Electro: The Price of Eternity (2)

P.S. I now have a discord server! Discord .gg/ceBMM2Zz6c

Yae Miko, the Guuji, the Chief Priestess of Narukami Shrine, the owner of Yae Publishing House and...

A very concerned familiar as once more found herself facepalming over her master's foolish attitude. She visited, she made her case, Ei had to come back and fix the messes that she was letting to fester with her limited intervention. The people were rebellious, they were in a stalemate with Watatsumi and...

One may think that years of self-isolation and self-contemplation would have shaped the true leader of Inazuma to be somewhat wiser in taking risks of this kind, but Ei had once more proved herself incompetent to the role of Shogun.

It wasn't even an insult considering that the very point of creating the Raiden Shogun, beyond creating an endless ruler that could keep her Eternity afloat, was to have someone capable of 'defending' Inazuma. To think that an Archon could last long and yet preserve their offensive capacity was foolish.

And Yae was keen to agree to this view - a look at Liyue or Natlan would confirm that most of those known to be among the most powerful were now husks of their prime glory. Yet, Yae wasn't the kind of woman that gave alarm without due or reason: there was ahugereason why she was now concerned for Ei.

She had long predicted someone would come to bring her some sense, but now the chance of a 'fair fight' had been thrown out of the window as the kitsune had seenwhatwas now approaching her Master and how uneven the fight would be.

Despite what many would expect from the teasing Guuji, Yae was a clever master of intrigue. And when she can look into the past of someone, even just a glimpse, then she can determine how good the odds are.

They weren't. Good, that is. Yae didn't find a specific memory, but the one she found about the one bearing the might of a proper deity, above the common Archon, she was caught in a vision that terrorized her to the core.

Akin to Yae, a Thunderous God matched the bald warrior from afar. This one was actually stronger, older, and far more experienced than Ei. A charismatic leader, but also a corrupted and murderous one. Despite all of that, despite his hatred, despite his will to fight and survive, he didn't last against someone that broke through the invisible barrier between mortality and godhood.

The fury, the anger, the pure wrath. It burned, making Yae relent in an instinctual tension that only made her wary of how bad it would shape if the Raiden Shogun didn't approach this with tact. She doubted Ei would heed her warning, that dumbass was too immersed in her own pain to give a crap about how close to death she may be.

Sure, she was not the Raiden Shogun, but the Shogun was the one thing binding the spiritually distant Ei to the realm of Teyvat. Her passing would cease Ei's chances to be back, condemning her to true eternal solitude.

Despite these chances looking grim, Yae was immediately at work to actually undermine the odds of these two ever meeting. Either by sabotating Ei's own army where possible, or by actually putting more hurdles on the path of the group visiting Inazuma.

It was a difficult chore considering that the Narukami Detachment was already investigating the group out of the fact that one of them was publicly known to have slain an old God in Liyue to save the harbor.

Such notion was also worrisome, but Yae's primary concern remained the man known as Kratos.

And while she was hopeful she could try, at least, to let these two to never met... she also started a new side project.

Her alone couldn't do it. She was still a single person despite her decades of wisdom and experience over the unique library of the shrine, thus she had as many unassigned priestesses to look for specific books about creating a construct alike the Shogun. This one would prevent Ei from having her own domain beyond the mortal one, but it would still work in a way to preserve her existence at a limited power.

It was the ultimate betrayal a familiar could plot towards her own master, but Yae had drawn all scenarios possible regarding solutions beyond this one, but the harsh truth kept hammering her back to the chore of finding a way to yank her dumb master out of harm's way.

She was definitely getting a scolding from this plot. At least. And she was sure as hell going to get put on some limitations herself.

But the country wasn't ready to have Ei mess this one up because her Raiden Shogun was so hellbent to prove herself worthy by smacking against someone that was seasoned in slaying thunder-related deities.

This was a huge mess. But Yae didn't plan to let her friend die because she was so dumb and foolish and...

Hurting.

...

It was a complex matter, but time had given her enough understanding on what can be done to fix that. In due time.

Right now? All Yae could think of doing was to save Ei from a fate worse than feeling herself responsible for her sister's death.

What Yae didn't notice was, however, that someone else had also moved to prevent Ei's death.

This one from beyond the grave, and bearing a more direct approach than what the kitsune was trying to convey with her machinations.

AN

Kratos' about to receive a strange dream. And a new companion throught those. And this one, he may feel somewhat compelled to listen as... he does share something with Ei. Something that may make him more malleable to not kill her. But I will not spoil much as only those that played the spin-offs know what I am talking about.
