's Saiyans who rule. On the other hand, Emperor Frieza always says that 'trash' must be eliminated. And there is a lot of 'trash' in this universe that prevents true beauty from manifesting. I think you realized perfectly well that I am a lover of beauty, don't you Vegeta? – Vegeta's smile disintegrated with that sentence while Zarbon began to laugh out loud. He knew that he had been following him all this time – I don't know what you're playing at Vegeta, but whatever it is, stop doing it. Next time you'll get more than a warning - At this, Vegeta clenched his fists, while Zarbon glared at him - By the way, what can you tell me about the Super Saiyan? - Vegeta was perplexed by such a question, while everything around him fell silent, making Zarbon feel somewhat uncomfortable - Super Saiyan? That's... a simple myth, a legend that helps children sleep at night. There's no truth to it - With his arms crossed, Vegeta didn't decide to answer any further, fixing his gaze elsewhere. At this, one of the other Saiyans in the place decided to intervene clumsily.

Don't say that, General. Every legend has its own truth. I trust that a Saiyan like that will appear soon and we can be free... - Before he could continue, a squadmate hit him hard on the shoulder when she noticed General Vegeta's furious eyes, which were looking at the other Saiyan with the desire to kill him - You had an insect - His partner told him innocently while he rubbed his shoulder.

So a legend, huh, Vegeta. I'm surprised that Saiyans are so gullible as to think that things like that could happen. That such a powerful warrior appears from mere monkeys is sheer nonsense, as much as thinking that an asteroid is about to hit the planet and kill us all. Even more so – Zarbon stood gracefully, making his way through the Saiyan crowd. No one was very happy when the elite soldier called them "monkeys." Vegeta III tried to save his pride and fury for later, not even all of them together would have a chance against Zarbon. He walked out without looking back at any of the Saiyans, for a moment everyone looked at General Vegeta. But he simply walked off in the opposite direction to Zarbon.

Although he had not managed to record a specific conversation where Zarbon revealed the true plan that Frieza had for his race, even so, practically everything was already clear with a simple sentence that came out of Zarbon. He had to hurry since Zarbon had discovered him spying on him, surely he would tell Frieza that they suspected something and that was not good at all, his arrival would be much sooner with this information, but at least his testimony would now have more weight and meaning. Frieza was afraid of the Saiyan race, especially the emergence of the Super Saiyan.

The paranoid Bardock was right, Frieza would destroy the planet.

I thought a lot about how to capture Vegeta III's personality in the story. He really is very arrogant, but I think I succeeded.

Serious question, would you like longer chapters?

As for the fifth chapter, stay tuned, because the best is yet to come. Let's hope that all the suffering is over for our beloved Saiyans.

Regarding Goku's personality and the plans I have for Raditz, I will say as a SPOILER that Goku will not be dumb, but he will be kind and Raditz will surely have a better character development, especially since he is Bardock's firstborn.

I remind you again that, if I see that you like my work (sending comments or opinions and even new ideas) I confirm that I will continue it until the end, no matter what happens, and although I will continue it anyway (because I write this story for fun and my own pleasure) surely with your good comments and opinions I will be even more motivated to finish it, so if you want quick updates I ask you to be very encouraged in each chapter, I put my heart in everything I write (at least that's what I try)

I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for reading.
