[a/n]Vukk suggested "Umbridge bans the Gryffindor quidditch team, and refuses even with Albus pressure to reform. When no quidditch takes place, the students riot…"
Harry Does Different DXXXV
Mostly Peaceful Quidditch
The confrontation took place unfolded between classes. Much of the student body saw the beginning, those who did not certainly saw the grand finale. There was a shriek "I WILL NOT BE PRESSURED MINERVA! The Gryffindor Quidditch team will NOT reform!"
"You have allowed" the word was a long sneer from the Head of Gryffindor "the other House teams to do so. Centuries of custom will be overturned by NOT having all four play."
The High Inquisitor retreated a step from the taller witch and shot back "That is your own fault for your personnel choices."
"I beg your pardon." McGonagall couldn't've got stiffer "My players are chosen for pure talent and love of the game! You allowed Slytherin to reform instantly!"
Reminiscent of their prior public falling out the shorter witch climb two stone steps, equalizing their statures "Your players …many of them… have unacceptable political views."
"And how many Slytherins have you questioned about the return of You-Know-Who?" the Head of Gryffindor moved up the same two steps and closer "I care NOTHING for the beliefs of my students. Only their Quidditch skills, as long as their education is not neglected. I warn you! This will NOT stand!"
"ROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRR!" whether a cheer, or an imitation of the animal, every Gryffindor bellowed in victory. It was a great moment.
It was only then, the senior witches noted their audience. The High Inquisitor put on a display of having won her point completely, then marched through the crowd head high. The Deputy Headmistress frowned deeply, looking around and spoke harshly "Nothing you children just saw is cheer-worthy. Adults should not behave that way to each other, let alone educators in front of those we should be setting an example to. Get to your classes!" And it wasn't them she was angry with.
Abcij
The effect could not have been predicted, though it was planned by notorious ringleaders. And they called in help from the outside. It was a cold winter Saturday morning. According to the original schedule, today was supposed to be a Gryffindor/Ravenclaw game, instead the Lions officially forfeited with the Birds substituting. As long-standing tradition had it, Madam Hooch marched onto the pitch "Now I want a nice clean game from ALL OF YOU!" the umpire declared *TWEEEEEEEET* Kicking the equipment trunk released the Bludgers and the Snitch, then she flung the Quaffle high.
The Slytherin players immediately charged into action, two even jumping the gun a trifle. The four Ravenclaws not in on the scheme also went to work. The Goalie, Seeker and a Chaser only floated in place. As fast as the official players started, the invaders weren't bound by the rules and streaked in to snatch all the balls.
"How dare all these outsiders and …AND FOREIGNERS.. disrupt our game!" Umbridge was furious.
It didn't really hide his identity, but Harry tossed aside his Quidditch headgear. With his voice already enhanced, announced "I invited them. Present for you, Mr. Foreigner." He tossed the Snitch [he'd had the pleasure of grabbing it right from in front of Malfoy] in the direction of another uniformed invader "I'm sure everyone recognizes Viktor Krum."
"Ve no like messing vith da sports." The international star Seeker declared. With all his strength, flung he gold ball at the High Inquisitor. The wings caught the witch's hat right through the Hogwarts coat of arms and stuck it to the pillar behind.
A Holyhead uniform flashed in and smacked, in lightning succession, both Quaffles from Fred's and George's hands. Lucius Malfoy's feet were both hit, the blond wizard howled in pain.
"Now that the skills clinic has concluded" a slight man hovered down on a broom. His dress-uniform hat was emblazoned with the International Confederation of Wizards Quidditch Committee coat of arms. His personality exceeded his frame "I am Maximus Brankovitch, executive vice-mugwump. I will first begin by apologizing to Slytherin and Ravenclaw for the disruption it was authorized by me."
Recovering her dignity, Umbridge lashed out accusingly "Then you are responsible for this outrage upon my person! The Minister HIMSELF shall be informed."
"I am here, Undersecretary Umbridge, specifically to investigate allegations of the British Ministry's political interference with Quidditch." The wizard's voice boomed through the stadium "And before you go into national sovereignty, let me remind you that while countries run their individual programs, the ICWQC is a non-political body that certifies a country is putting its best broom forward… so to speak."
On her feet now, the singled-out administrator shouted back "You have no rights here and no authority to judge your superiors, provincial!"
"And when acting in a Confederation capacity, my oath exceeds national loyalty. If you wish to challenge me as an American, we can take that up later." The wizard smiled maliciously, then became expressionless "As regards Quidditch, the authority of the High Inquisitor of Hogwarts is hereby suspended. For the duration of my investigation, I am in charge of the program. My first act is to reinstate Gryffindor House to full status, without further conditions. My second, is to empower the Head of each House to administer his, or her, program in the best interest of the House."
There was a cheer that shook the stands.
"I do not recognize your authority and demand to speak to your superior!" Umbridge declared.
Maximus smirked "As is your right. My immediate superior, Mugwump He, is headquartered in Jerusalem. But why stop there? The Supreme Mugwump is present, right in this facility."
"While there might be cause to chastise Maximus for theatrics," Dumbledore inclined his head to the American "he has acted largely within Confederation rules. This Slytherin/Ravenclaw match will be restarted as soon as the teams, and Madam Hooch, indicate their readiness. In compliance with ICWQC directives, Gryffindor games are back on the calendar. Gryffindor will take Slytherin's slot in the Ravenclaw match scheduled for March 25. With that, I yield the pitch to our esteemed umpire."
