I woke up on the ground. Something was clearly off. For one my clothes seemed like they were loose. My hair hung down touching my shoulders and my body felt generally uncomfortable. I knew that was the result of a spell and I couldn't help but wonder who had cursed me. I would need to exact my revenge on them. I stood up and saw Elijah. He was clearly taller than me and I felt a weight on my chest. It was then that I figured out what had happened. Someone had turned me female. I wondered if I would be able to use Marcel to figure out who.
"Are you alright, Niklaus?" He asked. In the grand scheme of things, I was probably unharmed. Changing my sex was really something that would injure my pride. Though I did not like it when people harmed my pride. If someone thought that it would make me weaker, they were surely mistaken because I was still the biggest, baddest beast around.
"I'm fine I guess." I declared. My voice was different. It had a little bit of deepness to it and a notable Southern accent but it didn't exactly sound like one someone native to Louisiana had. I thought of who could have possibly done such a thing to me and my first thought was one person in particular.
"What the bloody hell is going on here?" A voice interrupted. I looked up and saw my sister Rebekah, who was also taller than me now. I still didn't feel like I was a particularly short woman, but was also not a taller one like my sister or even Hayley.
"It seems someone has cursed our brother for an unknown reason." Elijah explained. To be honest, I didn't really care about the reason. I just wanted to see them pay for it.
"I will have Marcel find out who is responsible for this." I declared. Of course this would involve having to explain to my son that I was now a young woman whose age I couldn't even determine. "This does not change my plan in the slightest. Once I am returned to normal, I will be king and the first thing that I need to give a peace offering to Marcel."
"What do you mean?" Elijah asked.
"You are going to have to trust me, but you're getting a choice in the matter." I declared before I out my secret weapon and stabbed my brother with a dagger. His body turned grey like a normal vampire's would when they die, but in their case it only caused them to go in what was like the medical term of stasis.
"You really are mad. How is giving our brother to Marcel going to help us?" Rebekah questioned.
"It'll will make him think that I trust him." I pointed out. "Now I need to get some clothes. Take our brother to him. He is in the old compound."
Even though Rebekah could probably be helpful in such a thing, I needed her to drop off Elijah with Marcel. Of course, I was informed of fashion myself as I had helped her get accustomed to 21st century fashion. If I was going to be female, I might as well look good doing it. I would be going to one of his parties I looked in the mirror after I had the outfit on. I was a young blonde blue-eyed woman, a type that I was often personally attracted to. There had only been two exceptions and both of those were before I became a vampire.
I wore a blue dress with a built-in bra and as a result I showed the cleavage of my new breasts. I also decided to put on some lipstick and mascara. I had experience with forms of makeup because it used to be common for men to wear it as well.
I snuck into Marcel's home that night. I could tell that people seemed to be looking at me, so my objective to stand out was working.
"Well what do we have here?" He asked me. Okay, I was a little bit disturbed that my son was flirting with me.
"Just who I was looking for. Marcellus. It seems that a witch has done a disservice to me." I declared as I showed my eyes to him.
He chuckled a little bit before I glared at him.
"Okay I will find out who did this to you, but first. It's feeding time." He declared. At that point, he and the rest of his vampires jumped down and started to chow down on the partygoers. I knew about this practice which was why I had given my blood to a pair of them. I had plans for one of them, but I didn't want to make it seem like I turned them myself. "This is how I keep my guys happy. My nightwalkers love it. I got them working hard to try to earn one of these daylight rings. So what do you want me to call you? While I'm trying to figure out who did this, it would probably be a good idea for you to go by a different name."
"When I was a child, my family worshipped the Gods and my name will be Odina, based on the Norse ruler." I explained. Hopefully, it would be a name that struck fear the same way that Niklaus did.
"I like it." He declared with a grin.
"You know I must know what you do about the victims. It seems like a lot of graves to dig." I commented.
"We can't kill them all." He admitted. It would throw a bit of a wrench in my plan if neither of the two that I had chosen were chosen to be murdered. "Too many people going missing would cause tourism to drop. So we heal them and then erase their memories and send them on their way. The humans on the council seem to appreciate that."
"Marcel." Thierry interrupted. "Six of our guys were killed outside of a bar in the Quarter. Nightwalkers. No one saw who."
At that point, he looked at me.
"I'll have you know that I had nothing to do with it." I remarked.
Once he was distracted, I slipped away to make sure that my plan went off without a hitch.
"Hello again." I greeted the two of them before I snapped their necks.
I then headed back home.
"Who the hell are you?" Hayley asked me. She had a fire poker in her hand, but I wasn't sure if she could use it effectively enough to kill a vampire.
"Has Rebekah not told you?" I questioned. "Long story short, a witch of unknown origin has cursed me and now I look like this, but I am still going to protect you and this baby."
"So now I got knocked by a 16-year-old girl. This story keeps getting better and better." Hayley quipped.
Before we moved to the compound that Marcel now occupied, we lived in the house that we were in at the moment. We often invited the aristocracy over for lavish Victorian parties. I was grateful that fashion had changed because Rebekah constancy complained about how uncomfortable her outfits were. We actually taken the house from the Governor. I had seen him abusing one of his slaves, who was just a boy at the time. I had also thrown his son off the balcony. None of the men that she dated ever impressed me.
However it wasn't long before Marcel called me back out. I was curious if he wondered how much alcohol this young body could handle. Luckily, I had enough control of my inhibitions that I wouldn't do anything that I would regret.
I wondered if I should be trying to figure out who had done this to me myself, but the only witch in the quarter that I knew would mostly likely not be stupid enough to do this to me. She knew that Marcel was watching her and casting a spell would be suicidal of her. Still I decided to pay her a visit the following morning. I grabbed her and held against the wall.
"What have you done to me?" I demanded. I always showed forced even in times that I probably didn't need to. Maybe it was a bad habit, but I liked to show people that I was to be feared.
"As unexpectedly humorous as this is, I had nothing to do with it." She remarked. "And I also have to say that those jeans look good on you."
"Well are you going to find out who did this to me?" I questioned. I would not be put off by her attempts to embarrass me. I had a strong sense of pride from being raised by Mikael.
"None of the witches in the quarter would be stupid enough to risk their lives to turn you into a girl who looks like she should be in school right now." Sophie declared. That was when I got an idea.
"What about one of the minors?" I questioned. Marcel always did have a soft spot for children.
"While he probably wouldn't kill them, I doubt that they would have the power to do something like this, nor would they even know about you enough to want to do so." She explained. I supposed that I could enroll myself in one of the schools, but the witches would probably be able to tell that I was a vampire and probably wouldn't want to talk to me. "Now unless you want something to eat, with nothing alcoholic since you're clearly underage, you can get out."
I could tell that I was going to fairly annoyed by her. Her being linked to Hayley meant that I couldn't do anything to her and she was clearly taking advantage of that. Maybe I could cut off one of her fingers. Hayley's would probably even grow back.
As much as I didn't like to admit it, I was upset that my son had bested me. Like I said before, I had rescued him from the governor. You see Marcel was also the son of the governor. He raped one of his slaves. When his mother died, he made him his new slave. I had no patience for anyone who abused people based on their race, especially since my daughter was partially of a different race herself. Maybe my attachment to Marcel did stem from the fact that I had driven her away. On top of that, I saw a lot of myself in him as I had been abused by my father as well. When I first met Marcel, he didn't even have a name. His mother hadn't given him one, so I named him Marcellus, which meant little warrior. One of my biggest regrets was that the two of them never got the opportunity to meet each other. She would probably laugh at me too, but I wouldn't even care. I would do anything to be able to see her again.
I then went to meet Marcel for lunch. It was at a little café.
"Well this is certainly different than last night's party." I commented. He then pointed behind me and I saw the bartender: Camille. "The bartender from Rousseau's I see."
"She's a work in progress." He declared.
"And yet here you are pining over her when you should be eating her for lunch." I remarked. Did I feel like teasing my son a little about his crush, maybe just a little. "She must be special then."
"Business first. The coroner called. He's got my number in case something happens." He explained. I had a pretty good idea where this was going.
"Let me guess dead tourists with a stamp on their hand." I remarked. "And vampire blood in their veins."
"It happens someone falls off a balcony or drowns in the river. And today I've got two of them to deal with." He explained as Camille started to get up. I didn't think she noticed us. I decided to talk to her. I was pretty sure that I didn't look threatening.
"Excuse me." I said to her. I had to tell myself not to call her Love because it would sound weird. "What's that you're studying?"
"Abnormal psychology." She answered.
"Abnormal psychology?" I replied as I pulled her over. "Well perhaps you could help me diagnose my friend over here. He's been a little bit depressed. Can't keep his mind off a girl. He tells me she's a queen, fit for a king. I think he should cut his losses and move on. What's your professional opinion."
I was pretty sure that she noticed him blushing.
"Be a nice guy and maybe the opportunity will present itself someday." She offered with a wink before she walked away.
"How about tonight? 9:00?" Marcel suggested. That sounded a little late for a date but I supposed she was a night owl. "I'll meet right here."
"I'll take it under consideration." She declared before she walked out the door with a smile. I could definitely use her to distract him.
"Ooh harsh." He commented.
"Maybe you've lost your touch." I teased him.
"You know you being like this is definitely going to take some getting used to." He declared.
I then went with him to the coroner. Diego and Thierry were there.
"You take me to the nicest places." I quipped. The van opened and it was indeed the two that I had seen the night before
"Welcome to the land of the newly dead." Marcel declared. He then looked at his mates. "I won't waste your time though. I trust you've filled them in."
"To be honest, not much in the way of potential here." Thierry commented. Now that was just rude.
"Yeah, well I just lost six nightwalkers. I've got holes to fill." Marcel declared. He then explained what they were feeling. He then came to me. "What do you think? Cute dorky girl or gay best friend."
"Dealer's choice." I stated.
"Whoever picks up this coin gets to live forever." Marcel declared. "The other one dies."
The girl immediately snatched it. I liked her.
"Damn girl." Marcel remarked.
"How could you?" The guy asked.
"Get over it, Josh it's not like I had a choice." She stated. She had a self-preservation. She would definitely be useful to me.
Marcel then went over to her and snapped her neck. However since she was in transition, she couldn't actually die unless she didn't feed. That would make things easier.
"I'll dispose of her." I offered.
"Well make sure she suffers. I've got a thing about people who betray their own friends." Marcel responded as he handed me the body bag.
I took the girl back to the house with me and waited for her to awaken. The first thing I did was fill her mouth with blood. Even though I preferred to drink from people, it was still nice to keep some available in case of emergency.
"What's your name, Sweetheart?" I asked her.
"Tina." She answered.
"Well I want to tell you that even though you failed Marcel's test, you passed mine. However, he doesn't know that you're still alive, so you'll have to lay low for a few days. It's probably just as well so you don't try to kill everyone you come in contact with."
"Why did you save me?" She asked me "On top of that who even are you?"
"I am one of the Originals who helped found this city, though I'm not exactly in the right body right now. Normally I'm called Niklaus, but for now I am Odina. Tell me does it sound as scary?"
"Not really." She admitted.
"Well thank you for your honesty." I declared. "Marcel is probably showing Josh the ropes right now which means I'm going to have to do it to you."
"How do you even know him?" She asked.
"Because he's my son. Not my biological son, but still my son." I explained. "Also whenever you do find Marcel, make sure not to tell him that you're working for me. I can't let him know that I'm plotting against him. So what is Tina short for?"
"Christina." She answered.
"Nah sounds a little religious for me. I'll stick with Tina." I declared. "But it looks like you are going to be my new BFF, assuming I don't kill you after all. I have a bit of a bad habit of doing that but that's only because they betray me."
"So are you going to kill him?" She questioned.
"Probably not. I've already lost one child and even though I have another on the way, I more want to put him in his place." I answered. "Now do you know how to cook?"
"No." She replied.
"Well I guess I'm going to have to teach because your cover is going to be our made." I responded.
That night, I was a bar. It was nice I was still able to compel because most bartenders wouldn't serve me.
Marcel came inside looking for me. He looked distraught.
"I know that face. It's woman trouble." I declared.
"You're a bitch. Why didn't you tell me that your sister is back in town?" He asked. Was he going to try to pursue her once again?
"I thought it would be more amusing for you to find out for yourself." I told him before I took a drink. "And it was."
"Is there anything else I need to know?" He asked.
"Only that she's grown considerably madder in the last century." I declared as I poured him a glass.
"Or maybe it was her who killed my guys." He proposed.
"Doubtful. Unless that biker is frequented by small-town high school quarterbacks, I can't imagine she would be interested." I stated. I couldn't see what she saw in Matt Donovan. He didn't even seem that interested in her. Maybe that was why she felt like chasing him so much.
At point, his phone rang. I heard them talking about a werewolf. What had Hayley done?
"Get a couple nightwalkers to run it down. Bring my back its head." He ordered.
"I guess that solves the mystery of the murdered vampires. At least my sister's in the clear." I declared.
"About that I don't have time for Mikaelson family drama. Keep your sister in line." He ordered.
"I've have a greater chance of draining the Mississippi with a straw." I pointed out. She never listened to me.
I soon got a call that my presence was needed at home. When I got there, I found a few bodies along with Hayley and Rebekah.
"This is why I told you to never leave the house." I remarked. "Werewolves are banned in the Quarter. I had a plan and your little nighttime stroll put a hitch in it and you, you've been leaving a trail of bodies like a roadmap."
"If I hadn't heard this man bragging about werewolf heads, everyone would be screwed." Rebekah pointed out. "And don't give me any crap about having a plan. You've had all of the time in the world to execute a plan and no one has seen you do a damn thing."
"Well Marcel said that he would help me find out who did this to me." I stated. "If I am going to make them pay, I need to find out who they are."
"Elijah made a deal to protect your child so it could save you from your selfish, rotten self." Rebekah declared.
"But you don't obviously give a damn about the child or Elijah, because what have you done to honor it?" She inquired.
"I have done everything!" I yelled. "From the day I arrived Marcel hasn't trusted me. His still has his vampires ingesting vervain. I needed a spy, but he chose her friend instead and now I have to wait until she's able to get into his circle because he doesn't trust her. Speaking of which Tina, please come here and burn these bodies."
Tina came out with some matches.
"You really think that this girl is going to help stop Marcel. She's scrawny." Hayley commented. At that point, Tina moved to strike her. Fortunately, I managed to stop her.
"I am a black belt in mixed martial arts." Tina declared. "Why do I feel so angry right now?"
"It's harder to keep your emotions in check when you first turn." I pointed out. "Anyway I know the man to is through his heart."
I then thought back to my earlier meeting with Camille.
"So my friend Marcel, he seems like a nice guy, don't you think?" I asked.
"No. He's charming, sexy, confident, incredibly hot, but he's a bad boy. What is he even doing hanging out with a girl your age?" She asked. Maybe I was more of a detriment to his dating life than a wingman. "And right now all I need is good in my life and not someone who's…"
"Tragically wounded and damaged by demons he can't escape?" I guessed.
"The damaged ones…they're not good, at least not for me." She added before she walked away.
"I understand, but just give him a chance." I compelled. "And I need you to tell me where he goes and who he sees."
We then went inside the house.
"Does anyone have any more questions?" I asked. Both of them were silent. "Good because I have a question. Hayley, what were you doing in the fucking French Quarter in the first place? I'm waiting?"
"Leave her alone." Rebekah demanded.
"You wanna know what I was doing. I was buying wolfsbane. I was trying to give myself an abortion so neither me nor this child would have to deal with any of this."
I was not amused by that. I grabbed her and held against the wall and began to choke her. Unfortunately, Rebekah pushed me off of her.
"Keep your hands off of her. She is pregnant for the Gods' sake." She remarked. I already knew that. "You say that you don't want the child, but as soon as she tells you that she's ready to get rid of it…it's okay to care, Sister. It's okay to want something. That's all Elijah was trying to do. That's all he's ever wanted for you…all we've ever wanted for you."
I then sat down on the floor. At least I wasn't wearing a skirt so I didn't have to cross my legs.
"The reason I gave Elijah to Marcel is because he was nervous that Elijah would kill a bunch of his men. He also didn't like the fact that both of us were here. I have a plan though. I will gain Marcel's trust, dismantle his empire and then I will free Elijah. I am doing this the only way that I know how. If you don't like it, there's the door. See if I care."
Later I was in my bedroom. I hadn't yet figured out what I was going to sleep in, so I was in my knickers at the moment.
"Are you okay?" Tina asked me.
"No one ever seems to really care about my feelings." I admitted. "Well a few people have, but they're pretty rare."
"Well the truth is I would be dead if not for you, but I really don't hope that you are going to hold that over my head. So how is it you were turned into a girl anyway?"
"I don't know." I declared. "I don't know who did it. I don't know who could have done it. So why did you come to New Orleans?"
"Josh and I were going to travel the country together. I guess that's not going to happen now. I can't even go out into the sun. How is it you're not harmed by sunlight?"
"Well I am a hybrid." I answered.
"Is there any way I can become one?" She asked.
"No. I don't think there's a way to turn vampire into a werewolf. You can only do the other way around." I responded. There may have been a way to do so, but it would probably involve some kind of spell and I wasn't exactly on speaking terms with any witches. "But there is a way for you to walk in the sun. I would just need a witch to be able to cast it. Of course none of the witches around here seem to keen on doing magic."
"You know I never had a family. The closest thing that I ever had to a sibling was Josh and I'm pretty sure that I've ruined that forever. As fucked-up as your family seems to be, I can tell that deep down you care for each other." Tina declared. "You said that Marcel has a way to determine if people are doing magic. What if it's not a thing that your looking for? What if he has his own witch that can watch other witches and know if they're doing magic."
"The amount of power that would requires seems like it would be unheard of." I commented. "The only witch I've known that was that powerful was my mother and she's already been killed twice. I don't think that she's the one helping Marcel."
"Just because you haven't met someone as powerful as her doesn't mean that there isn't anyone." She commented.
In the morning, I saw that Hayley was sleeping and walked into her room. I looked inside of her purse to check to see if all of the wolfsbane was still there.
"I didn't use it." She interrupted. I couldn't help but wonder if she had been faking being asleep.
"You're awake." I noted.
"I could barely sleep all night. This is like a freaking swamp sauna." She complained. It wasn't the easiest to get power and that hadn't been an issue before.
"What stopped you? You could have been free of all of this." I pointed out. "Of me."
"Yeah well when I was fighting off those vampires, I realized that I wasn't just protecting myself. I was protecting my baby too. My it has to do with the fact my birth parents gave me up and my adoptive parents kicked out after the accident. All I know is I realized that I wouldn't let anyone hurt it."
"I'm beginning to think that we're a lot alike." I commented. "I know this child probably can't hear me, but I think it…and you would like to know about my first child."
I told the story about her and how I wanted a second chance to be a good father. Another reason that I was so angry at my mother was her refusal to revive her. While I didn't want her to manipulate me but if anyone would be able to do so, bringing her back would be the easiest way.
"You know why I am so upset at Marcel?" I asked. "It's because he chose to stay behind when Mikael came for us. We thought he was dead, but instead of seeking us out, he chose to take everything that my family had built for his own, including our home. He is sleeping in our beds. The M that he uses doesn't stand for Marcel. It stands for Mikaelson. I want it all back and if I have to push him out to get it, then that's exactly what I'm going to do. I'll try to get the air conditioning fixed.
At that point, I went downstairs. Then, Rebekah stormed in.
"You were right. The girl, Cami, she's the key." She remarked. "Marcel likes her and because of that I got to see the secret weapon of his that you've been going on about."
"Well what is it?" I asked.
"It's not a what. It's a who." She explained. "A girl. Her name is Davina. She looks the same age as you are now, but if you're the most powerful vampire ever then she must be the most powerful witch ever. And now because of you, she has Elijah."
All I could think about was how much I wanted to meet this girl. The only problem was I didn't know what I would do when I did.
Mystery Witch POV
I was practicing some magic when Marcel walked into the room.
"Well it seems our spell didn't really do anything to deter Klaus or Odina as she calls herself now." Marcel declared as he walked into an attic. "I'm sorry about Rebekah. She's an old aunt that I used to have feelings for."
"That's kind of messed up." I commented. "But I'm not afraid of her. None of them do."
"I didn't think that they would, Davina, but it seems like they're here to stay." He explained.
"Even though they're your family, they don't belong here." I argued.
"Well I can't exactly convince them that." He pointed out. "That's why I need you to figure out how to kill an original."
So we finally got to see Davina, who is confirmed to be responsible for transforming Klaus, who is now Odina. She's played by AJ Michalka. Also Tina survived is portrayed by Sydney Sweeney. It seems that there are a few sparks between her and the newly-transformed original. We're going to be looking at a slowburn romance. Plus we learned a little more about the mystery of Klaus's dead daughter. Who is it and when will she come back? Please don't forget to review.
